cocoduck:Sorry nobody here was born today, but in your spare time kindly ask yourself, those youths who vandalised shoprite warri for instance, does that help or damage the economy of the city?.... I pray we all receive wisdom. |
Chiznonso:My Chiznonso, I have read through several of your comments on this thread. I'm afraid, I wouldn't be able to stoop to your mental level to engage in any form of exchange with you. My sincere apologies, thanks. |
So according to Reno and his flock of co-travellers, Oby should have still just supported GEJ irrespective of how irresponsible his government was? It's now official, jonathanians will never move on from 2015; a life long scar has been engraved in their hearts ![]() |
signz:A lot of people who have never stepped foot in a place like Warri obviously do not get the message the writer is passing across. The point being made is that if agitations must be done, there are smarter ways to agitate without blowing your own feet off. This case isn't all about oil because not only oil companies are caught in this mess. Just mid last year, Shoprite which has opened numerous branches in different parts of Nigeria launched a new branch in Warri. After the whole funfair and all, just in a matter of months, the services of shoprite warri were disrupted, the place was vandalised and looted by the same rampaging youths and these are the exact acts many oblivious folks rush online to ddefend and glorify because they think everything is about oil and everything is about hausa or what not. The point here is simple, the social problem goes way beyond oil. |
Bubewilson:As massive and industralised and advanced as China is, they produce up to 75% of their electicity from coal and they are still building new plants. As massive and developed as the USA is, they still happily produce over 40% of their electricity from coal. Germany is currently constructing some massive new coal plants as we speak even though they are one of the loudest campaigners of clean energy. Only a country like the UK just succeeded in shutting down its last coal plant recently. In general, up to 40% of the world's electricity comes from coal, yet you think Nigeria which can't even crawl should be thinking of flying first? |
It's a sad story... When the attack dogs have no more opponents to munch, they turn around on the children of their own masters and consume them. This aptly explains the case of 'deve' in warri which started with foreigners who owned companies, and then non-indigenes owning companies and then non-indigenes just building personal houses... When it persisted, people who should have been in position to talk to the youths or halt the retrogressive trend remained mute. It was typical to hear patronising statements like "the youths are angry cos they have no jobs" .. The monster was allowed to grow unchecked until the same 'youths' began forcefully demanding 'deve' from even indigenes and even the government wasnt spared. Government wants to build a road or a hospital, it would be required to pay 'deve' first before contractors are allowed on site. I remember the ugly saga when Ibori wanted to construct the Warri city stadium, he vehemently refused to pay the rampaging youths and had to litter the project site with a multitude of mobile policemen till the job was completed.Such is the foolishness that crippled the town; recently even shoprite was attacked and vandalised and looted by some lazy 'youths'... Everything in the town is dead presently, numerous companies have fled and even the NPA seaport was crippled by this exact attitude. For a company like Shell to leave, it was the nail on the coffin of Warri as a 'formerly' booming economic town. But anyway, the mental power of the set of youths we have today doesnt go beyond making claims like "Hausas and Yorubas are responsible for the flight of industries from the niger delta.... in fact we must punish buhari by destroying further and chasing away more investments." Perhaps the youths who vandalised delta mall / shoprite were also fighting injustice against buhari even as some educated ones joined and cheered on. Meanwhile, some persons bitten by this mumu bug have already arrived the thread with the mumu virus. |
nyben4eva:So much for this convenient unverifiable excuse of GEJ doing plenty projects in the north. Apart from a couple of almajiri schools built, what exactly are these plenty projects in the north?... FYI, I'm not disputing that projects were done, I'm just curious to know what the projects are. Regarding the PH-Enugu road, I wonder where you got the impression from that the road isnt going to be attended to. |
amagunnerfan:My point is that we should be very careful how we start praising politicians too early.. |
NOETHNICITY:Me I just tire for that guy and his ilk.... According to the dude and his co-travellers, they believe GEJ is a demi-god and even with the magnetude of the sleaze exposed so far, their shallowness still makes them believe gej was rejected because he was a minority. And then one begins to wonder whether GEJ was from a majority in 2010/2011 when Nigerians from all works of life and tribes/ethnicities rallied around him and made him president. |
Michel2013:Like I said, you are simply showcasing the limits of your mental prowess. Nothing more needs to be said. |
TooNoisy:Why are you so sure Fashola doesnt understand the problems in the power sector?... It is one thing to understand a problem, it is another thing entirely to solve that problem quickly. The monumental demonic problems in the power sector has defied even the finest brains, do you really think these demonic impediments can be solved in a twinkle of an eye? Unfortunately the privatisation has already been done and we may just have to work on it like that. Reversing this privatisation may set us back another 10 years, cos that's about the period it may take to settle all the legal disputes that |
Michel2013:The limit of your brain power is aptly captured in your lame attempt at tribal labelling; you think everyone is equally shallow-minded and petty enough to follow the ethnic/tribal route in everything, hence you already think you know exactly where I am from just based on my political choice. Meanwhile for persons within this your weird ideological realm, everything must have a tribal/ethnic/clannish colouration; hence you believe everyone who opposed the return of GEJ's government (even with the putrid sleaze it represented) must have done so for ethnic reasons. Wonderful way to reason! |
This article stinks of sycophancy... These guys should allow the man work and deliver what he can before they start these unsolicited praise singing.. egwekwe:Fixing of one extremely bad portion of a road isn't the same as fixing the whole road. The road is still horrible between Ore and Sagamu. |
Michel2013:Tell these your tales to the birds, the ipob agitation gained prominence only because GEJ lost the freaking election, not because of all these trashy theories you and many other buhari haters are giving here. Obj locked up Uwazuruike of massob in a cage for God knows how long but nobody raised an eyebrow. GEJ also sanctioned the arrest of several massob men and they were treated like pieces of trash and not a single person cared; one wouldn't forget in a hurry the case of several incarcerated massob members who were summarily executed by the police extrajudicially in the Ezu river case but nobody raised an eyebrow. Nnamdi kanu had been out there spewing trash on his radio waves but nobody ever took him serious not until gej lost an election and the hatred for buhari from the very first day automatically turned millions into die-hard admirers of the hitherto ignored kanu... once again, tell these your buhari hatred stories to the birds.... and may I remind you that this isnt an ipob thread please. |
TheDEVlLHimseIf:Obviously this one has no idea of the meaning of the word he just used.. ![]() |
The exact inane characters Omojuwa described instantly invaded the thread with their inanities. Such predictable pathetic souls.. ![]() |
FunkyMetahuman:If I'm not mistaken, that picture put up by the Op isnt mambilla. |
Lol... why people dey attack the Op? ![]() |
jelal007:What led to this exchange was you alleging that pmb was stubbornly refusing to borrow but has now eventually capitulated. Meanwhile it has never been a hidden fact (since last year) that the FG planned to borrow to plug the 2016 budget deficit. You were corrected on that simple point, instead of dying the topic, you proceeded to rant about buhari this buhari that... Look man, we all know times are hard but put yourself together and quit directionless wailing. |
jelal007:I am speaking for myself, if the existence of a person called buhari dey vex u too much, go and drink ogogoro to help urself. |
jelal007:Simple advice to you, when you want to criticise, do so with the use of simple facts and do so sensibly. There are too many gaffes out there that can be criticised so i see no reason why you choose to foam in the mouth over a baseless falsehood. |
Hiploko:To he whom brain is given, sense is expected. I'm quite sure you have a brain in your head. Several headlines on reported loot have been reported by journalists et al. But for any lettered person who has spared a few seconds to read beyond sensational headlines, it has always been reported that only N78 billion is the actual cash which is in hand, whilst all other funds are still subject of litigation. Now that you have refused to use your brain to comprehend this simple piece of info, that is nobody's fault but yours. Thank you! |
jelal007:Nowhere did I mention or insinuate that PMB is doing everything or anything right; except it is blind opposition that's muddling your eyesight or comprehension, I wonder how you came about that conclusion. Yes things are tight in the country and the government isn't living up to expectations, but when we criticise, can we can at least try to do so decently without having to sound like we're just wailing directionlessly? jelal007:You and several others on the thread have painted a picture as if there was ever a time the govt said it wasn't going to borrow; meanwhile this is a govt that has announced over and over again since late last year that it was going to finance up to 30% of the 2016 budget through borrowing. What exactly did you mean by saying "The man is just being a stubborn mule"? |
bayelsaowei:Even if they steal under his nose (which is an inevitable situation in a nation of thieves), whatever is stolen can never be compared with the level at which it was happening under the last guy; in fact the last guy didn't even see anything wrong in it so that gives you a clear picture. |
Michel2013:Are you lost?.. can't you see the title of this thread?... Why don't you kindly go and open an ipob thread please and then you can discuss your ipob matters there.. |
buffalowings:Contracts for the standard gauge Lagos-Kano line, and the Lagos to Calabar line were only just signed 2 weeks ago. |
Lool... Pastor Omokri |
anonimi:Kudos to the person who gave you that quote, at least it masks the real picture and helps you sleep at night. ![]() |
bayelsaowei:Truth of the matter is that, the only thing buhari truly knows how to do is to be tight-fisted. So assuming he even did no diversifying, moneys released for projects would be used for projects, we wouldn't be hearing stories of how money released to pay contractors ends up in someone's bank account and we wouldn't be watching helplessly how every tom dick and harry just buys private jets at the expense of our roads and other relevant infrastructure. If only half of the moneys signed off for projects by GEJ were actually spent for the projects, Nigeria would have been miles ahead by now and we would have had substantial infrastructure in place to help us weather this oil crash recession; that was my only grouse with GEJ. |
anonimi:Do you have a little mirror? |
Johnrake69:1. I never insinuated in anyway that corruption started under GEJ. But you can quote me very well on this, 'corruption and looting reached a devilishly disastrous peak during the time of GEJ.' That's the reason why even though he enjoyed the highest uninterrupted oil income boom, he happens to be about one of the only Nigerian leaders who instead of growing our reserves commensurately, he depleted it disastrously. Just for your info, the amount of income Nigeria made within the 5 years of GEJ was well more than the total oil income Nigeria has made under every other president since 1958 till 2016 put together. If only a lot of people who defend this sleaze know the true extent of the destruction, I doubt even his children would want to defend him. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/08/jonathan-nigeria-earned-n51trillion-crude-oil/ Among the oil producing nations, Nigeria is the only nation in recessionSorry to say but this is a very very ignorant statement. You have the access to the internet and google, do a simple research. Now, about the forex issue, I guess you never came across the statement from Sanusi that described the current Fx regime.SLS criticised the pegging of the currency and highlighted the loopholes in the policy. SLS did not downplay or deny that there was a major economic crisis caused by an over 60% drop in oil prices. |
buffalowings:The only modern rail service in Nigeria currently is the Abuja to Kaduna route, it supports trains up to speeds of 100-150km/hr. Other train services, i.e. the refurbished Lagos-Kano or PH to Makurdi etc are still pre-1960 archaic narrow gauge rail systems which can barely support train speeds up to 40km/hr. That's why you hear things like 32hr journeys. |
