Aquariann:
Yes it is. Every registered member of the party votes at the primaries at their different ward levels. That was how the APC candidate in Osun emerged. Indirect was/is the commonly used method whereby only selected delegates gets to vote for the party flag bearer, and this method is the easiest to influence or hijack by bribing the delegates.
Thanks

Before we proceed with this discussion, can you tell me what you understand by Direct primaries?
I actually wanted to ask what is direct primaries?
Who are those that vote during th primaries?

My own little understanding is that it's it's voting process by party members to determines who gets the party ticket for a position.
Is that it?

Christianity Etc › Re: Who Decreed That Christians Must Have White Weddings? by NoToPile: 1:47pm On Sep 21, 2018
@topic, it's the church that started it.

Church wedding is not wrong in itself but it's the way the priests/pastors make it seem you have committed an unforgivable sin if you don't have one, saying stuffs like your marriage is not recognized by God.

What we should be talking about is the sanctity of the marriage itself whether church or just traditional Is the bed truly undefiled? You will see people that have been sleeping with each other deceiving themselves that they solemnizing in holy matrimony which sort of holy matrimony is that, the one in which the bed has been defiled?
This is what we should be talking about as christains not arguing about whether traditional alone is enough.

Once the parents collect whatever they are given (according to whatever culture of that tribe, country) and handover their daughter to the groom they are married simple.

Kaycee7:
Emphasis on in the eyes of God. You're husband and wife in your traditional community. But if you're a Christian, the Church does not consider you married. It's as simple as that.
In the eyes of God you are married once the traditional stuff is done and your parents give you over.
The church is not God, the church can decide not to recognise the marriage, that's their problem.
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Decreed That Christians Must Have White Weddings? by NoToPile: 1:27pm On Sep 21, 2018
Kaycee7:
My people suffer because of lack of knowledge and understanding.

I'mma throw some light on this so that those who really desire to be enlightened can benefit.

Once you profess to be a Christian, you must be wedded by a minister of God. It's not negotiable. Anyone claiming to be a Christian and yet does not recognize this fact is ignorant of his faith. Now, you may come at me with where "white wedding" is written in the Bible. I tell you brethren, if you insist on following the Bible verbatim, without interpretations, then your wedding should be done in the Jewish fashion with a priest descended directly from the line of Aaron and ye must meet all the conditions set by Moses as he received them from God.
Now, if you care for an interpretation, God has always given his followers directions on how to follow him. And if you read the Gospel, you'll remember Jesus telling his apostles "Whatever you have bound here on earth is bound in heaven and whatever you dissolve here on earth is dissolved in heaven". So if a minister of God does not bind your marital union, my dears, heaven does not consider your union bound.

Now to face the history teachers who suddenly know what gown Queen Victoria wore on her wedding day, the Christian wedding is not an indigenous western tradition. They adopted it just like us. Before most of Europe became Christians, they practiced rituals such as hand fasting, blood oaths, wine sharing (this one should sound familiar), and many other unique practices. They abandoned all these for the Christian wedding ceremony while retaining the reception ceremony. And even that has undergone different changes over the years and is different in different countries all over the world.
So, if you are going to be annoyed at any ceremony, it should be the reception. But good news, it's absolutely unnecessary. So you are absolutely under no requirements to do it.

On a final note, traditional marriage still remains important because WE still hold on to its significance. After much headache involving legitimacy of both marriage and offspring begotten, The Church often requires you to perform the traditional ceremony so as to avoid stories that touch for you or your kids. But still remember that you're not husband and wife in the eyes of God until His minister has blessed your union.

Lastly, the guys saying 75% of church marriages crash, where did you come up with these statistics? We need to see your research files.
Your bolded points are wrong.

Nothing wrong with a church wedding but saying if you don't do a church wedding your marriage is not recognised by God is wrong and not biblical.

Simple.

True, it isn't by force to marry and FALSE everything doesn't revolve around me but I also know that I cannot shut out my own blood out of my life or start restricting/regulating them just because I married one lady

And submission means loyalty, I, on my own part will show love and care BUT she must not contest my authority with me nor try to misbehave when it comes to my family She must be a virtuous woman

The 'one lady' and your children should come first, every other person comes next. Their preferences come first.

Anyway I doubt you would want someone to have unrestricted and unregulated access to you, only one person should have that access- your wife

I have said this over and over again, we need national formatting and resetting. The headline, the response from this woman and the adjoining reactions have shown vividly our poor thinking pattern. In an interview the man was asked about the impact of the poorly subtitled movies on young viewers and in his own words, He said, "... Truth be told, I hardly watch them because I am keen on watching movies that will challenge me and change my orientation about certain things. My children watch them a lot and that does not make them speak bad English." .
Now here is the issue, how poorly subtitled movies now represent the Nollywood in general and the ones that challenged him became Hollywood. Please let's not be easily fooled because that is the same way we assess and vote leaders in the country. Listen to people and use your God given brain to analyze information.
You know we Nigerians always look for an opportunity to vent our concealed anger.

How this turned to Kunle vs Genevieve and Ibo versus yoruba still amazes me.

He's proud, why didn't netflix buy his movie blabla bla. Is that what we are talking about.

Even the OP cut of the opening part of that statement, simply to generate controversy, in this context he didn't say anything wrong. A smart person would have wondered what question he was asked.

I remember when he talked about pirates, they said he was a tribalist blablabla.
Nigerians are very predictable and we are not a honest set of people (a sizeable amount of us)

Men do not understand it because it is their family and their family can never go wrong.

My friend just went cold after so much issues from her mother inlaw. The woman visits a lot and would spend a month and want to be treated like a queen while my friend runs helter skelter cracking her brain on breakfast, lunch and dinner for her(she can be picky)

Her and her husband were having issues because of the mum's constant interference. My friend complained but it didn't stop and so she just went quiet. When her MIL visits, she would be a dutiful DIL and nothing extra. Her hubby noticed her distance but it was late.

It took intervention from her dad and respected family members that resolved it and talked some sense to the husband. Now his mum hardly visits though her and her DIL are cool.

Men are clueless most times.
Very clueless oo

It seems men don't know having visitors is stress on its own.

Jesus! So loving ones in-law has even become a thing of "if you could"?

How do you guys do it? Marry a man whose family you dislike/hate? Any marriage built on that foundation is going to crumble. You guys go around marrying men with the intention of hating their families. This is evil honestly.
Acidosis you can't understand, you are a man

Yeah best thing is to love them from afar,it has nothing to do with hate be nice, courteous, polite, respectful but avoid too much closeness and see-finish. It is the day gbege will happen you will know 'you are just a wife'

Well I wanted to say why can't the boy stay with his grandparents but it seems the objective here is to hide the boy from his father, ensure people don't link that boy to your hubby's sister and want you to be part of a conspiracy, deception etc.

There are two parts to this

It's not just accepting the child to your home that seems to be the problem, it's also about the deception, will they deceive the future hubby of that girl when she meets him, if you accept what happens next? The secret won't come out? Will you lie to people who have known you in the past or what. They want to erase that boy from that girls life journey, we know it's not possible and they want you to help them with it.

I don't like what they are proposing at all, they decided themselves they now want you to be part of it not nice.

Whatever built on lies will surely fall.

Taking care of a child is tasking on its own, not to talk of him being an in laws child(much egg shells to walk on) and then to deceive him that you are his mother when both parents are alive which also means he's automatically your first son( I think this also is a source of concern to you)

I would say if you must accept him (I don't advise you to do, it most likely won't end well) you can attach conditions that you can't be part of the deception let him know who his mum is etc etc.

There is nothing wrong in 11yrs old staying with another family.

It depends on how she is being treated. Assuming you have a girl of 9 yrs as daughter and also have 2 younger kids, won't the 9 yrs be able to look after her younger ones while you are out?

Can't she sweep the floor, wash plates, play with her siblings, separate fight, wash their lunch box, socks, or even run all errands such as to buy something across the street?

Does doing all these makes the 9 yrs old a help in the her father's house? I think these and more are part of training the child.

Now we have 11yrs in question. Please if your instincts is against taking her in, then don't but she will be helpful to you when you treat her like your child . Enroll her in the same sch your kids will attend.
Nope, one should only try this with your own 9year child, try this with another person's child they will say you are maltreating the girl.

Let every child grow with their parents shikena.

If the OP takes that child in a lot of brouhaha will occur, any little thing they will say it's because it's not her child. Help them from afar abeg.

Yes. I was surprised cause I was expecting it to be worse than the federal road but once you leave the chaos of the main busstop through Lasu Road, everything changes, quiet & cool. Don't know if politics is the real reason behind the abandoned federal road cause many state roads are better.
That road is one of the nicest roads for me - just before igando down the isheri there's a sort of effect those trees have on me. Very nice view.

I don't think it's politics, I heared they have not paid the contractors for another phase or something like that.
