some-girl:

no such thing is fake or real igbo. If you speak any igbo dialect and bear an igbo name, you're igbo.

True but sometimes you ve got to let pple claim whatever they feel like cos no matter how you try, they have made up their mind and have passed it to other pple. For instance, I have seen Bamidele Ajayi, Kunbi Aladeloba from Edo (the Ajayi guy claims to be married to a Yoruba woman but each time I see the 2 of them, I smile). Then Omolade Alade, Opeyemi Omowa from itsekiri, just to mention a few. And going by names and language, itshekiri is just an arms distance from the Yorubas. Yet, nobody is draging with the other.

Even if you drag this issue till eternity, those who will agree will and those who will deny it will deny it. Irrespective of where you belong, just do your best, leave foot prints and walk away.

Then you haven't travelled widely enough. There are Nnekas that become Anika, Femis that become Fee. Hell, I know an Abimbola that is now Bim.

The fact that you have not met such a person does not make it a lie. There are freaking 8 billion people in this world and about 160-170 million Nigerians worldwide. I seriously doubt that you've met even half of them so don't you dare call me a liar.

Lie a little bit. . .not too much
You can never find a Femi turn Fee cos Femi had already been shortened from Obafemi, Adefemi, Oluwafemi to what it is. So, Fee or whatever, you will not find.

Thank you !!! She is the worst example of a coward who shirks the responsibility of putting her money where her mouth is. Yet she wants to retain toxic and unreasonable pessimism plus the right to speak in a manner that shows she see nothing good in anything or anyone to do with Nigeria. That would be even semi acceptable if she were not such a coward who prefers to malign others constantly while not ready , even for one second, to inspect her own role or obligation - however miniscule.

Just find the thread where Jarus asked me , Beaf and Kobo to defend the Presidential candidates we had all backed vociferously. I.e Ribadu, GEJ and Buhari respectively. I took up the challenge and so did Beaf. Kobojunkie instead chickened out with some pathetic excuse. Jarus had to then draft in someone else to argue Buhari's case !!! Classic cowardice!!!! I.e criticise everyone and everything all day long yet 'dissapear' when called upon to facilitate , in your own little way, the change you claim to want !!!!

Folks like Kobo are not fit to criticise Fashola or even Bode George because we know she will certainly not step up to the platform if given a chance. I will continue to taunt her with this example because it shows she has no right to be so critical of others when she is not even ready to accept a small challenge to do her bit and sway opinions when it really mattered - i.e before the elections. She is just a perennial self-hating pessimist who criticises for the sake of it and loves the sound of her own voice . You will never find her saying anything good/constructive about Nigeria or Nigerians. Like someone noted, she will criticise Fashola for inaction yet , when he acts, she only wants to look for negatives !! Abeg , Eko Ile and Alj Harem, is this even a person to respond to given how predictably negative, pessimistic and devoid of constructive criticism her argument will be?

I knew this long time ago and stopped commenting on any of her posts.

Politics / Re: How Bankole Shared N10 Billion Among House Members by oludashmi(f): 12:10pm On Jun 07, 2011
umechuma:

In a statement released on Sunday, Mr Bankole issued the first authoritative confirmation of an intimidating payroll which the outgoing lawmakers approved for themselves alongside the Senate in 2010.

Mr Bankole said the loan was not a personal facility but was sourced on the directive of the House to foot the large increment in quarterly allowances approved for each member.

He said the directive was reached by a 37-member committee and endorsed by an executive session of the house.

However, as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively, Mr Bankole and Usman Nafada, were not part of the proceeds from the loan since they already earned a whopping N100 million and N80 million quarterly each, the statement signed by Media Aide to Mr Bankole, Idowu Bakare said.

"Before the increment quarterly allowance to the office of the Speaker was N100million while his deputy received N80 million. The loan in question was distributed among other principal officers and the remaining members of the House," the statement read.

All feed fat

In the distribution as shown in the statement, Mr Bankole and Mr Nafada's allowances remained at their initial N100 million and N80 million respectively, while those of the House Leaders rose from N46 million to N60 million.

The Deputy Leader took N57 million instead of the former N43 million while the Chief Whip took N55 million instead of the initial N41 million.

The deputy Whip received N54.5 million instead of N40.5 million and the Minority Whip took N50 million from N36 million.

Other members, including the members of the so-called Progressives, led by Dino Melaye, who claimed the loan was not known to the House, collected N42 million instead of N28 million.

In all, the differential of N14 million each for the 360 members, except for the Speaker and the Deputy, accounted for N5.012 billion and for two quarters which the loans were drawn, the amount became N10.024 billion with interest, the former speaker claimed.

Nigerians are the happiest pple on earth (http://thehappinessshow.com/HappiestCountries.htm)
The most populous in Africa with about 250 ethnic groups (Although I disagree with the ethnic number cos most of them are dialects not languages)
The entertainment industry

Hardworking and smart working pple (first to rise, last to go to bed)

Health / Re: Hiv Positive Guy In Dilenma And Needs your Help. by oludashmi(f): 11:13am On May 12, 2011
@OP
Just a quick one. . . .

1. Go for another test in two more hospitals.

2. You havent got AIDS, you 've got HIV!
AIDS kills but HIV with an effective medication, positive thinking and living your life as it was before you discovered, you will live the VERY NUMBER OF YEARS you are meant to live on earth. I can prove this to you on one or two active and ever lively pple I know. Infact, HIV living persons are found in all organisations (only that few say it out). HIV does not kill, its the ignorance, fear and inferiority complex that kills! HIV only puts you in a careful status in your private life and between a group of pple.

3. Medication. . .
Go for your medication and use it EFFECTIVELY
Dont miss a dose and take your heath advise seriously
Eat balance diet and avoid mosquito bites. Your retro-viral drugs will ensure the HIV does not develop to AIDS. So you are ok.

3. Build your faith. . .
Nobody can build it for you except you!
Fast and talk to God about it. Tell him to help your faith. Make a covenant with him concerning the healing (the covenant may only be a testimony or whatever your heart wishes). Keep telling him until it happens.
A guy recently gave a testimony of his HIV healing, he discovered it when he wanted to donate blood for his relative. He recounted how he kept praying and talking to God (as if he sees him) in his own little way. He said he kept telling God to heal him even though he was newly born-again and wasnt familiar with the bible. Today, he has gone to several hospitals for a re-test and found negative!
Please and please, its not the CHURCH that matters, but YOU! Your healing could come via devotion in your room. Just be persistent and be strong.

4. Confess positive status. . .
Say to yourself, "I am getting better day-by-day".
Say it and mean it. Get appropriate words from the bible for confession

5. Open up to your family. . .
Yes, they will be disappointed and will almost give up on you. . .its normal. But your strength will be their strength and your faith will be their faith. If you look as though the world is on your head, they will start writing their will without your name but if you look and act strong, they will suddenly be strong and join you in prayers.

Get up! Eat! Drink! And live! Dont let it stay on your mind for a minute. You are better than an hospitalised malaria patient whos live on the line.

Culture / Re: "Igbo" is to "Yoruba". "Ibo" is to "Yorooba" by oludashmi(f): 1:39pm On May 10, 2011
But the prob is with the ibos themselves and its only on NL that I see this disagreement. . . .Also, you should know that pple did not just wake up in the morning to call you whatever, but your pple called it for them the way they want to be called.

Up till now, 60% of SE pple that I know say ibo at every conversation and I remember asking someone if it is ibo or igbo but he said the lang is igbo while the pple are ibo while another lady said vice versa.

I have seen another who said both the lang and the pple are ibo/igbo, that the 'g' difference is only on the type of ibo dialect. Can anybody also remember a writer sometime on the dailies who claimed that they are ibos while their lang is igbo. So the education should be to the ibos then, correction and awareness to others.
