Nogodye:Anybody can be a victim of circumstance, anybody! So we ought to be careful how we turn moral judges and mock people when they fall into trouble. Cos you never know when you or your loved one will be at the right place but at the wrong time. I wonder how you will feel when strangers randomly adjudge you "a person without proper training." This is not me exonerating the boy though, cos I neither know him nor his business. |
It appears the man was trying to strike a deal, a deal which may have involved ratting out some powerful people. Silencing him was the next thing... |
She also makes cash from ‘money slaves’, who deposit cash in her account for no reason and enjoy the humiliation of being ignored by her. What sort of bizarre oddity is this? ![]() Meanwhile if it were in Nigeria, we'd all be bothered about how she's now a walking corpse. #AfricanMentality

Righteousness89:But that's exactly what they are doing. How come its a bother to you? |

The responses on this thread are quite amusing. There's just this desperation by some folks to claim the money from the ECA was stolen. The thread earlier today about ECA money being low got so many people so so excited. Now an explanation proving how and when the money was spent (which was never even a secret) has now been put forward by the Tolu guy, much to the disappointment of many. Some folk out of frustration even asked if Tolu is the finance minister. Naija I hail! ![]() |
ifada123:Are you sure you read what I wrote?... or did you even bother reading or listening to the statement from Buhari before proceeding to your above conclusions? This was the statement from Buhari: "People who gave me only 5% of their votes cant expect to get the same treatment as people who gave me 97% of their vote" With the above statement, do you still think you should be adding 5 to 97 and expecting 100% ? Now that you know the real statement, do you still think there's anything mathematically wrong or inconsistent with that statement? |
virago:I'm not mixing anything up. English or maths knowledge isn't a measure of intelligence ordinarily, but there are definitely some exceptional cases. E.g. a graduate that cannot solve primary school arithmetic like 5 x 5, it's either the person is autistic or the person is extremely dumb. I still cant understand how such a person could even graduate in the first place if not thrpugh dubious means. Imagine a graduate writing 3 sentences and every single freaking word in all 3 sentences is spelt wrongly. I'm sorry, there's no argument for that, the excuse of "English not being our first language" cant fly on that, especially when the person has gone through primary secondary and tertiary education. |
ifada123:Lol... There was absolutely nothing mathematically wrong with Buhari's 97% and 5% statement. You (and millions of others) just failed to comprehend it. As usual, we Nigerians are more concerned about making jokes. In maths, it's not everytime you see percentages that you must add the numbers and expect 100%. At least not when comparing exclusive events. "People from City A gave me 97% of their votes but people from City B gave me only 5% of their votes." In the above situatiin, do you expect to just add 97 + 5 and expect 100? ![]() |
virago:Haha, you're still missing the point I'm trying to make. I really doubt you have seen the tweet that birthed this conversation. If you see it, you will speak no more! I wonder why the Op didn't post the tweet and for some reason, I can't seem to find it online any more. English fluency obviously cannot be a used as a yardstick to measure intelligence. But in some bizarre cases like this one, I'm sorry, exceptions MUST be made. Using your example about poor math ability not being a reasonable measure of a person's intelligence, what exactly would you say if you met a GRADUATE who has been through primary school, secondary school and a tertiary institution, but cannot solve 5 x 5? Would you still make this argument about mathematics not being a test of knowledge? |
SANDAT:Nope! I didnt overlook that. English fluency may not be a good measure of intelligence, but it can still to a large extent be used to qualitatively gauge a person's aptitude (i.e. their ability to learn). I really doubt you saw the so called tweet by the corper girl the Op is talking about. Even if the girl was raised in a cave by gorillas, the very fact that she's attended a primary school, secondary and a tertiary institution, there's a basic level of English command (doesnt have to be excellent) that is expected of the individual irrespective of if she lived in a cave. |
Simpubozz:I'm not the best person to ask this question cos I'm neither for nor against the argument. My position is that whilst English fluency may not be a good measure of intelligence, it can still to a large extent be used to qualitatively gauge a person's aptitude. |
salbis:And where exactly do you think the 'premises' is? ![]() |
StylesX:English fluency may not be an established measure of intelligence in the large scheme of things. However, in a country like Nigeria where English isn't our first language and where most people are first exposed to English language in schools, when other yardsticks of measurement are absent, an individuals command of English language can be used as a first pointer to measure the person's intelligence/aptitude. With regards to the corper girl with the appalling English grammar, I'm sorry to say but she must be dumb. After attending different levels of school for at least 18 years of her life, if she can't still string together a simple decent sentence, or spell simple words correctly, then her aptitude for learning must be very low. |
Famousbabe:I'm not sorry to say this, the lady in that video and all others ladies and men alike who are castigating those two men are just myopic. Whether we like it or not, there are paedophiles out there. A man giving a general advice to parents to not do anything which would expose their kids to the prying eyes of paedophiles, I don't see how that makes the man automatically a paedophile or an individual with warped thinking. What those men have said is simply a wise warning to parents to protect their kids, do not do anything that would expose your kids to trouble! But here we have it, instead of heeding the simple advice, we automatically turn around accusing the men of being the predators? Foolishness truly abounds in this day! |
alBHAGDADI: 1. Tithing doesn't predate the LawA tithe is simply a tenth. If a man takes 10% of an amount of money given to him to organise a feast, this can loosely be described by saying "he used a tithe of the money he collected to organise a feast." So in order not to mix up meanings, let me start with a little clarification. The tithing gospel preached today talks about regularly and mandatorily giving 10% of our earnings to a church. This version of tithing does not predate the Laws of Moses. Of course Abraham gave a tithe of his spoils to King Melchizedek, but that was not a law and neither was it commanded to him by God; Abraham did that out of his own freewill due to his love and gratitude to God following his victory in battle. It is like a thanksgiving offering, no scripture commands that it was done or must be done regularly. That brings me to the next point... You just label people who say Abraham did not continually pay tithe as 'foolish', you claim the bible had other stories to talk about so therefore, it was unnecessary to mention that little detail. You should be careful the way you insult people to pass your message across; remember, using insulting words on others doesn't necessarily make you a wise man. Now let us examine your claim, if Abraham continued to regularly give a tenth of his increase to King Melchizedek, firstly, there's no way the bible wouldn't have spared a single sentence to mention that. Again, if he did that regularly, then he would have passed the tradition unto his son Isaac, and Isaac to his sons, Jacob and Esau. From the verses you quoted above (Genesis 28:20-22), it is very clear to even a child that that was not the case; if Jacob was already a tither, then he would obviously not have needed to make a vow to God to start tithing if God kept him safe. Finally, just like Abraham, Jacob's decision to tithe was not a command, it was a personal decision, a freewill decision, and it was never a law from God. TITHING IN THE LAW, TITHING AFTER THE LAW First of all, it’s good that you acknowledge that we’re no longer under the era of the Laws. But you’re right, several things under the law are still binding till date, but these things fall under the 2 primary commands, “Love God, and Love your neighbour”. Your claim that everything which was changed under the law should have been mentioned in the new testament is not necessarily true; you don’t expect every single thing to be spelt out explicitly again even after Christ had given the 2 primary commands. For example, the law about not wearing dual fabric garment (Lev 19:19) or the law on not cutting side hair/side burns (Lev 19:27), these 2 laws were never mentioned again in the new testament, so do you mean to tell us that it is still currently an abomination and a sin for a man to cut his side hair, or to wear a garment made of dual fabric? But that notwithstanding, you claim the law on mandatory tithing was never mentioned in the new testament and therefore was never changed and is still binding even to gentile believers till date. Are you really sure the laws on tithing were not mentioned / changed? So what do you think about the teachings in 2Corinthians 9:7? 2Corinthians 9:7 – “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” The verse above summarises how Paul taught the Gentile believers to give, i.e. giving freely, without compulsion, whatever they make out in their heart (i.e. not a specific percentage). He also encouraged them in the prior verse to give a substantial amount, because if they give sparingly, they will only reap sparingly. If you claim that the law of Moses concerning MANDATORY tithing was and is still a binding law even to the Gentiles, how come Paul didn’t teach the Corinthians to firstly give a minimum of 10% of their earnings? Oga preacher, it is a good thing for a person to pay a tithe; a tither will certainly get blessed by God. But preaching that it is God's command to Christians even in 2018 to mandatorily give 10% of their earning to a church regularly, and that if they don't, they risk God's punishment, that is a false teaching which goes contrary to what the apostles preached. You and your likes should better repent before it's too late. |
Nonsense politics... how does Gana possibly think he would have a better chance than Duke? |
jmaine:Hmmm... You should take the words of a politician to literally, especially words said just befor elections. But then again, if you go back and read that statement from the report you supplied, there's a very important conditional clause to it which everyone seems to ignore for whatever reason whilst we selectively re-echo the 'sweet' part of the statement. And that conditional clause is still what Fash is talking of today, i.e. "if the DISCOs will yield some of their rights back to his govt." The point he's simply tried to make is that there's not much he can do to improve an asset if the asset isnt owned or operated by him. Whilst we might all agree that he's just making excuses, you cant deny the fact that it's a viable excuse. Power supply: All homes in Lagos will be lit in six months if… —Fashola |
taekwon:The government no longer owns the assets, when he made that statement, the government was still responsible for the power assets 100%. What exactly is stupid in what he's said? Why is reading so difficult for Nigerians? |
ProAnti: ![]() Of course a large part of the buck still remains in the hands of the government. The govt still owns TCN whose limited capacity is the reason we can't get over 5000mw even at the peak of the rainy season. A major problem which some of the GENCOs face is also lack of gas supply, which renders several functional turbines idle. But finally, if we must be honest, the biggest impediment to reasonable power supply in Nigeria still remains the DISCOs. Can the govt really be blamed for the incapacity of the DISCOs?... Except we're calling on the government to start paying subsidies to DISCOs to improve their infrastrcuture and supply pre-paid meters to customers, I really don't see how government should be blamed for their incapacity. |
daddytime: aolawale025:Under the last government, the power assets were still fully owned by the FG so yes, it wasn't out of place to fully blame the government then. Those assets were sold off by the last government to private companies before Fashola came on board. So right now, Fashola is right about not having the powers, or not being responsible for how the private owners run their business. |
As much as the typical judgmental Nigerian mind wouldn't have room to understand what she's said, what she has said makes sense. |
igwefivestar:Actually a very poor attempt at fiction. Too many holes in the story. |
Control7:His passport is a property of the Nigerian Immigration service, his UK work permit is the property of the UK government. If he has lost both, simply walk into a police station, declare the documents lost, go back to the immigration office, apply for a new passport and finally go to the UK embassy and apply for a replacement permit. By the way, this super story is very poorly scripted. Is he a minor or a zombie that his uncle would just collect his documents from him even after paying N5million for them? Did his uncle charm him to get on the plane and return to Nigeria with him?... if the uncle siezed the documents in the UK, how then did he board the plane to return to Nigeria? |
pauladonis:You keep evading the very simple point and diverting to other issues bothering on the blessings of tithing. The point here isn't about the benefits of tithing, the issue here is how the sermon on tithing is being blatantly twisted (either deliberately or through negligence) by current day preachers. All I'm trying to say is that there is no scriptural instruction or command that Christians should pay any particular percentage of their increase to a church, but we unfortunately still have a lot of preachers who teach this false message, telling believers that it a sin if they dont pay tithe. How can you not see anything wrong in this deliberate twisting of scripture from the pulpit? |
FlirtyKaren: ![]() There's nothing wrong with a media company saying they want 2 new female employees. But going forward to say 'gorgeous', that was quite audacious. |
pauladonis:Tithing is a good thing there's no doubt about that. But that is clearly not the point; the point is, 'did God command new covenant believers to always pay 10% of their earnings to him or risk eternal punishment'? Does that message have any scriptural backing? The only scriptural reference to mandatory tithing was the Mosaic Laws which of course were fulfilled on the cross. Except one does not believe in Christ as the messiah or his sacrifice on the cross, new covenant believers, especially gentile believers were never subject to the Mosaic Laws. Even when the Pharisees tried to force down the Mosaic laws on gentile Christians, it was turned down by the apostles (read Acts 15:5-10). So why exactly are preachers of today clearly contradicting the stand of the original apostles by scaring Christians with the curses of the law over non-payment of a mandatory 10% of their income (i.e. malachi etc.)?... Isnt this what the pharisees were kniwn for which earned then rebuke from Christ severally? Whatever happened to the teaching of Apostle Paul in 2Corr 9:7 where he taught gentile believers to give willingly whatever they chose in their hearts (as opposed to a specific percentage)? Does that no longer count as important?... Let us tell ourselves the truth, would Jesus really be happy watching today's preachers scare believers into paying tithes by threatening a potential financial crisis in their lives and eternal damnation?... |
Foodforthought:But at least you dont have to raise false allegations and then curse others over a flawed allegation (whether they are pdp or apc supporters). Try and get ur facts right. |
Foodforthought:Lol... hope you're aware that the so called N800 billion debt owed to marketers which is about to cause this crisis was debt incured pre-2015?, specifically in 2013/2014. Who was in power in 2013/2014?... and that was the period Nigeria made its highest income but instread of spending reasonably and clearing these debts, the money was being shared blindly with every idiot buying private jets. But we celebrated that lifestyle as 'economic progress'. Today you blame buhari for struggling to clear the debt? Buhari in November 2015 already paid off about N500 billion part of the debts owed marketers pre-2015. Now the marketers are simply protesting why the remainder hasnt still been cleared to which the current govt is promising to pay a further about N236 billion in a week. These mess created by the last govt being cleared despite the over 70% less revenue. The marketers are asking for the full N800bn outstanding to be cleared this week, and that's the reason for this strike. Ignorance Ignorance!!! If God should punish Buhari supporters, wetin God go do to GEJ and PDP supporters? ![]() https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/299954-why-nigerian-govt-owes-n800bn-debt-to-fuel-marketers-offers-n236bn.html |
Naija! the forces holding this country down are very powerful. The only reason fuel scarcity happens every december is because some powerful opportunists make money out of it irrespective of the pain they put Nigerians through. Ordinarily, it would be a case of 'not enough fuel in stock'. This time, effort has been made to ensure there's enough stock, but marketers now want to go on strike 2 weeks before xmas? |
Glink2018:You still speak in parables; you must think I'm one of your family members. God forbid! |
