If governors asked for their entitlement of the ECA funds (which the FG was already pilfering from by the way), why could the FG not save its lion share (over 50%) of the ECA funds if it really had any intentions to save?

Nobody seems to be able to answer this question, most people just seem to dwell on the pointless blame game claiming "governors made the FG not to save"

Rice doesn't seem to be a crop which takes time to grow. All that seems to be needed is proper irrigation and excess land. With serious 'political will', I see no reason why Nigeria cant be self sufficient in rice production within 6 months; I also see no reason why other states with massive land can't do this.

The dullard makes people believe Jonathan did nothing in all his 5 years, why not acknowledge the good he did and lampoon him for the bad he did?
It's not just a Jonathan thing, and it shouldnt really be a buhari vs gej matter... this is an issue of successive past governments. Does Nigeria have an efficient, funtional rail system?... The answer is simply NO! Same way if I'm asked if we have power in Nigeria, my response would be NO!
PoliticsRe: $31.4m Cash Deposit: How Patience Jonathan Forced EFCC To Expose Matter by obailala(m): 11:27am On Sep 24, 2016
To the best of my knowledge, when politicians, 419ers, drug barons, gunrunners, oil bunkerers etc use multiple bank accounts to stash suspicious money, they do so to hide and protect their identities just in case the can of worms is exposed. What I do not understand about this Mama Peace's case is why she would come out and openly claim fraudulent money which is under investigation cos this action totally negates the essence of opening multiple cover-up accounts in the first place.

And then again, I watched an interview video on Channels TV of a supposed 'anti-corruption activist' who later confessed to be Mama P's lawyer; never in my life have I seen such a ridiculous display of emptiness from someone who claimed to be a lawyer, the man simply came on air to implicate Mama P with his pathetic incoherence. There is no doubt that the woman is a sacred cow and the govt/efcc is carefully avoiding to have to implicate any of the Jonathans, but I wonder who advises Mama P; Jonathan should really find a way to keep her indoors.

You need mental evaluation. Why must Ndiigbo accept APC? What have we gained from supporting presidents from all Nigerian zones in PDP with hope that they would one day reciprocate in kind and support an Igbo candidate?

Between 1999- date, Ndiigbo have supported a Yoruba president for 8yrs, a Northern president for 2.5 years, a South South president for 5yrs.

Has it put the Igbo in any of their good books?

If you are too stupid to smell the coffee, the rest of us aren't.
You know you could have passed your message without being abusive right?

Nobody is asking anybody to support apc; I only said if apc and Pdp are one and the same (as you agree with me), then why is there the hostile treatment against apc and while pdp receives a very warm treatment?

Meanwhile my comment was in response to someone who made a statement about buhari handing over to a non-southeasterner; that is definitely a certainty especially considering the kind of leprous treatment the SE has given apc before and after the last election.

Power is not given on a platter, it is taken, and to take power requires superior politicking, building of bridges and creating strong partnerships. The best chance of a SEastern presidency was blown when Yaradua died and when the SE politicians threw their weight 100% behind GEJ thereby destroying the PDPs zoning formula. Ordinarily by the pdp zoning arrangement, a southeasterner should have been the candidate after yaradua in 2015 and without that distortion to the zoning arrangement, Apc would have never seen the light of the day.

But now that is a past issue, it can still be remedied but only a huge miracle will make it happen as soon as in 2019 or 2023. Political bridges also need to be built because of the 3 major tribes in Nigeria, no single tribe can ever get anything without the support of at least one other big tribe. The Igbo nation today is sadly not building any political bridge.

Abagworo has not asked himself what will happen to him if Buhari handover power to another Northerner or Westerner.

I pity him by then.

May God save him from people's murderous angry.
But sometimes we need to tell ourselves the truth.. power is not given, it has to be taken, and to take power, you have to play very smart politics. With the way the Igbo nation outrightly rejected the Apc and treated it as if it was some kind of ebola patient, there is no way the apc can give the presidency to the SE after buhari. And with the pdp zoning their ticket to the north in 2019, that's another pure evidence that the chances of power coming to the SE is very slim.

For crying out loud, what's the difference between the PDP and Apc for APC to get that sort of treatment?

But this is exactly what I'm saying, SERAP isn't EFCC. EFCC would not prosecute except they have invited the person first for a chat/questioning first and the outcome of the questioning reveals the person has a case to answer.

blueto:
What about the plans to forfeit the funds into the TSA without inviting her for questioning in order to ascertain whether it was legitimately or illegitimately sourced?? http://punchng.com/efcc-wants-patience-jonathan-forfeit-15m/
Same thing I'm saying, efcc wouldn't be able to do that until they have established a clear case against her. They would still have to hear from her firstly before they can proceed on anything they 'PLAN' to do. Besides, the controversy surrounding the funds need to be acknowledged; the funds were found in the accounts of 4 different companies, but when frozen, PEJ claims it was her funds. Efcc cant do anything until the hear from her properly.

I think that quote is only for “animals”, because I'm a god, Psalm 82:6.

I don't remember seeing any statement by efcc that they intend to 'apprehend' patience jonathan, they wouldn't even be able to do that. Nigeria’s Currency Woes, a Blessing for Top Palm-Oil Producer

- Presco sales up 60% in first 6 months on rising local demand
- Company to increase palm-kernel oil exports to secure forex

Nigeria’s ban on importers accessing foreign exchange for certain products is proving a boon for the country’s biggest palm-oil producer as it stokes demand for domestic goods.

Profit at Presco Plc, a Benin City-based manufacturer of the edible oil, more than doubled in the six months through June as sales jumped 60 percent to 7.5 billion naira ($24 million), according to results published in July.

The outlook for the next four years is a 10 percent annual profit growth, Managing Director Felix Nwabuko said in a phone interview on Sept. 19 from the southern city. “The policy is bringing a boost to us in the sense that people who would ordinarily have imported, using government foreign exchange, are not doing that anymore,’’ he said.

Nigeria’s central bank stopped importers of 41 items, including palm-oil and textiles, from accessing official foreign-exchange markets in June 2015. The measure was part of a plan to prop up the naira after it plunged against the dollar following a drop in the price of crude, the country’s biggest source of foreign-exchange. A 15-month dollar peg that ended on June 20 caused a foreign currency shortage that contributed to West Africa’s biggest economy contracting in the first two quarters and drove inflation to the highest rate in more than a decade.

The peg removal led the naira to weaken 37 percent against the dollar. That hasn’t improved the availability of U.S. currency and most foreign investors are yet to return. Presco also faces challenges from the dollar scarcity as it imports fertilizers, chemicals and equipment including spare parts for plants, to increase output. Obtaining foreign-exchange “is tough -- some months you don’t get, sometimes you get a little bit of what you need,” Nwabuko, 61, said. “Twenty percent of our cost is foreign currency driven.”

Kernel-Oil Exports

The company, which operates 16,900 hectares (41,761 acres) of palm-oil plantations and sells its output locally, plans to increase the export of palm-kernel oil to Europe, mainly the Netherlands, to enable it access dollars and cushion the impact of the scarcity in Nigeria, Nwabuko said. “Looking into the situation we are in now and into the future, it makes good business sense to do that.”

Exports contributed 5 percent of revenue from January to August and the company plans to increase palm-kernel crushing capacity to 100 tons daily by 2018, from 60 tons currently.

Presco doesn’t plan to export palm-oil as “it has enough market locally and price comparison-wise, there is no real advantage in exporting palm-oil out of Nigeria,” the MD said. The company plans to increase oil-palm plantation to 31,400 hectares by 2021 from 16,900 while it targets to raise palm-oil mills capacity to 120 tons per hour from 60 tons, Nwabuko said. It will start work on a 500 tons per day palm-oil refinery and fractionation plant next year, which will be completed by 2018 to increase current capacity of 100 tons, he said.

‘Strong Demand’

Nigeria’s demand for palm oil is greater than its output. It consumed 1,405,000 tons in 2013 while it produced 930,000 tons, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Despite the economic downturn, its population of 180 million remains an attraction for Presco, the MD said. “The demand for our products is there, whether for food or industrial use,’’ Nwabuko said, adding that the company supplies fats and oils to some of Nigeria’s biggest manufacturers including PZ Cussons Plc, Dangote Industries Ltd. and May & Baker Nigeria Plc.

Nigeria produced 930,000 tons of palm oil in 2013 and the forecast for the 2016-2017 season is 970,000 tons, making it Africa’s largest producer and the world’s fifth, behind Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Colombia, according to data from the USDA.

No wonder people like this voted in the certificateless cattle rearer.
Mynd44:
No. According to the anti-money laundering bill, and trnsfer of abive a certain amount of money must be reported by the bank to the ICPC nad EFCC. It is the law.
To add to what Mynd has said, it isn't just a law in Nigeria alone, just about every reasonable country in the world has this very same money laundering law, it was just never taken serious in Nigeria. If you suddenly make a transaction of a certain value, your bank is required to inform the anti-graft agency. The anti-graft agency also has a right to call/invite you for questioning, and you will never be harassed once you explain how you came about the money.

I'm surprised at this Ben Bruce's statement, when i opened this thread i thought I was going to read something good. This is just sanity being instilled in a system and it's strange why a lot of people are averse to this development, or do we just prefer a lawless society?

blueto:
The Problem is our imports surpasses our exports now than before, I remember when Jonathan was the president, he made effective pro-people policies that ensure farming goods were abundantly produced, so they were able to raise the Nigerian exports. I believe there is no country that is independent, even China, they also import, but the problem is allowing imports to surpass exports. As a result of the contraction, foreign firms have liquidized, so they need forex to move their liquid capital out of the nation. Did you read the news of how MTN moved about $12b out of Nigeria? where did they source the simoleon from?

And also, foreign investors are now deterred of investing because if the harsh business environment, poor infrastructure, lack of basic amenities, multiple taxations, unfavorable forex policies and so on. they now resorts to buying bonds instead of making investments thay will see them inject more to the FX reserves. This admimistration needs more people like Emefiele, thank God Buhari didn't sack him, like he did to some other technocrats that GEJ appointed.
Such is what happens when a nation relies on one commodity for 92% of its forex inflow, Nigeria is learning a very bitter lesson presently and there may be no fast route out of this mess. The best bet to get out of this mess is to boost manufacturing; solve Nigeria's power issue and you would have solved 50% of our problems... With power, manufacturing would pick up with a massive leap and so will our exports. The last time i checked, the momentum gained in agriculture in the last regime has not subsided, agro production is still on the increase but the fact is that agriculture alone cannot turn our fortunes around, 'adding value' to agricultural produce is what can do the trick, but power is needed for that.

With the proliferation of lazy and dubious bloggers all over the place in Nigeria, smart people typically do a quick sense-check of what they read online especially as we have more falsehood circulating in cyberspace presently.

I've been asking you all day to rationalise the story you swallowed regarding the purported 20,000km of roads built by GEJ; 20,000km isn't 20km which could be hidden from public view, roads aren't economic statistics which can be hidden in paper, if there are even 10,000km roads built, it would be seen by all. I thought the idea of this free 5k had since been jettisoned?... Isn't this the exact mistake made by the last admin?.. releasing and spending trillions of the nation's cash without any major capital projects to show for the amount of moneys spent?... Spending billions to give people fish, instead of channelling the money to ventures that can enable the masses to fish for themselves. Wrong move, very wrong ill thought move.

Whynotthetruth:
1)I saw you insulting a guy yesterday while arguing with rozaxy or something like that...about your high IQ...and unfortunately you wrote this...smh

2)Read again and plead with someone to explain to you before you type plzzz...

3)Which exchange rate do we convert our domestic currency to again biko...? Domestic debt is in our local currency bro...so Buhari has almost borrowed Nigeria into the ground in a year...

4)This thread is about Buhari not Jonathan ; your hated scapegoat and whipping bag...Btw Nigeria earned more from oil under Jonathan...who Coincidentally paid MORE salaries than any of his predecessors(19500-NYSC & 18000 for civil servants)...and had MORE empowerment program than any of his predecessors and even immediate successor Buhari... Yes, Buhari has stopped YOUWIN, PRESSID etc which were all active and took lots of fund under Jonathan...Facts on ground as confirmed by APC Fashola(Minister of Works); also showed that Jonathan did almost 5times as much as his predecessors in road construction etc...so why are you convulsing here?

5)If you think Soludo, Utomi etc maybe for political reasons lied in blaming Buhari as the reason why Nigeria is in recession...what about Bloomberg writers and other world economists ? They all agreed that Buhari's wrong and archaic policies forced Nigeria into recession...A fit he achieved in 1984 as well but bigotry has blinded you to the truth...

6)Why didn't reply me on the Anambra thread so that we do a comparative analysis of our respective states? cheesy Those who have your kind of men need no poison again ...
C'mon will you quit all these your masturbating.. oh yeah I made that comment a bit too quickly b4 I properly read the report and being away since ystrday, I just woke up to this long trail of yabs from you and your co-travellers mentuining me all over the place... una try well well..

I just need to clarify some things in your No. 4 and No. 5 above. Firstly, GEJ did not build any 5-times more roads than any other leader... It was one of those ikebe super blogs who made that baseless report and they had to lie about it using fasholas name claiming he said "gej built 21,000km of good roads." The first question anyone should ask is gow many kilometres of federal roads fo we even have in Nigeria and this 21000km of roads built by gej, how come they are nowhere to be found in reality except on paper? .. anyway, Fash has since debunked that gutter report as a joke.

Regarding the recession, experts have only said buhari with the right actions could have eased the recession. The action everyone keeps pointing to still remains the pegging of the currency till june. If you go back and read those statements by the foreign journals, they always acknowledge the crash in oil price and the crash in Nigeria's production as the mother cause of the downturn; they then go further to say some actions/inactions of govt made it worse. But obviously, people with a prejudiced heart only choose to see the later part cos it suits your narrative.

Obiano is paying workers before buhari self every month..
We arent talking of obiano, we are talking of your state governor... meanwhile it means nothing if salaries are paid on the 25th or 30th or 15th, what matters is if a governor regularly pays salaries monthly.

Destroy our country in all fronts. This man, this group. No genuine plan for the future at all.
... if you want to know who really destroyed our country on all fronts, go and ask how much was Nigeria's debt as at May 2010 and also ask how much was this debt as at May 2015. Just FYI, this period between 2010 to 2015 was when Nigeria made its highest income but also the time it incurred devastatingly high debts; even money was borrowed to pay salaries at the time. The truth is painful for sure..
