SimonAndal:Nigerians are talking and you expect a foreign accent?? ![]() Sorry to say this but I think you suffer from a very common strain of inferiority complex and an identity crisis that has plagued majority of Nigerians for decades. |
Nigeria is greatly blessed with abundant human and natural resources. However, we were cursed with multi-ethnicity. Nigeria today has to be the most tribalistic and ethnocentric nation on the face of the Earth. The politics of tribalism and ethnocentrism has also given birth to religious differences and high intolerance even within similar faiths. Have we not heard of stories where large ministries will not spare just a meal for a destitute at its gate simply because he/she is not a registered member? Should anyone really be surprised that a Nigerian 'missionary' school would not employ a 'qualified' candidate of a different household? Anyway, they say charity begins at home and there is always a biblical backing for every act "Gal 6:10 Do good to all men especially those of the household of faith." This then raises the question,...what is the real biblical definition of household?... |
NOT TRUE MATE!!! Remember David Cameron takes the subway in his own country even snaps pictures with commoners and MI6 and agents don't patrol the whole place. Dave Cameron is more popular than all those you mentioned.
Dont be deceived my friend.. the more you look the less you see... if any insane person had tried to cough carelessly in that train, na there you go know the difference between 6 and half a dozen |
amarilo: all through the interview I did not see any body pushing ur Adeola away from the president. When will u people stop misinforming the populace. Is this a Yoruba thing or u learn it from somewhere?^^ I am sure you are not blind else you wouldnt have been able to type and make this post. So my concern is, if you are not blind, why were you not able to see the people trying to shove the interviewer away??.. is this just some kind of mischief on your part?.. I know they say love is blind so is it that your love for the president has gotten you blind?? ![]() My concern also goes to the bunch of people that liked your post. Do they like your post because they agree with what you wrote or is it for some other reason?? Nigerians na wa!! Anyway, all I can say is that the girl was quite brave because from all indications, she clearly broke security protocol to get close to Mr President. |
ayusco85: Apportioning blame won't wake the dead. Fix the damn bridge and arrest the driver. Why did he fled the scene if he aint guilty?Do you live in Nigeria?.. if not, have you ever lived in Nigeria??... I suppose all the passengers of the bus who also fled the scene are also guilty? |
taharqa: Just hear yrself: so Destructive criticism 'knocks the Govt to order'?... Too many DONKEYs around *smh*It seems like the word 'destructive' gets you excited in a negative way. I suggest you study the true meaning of destructive criticism especially in the political arena. Imagine a child in primary school scores 0% in a test and the teacher calls the child a good for nothing 'olodo.' That may sound dumb on the teacher's part but there is no denying the fact that the embarrassment could likely knock the child to order... This is a petty example of destructive criticism. As I rightly said earlier, inasmuch as we all know it's better to criticise constructively, everyone reserves a right to choose how they wish to criticise and I also still maintain that in certain issues, destructive criticism could produce positive results. theoctopus: The way you post incredibly ignorant statements is alarming. Destructive criticism does not know the government to order. It destroys the country and everything that is in it, including you and the community you live in. Some of you have taken your ignorance to a whole new level. Which investor will want to come to Nigeria if all they read is Sahara Reporters? How will the power sector reforms and privatization have gotten to this level if all they read is Sahara Reporters? How do you hope to achieve Eko Atlantic is all foreigners read is Sahara Reporters? In one breath you go about slagging off the country and pulling it down, in another breath, you go around asking them to come and invest in your mega city. You cannot eat your cake and have it. You folks have become the proverbial child that vows his mother would not sleep. How will you ever see sleep too?Same as above, I suggest you study the true meaning and applications of destructive criticism in politics. So because we want a good international image and foreign investors then you expect Nigerians to see black and call it white?.. This may be expedient in some cases but if you expect every Nigerian to always cover up our mess even while we choke, then the nation will be doomed in no time (I trust our leaders to accelerate the process). |
Mahatma Ghandi: since when did elements of truth become truth ? at least you recognise some of their stories are ridiculous. well I wont say they are 80 % correct most of the time as you asserted, but if it is, those eighty % correctness is nothing but elements of truth, this I find disturbing. what the devil told eve in the garden was not a lie, it was just a story with elements of truths. I want to assume you know the story about half truths. what L. Monica told the press about president Clinton was not a lie what she told was stories with elements of truth, the basis on which ken saro wiwa was killed was not a lie, it was a story with elements of truth. my point is, the greatest deceits in history where all delivered with elements of truth. when u said I now have a different opinion because I love the president, well yes I love the president but not anymore than I love you. I try to be as objective as I can and I know many here will agree with me that Sahara reporters lost it somewhere along the line. I will beg you not to go categorising everyone that doesn't follow the trend of throwing stones at the presidents as fans of his, if the president errs I will put it as best I can constructively not destructively. in my humble opinion which I believe I am entitled to Sahara reporters have been trying to give the dog a bad name so that when it is finally hanged eye brows wont be raised.I can't agree with you more that half truths could be very dangerous but when we unfortunately live in a society where no truth exists, you will be left with no choice but to accept the half truths and then make what you can of it with your own wisdom. The fact remains that if Sahara Reporters did not raise this issue, no single media organisation in Nigeria would have been bold enough to mention it and consequently, Nigerians would have been oblivious of this profligacy. Yes we know SR could sometimes blow issues out of proportion so when I read their stories, I use my wisdom to moderate some of their figures. For instance, GEJ may not have taken a 600-man delegation but based on the SR story and the shallow defence of Mr Abati, I can bet you that delegation will not be less than 200. ...And just to clarify something, a critic of the government reserves the right to be either constructive or destructive. All that matters is that the criticism knocks the government to order. |
Mahatma Ghandi: Sowore sahara reporters has become a source of serious concern for most of Nigeria's unbiased populace, it has moved from right thinking and unbiased reporting to a cynical and unreasonable media house . it hurts more because a few years ago sowore's sahara reports was one of Nigeria's most credible and fearless whistle blowers, but today many can barely read the headlines of their publications because of the mindless bias and hate with which they write and publish stories. I guess at the end the saying "all good things come to an end and every man carry within himself his own self destruct button" is once again the caseA few years ago they were one of Nigeria's most credible and fearless whistle blowers but all of a sudden because you have a president you love on the throne, their reporting has automatically become 'biased and hate filled'... Wake up from your slumber my friend, Sahara Reporters did not change; power only shifted hands. As far as I'm concerned, no matter how ridiculous the stories of SR may sound, there is always an element of truth and the stories end up being perfectly correct 80% of the time. I don't think I can quote such statistics for our government mouth pieces and other media agencies. |
The truth is that less than 30 persons arrived in New York with the President this morning as members of his entourage.Someone has to explain properly to us the true meaning of the word entourage. Other than them, the only other persons who are in New York for the UN General Assembly with the President’s knowledge and approval are relevant ministers and few essential aidesNow Mr Abati has clearly not included these 'relevant' ministers and their 'few' aides in his 30 person entourage. Now someone quickly needs to explain to Nigerians the true meaning of the word entourage. We are certainly aware that many Nigerian citizens are currently on visits to New York. These persons are here for their own purposes and neither President Jonathan nor his administration has any responsibility for the presence of these persons in New York.Hmmm.. many Nigerians suddenly decide to visit New-York for personal purposes. Well, Mr Abati may not be lying after all but I can bet my last dime that he's telling half truths. We know the typical Nigerian style where the president goes with 30 people while the 30 people come with their personal assistants and other aides and then when you add the undisclosed number of ministers and their personal aides, assistants and even cooks, only God knows what the total number will be. The question I ask is, are all these people financing their travel from their pockets or is there a government link? We all know our president to be a 'kind hearted father christmas' president who even gives 'transport money' of $50,000 to his critics when they come visiting, so why should I doubt Sahara reporters when they conclude that the president sponsored all those Nigerian visitors? |
The only reason why things like this will continue to happen in Nigeria (just like corruption) is because even if it turned out to be a disaster (God forbid), no one would still be put behind bars or better still, sent to the gallows. In sane nations, when even the most insignificant disaster happens, they make sure someone goes to jail even when the person isn't directly involved. They just make sure someone is held responsible. For all those screaming 'Indians,' it is not the Indians that kill us, rather it's our fellow Nigerians. |
@uboma50calibre: Because I think in Nigeria, diesel is much more expensive than petroluboma: I agree with @50calibre No1. Diesel is much more expensive than petrol... Infact the price seems to be unregulated in Nigeria No2. Diesel could really be a scarce commodity sometimes (infact all the time).. Most times it's available only in the black market. Imagine traveling and u run out of gas, u could actually drive through 2 states and pass 10 filling stations which all have petrol but none with diesel. No3. U dare not run a diesel engine until it runs dry... if u do, u will have to bleed d engine No4. and yes, petrol engines have better acceleration and run generally faster than diesel engines I don't really know about diesel engines being problematic but if it is, then maybe its just due to the lack of diesel engine automechanics. |
Oh my God.. There goes the formidable opposition we prayed for.. already being torn apart by personal interests |
All these confused Nigerians. In 2011 you voted for 'Goodluck and not PDP' (the Party of killers since 1999). Now the same Nigerian swear never to vote for Ngige because he is in APC (arewa party as they say). Since when did Nigerians begin to realise that the party matters more than the candidate?... such a confused bunch ![]() |
ayodeji752: " i am working WITH Goodluck Jonathan" madam u are rude. D rite way of saying it is " i am working FOR Goodluck Jonathan" cos u are working for himTypical African slavery/backward mentality... "oga I am loyal sir".. Please she is not working for Jonathan. |
25Calibre: @OP I agree with all you've said, except for the part where you say, " If you are not talented and brilliant, do not bother going into rap or music at all " there are lots of places around the world where this statement is applicable, but Nigeria isn't one of them.Contrary to ur insinuations, u need a lot of talent and/or brilliance to succeed in as an artist in Nigeria. Sorry to say this but Mode 9 may be talented but he isn't brilliant that's why he isn't succeeding. Rap may be an America thing but when u are so 'talented' to rap like an American (mode 9), u need some brilliance to tailor ur art to the Nigerian audience. That's exactly where M.I, olamide etc make the difference. Nigerians in our inferiority complex may want to be like Americans, we try to talk like them, sing like them, dress like them, pretend to like what they like but the fact remains that we are Nigerians. So we see it as a treasure when we have someone serving us the American flavour in the Nigerian style. |
luluosas: Glo Is Really Cheating Their Prepaid Internet Subscribers Big Time.Am I getting something wrong here?.. Please how is this suppose to be cheating?? All over the world, Prepaid customers pay more than Postpaid customers and this is not just in the telecommunications industry. |
Do we really need a government in this nation... Should we just continue to live in disorganised chaos? ![]() |
homesteady: Thank you my brother!! Roads are commissioned almost everyday!! So what's the press about?? Or is this the first road to be built in lagos??I wonder oo... Fashola has now become a religion.. Unfortunately if the man continues to receive this kind of adulation, it will only encourage him to slow down on any positive plans he has for the state. |
kenis: What all the press about? Roads are being built in Other states everyday without the governors running to the press. It's is only Fashola, T.A Orji and Aregbesola that I still hear make this kind of noise for some meters of road.On the contrary, I think the blame has to go to some brainwashed lagosians and not Fashola. If you check the trend of this Fashola worship, you will notice that it's actually ordinary lagosians that run to the press whenever he sneezes. Unfortunately most of these people have never lived anywhere else than in Lagos so they can't really be blamed for their baseless comparisons. |
manny4life: The bold can only happen in Imo and nowhere else, it's okay to have dreams because we're entitled to it, but reality will smack his face really hard. The SE with exception to Imo is a no-go for APC, the party isn't welcomed, if Igbos can work together to revive APGA, and Peter Obi is definitely not helping issues. I'd rather take the current APGA that way it is than to have APC...God forbid a party found by looters and terrorist alike.
the man is stupid!!!! who should forgive who? he betrayed us and we are not ready to forget. he and his party ll never be welcomed in igboland. APGA any day
Sometimes I wonder how the same Nigerians whom voted Goodluck and not PDP have suddenly begun to attach much importance to the party (APC) instead of the candidate. I wonder if this is a sign of political maturity in Nigerians ![]() |
The commissioner said it was just coincidence that the police escorts attached to Sakari and Baraje were removed at this time when the PDP is in crisis.wow... what a coincidence ![]() |
shymexx: “Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it.” ― John LennonNo wonder [s]another maniac (in his own way) in [/s]the person of Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon retorted that he was maniacally bewildered at PDP's scientific breakthrough in which 16 was greater than 19 and 5 greater than 27. Nothing is impossible in PDP ![]() |
petrov 10: simple . Many of these so called aggrieved govenors wnt stand these arogant attitudes frm thier subordinates................Ameachi suspended a L.G charman for coming late to a meeting , and now u see him running around wit his new found friends thinking they can undermine the presidencySo because the governors are lawless, then it automatically makes it right for the president to be lawless?... This is where we get it all wrong as a nation ![]() |
ideyvexnow: Guy Na lie you dey talk, When people begin to argue like this, it makes it very easy to guess the level of their intelligence |
torhuke: Stop misleading people here Mr APC diehard. It is the business of the opposition to criticise and call the ruling party to order when it takes decisions that affect the the populace. The opposition criticise policies and give reasons why they so do. The opposition churn out ideas that can better the lot of the people. The opposition give the people alternative choices to decisions of the ruling party especialy as it relates to socio-economic policies... So far so good, APC is a far cry from all of the above.. They only know how to insult the president for frivolous reasons, they trivialise sensitive issues (such as the boko haram and the SOE), the demean the office of the president, pour their age long tanrums on a man transforming this country albeit slowly and steadily.. And u come here to define opposition to suit your parochial inclinations.. U better take your time!!APC has the right to choose how it wants to carry out its opposition duties; be it constructive or destructive criticism, whichever it decides to use should be its business. In your understanding of the political situation, why would you think the internal affairs of PDP does not affect the populace?... or are you not aware that PDP is the ruling party?... are you not also aware that charity begins at home?... if PDP cannot practice democracy internally, how would they then practice democracy externally?... Not long ago the security details of a sitting governor was withdrawn on orders from above and you think its the right thing to do for Nigerians to sit down and fold their arms because it's a PDP vs PDP issue?... how long will it take before the powers that be starts using the same whip on the Nigerian populace? Just like I said earlier, if u breed a monster to attack your enemies, it would not be long before the same monster forgets that you are its master. The earlier we stopped glorifying lawlessness simply because it favours us, the better for us as a nation. |
ideyvexnow: Why should we see anything wrong with what He is doing. The only reason why Nigeria is the way it is today is because we collectively glorify rubbish when it favours us. Unfortunately, it takes only intelligent minds to understand that the demerits of glorify lawlessness (simply because it favours us) far outweighs the merits. It takes a great man to openly scold his brother/friend when the latter does something wrong. By God's grace we shall Nigeria shall get there one day! |
DIVINE78: Thanks for this post. GEJ supporters are mostly ediots.Unfortunately, a lot of these 'ediots' are the ones that actually go out to vote in elections. Also these 'ediots' are the ones that go deep down into the grassroots to pollute the minds of less enlightened people in the villages to vote for and glorify lawlessness. That's the reason why the nation will always remain the way it is. ![]() |
It takes a little bit of common sense to see when an a little ant begins to transform into a man eating monster but unfortunately, common sense is not common in Nigeria today. The case being raised by APC is something any right thinking Nigerian should be worried about irrespective of party affiliations, religion, ethnicity etc. Disregard for the rule of law should be frowned upon irrespective of sentiments. GEJ in recent times has exhibited dictatorial tendencies but instead of condemnation, GEJ die-hard followers see nothing wrong with it. A simple word of advice, "if u groom an unruly monster, one day the same monster will forget you are its master" For all those ignorantly asking what the business of APC is in the matter, I suggest you go and search your dictionaries (or google) for the meaning of 'Opposition Party.' If you are too lazy to do that then be informed that it is the duty of the opposition party in any democracy to criticize and call the ruling party to order when they go astray. |
Why do you pull your trousers up beyond the waist?Yohji Yamamoto ![]() I think I like his defence

christ4mi: I don't why people will always like to cause confusion, this early marriage is a Northern Muslims thing, did anyone force us to marry out our daughters or sister early? Alcohol is perfectly legal in Nigeria does it mean that everyone must consume Alcohol? Southern compatriot we fighting for pple who don't want fight for themselves. Until Northern Muslims lead the way in fight against Early Marriage, then I will join the fight. It non of my business for nowHOw can a helpless 12yrs old girl fight for her rights when she is given out to slavery and abuse by her mentally ill poverty stricken parents?.. We're talking of human rights here. Do you know it took the intervention of a foreigner to stop the killing of twins in some parts of Nigeria? If this same foreigner had said, "well, it's their business, how can I be fighting for people who don't want to fight for themselves?" I guess the twin babies abandoned in the evil forests would rise up one day and fight for themselves..or alternatively, the chief priest who does the killing will have a rethink one day |

israel007: So it's only austria and finland that's livable in Europe. Tuntheycr7: Where is New york, Mexico, London, Millan and PARIS ?Shine ur eyes before you both sink into the ocean of *******. 140 cities were ranked and the report just shows the first 10 cities and the 137th city. I still can't understand how ur brains interpreted this simple report to mean that New-York, Paris etc are not livable. Anyway, why should I even expect much from someone who thinks England and Singapore are cities? |
