Hezron Lorraine: My attention as been drawn to the popular trend of Nigerian singers. Hezron Lorraine: No one is disputing the fact that they do,it isn't a regular norm like our performers in Nigeria do.The foreign audience often criticize the artiste later on even if he/she delivered a wonderful performance on stage.I totally disagree with your assertion. Back in the days, Yes; but in recent times, No way. Most Nigerian artists do live performances these days with very clear modifications to the original songs. I don't know where you get ur statistics from. Can u please show us examples (videos) of any of the top Nigerian artists lip-syncing on stage recently? |

emmymdk: I refuse to acknowledge Anayo Okorocha as a real Igbo son.. He has sold APGA and now we get nothing in return,I just hope this is a rumour... I pledge my support to GEJ come 2015What has APGA done for any common Igbo man in Nigeria till date ... What is all these nonsense about APGA being an Igbo saviour and as Rochas dumped APGA, then he has betrayed the Igbos??... What kind of backward reasoning is that??All these confused people just make it look as if it was APGA that made Rochas win the governorship election in Imo... that would be the greatest self deceit of the century for anyone who believes that. |
As much as I hate everything about GEJ, I have always prayed that APC comes up with a formidable candidate that would give GEJ a good fight. However with this present 'zone zone zone' argument within APC, I smell a GEJ presidency till 2019 ![]() Northerners have not let GEJ to breathe for a single second of his presidency. Yes we know GEJ is a failure but it's clear the animosity from the North isn't really about his performance but rather based entirely on ethnicity. The stance of the North has fueled an equal and opposite reaction from southerners whom have vowed never to vote for anything from the North and in the most ridiculous sense, supporting and glorifying GEJ's failures. It's unfortunate that with the present tense polity, all I see is an easy GEJ presidency till 2019 except APC wakes up to their responsibility as the major opposition. |
eddiebruk: So who is left..? if these 3 are the main culprits, that means the life of every air use is in danger, including witches and wizards. This also means that the whole of the Aviation industry is corrupt, so can you tell me how come there has been some progress in the aviation sector if not for the recent air mishaps...?I wouldn't want to argue further with you on this topic because it's clear from all indications that you are being partisan (a typical Nigerian politician) I rest my case. U win |
Greatken007: Mention 1 country that has never experience plane crash since last year...Stop saying our air space is unsafe, which is now safe? This is one very shallow and disgusting argument gullible Nigerians usually come up with as an excuse for us to keep living with our inexcusable man made woes... When people say there is corruption, they will argue that there is no country without corruption When people say we have a high rate of road accidents and fatalities, they will argue that all countries have road accidents When people say we have a very poor aviation safety record with recurring air mishaps, they will argue that even advanced countries have crashes... I do not know the level of education of the people that come up with this kind of arguments but these people may feel they are being patriotic. Unfortunately, they glorify and defend the ineptitude of our leaders thereby making the leaders too happy to persist in their failures. If these people understand the concept of 'statistics,' they should know that in a country like the US for instance, there is an average of about 25000 to 30000 flights per day. I dont think Nigeria records that figure in even a year yet someone wants to compare number of air crashes in Nigeria to the US. |
eddiebruk: Are you aware that the NCAA and the Aviation Ministry are having some serious issues before now...? If you don't, then i guess i have answered your long written question. Are you also aware that the plane actually didn't crash as this news had it...? i told you the issue was sudden and the pilot made a confirmation to be sure if the Tyres were out, and just maybe because of the series of cases of air mishaps, Nigerians became weary that they are about to crash. But the plane landed successfully, although on the runway.Oh yes we thank God it landed safely but please, my rants are not necessarily about the incident of today so please don't dwell on that. |
eddiebruk: You still didn't make any sense, because you just blamed everyone involved in the Aviation industry in this your piece of article without actually arriving at a concrete point of understandingI wonder what is too difficult for you to understand. It is very clear that the NCAA and airline operators love money more than the lives of the passengers. An UNFIT airplane is declared FIT by the NCAA after money changes hands. The aviation ministry is also not left out in this evil gamble. There are 3 main culprits: 1. Airline management 2. NCAA 3. Aviation Ministry The aviation ministry instead of checking the excesses of the NCAA would rather join in the bribe party and then blame God when planes fall off the sky. |
eddiebruk: Take it easy on yourself bro, the flight developed that hydraulic fault all of a sudden, just as a normal car brake might develop fault all of a sudden without warning, and there is no way the Pilot would have tried to rectify such fault without landing, except you want them to continue flying around hoping that the Tyres will eventually come out, Stella isnt the reason why such things happen, because if you use your head to think, you will understand that the same plane used those same tyres on the runway before it tookoff, so please try to understand that sudden mechanical faults shouldn't be related to the Aviation sector (Although the Aviation sector should check on things like these to verify a healthy flight, but this looks like a sudden fault), rather the Airlines should be blamed, if you ask me, i don't think there is any Airline that enjoys loosing their flights to casualties just as a country wouldn't want to loose her citizens to casualties. How can u say a thing like this?? That a plane developed a 'sudden fault' mid air without a single sign on the ground??... Are u suggesting that none of the engineers on ground knew something was fishy with the hydraulic system of the plane prior to flight??... Maybe this incident might have been a 'sudden fault' case but are u suggesting that all other airplanes that crashed in Nigeria developed 'sudden faults' mid air. U say no airline enjoys loosing their planes but do u know the financial implication of an airline cancelling a flight?? Have u ever considered that some corrupt/reckless airline management would rather gamble with the lives of their passengers than lose millions to a grounded flight??.. or is this evil concept new to u as a Nigerian?? Now u finally say airlines are to be blamed and not the aviation regulatory authorities but are u aware that the engineers who certify these planes as fit-for-flight are not of the airlines but rather from the government (NCAA)?? ... Do you honestly think those NCAA engineers are so incompetent that they don't know when a plane is faulty and when its ok??.. Do u know its the same Nigerian NCAA engineers that also check and certify foreign (international) airlines also when they land in Nigeria .... Have u ever asked urself why it's only the Nigerian planes they certify as fit that develop 'sudden fault' mid air very often??The logic is simple, NCAA certifies a plane as UNFIT, airline management pays a bribe to NCAA and the plane suddenly becomes FIT. I dont think the NCAA is totally independent of the aviation ministry so please if u can also use ur head to think, u will understand why I blame the ministry of aviation for not carrying out its oversight functions. |
Olekumaster: nigeria aviation industry is just too bad. The other day, pilots were to blame. This time who is?Its very easy to blame pilots that are dead and can't defend themselves but as is usually the case in Nigeria, the whole investigation ends by heaping the blame on the pilots. The truth in our aviation sector is that, those pilots must have been under tremendous pressure from their employers to fly that plane and from their experience, they must have felt they could get the plane safely to Akure and back. Problem with Nigeria is that after heaping the blame on the dead pilots, nobody bothers to ask why/if the aircraft maintenance engineers cleared the plane fit for service. No one also dares ask why the management forced the pilots to fly a faulty plane (I am sure the airline management knew the condition of the plane). No one dares to ask why no one (not a single person) has been convicted for criminal negligence of duty in the countless air mishaps that happen in Nigeria. Oh, I almost forgot, just like our able minister mentioned, all the air disasters in Nigeria are an act of God hence there is no need to punish anyone. Strangely, with this attitude, we expect crashes to stop happening. In my opinion, I think the real act of God in our aviation industry is that we still have planes that fly and land safely. |
mk una leave stella alone, wetin self nor be person conderm D Aviation b4 she enter repair am small.
Our leaders have eyes and ears everywhere even on nairaland. When they see comments like yours, it encourages them to be lazy and corrupt because they know the people they rule are 'idiots' This is one horrible mentality that keeps us backward as a nation.. so because the rot was there b4 she was appointed then u expect us to go and blame previous governments?? probably u want us to also go and blame Agagu??... if I may ask, why was she appointed if not to clear the existing rot? Someone is employed to fix a mess but when she fails, the same masses who are actually the victims will still rally support for her and defend her with dumb arguments like "the rot was there b4 her." The moment we stop our idiotic sycophancy and start aggressively holding our leaders accountable for their actions and in-actions, the better for us as a nation. |

geeez: Last year a 10MW power plant was built for €12m (N2.6bn) in a country that had the technical and material requirements - GermanyYou have come up with a good but severely flawed argument. How can you compare the price of a solar power plant to the price of a gas fired plant??.. Are you not aware that solar technology is expensive?? IMO, I do not think the Lagos project is overpriced but I just had to comment on your post so people dont buy into it |
I see alot of people being super sentimental about this topic.. Is Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Effik, Ibibio, Idoma, Ogba, Ikwerre, Ogoni, e.t.c. spoken as an official language in Nigeria?! NO!! So you are Igbo, you live in Lagos, your kids school in Ikoyi Lagos, you and your wife work 7 - 7, the grandparents are dead or barely come for long visits, the kids are exposed to a society where only english is spoken, their vacations are overseas, they have barely spent more than 5 days in the village at any particular time, Mum is Yoruba, Daddy is Idoma (so its not like even at home both parents speak to each other in one local language...), Television shows only foreign programmes, e.t.c.. HOW THEN DO YOU EXPECT THE KIDS TO LEARN TO SPEAK?! The truth is that many people have simply thrown Language and tradition aside and focused on the pursuit of money and happiness. - A child that grows up in Onitsha is more likely to be able to speak Igbo than a child that grew up in the United Kingdom. - How many of you are willing to deport your children back to your villages to live and grow for a year in other to interact with thier people, learn their ways and traditions and our culture and religous practices?! Like I said, the times have changed... Things aint like they use to be before. I told my younger brother about a fishing trip (actually its was a natural pond located inside a think swamp forest in my village) I went on with my dad and my uncles in the village. Told him about the encounter with over 20 - 30 snakes on the trip, told him about the encounter with crocodiles and all the fishes we caught that filled 3 cars.. Told him about how my uncle poured libation, made some incantations and the snakes all started leaving without attacking anybody, told him about the beliefs that the snakes were the protectors of the pond, told him the law of strangers taking fish from the pond, told him about the time keeper bird that flew over us inside the bush signifying that it was time for us to leave otherwise the darkness would fall on us so fast, we would not be able to find our way out until the next morning, e.t.c.. He just stood there looking at me with bewilderment.. I really wished he can experience this.. Now this pond is still there and I have been trying to get my father to take me back to the pond so that I can take possession of it as he is no longer interested in it, but he just does not have that kind of time.. Sadly, my father does not have that kind of time on his hands anymore.. My siblings have not been to either villages in like over 12 - 15 years.. Grandparents are dead, village is now unsafe with rampant kidnappings and robberies, family members that are now haters, e.t.c.. The last trip I had to the village as a child for Christmas ended up with my uncle summoning my father before a Native Doctor.. Now imagine the mess... How were my younger ones supposed to ever learn the language. Some of you have similar stories as well. Dont use your life to judge others.. All I can pray for now is that by the time the next generation arrives, my parents would be in the last phase of life (i.e retirement) and would be the ones to teach our (i.e my kids and those of my siblings) the traditions and culture of our people including the language & religous practices. If a kid cant speak his or her local Language in 2013... Nna, I dont blame them. The times of our fathers and now are not the same.
The problem isn't that the children can't speak the language, there could be cases of inter tribal marriage and families living in far away lands making it a bit difficult for the children to learn their native language; that is excusable. The real issue however is that there are a lot of Nigerians who consciously refuse to teach their children the language because they think it's either bush, uncouth, or backwards for their kids to speak a local language. Now that is where it becomes a problem ![]() |
Mgbadike80: ha ha, i have largely lost hope in this country and her citizenry. The igbo language will eventually disappear with the mindset of the current generation. I partly blame pentecostalism. Igbos hardly pray in igbo language or give their children native names. Some even change their surnames to english. Have u heard about pastors called Stone O Stone, bishop sk magsey, rev king? They actually exist in igbo land.May I add 'PAstor Dr. Signs Fireman' to your list ![]() |
Afam4eva: I have made it a rule never to speak to any Igbo person that can't speak Igbo and is proud of it. I don't want any form of inferiority in my life. I almost slapped a woman and i regret not slapping her that i heard talking about how allowing her children speaking Igbo will spoil their tongue. These are the 1diotic elements we're breeding. These are the same people that can deny their roots. They're the same people that can deny their father and mother if need be. I think a law should be passed by the government to make it compulsory for people to be able to understand their native turn if they must seek employment in Nigeria. These 1diocy has to be curbed.Afam you have said it all in ur bolded statement, 'idiotic elements.' It's just a case of inferiority complex which has plagued the black race worldwide (especially Nigerians). The only time Nigerians raise their heads up and scream 'naija for life' is when they are around Ghanians or people from smaller african countries. It's only Nigerians (especially our girls) that would go to Russia and pick up an American or British accent in one month; it's really embarrassing. Isn't it a shame that other races regard us as inferior and we ourselves also see ourselves as inferior? ![]() |
Nigerians suffer from an advanced level of inferiority complex and an identity crisis (no offense). In the UK today, you will never see a pair of Chinese, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, dutch people etc speaking English to each other. However, I have come across countless Nigerians that argue with me that even speaking the Nigerian pidgin English by 2 full grown adults isn't right. These same Nigerians do not find anything wrong in teaching their kids french or Spanish. They even go ahead to speak the Jamaican patois (Jamaican pidgin) and they find it fashionable. Last year at the Nottinghill carnival in London, a Nigerian DJ (Jatt) at the Nigerian stand played more foreign songs than he did Nigerian songs and the Nigerian audience was 'so impressed' with his performance. ![]() You can't blame us cos to a great extent, it's a black race thing. The world sees us as inferior and we also see ourselves as inferior too. |

rockbase360: He doesn't need the permission of any dam OBI to campaign. This is not 1732. It's 2013. All he needed was a permit from the police.....Sick and tired of all these traditional rulers. They are the real problems of nigeria.. mymz: Finally!! someone with THE God-given kind of sense.Guys, this has nothing to do with modernization, civilization or whatever and yes, we know Ngige doesn't need the permission of the Obi to campaign but where is the common sense in this??... this is politics for crying out loud.... If you guys have a slight understanding of the game called politics, you would know that in order to win, you should strive to win the hearts of as many people as you can. In order to gather supporters, politicians have to pretend to like what their the people like; there you see Christians attending mosques and Muslims attending church gatherings. Presidential candidates organizing interview sessions with popular youth celebrities (GEJ) and even in certain cases, claiming they support gay rights (Obama). #All na wash Now back to the main business, the Obi of Onitsha has a cult following, if a candidate angers the Obi, even if he was loved by the people, there is a tendency he would lose supporters from the Obi's followers. Even in the UK today, if a political candidate angers the queen, there is no doubt he would be losing a lot of support. Ngige and his handlers messed up big time and I advise he runs down to the Obi's palace to tender a proper apology (with appropriate homage)... The ball is in his court |
In 2011, some Nigerians claim to have voted for Goodluck and not PDP. Now these same set of Nigerians swear they wouldn't vote Ngige simply because he is in APC. How come the party has suddenly become so important to these set people?? ![]() |
taharqa: So Planes land in place other than airport runways in Nigeria more than at other countries of d world??... You don't say! Plz, tell me more...C'mon will u drop all the whole patriotic bullshhiit about plane crashes being a normal thing which happens in every part of the world cos I know that's the next argument u will come up with. Some people need to make research before jumping onto political bandwagonsYou guys should stop thinking like typical Nigerian political schemers. You have put up a question "Who shld I believe? Experts from ICAO Or Political opportunists from SW Nigeria" No matter how highly ICAO rates our airspace, any Nigerian with common sense would only believe those ratings the day when we stop hearing of planes falling off the sky. Have you ever asked yourself why this shiit happens in Nigeria more than any other country in the world in recent times?? .. ICAO rating indeed ![]() |

Clarence Peters, Sesan, Matt Max, Patrick Elis, Mr. Moe Musa, Aje Filmworks, Godfather, Jude okoye etc... All these names produce good videos depending on the money the artist is ready to spend. However, I dont know how he does it, sometimes I wonder if he ever sleeps but I must say there is something about Clarence that makes him the special one. By the time all the other directors finish shooting a single good video, Clarence would have shot about 20 good videos. Clarence takes credit for over 50% of the reasonable music videos in Nigeria today; I think the ideas flow naturally from his head. |
