Rossikk: Exactly. If someone came on here posting substandard newly built roads from Oshogbo or Ilorin, I'd be the first to criticise it. But they don't. We see new road constructions from Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja etc, and they usually have sidewalks and covered drains. Yeah, my point is simple, it's a general problem which isnt restricted to SE roads; irrespective of the fact that you see more threads opened daily showcasing more SE roads thhan elsewhere. But I'm sure you've been shown some examples by others which should be enough for you to understand and accept my generalisation. |
Politics › Re: Photos: Newly Constructed Roads In Aba by obailala(m): 3:52pm On Apr 23, 2017 |
Rossikk: Sorry, but every time I see someone post a thread on new roads built by SE governors, it's almost always with open drains and no sidewalks. Onitsha, Aba, Umuahia, Awka etc. They need to understand that roads with open drains and no sidewalks are primitive. The British introduced that nasty way of building roads here. They don't build roads like that in their own country. Even in their villages, they build every road with covered drains and sidewalks. I'm not sure I understand how anyone should even remotely think of blaming the Brits who left us close to 60 years ago for this. And yeah, I still stand by my earlier point, the issue of building wack roads with open drains, no walkways and no street markings is a nationwide matter which isnt restricted to the SE in any way. Apparently the only reason it may seem rampant to you in the SE is cos we encounter much more threads online showcasing one road or the other built by governors in the SE. |

omohayek: Don't play the man, play the ball. Is he wrong? Has Buhari not stifled his ministers? Did we not see more active government in 50 days under Osinbajo than we saw in the preceding 18 months under Buhari? Has government not returned to a standstill since Buhari came back?
It's simply a fact that Buhari's combination of stubbornness, inaction and ignorance has crippled even the best of his ministers. That is why even a talented and energetic person like Fashola has been reduced to the butt of jokes about him being a "minister of darkness": what can you do when your boss refuses to heed your good advice?
If you like, call me "IPOB" as well; you'll only make yourself look ridiculous, as I'm as far from being "IPOB" as it is possible to get. The difference between you and I is that I know bad government when I see it. I agree with you about Buhari being rather rigid, but I'm not sure I understand how exactly Buhari has/is preventing Fashola from working as you confidently claim.... And then again, how exactly did Fashola get more freedom under Osinbajo? |

igbozionism: but if this money truely belongs to NIA I don't think this probe is necessary. for the interest of the nations security this agency should remain as secret as they can and font deserve this public and media spotlight. this magu is over zealous and shouldn't be tampering with delicate matters of this magnitude. these probes can expose the field agents and ghosts of the agency who should have remained covet for their protection and that of their families. magu should be removed for this national disaster. Magu was simply doing his job by sniffing out moneys illegally stashed in various places; the NIA should have done a better job in concealing the cash. You cant blame the EfCC for efficiently doing its job. |

aboyaji: Let's check a scenerio where you worship in a particular church, but attend a ministry else where and decide to pay your Tithe. How wise would it be to split your tithe among those places of worship? I have a local church in my community which I previously attended, and which I know is in dire need of funds... Now I live in Abuja/Lagos/overseas and attend a mega church which is well to do. Out of simple wisdom, I would certainty be splitting my contributions 80:20 in favour of my old church. Anyone that says this is wrong lacks wisdom. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why It Is Treacherous To Disrespect Judas Iscariot - Nimi Princewill by obailala(m): 8:25am On Apr 23, 2017 |
PsychedeliQ: The Christian Easter festivities have hurriedly come and gone, but one name has remarkably stayed stuck on the lips of a large portion of Christians. As often the case every year, this mysterious name continues to grow even more popular than the celebrated occasion.
Judas Iscariot: A name notoriously synonymous with greed, betrayal and treason. A name heavily loathed by children, despised by adults and provides every preacher with a great point of reference to knock a sermon into shape, and get a sober audience nodding along. A name famous for the romantic public display of affection, which led to the vulnerable timely death of the guiltless Son of God.
A lot of Christians, continue to blackmail Judas Iscariot as the enemy, denying him of his rightful heroic street credibility!
The death and resurrection of Jesus as understood from the Bible, was already predestined to happen with a disciple of Jesus, setting the process into motion. Someone among the twelve disciples, had to do the dirty work! It was unfortunate, but quite heroic for Judas to be singled out by his heavenly recruiters to fit the job description.
The mountainous role played by Judas Iscariot in delivering his master into the hands of his captors (as widely condemned), laid the foundation in giving the Gospel a worldwide facelift, through the death and resurrection of Christ. If Judas hadn't done it, someone else would have stepped in on the job, and will just like Judas, suffer a posthumous tarnished reputation!
How else was Jesus meant to be captured? Any of you blackmailers got an idea?
Why doesn't the name 'Judas' align with contemporary birth names for male children?
Judas Iscariot, had his personal flaws like every other Christian did and currently do.
Paul (while as Saul) slaughtered an outrageous number of Christians. David, likewise his promiscuous son Solomon, was a man LovePeddler! Thomas, was recorded as a doubter and a man of great deficiency in faith. Peter, consciously denied Jesus three consecutive times (as was part of his destiny), and many others.
Christians forgave these men of despicable character and continued over the years to christen their kids after them, but just wouldn't do the same for a remorseful Judas Iscariot, who went as far as taking his own life in remorse for a crime he was already predestined to commit!
Aren't we as Christians, in a way possibly unknown to us, bias and plainly sentimental?
Judas Iscariot, deserves a lot more respect from the Christian community. As a matter of fact, in solidarity to this great heroic biblical figure, one of my boys will bear 'Judas' as a middle name when he arrives in the nearest future!
Twitter: @princewill_nimi Hahaha... I love this, someone making a case for bros Judas |

For example kids in the South West are very good with computer systems and software and Nigeria can become an international IT hub like India but lets not say it out so as not to promote the Yorubas because I am Igbo Yeah u are right, every tribe has its comparative advantage. But then, considering the endemic tribal issues on this forum and in the country generally, the way the case is presented matters a lot in order not to attract some needless bad blood/envy. |

Guyman02: The CBN spokesman mr Okoroafor called IMF request 'laughable', the Nigerian economy is better managed in the hands of Igbos (no tribal sentiment implied) because they will never ever trust the white man as sincere in his policies towards Africa and the British knew this which made them to ensure that power is skewed to the region that is more malleable. Igbos believe in home grown solutions to economic problems and not from any foreign group which tries to pretend to be more clever than Nigerians. Is this particular self adulation/encomium/patronisation really necessary?.... This is the exact sort of supremacist statements that fuels tribal envy/hate and the needless tribal fights. |

The ‘Aku Ruo Ulo’ campaign needs to be tattooed into the brains of Igbo businessmen. Where are people like Oga Ifeanyi (Capital) who keeps 'advising' govt that the solution to the current forex crisis is in modular refineries, is Oga Ifeanyi trying to tell us he can't quickly scramble a modular refinery himself somewhere in the SE?... Or does he have to wait till 2019/2020 when Dangote will run Capital O&G out of business (and then we resume the blame 'them' blame 'them' cries again)? |

989900: 2 are already on course: one in Ogun state, and another 200,000 barrels in the east . . . I think Akwa Ibom. Then a 20,000 barrels modular refinery by one Missouri company between Delta and Bayelsa.
Plus there is a little likelihood Mobil/Shell takes over or partners NNPC refineries.
Trust Nigerians and their "copy copy" syndrome, in 5-10 years from now we will hardly be exporting any more crude, only refined ones -- probably even importing crude to meet up our refineries needs.
5-10 years is a very long time I can assure you. With the ingrained culture of copy copy in Nigeria, everybody just waits for the first person to bell the cat before everyone else jumps on the boat. I can assure you that with the latest Dangote development, by 2020, Nigeria wouldn't export a drop of raw crude anymore; there would be an explosion of refineries by then, starting from even the existing NNPC refineries. |

Someone would mention millitancy! But does millitancy exist in Akwaibom too? Someone would mention access to the sea! Is there no ocean shore in akwaibom? Can't the port be developed? Can someone confidently name one Northerner or Southwesterner that has invested in the SE/SS except owning their oilwell?? But the SE/SS invest and own factories in the SW and North. Whaat kind of a Scam called country is this ?? The way we cry victim victim victim sometimes can be very ridiculous and I just cant figure out how even adults cant see the ridiculousness of this banter. From you last sentence above, you say the SE & SS invests in the SW and North, but the SW & North never do so in the SE & SS. The big question is, 'what stops the SS & SE from investing in the SS & SE?'.... Is it in every single situation that we get to blame, blame and blame others?... This wailing and blame game that's been going on for decades, how exactly has it helped the SE or SS? There's the ongoing ‘Aku Ruo Ulo’ campaign in the SE for businessmen and industrialists to 'think home'... When a person like Capt. Iheanacho who contested recently for the Imo state governorship decides to site his planned modular refinery in Badagry instead of some suitable location in the SE or SS, then i think the only wise thing to do is to engage in deep soul searching instead of these 'blame blame blame others' which seems to now be the ingrained culture in the SE (especially in recent times). |
