Please I need your advice on which car to buy for e-hailing business. I'm having options of toyota corolla 2003 - 2005 model or Honda Civic 2005 - 2008 Model, though I'm tilting towards Honda Civic 07/08 model. Please which should I choose?, I don't Wana make mistakes.

Corolla makes you vulnerable to attack buy a civic which is also fuel efficient and rugged like Corolla.

The 13pin is expensive, change gear oil regularly depending on extent of use. A year or 2 years interval

Same vehicle no difference. You are better off with the 2.0L engine than the 1.6L because of the price for engine replacement.

Takecare of the body well it tends to disfigure and rust if badly used

Front grill, china is a bit bigger than the American.

The china variant is Corolla Altis, which has some basic premium fitting like wood finish in the interior door upto the dash area, some with indash dvd.

The easiest way is through a VIN check of the unit you are inspecting

Details and refinement was put in the Tacoma to make it more upscale than the hilux, but terrain too. If you follow toyota you know there offering in America market is geared towards luxury.

It is a solid vehicle and would stand the test of time.
If you are buying a variant with 4WD ensure you change the axle fluid to help prolong its service life. But all in all FWD or 4WD is okay depends on what you want.

The K24A4 too is a very reliable and cheap engine so you won't have problems with the vehicle.

To know a 4wd it will have a rear moon roof and realtime 4wd will be engraved on the rear boot glass.

The EX trim has a factory fitted subwoofer though the amplifier can be crazy sometimes

Tacoma is a luxurious truck not an ordinary truck like hilux, reason hilux was not available in US, it won't sell.

The ford has F250, F350, F450 and F550 with six tyres. Just that mostly you see F150 around in naija. I have seen the F550 b4 2 front tyres and 4 rear tyres

No tacoma I not as powerful as a Tundra tacoma comes majorly in V6 sometimes has 4 cylinder engine.

Tundra depending is V6 to V8 and has more cargo space and can carry more tonnage than tacoma.

Yes we can pitch the tacoma against the F-series but tacoma was toyota answer to an upscale truck not just ordinary truck.

What you need is not only an engine but a 2GRFE engine, that's the V6 engine that Camry was fitted with contact Gazzuzz he has one forsale

The 2.7l twin turbo develops 400lb ft of torque (same as the NA 5.0l v8 ) vs 265 lb ft in the 3.3l NA V6 engine. There is no other NA ford truck engine currently in production that has higher torque. 400 lb ft is more than enough to tow 9k pounds especially when coupled to the 10 spd auto.

But then, you can't cheat physics. Longevity is always a question mark for a souped up small engine. Top notch maintenance is a key factor in how long the engine will last.

I am not talking about horse power or acceleration I am talking about torque. The engine may be adequate as it's still new but for that category of vehicle I will stick to a NA V6 engine or a diesel

The BMW X5 is a full size SUV with a 3.0L V6 and a 4.4L V8

The Edge is a CUV with a 2.0L i4 turbo engine and a 3.5L V6

Maintenance I did give it to the ford for it is more popular than BMW but the parts of the X5 would probably be cheaper. Ford parts are a bit on the high side.

Fuel economy the ford wins here even the 3.5L V6 is more efficient than the 3.0L V6

Rugged both are okay sha the thing is that BMW is seen as a premium brand for wealthy people because of the believe that parts are expensive and it breaks down easily.

For the ford be weary of the 2.0L turbo engine, those engine don't like bad oil you have to use the right one.

The X5 3.0L V6 seems a bit underpowered for the vehicle people using the V8 have praised the vehicle.

For the year 03 X5 vs 07 Edge I believe I will pick a more recent model year which is quite popular on road than the X5

New cars they service with 20W50 and fake oil filter. Dealerships in naija are all about cost cutting.

The only advantage bought new in naija mostly have is the mileage thing. Very low mileage after several years meaning reduced wear and tear if maintenance was above average.

Buying a used car should be more about it maintenance not where it comes from. Just do a comprehensive inspection and buy if it passes whether naija used or tokunbo

Yes from the mechanic side of view . Not all car solutions can be diagnosed online, if the throttle body is bad I believe it should throw a code but what do I know.

Online diagnosis not available, get a qualified technician to test drive and give you working diagnosis

Drive by cable no sensor just controlled by cable, easy for mechanics to fiddle with, rarely gives issues.

Drive by wire, touch the wrong thing and issues starts computer controlled.

Nothing is wrong with the D4D engine it is not a common engine in toyota around our parts because it's more of European origin and we import few stuffs from Europe. buy normal 2.0L engine or 2.4L engine and avoid D4D the tech is not understood by most technician

I will endorse civic first, practical rugged and easy to use.

Accord next though with the shaft thing she can avoid the accord as a first time car owner and as a lady.

The Rio is perfect just like the civic but with the nonsense temp gauge of dana spec (those bought brand-new in Nigeria) the vehicle would have overheat causing engine damage before the car will warn you. If she can get tokunbo from US with normal temp gauge then Rio it is.

If the Rio is the dana spec avoid it like a plague due to the temp gauge it's a foolish design if you aren't careful overheating go kill you eventually

Please fellow Nairalanders, my car (sienna 2003 American model) all of a sudden started delaying while transmitting from gear one to gear two.
What might be the cause?

I am afraid of taking it to the mechanic without having the prior knowledge of the cause due to the unnecessary damages they have caused me before.

Check if the oil is guaged by checking the dip stick

If oil is guaged and not black, drain, wash filter and refill transmission with 4L of dextron 3 but I would prefer you buy total mvlv transmission fluid very expensive 3500 for a litre but very ok.

After that if rpm reaches 4 or 5 before switching to next gear, sorry to say better to buy a replacement transmission.
