Nairaland General › Horrible Accident In Warri (caution! Disburbing Images) by obailala(op): 11:02am On Nov 28, 2009 |
SIX market women were killed in the early hours of Thursday (26th) at Effurun, Delta State, by a trailer suspected to be laden with stolen crude oil, while a mob partly razed the Ebrumede Police Station in a spur-of-the-moment reaction to the unpleasant incident. As at 9.00am on the said day, a Nigeria Army Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC, was stationed at the Ebrumede Police Station to stop further attack.
Vanguard counted at least six vehicles with their windscreens smashed at the police station while the office of the Officer-in-charge of the station was torched.
The accident occurred around 5.00 am at the Delta Steel Company, DSC, junction, along the Ughelli-Patani Road and up till 10.00am, the section of the road leading to Warri was cordoned off by a joint team of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, army and other security agents to clean up the spilled crude oil on the road to avoid fresh accident.
The anger of the mob was that the trailer with Gombe number plate, XE 399 GME would not have sent the victims to their untimely graves if the policemen had not stopped the Toyota Hiace bus with a Lagos number plate, AA 49 FST, in which the victims were traveling, to purportedly collect a bribe.
The Police Area Commander, Warri, Assistant Commissioner of Police Shaba Alkali and the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Ekpan Police Station, Ekpan, who also oversees the Ebrumede Police Station, Superintendent Mohammed Muazu, however, denied any complicity on the part of the police in the matter in an interview with Vanguard, saying the tanker driver drove dangerously.
Alkali pointed out, nevertheless, that the cause of the accident was still under investigation and both officers noted that a woman was killed under a similar circumstance at the same spot, last Friday, when a truck, belonging to a brewing company rammed into the bus she was travelling in.
He explained that the policemen at the station were armed when the crowd stormed the place but because they did not want to add to the number of casualties, they restrained themselves from firing at them.
The corpses of the victims were removed by men of the FRSC, led by the Unit Commander, Warri, Olusola Olusegun who led his men to the place.
Chairman of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, in the state, Oghenjabor Ikimi, in his reaction condemned the “brutal killing of six innocent Nigerians who were occupants of a commercial bus at a police checkpoint by the DSC roundabout, Ebrumede,, Delta State, arising from an accident caused by policemen who were chasing tanker whose driver allegedly lost control and rammed into the bus at the said checkpoint.
“We (CDHR) make bold to state that the aforementioned actions of the said policemen is not only barbaric but reckless and we call on the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yakubu Alkali to order the arrest and eventual prosecution of all the policemen involved in the dastardly act”, he stated.
Meanwhile, the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has commiserated with the families of the six palm oil traders who lost their lives in the accident.
Uduaghan who frowned at the razing of a police station near the scene of the incident, vowed that those responsible for the accident and the razing of the Ebrumede Police Post would be fished out and brought to book.
The governor said: “My heart goes out to the families of these women who lost their lives in this most unfortunate way. I pray the good Lord to grant them the strength to bear this loss.”
On the razing of the police station, the governor said: “It is erratic. People should not take laws into their hands; you cannot just come and burn a police station that was donated by a community because you are upset. It is not right and I do not think the community would be happy that the station has been burnt.”

Family › Policeman Murders Two Innocent Kids In Ibadan Hospital by obailala(op): 4:50pm On Nov 26, 2009 |
IBADAN — A POLICEMAN attached to Iyaganku Central Police Station, Ibadan went beserk Wednessday, following the death of his child at Oni Memorial Children Hospital, and sprayed tear gas into the ward leaving other children on admission at the time on danger list.
The name of the policeman was given as Mr. Raymond Egbongbonwuyi, and one of the sources at the hospital said he had service number 303529.
He was said to have been disturbed by the death of his three-year-old daughter who was taken to the hospital on Tuesday but died later that day after doctors battled fruitlessly to save her life.
When the policeman allegedly got to the hospital where the tragic story of his daughter was relayed to him, he allegedly removed all the drips being used to treat five other children in the hospital and sprayed them with the tear gas that he had on him, After satisfying his quest for vengeance on the innocent babies he was said to have descended on the doctors, beating them mercilessly.
It was sheer providence that the policeman was not armed with a rifle as he allegedly told the doctors and the nurses that they should thank their stars that he was not armed, else he would have shot all of them dead.
Three of the children were still being revived with the help of oxygen by the doctors at press time. Their names are Ekundayo Promise, Lawal Awal and Lawal Mariam.
The mobile policeman who was attached to the Iyaganku Central Police Station was said to have lost another child penultimate week in similar circumstances in another hospital.
According to an impeccable source at the hospital, the daughter of the policeman, Destiny Raymond was diagnosed of severe malaria, chest infection and burns and was treated for respiratory disorder.
Vanguard gathered that policemen from the Oluyole Police Division came to the rescue of other children in the government owned hospital.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adisa Bolanta told Vanguard that the affected policeman had been arrested but said none of the children has died. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2009/11/25/policeman-kills-two-children-in-ibadan-hospital/
Contrary to the commissioners statement, I heard that two kids died.
Another madness from NPF and they always try to cover up their mess |

Christianity Etc › Re: Is It Really Sinful To Take Alcohol? by obailala(m): 1:36pm On Sep 07, 2009 |
Drinking wine does not make one a sinner if he/she drinks moderately. After all, the Holy communion wine used in the Anglican and some other churches is alcoholic. The only problem is, How many people can actually drink moderately? This is the reason why it is generally outlawed for true Christians to drink. It is better avoided than fought
Also, I know there's somewhere in the bible that says we should avoid any action that could cause our neighbor to sin. U might be able to control urself, but what about the next man watching u? "ohh. . . if Mr Righteous can drink UDEME, who am i not to drink it?" If this man falls, u are responsible for misleading him. |

IS IT ENGLISH LANGUAGE THAT PEOPLE DONT UNDERSTAND OR IS IT THAT THEIR HEARTS ARE TOO HARDENED BY FOLLY? THE ANSWER TO ALL THIS ARGUMENTS CAN BE EXTRACTED FROM LUKE 7:33-34 KunleOshob: 33For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and ye say, `He hath a devil.' 34The Son of Man is come eating and drinking, and ye say, `Behold, a gluttonous man and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!' WINE ACCORDING TO THE OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY IS "an alcoholic drink made from the juice of grapes that has been left to ferment. BIBBER: somebody who regularly drinks alcohol (archaic) WOE TO ANYONE THAT SAYS TAKING ALCOHOL IS A SIN, COS HE/SHE WOULD BE IMPLYING THAT JESUS CHRIST WAS A SINNER |

No doubt, the military destroyed Nigeria and i still believe they are all Pots of Mess, BUT the civilians (YaraDULLa and co.) are not doing anything to prove this point.
With peeps like YaraDULLa still holding the mantle, the military will keep laughing at we civilians, and all our posts we put here condemning the military would just be mere assumptions. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Could It Really Be That A Person Can Be Born Gay? by obailala(m): 6:07am On Jun 06, 2009 |
Just like every other birth defect (Hermaphrodites, imbeciles etc), I believe know it is possiible to have a male child with excess female hormones. The boy would exxhibit lots of feminine characteristics from childhood. Instead of hanging out with the guys, he would prefer being with the girls. This is the stage where something has to be done in the form of counseling etc, else the boy may grow up into a gay.
God created the earth and everything therein (NORMAL BEINGS, MADmen, hemaphrodites, imbeciles, kleptos etc). He has his reasons for creating everyone in their form and he makes no mistakes.
Since everyone is born a sinner, then IT IS POSSIBLE FOR SOME PIPS TO BE BORN IN THIS EVIL FORM. It remains the duty of anyone born with these gay feelings to fight it (and not accept it) in order to do what is right. Thats the cross they have to carry till death, .eXcept say dem no wan reach heaven. |

Dear Nlanders
I applied for an Msc in Pipeline engineering (newcastle uni) and an Msc in Subsea engineering (Strathclyde uni). My heart is inclined to the pipeline course but since my application, I'm still yet to hear from newcastle. On the other hand, I have been offered admission for the Subsea course. I hav an idea of d prospects of pipeline engineering, but i'm not too sure of subsea engineering. . . Please i need quick advice on the Job prospects of these courses here at home cos i still this have this strong feeling that i should wait for my first choice, but I'm afraid that time is running out.
Contributions from anyone with experience in these fields would be highly appreciated. Thanks |
Career › Re: Diamond Bank Adopts New Workings Hours!--- 7pm Closing Time. by obailala(m): 2:11am On May 22, 2009 |
banking industry in niigeria runs this stupid tradition of enslaving its workers. i have two banker neighbors. They always return between 9 - 11pm. one even happens to be a manager in his bank and he comes back last.
Our banks have enough money, they should employ more workers and run shifts if necessary. its just the situation of this country that makes people still desire to work in banks even with all their nonsense. I wonder why the authorities aren't doin anything to check dis mess, (who is even d authority? )
Just imagine, we heard d other day of the zenith bank madam dat forced top management staff to kneel down, Slavery!!
There's still alot to be done but i still applaud d good step by diamond bank (dats if they would truly enforce it) |

monogees: Hi All,
Just reading through the post and as an ex student of the pipeline engineering department of the University of Newcastle (06" alumni) i would advise anyone who can get the visa to study to try as much as possible to go and "truly" get into school and get his or her MSc.
As i said earlier, i graduated in 2006 and presently working in the Houston Texas for Technip. Just like one of the post says, it would be alot better top get a job in the UK first before going to Nigeria to work. We were seven Nigerians in my class and only one went back home to work for Exxonmobile even though there came to our school then for recruitment alot of the guys didn't want to go back home. Get your MSc work for five years and go back home as an expatriate and you would get more respect and wage that befits your status as an engineer.
Rgrds
monogees Thanks man, I really appreciate your encouraging words. I would also like to go for the course in newcastle by sept.09 and your words really build my confidence about the course as regards employment prospects. I would also like to know what the course structure is like; -would there be field trips? -would there be industrial attachment practicals? -whats the general difficulty level of the course like? |
