BluntTheApostle: If we want to be sincere with ourselves, we won't go for any of the three major contenders.
While two are widely regarded as thieves, the third is a clever thief.
Elections aren't all about voting just any candidate; it's also imperative to vote frontline candidates who have been thoroughly scrutinised by all and who have the capacity to actually win the election. Besides the 3-4 frontrunners, the other candidates haven't been scrutinised and also dont have a chance of winning; so they are inconsequential in this very important election.
Whilst you may want to push the narrative that "Obi is also flawed", the big question is, amongst the 3 frontrunners, who is best suited for the job given their antecedents (with a focus on Character, Capacity and Competence)?
Like I said before, in terms of CHARACTER (corruption, embezzlement, profligacy, mindless wastage and plunder, thuggery, bribery, dishonesty etc.), everyone knows Obi is literally a SAINT when compared with the other 2 top contenders. You might dislike Obi for whatever personal reason(s), but Nigerians are not fools and they know the truth. This explains why the bulk educated and enlightened Nigerians are rooting for Obi over Atiku and Tinubu; the evidence of this can be seen in how Obi wins every online and even offline opinion poll with a landslide (note that the participants of those polls are drawn mainly from the educated and enlightened section of society). Tinubu and Atiku are strictly relying on votes from villages/rural areas where the voters are largely illiterate and unexposed, and can easily be swayed by ethnic/religious sentiments and cheap bribes.
Again, there's no point arguing with you on this because you know the truth but will likely stick with your choice for reasons best known to you.
BluntTheApostle: So have the others like Atiku, Tinubu, and Kwankwaso.
I bet you don't know the meaning of character. You might want to check a dictionary.
No one has been able to pin corruption or embezzlement on Tinubu either.
So, you support a lack of transparency and a lack of morals exhibited by Peter Obi?
With this obvious lack of transparency, one can wonder how Obi became wealthy. His parents were ordinary traders. Where did Obi get his billions from? How did he become rich?
Undeclared offshore accounts have many ethical implications. The question I ask is if I can trust my money with someone who lacks honesty.
But Obi is supposed to be different, or have you all forgotten your narrative?
If every wealthy man stashes wealth in tax havens, and Obi does too, then what is the assurance that he doesn't do other terrible things that some wealthy men do, such as money laundering, or even drug peddling?
Indeed, Atiku and Tinubu were mentioned, but no one scrutinized them because their supporters never claimed them to be different.
Go and read about conflict of interest. It is illegal in the United States, and even in places where the law is silent, it is considered highly unethical.
Do not also forget the many other conflict of interests of Peter Obi, including the awarding of 100 million naira to his campaign manager and associate for the reconstruction of Governor's Office Complex, Awka.
Tinubu does not have a corruption toga on him. Define corruption, and tell me how Tinubu was corrupt?
Always, the typical Igbo person never fails to display their persecution complex.
In terms of corruption, embezzlement, profligacy, mindless wastage and plunder, lootocracy, thuggery, bribery, dishonesty etc etc, even a deaf, blind and mental impaired person in Nigeria knows that Obi is a SAINT when placed side-by-side with Tinubu and Atiku. So there's no point arguing with you on this because you know the truth (whether you acknowledge it or not).
What has he said that has distinguished him from the other runners?
He has pointed this out in countless interviews, townhalls, campaign speeches etc.
He has the 3-Cs of Character, Capacity and Competence. Other frontrunners also have Capacity and Competence, but the key 'C' which separates Obi from the others is 'Character'.
If you can put away sentimental attachments (which may be influenced by political affiliation or ethnicity or religion), you will agree with me that the other frontrunners have stained records of corruption and embezzlement of public funds. No one has been able to pin corruption or embezzlement on Obi despite how hard they've tried since 2019.
That explains why the only thing his opponents can come up with after several years of brutal scrutiny are: "he has an offshore account and he invested state funds in a company where his family has shares".
Both cases arent crimes; having an offshore account is something every wealthy person does to reduces excess taxation (not a single person has been able to accuse him that he stole the money he put in those accounts). And guess what, both Tinubu and Atiku were also mentioned as having similar offshore accounts (but not a single person scrutinises them on that because we all agree that 'Character isnt something they can brag about').
Regarding the shares, that again is not a crime. He invested in a publicly listed functional company, and the money still belongs to the state. Anybody, invluding you and I can buy shares in those companies. If it were a crime, his opponents would have since crucified him for that.
Whether we like it or not, I'm sure you agree with me that Obi doesnt have the corruption toga around his neck (unlike other frontrunners). As unfortunate as this may sound, the only problem with Obi is that he's an Igbo man, and in the minds of many unfortunately, an Igbo man isnt worthy to be the president of Nigeria. But this devilish stereotype must be defeated for Nigeria to move forward.
BluntTheApostle: So, Obi will come, and inflation will end gbam?
Continue to wait for miraculous transformation.
While other countries took years to get to where they are, you expect one Obi to do wonders in a country battling 1000% inflation.
No intelligent person is expecting Obi to turn Nigeria to Dubai overnight. What we expect of him, and what we believe he can do, is to tilt Nigeria in the RIGHT DIRECTION for progress.
Given the lootocratic antecedents of Tinubu and Atiku, they cannot be trusted with our collective patrimony at such a critical time in our nationhood.
00FFT00: May I ask you, for what reason was Deborah Samuel publicly lynched and roasted by people of Tinubu's religious fate?. What exactly was her offense?
Go and ask the people that killed her. Like I said, stop turning logic on it's head because of politics. Grow up!
dustmalik: Even though you support Obi, yet you are objective. That's how politics should be.
I think it all boils down to maturity - A lot of people think politics must be about attacking and insulting anything the opponent says or does, regardless of whether the attack makes sense or not.
May God just allow this man win the election. It would send a very powerful message and shock wave across Africa and the black world that leadership and politics of 'big-manism' (a.k.a. Plutocracy) can be defeated.
Starting from Cameroon, the day Obi is announced winner of the election, that is the day the people in Cameroon will rise up and kick that old 'fossil' out of power and into an old person's care home. The day Obi is announced winner is the day the people of Uganda will wake up too to kick out their forefather who believes he owns their country.
A Peter Obi victory will not be a victory for Nigeria alone, it will be a victory for the entire Africa and black race; it would be symbolic as the second independence of Africa.
POS operators make the list of the most important small businesses which make life extremely convenient and pleasurable for large population of Nigerians. Preventing access to them in residential areas will stand out as the first major foolish decision of our decision makers in this 2023.
When Peter Obi said Nigeria can save an unbelievable amount of money by simply cutting wasteful expenses, this is exactly what he was talking about. You will be amazed at how many billions could be saved if these little N500m are saved here an there. Our politicians are terribly wicked, this is the same KAtsina where millions are living in abject poverty.
THis is clearly the reason these guys will never support a person like Obi to be incharge at Aso Rock, but the GOd of NIgerians will frustrate them!
LordAdam16: There it is. You're perfectly fine with Tinubu and APC continuing after Buhari's 8 years. Now who is the Joker?
Anyway, in less than 40 days, it'd be over. And then it'd be back to complaining about bad governance after backing a neophyte who can't win and your second choice being a senile drug dealer with incontinence.
And you get mind dey call other people enemies of this country.
LordAdam16: Yes, I'm unwavering in my support for PDP. Until they make a bigot like Kwankwaso or El-Rufai their flagbearer.
I'd take Atiku over Tinubu. And Obi is siphoning Atiku's votes.
It is naivete to expect Obi to beat Tinubu. As it was naïve to expect Buhari to perform.
You're consistent in that you make perfect the enemy of good.
In 2015, you fought against Jonathan even though he was going to handover to Ribadu who would have handed over to Obi (as he was being groomed by Jonathan to be the next Southern President). And now you're backing the spoiler who'd give Tinubu 8 years. After which some disastrous Northerner like Ganduje becomes the GCFR.
But as long as you feel better about your choices, you don't think about the implications.
-Lord
Huh? I make the perfect enemy of good?
So in your mind, Atiku a know fraudster and lootocrat is what you refer to as 'good' in comparison to an Obi?
I never knew you were such a joker. Instead of you to just say you want your People Deceiving People Party to win so perhaps you may be given an appointment to join in the looting of our common patrimony, you're here pontificating of how Atiku is better than Obi? ..
After 8 years of a Fulani president, you want another Fulani president to take over for 8 years? The nation can go to blazes as long as you get your chance to participate in the plunder with your fraudulent PDP party? If Obi wasnt in the race, I'd rather have a Tinubu and APC win and become president over your Atiku and devilish PDP.
God will disappoint all you enemies of this country. Against all your devilish wishes which you brandish as 'wisdom', Obi will win to all your disappointments.
highchief1: ur dg was indicted for theft keep defending mediocrity.Go to google and check best performed governors in Nigeria and show us the place of Obi.I am not voting any of them but saint Obi is not a goal.
So I am the LP DG? So I and millions of other OBIDIENTS support Obi cos we are looking for appointment? Go and re-read what you wrote again and ask yourself whether it makes any sense to you?
highchief1: I have not interfaced with the millions I am telling u of the person I chatted with.Mind u I am not in Nigeria I’m not voting I do not also care who wins. But I know OBIDIENTs are those angry that they are not benefiting from pdp or apc govt.In Nigeria, when a system favors us it’s called connection when it doesn’t it’s called corruption.Obi is castigating a system he was part of 6 months ago.if pdp had given him ticket he wouldn’t have been castigating them.I don’t live like that bro.
You claim you havent met the millions of people campaigning for Obi, you claim you met only one who is a hungry political jobber looking for pittance, but in your wisdom you think its sensible to then assume that the millions of people supporting Obi are hungry charlatans looking for payouts?
highchief1: yes it’s investment for them.I have someone who is currently pumping money into the movement believing if Obi entered he will get a juicy appointment.these are his words. Are you really hoping those guys really want to save Nigeria?
So the millions of Nigerians voting obi on all social media polls , the multitude of supporters who were attending Obi street walks, the thousands screaming in those churches Obi visited etc, you're basically saying they all support Obi cos they want Obi to give them juicy appointmens if he wins? This is the best reasoning you can come up with?
Zazaza: He never said anything negative about Obi.He is in the PDP and is expected to support his party’s candidate. Please you people should stop making it look like Obidients lack objectivity..
He can support his party with his full chest, no one's going to blame him for campaigning for his party. But attempting to use the 'Igbo Presidency' mantra to deceive the gullible is just a low low for him... If Igbo presidency is really his problem, never has Nigeria come close to achieving an Igbo presidency than now (through Obi). But obviously, because he knows he wouldnt 'eat' from an Obi presidency, an Obi presidency wouldnt count as 'Igbo Presidency' in the world of these clowns....
highchief1: do you the problem some of us have?even the labor party pll are not fighting because they love Nigeria.they are fighting because they also want to deep their hands in same national treasury.obidents are ppl apc and pdp didn’t allow to steal.
So you mean those ordinary Nigerians marching about on the streets, donating their personal money, campaiging rigorously for Obi are all politicians looking for money to steal?
This has to be the most flawed presidential election projection I've seen since this season. @Passingshot obviously still thinks the LP buzz is merely social media noise; he must be amongst those who believe 4 people are sitting in a room shouting Obi Obi
They've always been useless. But I thank God for the 2023 election which is the eye opener.
This is why I've always screamed to anyone who cares to listen that the biggest problem of the SE and the Igbo man are the Igbo elite leaders; this 2023 is a divine eye opener, but will the eyes of the people still be opened?
One or 2 charlattans spring up from nowhere and when they cant dip their hands in the cookie jar, they run into the streets deceiving gullible and ignorant Igbos that the Fulani, the Hausa, the Yorubas and even the British and Americans are the problem of Igbos; giving birth to separatist agitations all over the place. Meanwhile, the true problem of Igbos stares us in the face all along.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Osita Chidoka says the South-East should back the party in the 2023 elections.
While observers believe Labour Party’s Peter Obi who is from the region will disrupt PDP’s dominance in the South-East, the former Aviation Minister said it would be unwise for Igbos to leave the party they have supported since 1999.
“The Igbo position for me is that our significant investment in the PDP for 24 years cannot be thrown away overnight. I remain in the PDP and many Igbos remain in the PDP, ” he said on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
He believes that while advocates of an Igbo presidency outside the PDP are not wrong, the main opposition party is the shortest route for the South-East to clinch the country’s top seat.
Conceding that Peter Obi has made significant progress in wooing Nigerians, he maintains that is not enough. According to him, the South-East must move a step closer to make the presidential dream a reality.
“The Igbo presidency is just around the corner. Once an Igbo man is capable of holding on strong in a party and controlling the levers of that party, that is going to happen soon,” the PDP chieftain added.
On the presidential election, Chidoka argued that the PDP is poised to win the exercise, citing the party’s organisational structure and its candidate’s experience and resilience.
“Atiku Abubakar has won the election. It is just a matter of time. When we get to February 25th, the country will say it,” he said.
Atiku, he adds, is capable of mopping up votes across the country. Despite the inter wranglings in the PDP, Chidoka says that won’t affect its candidate’s chances.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has not done well for the country and thus won’t win votes in many parts of Nigeria, he says.
“They have significantly degraded the capacity of Nigeria as a nation. They have degraded our unity in diversity and our economy,” Chidoka said.
Osita Chidoka too?! This is one of the guys within the traditional political fold who I initially thought had sense. Thank God this 2023 election has really exposed them to be hungry scoundrels and useless scavengers.
Osita Chidoka who one would have thought was a smart, progressive and youthful Nigerian leader is here supporting Atiku under the flimsy guise of 'Igbo Presidency' simply because he wants a chance to dip his hands in the nation's treasury through his party. These guys dont even care about Nigeria's survival (which is really what this 2023 election is about); they only care about their bellies.
meum: The election isn’t just about 25% spread in two-thirds of the 36 states.
A candidate needs to have the highest votes plus the required 25 percent in two-thirds spread in the 36 states of the federation.
Where a clear winner does not emerge, there would be a run-off (second election) between the person with the highest votes and the person with the spread, but not necessarily the second highest votes scored
So 1st position can go into a second election with the candidate that came 4th if he has the 25% spread.
He should aim to achieve highest vote together with the 25% spread to avoid a second election
There's something which isnt clear about the 25% rule. Is Abuja counted as a state?
If a candidate gets 25% in 23 states plus Abuja (i.e. 24 in total), does that satisfy the requirement? Or must it be 24 states plus Abuja?
Looky: Netflix have been trying to push their subltle nudity agenda into the Nigerian psyche through the movie industry.A time will come when everyone will see a naked actress in a movie as a normal thing. Look at Anikulapo and the recent one starring Nancy Isime.Actresses can go to any length to get a lead role in a movie which includes going naked on set. What is happening to our high moral standard I Nigeria. Is Netflix gradually eroding our culture.
Nigeria never for one day had any high moral standard. Rather what we have is a disproportionately high hypocritical standard.
