AmuDimpka: Wait ooo 911 is Benz shaaaa and I grew up seeing it
Also Bedford is a strong engine also
All those molue are Benz The Ford and UK cars I know are 1920s, they are used to haul water from Lagos water corporation in ikoyi infront of ikoyi club, anybody living or passing that area can attest. I was at UDO in Edo state last week and a certain truck for hauling logs of wood I am certain is an 1800 vehicle, it is red in color I don't know the make but that vehicle plenty there. There are 1950s Nissan atlas along Abeokuta Iseyin road, Honda sef no carry last alot of 1970 Civic and 70s accord in kaduna and Kano There are a lot of extremely old cars in Nigeria only when you travel often would your mouth be agape at seeing history in real life. There are even very clean Benz W140 in the north park there with no use in villages. |

AmuDimpka: German engineering.....I still see 1978 Benz 230 flat boots around and I still see 1956 Vboots
But I can't even see 1990 Toyota whatever around
It's German engineering you are very myopic and you need to go out more often. The oldest Engine you would see in Nigeria is American Engines by Ford or those made by UK, followed by Nissan/Datsun engines. Don't always take Lagos as the basis of everything. There are 18xx Engines and vehicles still on the road that weren't made by Germans or Japanese. But Japanese still have older Engines compared to Germans in Nigeria. if you need evidence, I will point you to location, make, model as you deem necessary |

mukhcech: Thanks for the quick response. I am grateful. Please wat is the price estimate?
It should be between 90k and 120k because your 97-00 is different from 01-03
Do you still drive your sienna? Mine is 2002 model. What oil(gear and engine) is recommended because I think the oil use must have contributed to my situation. And Radiator coolant.
I use MRS 5W40 full synthetic since I bought mine 6 years ago
I used Total MVLV dextron 6 for my gear, the Oando dextron 3 flares the transmission when it is hot like 2hrs driving. Alot of high mileage sienna I personally know experience flares and some packup especially with cheap ATF usage. transmission aren't like Engines at certain high mileage it's unusual to start experiencing failure.
my radiator coolant is the one total sells for 450, the green one, been using it since 2017, I haven't had time to drain it and refill but will do that when I get opportunity
I have been doing the unholy act of using water. Can my ignorant action still be redeemed. Do I need to change the whole radiator. Or just switch back to using coolant
As long as the radiator isn't blocked or leaking, just drain the whole water and buy 5L of coolant, pour about 3.5 to 4L and use the remaining to top up after driving. |

mukhcech: Sir. Help my life. Spent 20k already on this Gear. My problem is similar to what the OP said. But here is the picture of what I am going through.
I took my Sienna to mechanic for gear oil Change. after noticing some drags and sudden change in acceleration. The mechanic said the oil was burnt. I did notice some iron fillings on the filter during the servicing. The mechanic said it was a non-issue. He washed clean the filter and replaced the gear with Oando dextron 3 gear oil-I just hope I am not mistaken. The oil is sold for 3800. I drove the car to the wheel alignment and balancing shop to check since I will be Traveling on the third day. After checking the alighnment and stuff. I reversed out. put it on drive. Nah so my condition start. it won't engage in drive nor reverse. Towed it to the gear mechanic. He checked it and said the drive was bad. changed the drive. Still no show. He removed and service the Valve body. Only the Reverse gear worked. Replaced the 9 pin valve body with a 5 pin Valve body. Took the car for a test ride. Selection from 1 to 2 is Jacky but rest selection was okay. The reverse gear engage but not enough power to move the car because When he raised one of the wheel. The gas pedal rolls the the wheel in reverse but not when the four wheeler are on ground. He later discovered car reverse stops working as car gets hot. please, What can I do? At this junction best decision is to replace the gear with Tokunbo |

I have read that this will affect the performance, gas mileage and have a big toll on the engine in the long run. This is a huge put off for me as I would prefer to have peace of mind with my first ride. What do you think sir? Acura TSX 1st generation 4 cylinder only regular fuel. Acura TSX second generation 08 upwards 4 cylinder premium recommended not required 6 cylinder premium fuel required solution is to use octane booster. |

Engine and parts maybe hard to find in open market but you can always import or utilize American dealership in Nigeria. You won't have much problems in the drivability aspects good engines and solid drive train. You can still get some mechanical parts because a lot of vehicle models used the engine it is fitted in. |

Tucode: Thanks sir, you've been helpful. But one more question please.
Imagine budget is not a problem but you're a car novice who values stylish design but also conscious of cost of maintenance, and adaptability to our roads and you're to choose between the Honda Accord, Acura tsx and TL, which would you pick?
Throwing in the TL to make things interesting. Thanks. Acura TSX is my choice, more luxurious than the Accord and would give me a basic luxury and better fuel economy than the TL. Besides it less common on the road which would command more respect than Accord. I am not a gadget freek and I won't live in the car so I am comfortable with the DVD screen with rear camera and the steering wheel controls, all the other things the TL has better than TSX, I don't need them. |

TSX is a very luxurious Honda Accord Europe which is identical to Honda Accord North America.
so you are basically buying an Honda Accord 4cylinder with more luxurious fitting The Honda Accord Europe and Accord North America are identical in parts to a great %. The TSX is a luxurious European Accord. The only difference is the engine in the TSX is different from 4 cylinder in normal accords and has a higher HP. buy it parts are available. |

dljbd1: What do you guys think about 07 DC? Don't use cheap oil in the transmission and steering. Engine seating gets damaged due to bad roads and causes vibrations, always replace with tokunbo or confam OEM, brand-new china still always have vibrations. At high mileage engine external seals go bad, replace when noticed to avoid oil shortage. Listen well to the legs to avoid pulling off in unexpected places. The radio screen gets spoilt easily due to position to sun. Above all nah confirm ride |

Tucode: Hello guys,
I have been following this thread now and I have not seen anyone talk about Acura. Is it that the cars aren't good enough for our roads? I recently started taking note of the Acura Tsx and I am completely sold by our good looking and premium the car looks both exterior and interior. I have added it to the list of cars I will likely buy. But I really would love more info about the car and whether it is reliable, durable, and easy to maintain. It will be the first time I will be buying and owning a car.
My top picks are Acura TSX 2006/07 Toyota Camry 2006 XLE Lexus ES 330 Honda Accord 2007 EX-L.
Budget is around 2m for Toks only. I don't care much about speed. Looking out for Class, Reliability, Cost of Maintenance, Suitability with our roads (Benin City) and Aesthetics.
I have fair knowledge about the camry and lexus and Honda already as they are quite common on our roads. I just need someone to give me more insight about the Acura and how it holds up with the others. Thanks. TSX is a very luxurious Honda Accord Europe which is identical to Honda Accord North America. so you are basically buying an Honda Accord 4cylinder with more luxurious fitting |

Dbass2020: And which one is likely to visit the mechanic frequently? I want to get one of the three cars and I don’t want to regret any decision I make ES300 was first made, then ES330 was an improvement on 300 while ES350 was a better design car than the previous 2, look at the 3 cars and pick the one that you would like to be seen driving, one that you will smile every time you park it and be proud of yourself. The 1 likely to visit the mechanic frequently is the one you bought and drive with an "I don't care attitude" they are all vehicle, one way or the other something would breakdown. As long as the 3 cars are in great shape I don't expect something to break easily but alas the ES300 is an older model, I expect things to start malfunctioning or breakdown compared to ES350 the youngest in terms of production year. |
