IMPUNITY Most people have voted for corruption but what we fail to realise is that corruption exists in every nation and every mind in the world. A critical look at the Nigerian situation reveals that something greater is responsible for the prevalence of corruption; IMPUNITY creates a perfect habitat for corruption to thrive. Nigerian leaders know that no matter how corrupt they get, they can NEVER be punished. They know the worst that can happen is to be stripped from power and prevented from being even more corrupt. If only a few of our leaders can be punished with jail terms, we would be surprised at the effect that would have on our nation. |
So with all the camera phones around, no one could get a live video? ![]() |

Since the creation of PTDF in the year 2000 as an independent parastatal by OBJ, all the executive secretaries (about 5 or 7, I'm not too sure) have been northerners. An agency that recieves billions of oil money (similar to the NDDC); sometimes i wonder if the southerners are really blind to see all this northern domination. ![]() |

@deji.ariyo Thanks a lot Deji U've just made my day with ur arguments and at least i can borrow some of the very valid points u've proposed to argue this same issue with my colleagues who are too blinded by the stuff they hear on CNN and bbc. U dont have to bother urself so much with all those opposing ur arguments cos they are just too blinded as well by the stuff they get from the western media. Ghaddafi might be an evil dictator for all I care but he still remains one of the greatest African leaders. With what we've seen so far from the Libyan war, the thieving west can never decieve me anymore with their evil gimmicks. They dont care about Africa; they only care about their economies. period!! |

This is rubbish propaganda, this will not happen in ANY COUNTRY OF THE WORLD not even in the US . . There's more to the story than what they are telling us |
D'banj is just a star. He's been spitting trash for almost a decade and he's always been himself and very original; never throwing away his Nigerian accent or style. This guy has carved a niche for himself and no matter how stuupid his songs might sound, they are always a hit. May I also add for those that say he only sings of girls, that is his style of singing and as a professional, he always sticks to it. He's not like most other wack naija artists that would want to include all the existing genres in one album (funny enough, that's what some nigerians call creativity/talent) |
Curses indeed!present day nigerian politicians will be ready to swear any kind of oath u present to them. This idea will change nothing even if it's implemented |

Also in another incident, I heard of a 17 years old boy who was beaten to coma and was almost burnt simply because he stole 3 packets of indomie. The problem is, over 90% of the mob doing the beating and lighting do not even know what the victim has done. I personaly witnessed a mob scene some years back in owerri when 2 supposed criminals were almost burnt to death. An innocent guy had his phone 'obtained' by a notorious cultist in the area. In order to 'bail' his fone, the cultist asked him to go bring N2000. He was able to raise the money but the cultist still refused to return the fone asking him to make it up to N3k. While this young man was still begging to retrieve his fone, the cultist brought out a gun in broad daylight and tried to rob an okada man. A mob emerged from nowhere and both young men were tagged as armed robbers instantly. After being beaten to pulp, God just sent a highly respected local vigilante head who was driving past and that was how that guy was saved. In that case, over 98% of the mob did not even know the real story until days later. We just have to stop being barbaric ![]() |
Jungle justice is bad because in 90% of the cases, it attacks the wrong victim. The other day we watched here on NL how a young man was brutalised and burnt to death simply for stealing a necklace. How could that be justifiable when we have cold blooded criminals who when caught (most likely by the police) would be put in prison to enjoy free food? Secondly politicians out there are stealing billlions and indirectly causing the death of millions of people daily; Nigeria today has the highest maternal mortality rate because our leaders are all thieves yet we still worship these same leaders. When we then want to vent our anger, we go out and attack a helpless, harmless necklace thief (who is also a victim of the politicians) in the name of national cleansing. How much more foolish can we possibly be? |
answer to the topic question is YES! No matter how endowed ur backside or wallets is, u can buy a 2.1 but u can never buy a 1st class |
Nigerians again using the power of large numbers (and sentiments) to intimidate the rest of africa. I guess the organisers knew this would surely happen hence they decided to crown two winners in this edition. |
