anonimi:No insult intended but this is a very silly question and you can only be pardoned if you are a kid or an illiterate artisan on the streets. Only people who still ask this question are those who have wilfully decided to block their brains (for whatever reasons) or people who are just naturally unintelligent. The hardest man to wake is the one faking his sleep, even if you are told 1000 times, your brain will never be able to comprehend, so there's really no point responding to your silly question. However, strictly for the benefit of others who may be reading this, only roughly ~N78 billion has been recovered so far, and every sane mind knows that is not the sort of amount that can finance the budget deficit. Trillions sitting in the accounts of indicted suspects have however been frozen even as court cases are still ongoing; one doesn't need formal education or special wisdom to know the government cannot touch these moneys under litigation. |
jelal007:Sometimes I do not know whether it's just natural ignorance, or whether it's just a prejudiced filled heart that induces people to make ignorant statements like the bolded above... Is this the first time you are hearing that the FG is going to borrow to finance the N2 trillion deficit in the 2016 budget?... |
sarutobie:Go hang urself, thou wailer! |
WTF!! |
sarutobie:If only you could reason with that thing inside your skull instead of the tiny orifice between your two rear lobes, it would have been clear to you that you just said nothing now. |
buffalowings:Trains capable of travelling at speeds up to 100-150km/h, and standard gauge rails capable of supporting these rails cannot exactly be termed slow trains can they? With the exception of super fast trains in few places like Japan, Spain etc., speeds of 100-150km/h are a standard all over the developed world. |
Hiploko:Coming from a person whose own definition of 'meaningful contribution' is probably to throw insults, make baseless ignorant criticisms and give pointless analysis devoid of reasoning, I'm sorry to dissappoint you, I wouldn't be making any 'meaningful contribution' any time soon. |
How I just wish this oil price disaster never happened, the true effects of corruption would have been clearly seen but instead today we hear people ignorantly saying things like "bring back our corruption" because during the time of unfettered corruption, life was easier. These ones have no clue about the effect of oil price, or probably like many others, they've been told that the drop in oil price isn't a weighty issue but that buhari is the one swallowing forex. It's even particularly sad that even educated folks also say this. |
jessiecah:I swear... she was fine as pawpaw and she's also fine as an ebony. Too bad she just chose to be controversial. |
Filling stations joining tanker drivers to protest?... This is simple opportunism. |
All I see on this thread are just a bunch of pathetic wailers doing what they know how to do best; wail and throw insults foolishly... Nigeria is currently in a dire situation and needs all the money it can get, borrowing has since been mapped out as the way forward but even getting the lenders to release money seems to have been a problem. Everyone knows borrowing from the imf/worldbank isnt favourable and the nation has tried to avoid that situation. But with things getting tougher and people going hungry, the govt seems to have run oit of options and may have to eventually resort to these same exploitative lot. Now how anyone who is a Nigerian sees this unfortunate development as something to be excited over is beyond me; probably just getting another opportunity to throw insults around is what excites some folks. Such wastes! |
ekhai:Lol.. na wa!.. did you just say I'm anti-bayelsa?... I might not be right but from the best of my knowledge, just dig 30 feet into the ground in most south south cities and you would hit fresh water. In warri for instance, you could dig a clean fresh water well in less than 50 feet. |
Elbowroom:What does school have to do with anything here? Even presidents who move around with full brigade of guards are still ambushed. |
What if Buratai is ambushed and ***** in this visit? #JustThinking ![]() |
todayboy:Why should he allow fulani to shout him down?... even if they shout him down, why couldnt he use twitter to harp in it?... at least the last time I checked, everything he says on twitter still gets to the public. |
IVORY2009:Why shouldnt he?... The man has engaged in loads of meaningless criticisms both on and off twitter which can best be classified as 'pointless wailing.' This one on TSA sounds meaningful/constructive; this is the sort of things he should be saying in the floor of the NASS before its implementation, not 1 year after. |
Olukat: FunkyMetahuman:See them, typical Nigerian youths; they read only title and proceed to drop comments. www.nairaland.com/attachments/4011850_4004457asoldierwithawhippursuingsomebodyusethisgififyouseeauselesspostjpegfaabe749e08592f59893225a6876e150_jpegc87acb7de2d76a8992e7642d98ce3945 |
Lol... this one is gradually becoming the new clown. ![]() |
rhames:Second levy was importation tax. Go listen again. |
Someone is trying to shade someone.. politics! ![]() But water shouldn't be a problem to communities virtually living in water. ![]() |
Importation tax ![]() |
Second tenon ![]() |
Why didnt oga Bruce raise this suggestion on the floor of the senate when the TSA was being kickstarted? |
I just can't say whether I should be laughing over this but this is bloody hilarious ![]() https://mrwgifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Black-Man-Laughing-In-The-Bath-Tub-Drinking-a-40oz-Beer.gif |
From the very first day these trains were launched, I already said it that the greatest recipe for disaster was for the government (NRC or whatever) to be responsible for operating the trains instead of the private sector. These trains could be a revenue generator for the government (as is the case globally), but I don't need onatisi or any other soothsayer to tell me the new trains would be another overbearing public liability draining government resources on a yearly basis. I give it only a couple of years (even before 2019), the trains would be killed by poor maintenance and the entire rail system would be buried by inept management. Nothing managed by government ever works in Nigeria, it is not an insult, it is just a fact, and if these trains and the rail system must survive, they should be concessioned 100% to private companies who can run them at a profit and pay appropriate taxes to government. The only sector which seems to be working effectively in the country are the petroleum sector (operated mainly by foreign multinationals and indigenous private firms) and the telecommunications sector (also managed by private profit oriented investors). The first error which highlighted the impending doom for these new trains was the FG fixing fares and playing politics with it. This may sound strange and silly to many but a fare of N900/N600/N500 is extremely cheap for high speed comfortable air-conditioned trains by world standards. Except the government plans to run the trains as a non-profit subsidised charity, the present model where a minister for transport just arbitrarily fixes fares (after a political meeting) is completely disastrous. In the UK for instance, high speed train transport is even cheaper than flying, and all trains are run by private corporations. Nigeria should have already learnt enough lessons from Nigeria airways to NITEL to NEPA to NPA etc. I pray the government receives sense! |
Time for some losers to start foaming in the mouth over this woman now.... I can already see them pouring in... |
izzou:If he built a refinery of this scale somewhere else, he could have made the money much faster. But then I agree with you, even though he doesnt make the bucks as quickly or as easily as his mates, upon completion, he will instantly send them all out of business, and that's good foresight. You cant however completely rule out his passion for country. |
Nwaiberibe:mba amarom the meaning. But it sounds like one sickness which I've noticed many people on this forum are suffering from, #Iberiberism ![]() |
izzou:Do you know why all the refineries in Nigeria are dead?.... it's because the government in collaboration with big businessmen killed the refineries so they can import fuel and make trillions from subsidies. Most of these so called devilish businessmen (including some leaders) actually stole money from Nigeria and built refineries in other countries from where they refine and import fuel to Nigeria and get massive subsidy payments; at a point, even Ibori was rumoured to have a refinery in south africa (a non-oil producing nation). So coming back to Dangote, if Dangote was like every other businessman who was only out to make money even at the monumental detriment of Nigeria, Dangote could have made much more money locating his refinery outside Nigeria and joining the fuel import crew, but he did the opposite which no single businessman has done till date. |
Nwaiberibe:Ur username speaks volumes ![]() |
It has gotten to the point where some now celebrate when armed robbers kill policemen. ![]() |
I thought someone authoritatively reported today that Rochas was re-slapped by the ghost and he has returned abroad? |
