President Muhammadu Buhari's media team have released a photo of him "reading" a newspaper.

The minister of transportation under Buhari, Rotimi Amaechi purportedly said in an audio leak at the weekend that Buhari doesn't read nor listen to anybody.

"The president does not listen to anybody. He doesn’t care. You can write what you want to write. Does he read?," Amaechi purportedly said in the tape.

"I was flying with him in the aircraft and we saw a news report where a goat seller was complaining that he couldn’t sell his goats during Sallah because of Buhari’s administration. And the president said what my business with goat sellers is?”

Since the tapes were leaked to public domain, the minister has neither denied nor admit he indeed made those statements.

In the same sentence where different media houses are reporting that Amaechi said "the president doesnt read", the same Ameachi also completes it by saying the president reads and laughs off the funny abuses directed at him. Nigeria is truly a funny place filled with confused people.

On one hand, PDP claims the president doesnt read. In the next second, the PDP claims the president reads and laughs over the lamenting comments of Nigerians.

Oga the statement was definitely twisted out of context. Important bits were intentionally deleted to twist the message in the statement upside doen. Every single one of those statements released by Reno were doctored for dubious reasons. More complete versions of the recordings proved what the woman has saying is absolutely right.

Any person with even the least intelligence could easily grasp the truth whrn the partial recording and full recording are played side by side. Although this is political season, so it's very much understood why a large number of people are currently playing ignorance.

Tolu and Reno are two of a kind; Tolu understands Reno and vice versa. This statement from Reno is clearly out of frustration over how Tolu keeps bursting his propaganda bubbles. Else I wonder why Reno would leave Atiku and Buhari and start talking about Tolu and even posting their pics from 2013.

1 swear if Reno had release the audio once, these people would have denied it and said it was doctored, engineered, nursed, lawed or even teachered. The scariest part of this whole saga for me is knowing how some people would readily accept this fraud without a second thought.

People naturally love to stick with the side of the story which suits their narrative, regardless of whether it has been proven to be false or not. You could even be severely attacked if you dare to correct them since it amounts to 'spoiling their fun'. This has to be one important lesson I've learnt from my interactions in Nigeria's political media space.

In 2015, Buhari had over a million votes from the southern zones combined. In that 2015, APC pulled less than 5% of the votes in the SS and SE zones even though they had zero structure. Currently, APC has structures in every state and LGA in the country, APC also has the power of incumbency. If you think they will not pull much better votes (up to 25%) next month, then you clearly do not have any political idea.

When people like Reno produces such tapes from his propaganda stables, he does so because he has a very good grasp of the thinking pattern of his typical Nigerian audience. When an audio clip is deliberately cut and joined, it doesn't take much for a smart person to know that much info 'may' have been lost in transit.

The first 6 seconds audio released suggested that "Buhari doesnt listen to anyone and doesnt read" (that sounded like an obvious insult from Amaechi). The second more complete version (22 seconds) when eventually released, proved to be a totally different message from the first; it actually clarified that the president actually reads comments and opinions, but laughs over the abuses directed at him (e.g. of the goat seller). That obviously doesnt sound like Amaechi insulting the president; that sounds more like him praising his boss for not bothering himself over idle comments. The above scenario is why smart people should insist on hearing the full story before jumping to conclusions.

Now the other clip of Amaechi saying the only way Nigeria can be made good is everyone is killed and how everyone is complaining of suffering in just 3 years of PMB. That was just another classical case of what happens when information is deliberately doctored to distort its meaning and misinform Nigerians. This evening, a more complete version of the clip was released which gives a better insight to the context of the statement:-

"CORRUPTION HAS BECOME OUR CULTURE, IT'S OUR WAY OF LIFE AND NOTHING CAN CHANGE IT. Just 3 years o, everybody is already crying crying and crying, pressmen are crying farmers are crying, workers are crying, politicians are crying, students are crying, in 3 years o"

In the above statement, Amaechi once again was hailing Buhari by claiming that in just 3 years, people were already lamenting as it wasnt 'business as usual' any longer (the statement was made with Amaechi and his audience laughing it out). But the bolded part of the message was intentionally cut out by Reno and co for obvious reasons, thereby giving the statement a totally different meaning.

I give it up for Reno and PDP though, they are clearly leading in the propaganda warfare.

However the point I tried to make earlier was that this dubiously crafted audio recording of Amaechi is politically worthless; it will not cause any current Buhari supporter to stop supporting buhari, and neither will it cause anyone (be it a buhari supporter or an undecided person) to support PDP. Two full useful campaign days has just been squandered by Reno and pdp supporters masturbating over an empty tape recording.

But that's exactly my point, Amaechi was simply mocking the Nigerian system and Nigerians by asserting that the people complain too much and that things can never get better in this country until everybody is wiped off. Poor chpice of words for somene who should be a leader though, but the narrative since yesterday is that he insulted his boss Buhari; how exactly did he insult or criticise buhari in those statements?... He can actually repeat those exact statements infront of Buhari. There's just so much hullabaloo and twisted interpretations over an empty tape recording.... How exactlt does this recording help PDP's campaign or hurt APC?

Something interesting about this audio recording saga is that it will not stop Buhari supporters from supporting Buhari and neither will it add a single extra vote to PDP. Just amusing how Nigerians spend so much energy on irrelevance.

Meanwhile, I'm still yet to have anyone explain how Amaechi's statement is an INSULT to buhari?... Sounded more to me like Amaechi mocking Nigerians... Except something must really be wrong with my comprehension today.

First of all, there's no leader in this world that can listen to and take every single person's opinion. As a matter of fact, it would be silly for a leader to even do that because whilst some opinions are good, a lot others would be trash.

Now I'm not in anyway holding brief for Buhari because I know he has failed to take good advice on several issues. However, the basis of my earlier comment is focused on the so called audio tape recording. When Reno released a bit of the recording yesterday, he announced that it would "destroy" Buhari. I'm struggling to understand how this recording can destroy Buhari, or how the recording even indicts Amaechi of abusing Buhari.

The only thing Amaechi has inferred in that audio recording is that the president doesnt bother himself with empty ramblings, that he actually reads and laughs over some opinions, and in my opinion, it is actually a good thing if a leader doesnt bother himself with distracting opinions. I'm just struggling to understamd why Buhari's opponents are excited over this tape.

For me, this is an indictment on the person of buhari

The reason it was debunked originally is obvious to even a child. The audio clip released yesterday was craftily cut short by chief PDP propaganda strategist Reno for obvious reason (i.e. to twist and distort the info). The short bit of the recording released yesterday made it seem like Amaechi was insulting the president. So the APC guys had to debunk it saying that was impossible. But now that the full recording has been released, it actually proves a totally different narrative.

No leader or president in the world can possibly listen to the opinions of everyone, and there's absolutely nothing wtong with that, and there's absolutely nothing wrong or abusive or indicting about the staement which Amaechi made (which happens to even be a goat seller joke).

So at the end of it all, the so called BOMBSHELL Reno has been wanting to drop is that Amaechi said Buhari doesnt listen to the comment of a goat seller in Onitsha?

I think I'm totally lost in the euphoria of this; would be nice if someone can please explain to me what exactly is wrong with Amaechi's statement... How does that statement indict anybody?.... and why exactly are some people in the PDP camp rejoicing over this statement? Am I missing something?
