PoliticsRe: Lagos Demolition: Fashola Unfair - Victims by olanajim(m): 11:32am On Jan 16, 2009
@aisha2,
Long time indeed. It is well here.

@topic,
I know that everyone will agree with fashola's act. But when we look deeper, we will see a policy that is inhuman and cruel!

I am a keen admirer of fashola and I have been siding him all along. But somehow, I have noticed how we blindly ignore something of higher important just because he is clearing Lagos.

To begin with, a survey of Lagos inhabitants will show that more than 70% of them are sme owners. Of these percentage, one in 5 of them operates from, markets, and on the streets. To clear them off the street, we need to know why they are on the street in the first place. Fashola cannot claim ignorance of the fact that these people cannot afford the high cost of rent being paid by new generation shopping complexes, which are grossly inadequate anyway. To ask a trader making less than 500 naira per day to buy a small shop at 1 milion naira is wicked and insensitive. What is more, these so called shanties are often "acredited" by local govt authorities and many of them even get receipts!

Of what use is driving them away when you can't produce alternative? Making lagos look like japan is not an excuse to impoverish people. The oft repeated slogan that the people were warned is a generalised truth that is untrue in most cases. I have seen it. I have witnesed the demolition exercise and can't but wonder why we just have to shut our eyes to the tear of people whose only sin was that they are poor and socially disadvantaged!

PoliticsRe: Lagos Demolition: Fashola Unfair - Victims by olanajim(m): 9:37am On Jan 16, 2009
Fashola is creating a domino effect. It is true that he mean well, but he will sooner wake up one day and find the real effect of his action.

Methink as long as there are no alternatives, then people's tear will soon flood his office.

Christianity EtcRe: Wole Soyinka Does Not Believe In God by olanajim(m): 9:16am On Jan 16, 2009
Xtolove,
If you say I am son of the devil, so be it. At least you said it. For you to say it, then you must have been very, very familiar with the devil as to recognise his son. Your familiarity to him however is an indication that you are probably his confidant since I have never heard of anyone married to the devil talkless of his having a son.

In short, back to sender!

@gangan,
How has the thread degenerated to zone where God is put on trial? This is not about God attributes or whatever. It is just that the poster wanted an answer to his question. Unfortunately, he doesn't look like he want an answer.

PoliticsRe: Three Versions Of 2009 Budget In Circulation by olanajim(m): 10:14pm On Jan 15, 2009
Well that is not shocking. You guys will even be amase to hear that the reason House of Rep is refusing to pass the budget as done in the senate was the Discovery of 40b projects that had already been commisioned about two years ago! When the House committee asked for explanation, the ministry said "it was a mistake!"

Ojo Maduak had been avoiding the house since december. He claimed to have renovated some embasies at bilions of naira but could not provide the names of the embasies!

I think the house should be commended for refusing to rubber stamp the budget as presented by the president.

The reason for 3 budgets is that the House caught them unaware. The president submited a budget, but the ministries (and civil servants) submited another. Yet, the house have their own version which was harmonised after the president first sent the budget to the house. . .

Now, I understand how corruption spread.

@biowande,
Never take a gamble of that magnitude without double checking the authencity of the story.

If the poster is real, should have got a house by now because she set herself the goal of one month. It is not as if I am doubting her. But by the fact that she had not returned to the thread to answer questions, she have put a question mark on the story.

All the best.
RomanceRe: Is This Weird? by olanajim(m): 9:40pm On Jan 15, 2009
Just because she came from a well to do family does not mean she will always have money at hand to make a call. You said she gave you gifts, what will you do if she think you are worthless for taking her gifts?

You should have told her you don't have money when she asked for help instead of using her and then hurting her love.

To your question, yes, it is weird.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Calls From Unknown Numbers by olanajim(m): 9:24pm On Jan 15, 2009
@iice,
I thought it was unknown (hidden) number. Well it is natural to pick it. If one run out of credit or is using a second line (as many of us has more than one lines), it is wrong to ignore it.

But if the fellow hide the number, I would not even touch the phone.

if that is why you open the thread, then you are wasting your talents. Soyinka is not on nairaland, he won't get your message.

I suggest you open a church near his house so he can hear the message of ONE TRUE GOD.

if he just overheard, then he would remember what she said last before the i love u 2. He can't just hear only one sentence of the dozens and base his judgement on that.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Calls From Unknown Numbers by olanajim(m): 5:38pm On Jan 15, 2009
I don't even bother myself with such call. If the person hide his number then, he is not real.

I am glad, you agree at last that Nigeria is NOT the capital of Hell.

Case closed!
PoliticsRe: Is Nigeria The Capital Of Hell? by olanajim(m): 11:05am On Jan 15, 2009
I am not taking it too serious. I am only trying to put an end to this negative mentality in the only way I know better-asking questions.

So you finally agree that no matter where you are, your root is Nigeria? If that is so, then you either accept one of the two propositions:
1. Nigeria is Capital of Hell, and therefore, your root is from Hell, no matter where you live now.
2. Nigeria is not the capital of Hell though things are not working as it should.

What do you think, hajifaty?
RomanceRe: After Settling Our Quarrel, I Got A Shocker by olanajim(m): 10:58am On Jan 15, 2009
You know, it is preposterous for partners to always think negative of one another at the slightest suspicio. That show sign of distrust, however small it is.

I am not saying that the possibility of the lady cheating should be completely written off. I think, you can't get the truth you seek as long as you are biased in your thinking. Give her the benefit of doubt and stop eavesdropping on her phone conversation (intentionally). She will give herself away.

But you guys are just coming together after what look like crisis time. The best way to re-enact the old good time is not by questioning her everytime she call or receive a call.

Let the dust settle first. Let her confirm that she is back to stay before you start acting as if you already married her.

As far as I am concerned, she may well not have make up her mind completely about your reconciliation. She may be putting you on probation.

Use this time to build trust rather than creating chasm in the relationship. If she is destined to be yours, you would not fail to win her.

Be, matured.
PoliticsRe: Is Nigeria The Capital Of Hell? by olanajim(m): 10:38am On Jan 15, 2009
Nevertheless, your DNA remains Hellish. You can't change that unless you destroy yourself. Can you, Hajifaty?
