Help them manage their plank church or have it decorated. I assume your wife's parents are Yoruba when you mentioned Ijebu-ode and since a lot of times the wedding holds at the brides father's church just let it slide.

He most likely won't buldge, trust me from experience, he might be poor but having his daughter wed in his church seems to be a thing of honor for most of these old folks especially from Ijebu ode.

Since you have the money, spend some cash to make that place well lit, by the time they finish with decor we won't even recognise the plank church. Then find a good hall for your reception, there are very plenty standard halls in Ijebu ode.

Never heared of this infact it doesn't happen lailai, all extra money the alaga collects apart from the list of envelopes given to the hubby's family to be paid goes to the ALAGA only ( If there are two Alagas they can decide to pool the funds and share). In domestic violence cases separate till whatever it is that is disturbing the head of the abuser clears off, whenever it clears off.

In a christain marriage domestic abuse shouldn't even occur but just incase it does, I believe they should seperate for safety sake till it's proven there's a change.

I wonder why people don't talk about forgiveness when stating the 'except' adultery part.

See Naija mentality all spread all over here...Bricklayer's wife cannot do this, bricklayer cannot do that...we are so much into title in this country. There is dignity in every labour. I know a bricklayer's wife that drives a car, she has a growing business and the husband has more than 3 houses....she will gladly tell you that the husband is a bricklayer. Most bricklayers can comfortably feed their families....if you have ever been involved in a building project, you will know that they are not hungry people...except those with blocked heads who have no plan for their lives.

We have problems as Nigerians, I know about 2 bricklayers (not architect or engineer oo) that are successful, own properties ride good cars.

That guy that his house warming ceremony was on FP few days back what does he do for a living he sells and installs roofing sheets. If his wife does a roof cake they will say it's only blabla bla's wife that can afford it.

I wonder why they feel it's only the daily pay bricklayer we have in this country.

There's a welder by my bustop, welder ooo he does all these iron doors, gates etc. He drives a good car, you won't even know he's a welder if you see him his boys do the work.
