I just hope the official result wouldn't be a shocker cos most of the results highlighted here are just partial results from local polling units.

Please nobody should quote me yet on this Oo. I just got this from a friend who is a top journalist from Kaduna.

"The report I'm getting from kano says cpc has won two out of three senatorial seats, bauchi all cpc, adamawa, one labour, one cpc and one acn. Gombe all cpc. I'm yet to receive anything from yobe, niger and nasarrawa"
Now this is the kind of result spread we like to hear. A state where the three zones are won by 3 different parties (and nothing for PDP)

The simple reason why things like this happen and will continue to happen is because political offices are tooooo lucrative.

Political office holders are not wealthy because they recieve fat salaries but rather because they can STEAL huge sums of money with a 100% assurance that nothing will happen to them.

The only way this can stop is if political offices aren't lucrative and if people are punished for their crimes.

A PDP govt cannot prosecute its own members and we all know that over 80% of the politicians (thieves) in Nigeria belong to PDP

The only way these thieves can be prosecuted is if PDP loses power. Nigerians are completely tired of PDP and are ready to remove them from limelite but this will be  extremely difficult because many myopic/uninformed Nigerians have already been decieved by the large carrot (GEJ) being dangled by PDP

I just wonder why GEJ supporters are not seeing beyond the PDP ruse.

Bintus2much:
Explosives intercepted in Delta

The police in Asaba, Delta State, yesterday nabbed two policemen and a driver of a Kia Rio car that was conveying guns, explosives and grenades to Bayelsa State from Delta.
The Commissioner of Police Alhaji Mamman Tsafe  said the ammunitions which included a Rocket Propelled Grenade, five dynamites, 25 cartridges, seven single barreled guns and two double barreled guns, were procured for Saturday’s elections and others to come. The commissioner’s submission was corroborated by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Charles Muka, who confirmed the incident yesterday in Asaba.

A source disclosed that two policemen escorted the car with an aide to a prominent candidate in one of the political parties that were apprehended by the police at a checkpoint in Patani axis in Delta State.   Patani council had been in the news lately.  In January, a top member of the PDP and former Transition Committee Chairman of the council, Mr Paul Atie was shot dead.   Muka refused to disclose the names of the culprits and their sponsors, saying “three young men were arrested” at Patani with arms and are presently being interrogated by the police in Asaba.

http://www.dailytrust.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=15780:explosives-intercepted-in-delta-&catid=1:news&Itemid=2
Three simple questions:

Why can't Mr. Charles Muka disclose the names of the culprits?

Who is this so called 'prominent candidate?

Why do they always protect these 'big men' involved in all these?

Since the history of our democracy, not a single name of one 'big man' has ever been mentioned in a case like this and the cases always fade away. Trust me, those weapons will eventually be escorted by even more policemen until they reach their intended destinations and are used for their intended purpose.

For how long will Nigerians continue to be fooled in the hands of our leaders? We really need to replace these crop of leaders who all belong to the same cabal and always protect themselves with the police.

nation crumbles.

Nigerians have completely lost patience with GEJ and his PDP. It's anything but PDP

Also, although the PDP 'tied' OBJ's hands on the FOI Act, it was not able to tie Jonathan's hands.
By the way, are you aware that a new minimum wage bill has been signed into law by Jonathan even in the face of opposition from governors?
The FOI bill was frustrated by our lawmakers but after 12yrs, when it became clear to a great majority of them that they wouldn't be returning to the house, they decided to pass the bill just to look good in the eyes of Nigerians. They knew the bill wouldnt be affecting them much.

Passage of that bill had nothing to do with GEJ.

My broda its not about liking Buhari; rather it's all about voting out the PDP. If u check your political history very well, you will find out that even the few southerners that have also ruled us also behaved like the same northerners u talk about. The reason is simple, they all belong to the same cult/cabal/party presently called PDP.

The real problem has nothing to do with where the individual comes. Nigerians just need to strip these evil men of their excess powers and start afresh. Pat Utomi said it all, "we need to crash our democracy and start afresh"

,
Actually, your “list” ended up pointing to the “few” achievement of OBJ and PDP and may in fact sway some people to vote for them. If Buhari was head of state and you could not point to one PLAN he had or ACTION that he took to solve the probems of poverty, power, Niger delta, GSm etc. but you are able to poiint to the PLANS of PDP or OBJ.Then even if everything has not gone exactly as planned, I think it is better than having NO GSM at all, NO NDDC at all, NO EFCC at all, NO POWER ROADMAP at all  because of NO PLAN!
You are right. Everything i can possibly think of as an example was an achievement of the heavily vilified Obj and not PDP. I couldn't think of any single achievement of Yaradua and GEJ. The PDP has a way of tying the hands of our leaders and it takes only a strong and stubborn man like Obj to still achieve something even with all the constraints. That explains why GEJ and Yaradua even with all their great plans couldnt achieve a thing. Why would I then vote for this same PDP?
Politics › Re: Do Non - Northerners Support Buhari? by obailala(m): 10:43pm On Mar 26, 2011
muami:
A review of the pro Buhari supporters show that they support him for two reason: (1)They believe he is not (too) corrupt, and (2) They hate PDP.Considering the extent of corruption in Nigeria and the below average performance of PDP in the past 12 years, these are good reasons.       However, the question is: Are these reasons good enough? I think it is a mistake to vote for someone because of who he is or in protest of what the other person or party did not do. Examples abound that people live to regret it. For example in UK, they voted the Conservatives simply because they hated Labour. Today, everyone is protesting against thie policies.Similarly, in the US, Obama was voted largely because people hated George Bush and the way he handled the Iraq war. Today, they have realised that hate and oratory prowess is not enough, which is why they voted back the Republican in the mid term elections.
Yes, I hate corruption, and yes, PDP has under performed but I dont think that should be the main reason why we should vote for the candidates we want to vote for otherwise we may end up regreting. All I am trying to say is this: if Buhari and his online supporters here really want us to vote for him, he and they should focus on the plans and programmes and not on the mere fact that he hates corruption. There are so many countries, including Ireland and Portugal, where the leaders are not corrupt and yet they are clueless as to how to move the economy forward. What we need is a leader that has a coherent plan on how to accelerate economic growth in the country. As we prepare to vote, let that be the overaching criteria for selecting candidates.
Exactly!

Nigeria just needs something or someone that can uproot the evil grip PDP has on the nation. Just like Pat Utomi recommended, we need to crash our democracy and start afresh and the only way that can happen is by dismantling the monster called PDP.

I'm a southerner and I support BB because they are the only hope Nigeria has to unseat the PDP

You talking of corruption, even a madman on the streets knows that no matter how good the plans and ideologies of a president are, as long as there is corruption in the polity, good plans can never be actualized.

taking Obj as an example,

-Obj had passionate plans to change our power situation and he pumped in a whooping $16billion to that effect but because of corruption, we all know the story. -

-Yaradua came in with great enthusiasm and declared an emergency in the same power sector. He started off the process with a probe of the $16b but because of the same old corrupt people that were transferred from Obj govt to yaradua govt, Yaradua never lived to see the report of the probe he initiated

-Obj had good plans to bring in cheap telecommunication into Nigeria but at the end, he succeeded in establishing the most expensive gsm services globally in Nigeria

-Obj had good plans for infrastructure, he awarded several contracts for Roads (benin-ore, east-west road etc) and bridges (2nd Niger bridge) etc but corruption swallowed the initiatives

-Obj established efcc to flush corruption out of nigeria but because of the same corruption, in the words of our corrupt speaker Bankole "EFCC isn't worth a penny."

-Today we have Petroleum industry bill moving from one legislative tenure to the other and the bill might never be passed because oil companies keep bribing our leaders to kill the bill

-NDDC, Niger Delta ministry, etc etc were all good initiatives to develop the abused Nigerdelta region but because of corruption, the budget for these ministries only made rich corrupt men even richer

The list is endless.

Apart from PDP members that must have a share in the plunder like Beaf and Ezeuche, why would any sane person still want to support PDP?

Most people here on this thread have just displayed the typical kind of mindset most Nigerians have for others, HATRED and JEALOUSY!! What is wrong if someone who has the means wishes to give birth abroad? It is this idle-mind-jealous attitude that make people (especially in the villages) try to poison or use juju on relatives and friends whom they think are progressing.

Most people here try to conceal their malice by accusing her of shouting about it. Did she come out plainly on tv and announce this to the world or didn't she mention it simply because she was specifically asked by the interviewer?

Who is doing the shouting? she or the journalist? Besides just like someone here confirmed, this is an old interview that was dug up from the archives and I wonder why it should be on the front page. Haters should hit their head on the wall if they don't like her. Rubbish!

Education › Re: Why Do Pple Think That Studying Abroad Is Easier by obailala(m): 12:54pm On Mar 12, 2011
Arguments here say it is easier abroad because the facilities and educational resources are at ones disposal but this is the way i see and liken the two scenarios

Nigeria: u are given a spoon and asked to dig a 5 feet deep trench

Overseas: u are equipped with a spoon, a shovel, hoes, spades etc and u are required to dig a 100 feet trench by hand.

While studying overseas, u are equiped with all the resources u might likely need but the task is hundred times more than what u are expected to accomplish if u study in Nigeria. I have being through both systems and I know exactly what I'm saying.

Finally, to an extent, it all depends on ur school and ur course.
