Op lemme advice you based on my personal experience...... insecurity can cause you harm than good.... to you.... you thought you cared and was checking out on your love not knowing you're diving into a wrong destination.....it will only get worse that even when she's heavily pregnant on nursing a baby you'd want to monitor her movements and you'd graduate into getting annoyed when you can't access her.... you'd start suspecting that she's cheating on you... from there to domestic violence then murder (God forbid)

It must have been because there was something fishy, if not why should calling her boss be an issue? Did the boss relieve her of her position.
