Ibrahim Garba Maryam shared these photos of dilapidated school classrooms in Kano State. See what he wrote after the cut...

This is how thousands of classrooms look like in Kano state but he is still building bridges that has more commission rather than humanity. Building new classes is not the matter what matters fix the old schools and give more priority to social auditing and biogenic needs . Just imaging he is demolishing schools in ungogo local gvt to expand roads . What is the secrets in bridge building and motor parks while women a dying at child birth , unqualified teachers, insufficient female teachers poor infrastructure , poor health facilities , poor road networks , public school moving in reverse gear and private schools encouraging sodomy . We are waiting to see gvt respond on Hassan Gwarzo sodomy committee reports you can deny the media to cover up the case but we are wise to tell the parents . Unpunished Hassan Gwarzo is an encouragement and support of gay rights indirectly . Pls minister come down to Kano and secretly visits our schools in rural areas in Kano . Where is the transparency in good governanance"

Another "smh" post from a myopic Nigerian. Because you can have a chinko phone with 5mp camera, all you can think of is passing misinformation. Yes we need to critic government but we should be constructive critics. How do you expect hem to improve when the little they have achieved is pelted with lies by ignorant bystanders?

Someone goes to a village and takes the pic of a dilapidated school structure and labels this as what happens in THOUSANDS of schools in kano is absolute lie and misinformation without verifiable facts(a picture from a school is not a representation of what happens everywhere). This can be likened to a foreigner visiting ghetto parts of Ajegunle in Lagos and going on CNN to lament how Lagos is all Ajegunle like.

I have been to kano in the last one year, and I am most impressed by the level of schools construction done by the previous administration. Not a single LGA would you get to that you won't find at least 10 schools with brand new buildings all clad on the roof with paintings of kwankwasiya. You can also go to the city centre and see thousand of school girls waking up so early to board girls only buses that convey them to schools all provided by the same administration. It may seem like baby steps but if this kept up in Kano for just a decade, you would be impressed with the turn around they would have achieved.

Kano may not be there in terms of education, but it is utterly distasteful that someone would bring such absolute lies to the frontpage without verifiable facts(few pics from a school ain't a true picture).

How many schools has op visited? What is their names and what locations are they?

Let the op or whoever wants to show us how bad education is go round and show us the hundreds of schools that are in such dilapidated states. You want to show investigative journalism, you would do well to do your damn job well.

Trading and investing is not a get rich quick scheme. Those that come in to the market thinking they can just deposit £100 in an account and then make thousands each week find out the hard way by just losing cash instantly. Get the right mindset and get yourself educated to be able to attack the market in a professional manner
Although i do agree with some points in your opening article but recent releases about insider trading, Barclays fixing libor rates, HSBC scams and so on makes this the normal case of the small guys being wiped out.

There is nothing wrong aiming for 20 to 50% profit in a short period in a biz but most people have been wiped out by the manipulation of the market by the top guns and those at the helms of affairs which makes small time trading to be akin to GAMBLING. How do you expect people to succeed when the movement of the market clearly goes against all technical and fundamental analysis? Ain't it like throwing money into the "dark".

You may say, the insider trading is small compared to the volume of the trade but it is still significant to cause enough worries. I knew of many guys who had info of an imminent removal of the gag by the swiss authorities on the euro even before it was announced. They made a killing while a broker as big as (Liteforex or is it Alpari) went bankrupt taking huge sums of people's savings and investments down the drain.

My simple advice is for people who see this as their only means of livelihood to please desist from trading and just find other risk averse biz. You would lose your earnings. QED!

Wish you guys luck but that's the fact.

Try st. Clares' , titilola, ebunoluwa etc. Most schools we have now in Nigeria are just almost the same jare. Parents just need to intensify the efforts in guiding the children aright and not leaving them entirely in the hands of the school system.

Lastly,It also depends on your area. What side do you stay?

FamilyRe: Advice Needed On Mother-in-law To Be. by onegig(m):
@oromitope26

I don't know what's hard about this that people just keep "arguing" back and forth.

I see you are from a certain part of the country and would advise you based on my understanding of the culture and technicality of such area as regards MILs.

She asked you for money and also asked your mum for it. Seems she sees you as well to do and a "solution to her problems".

You are having a bias against her already and these would surely worsen your relationship with her in future.
You are marrying this guy and his mum is now your mother also. See her as your mother and define what your reaction would be.

I would advise you shelve all these brash ideas been bandied around on this thread. Some people don't understand what tact and wisdom is and they believe things are just black and white as regards issues relating to inter family relationship.

I would advise you talk to her. Be frank and seek facts. Be her daughter. Ask her what causes a drain of her resources. What she needs the money for. She might be investing in something bad and needs a third perspective to make her see reason to stop such. Most times you don't have to do the bidding of people before you solve the situation.

She seems desperate to have asked your mum for it and it seems she has incurred a bad debt from a biz she invested in that her son had warned her about in the past. Her main reason for asking you not to let him in on it.

Asking questions and clarifications would go a long way in sorting things.

When you know the reasons she is asking for the money then you can now genuinely make an unbiased decision based on that. Is she spending it on frivolities or it is just that the cost of running the family is being a burden on her or maybe a bad loan or something.

If its the cost of running the family or something genuine. Tell her you don't have the money if you genuinely don't have but promise her you would see to it that your fiance makes better provision when next he is sending money down. Or if you have a little change, a gift. Something you can't expect to get back. Send it to her and tell that's the little you can help with.

And there is nothing wrong telling your man that you called his mum to find out how she is doing and she complained about how things are not that rosy. He gets the hint and would try and do what's right.

Tact and wisdom goes a long way than being brash. You would have to deal with her for a long time and its better you get it right from the start. A wise woman holds and builds her home.

Just an after thought. You said she has 5 kids. 2 employed and 3 unemployed. Ever asked your fiance, the status of the 3 other and what's up with them?

FashionRe: SNFP:Social Network Fashion Police by onegig(m): 5:10pm On Oct 10, 2015
This may fly in a music video or something razz.

When you wear a suit or blazer. The first point that would make it a yay or wtf is how fitted it is.

1. This doesn't look fitted. the trousers look a bit extra size, shoes are big and the blazer or wtr seems oversized and too long for him. He doesn't look smart in.

2. Colour combo is not spectacular. The blazer colour doesn't go with the trousers that much. The white inner should be deflecting the colours a bit but it just looks awkward to me. Would have preferred a lemon green shirt. The pocket handkerchief's colour and tie is also a zero and to me a darker shade of brown would have been spot on for that shoe. Men aren't ladies with loots of colours that easily blend so when mixing colours stick to a max of 3 to 4 colours. I can spot like 5 different colours here. TOO MUCH.

I would rate this 4/10. He looks like he just quickly arranged this without a proper check.

She is simply abiding to the bible verse that says, "husband and wife are one in the same flesh". undecided

I don't see a need for "thank you" since two has come together to become one and whatever you offer & vice-versa represents both, even though it doesn't hurt to say it sha. grin
People like you should take a back seat when issues like these are being discussed. Lack of appreciation might appear a small issue but it is a big issue that can lead a marriage to other big problems. Even Almighty God commands us to appreciate his blessings by worshipping him let alone a human being.

He is not happy,if he was he won't be here opening a thread.

A simple thank you darling. I appreciate all your efforts won't kill her. Marriage is to be enjoyed not endured in pain and headache.
FamilyRe: I Dont Know What To Do About My Wife's Behaviour. by onegig(m):
If there is anything i fear in marriage. It is this issue of over familiarization to the point that people tend to neglect their chosen spouse and take them for granted. If there is anything that pains one to the bone. It's an unappreciative person.

Op. Just please sit her down and talk to her. Or just send what you typed exactly here to her in a mail or whatever and wait to see her response. Sometimes we are oblivious of our bad behaviors to others until we are told of such. Her reaction should be what would determine your next point of action.

that's for the coach to answer. But the current crop of defenders would not take us anywhere. Just look at the silly goals they were conceding last week. Same thing this week. Same with the Norwich match.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Brendan Rodgers Liverpool Manager Sacked by onegig(m): 8:03pm On Oct 04, 2015
Emasel:
Good riddance to bad rubbish! Rodgers has failed to deliver and it's good, the management of LFC has shown him the exit door.

Where do I start from?

Is it the fact that LFC lost the 2013/2014 EPL title because of his poor tacticshuh

Or the fact that after giving him good money to sign players, he goes to the market and sign average/mediocre playershuh

Which right thinking coach will sign 12 players in one seasonhuh Thats even more than the 11 players that can be on the pitch....

One distinct feature about a good manager is the ability to discover fresh talents, sign them and develop them to be part of his team. Rodgers is zero in this area.....I cannot even pick one good player Rodgers discovered and signed in his 31/2 years stay at Anfield.....

Goodbye Rodgers; Liverpool fans have had enough of you!

#YNWA
Exactly. He signs average players with all the money he gets. Most annoying is him not knowing when to praise and when to be frank and scold the players. Look at the rubbish we played today and just listen to what he has to say after the match. "We showed character, the players were excellent". Just felt like switching the tv off instantly.

The defence has been very bad consistently for 4 years and he has done nothing to improve it. I can't believe we would be leaning on skrtel and the other average defenders as our main defence line. The bench is zero. With the poor defenders you would still see him playing 3 defenders. Even juventus with better and crazy defenders don't always use such high defence line.

He plays players out of position, does not know how to place a good attacking formation to achieve what he wants. No game changing tactics. Can't read a game and make appropriate changes.

We were lucky 2 seasons ago because we had suarez and sterling who were shipping in goals but always conceding high number of goals even to small teams. Teams like crystal palace scoring 3 goals on our home turf is sacrilege. In short. It was way over due.

I don't know what kept him in that position so long. I am so happy he is gone. Next coach should be selling toure, sakho, lovren, skrtel and all other average players by january.

He believed in God you say. Do you know what his theory of relativity is all about?
What about it? The relativity theory has not been fully applied to depths of deep understanding. On the surface it may seem opposing to any Supreme being ideal but newer research are proving such premises as incorrect.

Research into quantum physics has shown that there seems to be a deterministic threshold to almost everything in the universe. Nothing is random. This alone throws all notions held by some people out of the window.

Even medical research into how the brain works tells us our brain knowns beforehand of any action that you would take. Like there's a video recorder there in the head which just plays and we act it out.

What does that tell you?

Basic fact is. Science is learning. Heck we only know 10% of what lies in the ocean that surrounds us let alone billions of kilometres away in the milky way. We were just able to capture an high res image of Pluto for the first. Just imagine.

Any scientist who would come to such abrupt conclusion needs serious help.

There a thousand tripartite meetings going on and Nigeria can't attend all especially if they didn't recieve an invite or declined such due to lack of necessary manpower to attend such.

Also fact is the site where the stonning is being done can only accommodate about 300,000 pilgrims per hour when we have 2.1 million pilgrims attending the event.

How do you expect the left over to wait over 6 hours to go for their turn? What do you think would happen? Won't people push through and thus causing death through asphixation?

We need to be looking at such areas and improving such aspects. Are they doing something? Yes. Is it enough? Definitely not.
IslamRe: Understanding The Hajj Stampede by onegig(m):
Inna Lilah wa inna ilehi rojihun. may the soul of the dead rest in peace and may He grant them Al Jannah.

However, tbaba1234 I totally disagree with your submissions. The Saudi authorities should take responsibility for these. All these excuses people are giving is utter rubbish and pathetic. Say it to the people who are concerned and let them make sweeping changes.

They can't tell us they weren't expecting such a crowd. This is not the first time this is happening so don't give me that excuse of they weren't aware of the challenges.

What stops them from enforcing strict rules?
What?

What stops them from reducing the number of pilgrims?

Most people who go there are actually return pilgrims and not new ones. Nigerians and some others who go yearly because they have the means to when its only required they go once in a lifetime. This set of pilgrims are the greater percentage of those who attend. First time attendees are just minute

Ban anyone who has attended in the last 5 years from coming.

Improve drastically infrastructure. Divide the large swats of land with concrete and prevent "the fluid dynamics" where pressure flows through large crowds.

Enforce strict rules against pilgrims that stay on the walkways, if they enforce it, no one would dare stay on the walkways.

Build more cheaper camps and hostels so people won't need to stay on the streets.

The Hillsborough stadium stampede led to the redesign of all stadiums amounting to billions of pounds and such has stopped happening. Have you heard of another stampede in a football match since then?
Nope. So what excuses are you guys pandering around?

Its not so hard to make changes, making excuses is what makes the Saudi authorities relax and not effect the needed changes, people just don't take their responsibility serious, you have to force them to. It's a sacrilege that people would die while performing an holy rite.

What resources have they sunk into educating incoming pilgrims about movement and restrictions?

Nope....almost everything is printed in Arabic and you want people to comply to instructions. More like talking verbal instructions to deaf people.

Abeg...let's say the truth and put pressure on them to do what's right. India hosts bigger pilgrimage by Hindu worshippers some topping over 40million people and we don't hear such recurring stampedes let alone an event that is yearly and is expected.
The needless deaths is just so annoying and I am pissed off seriously but you guys bringing up excuses for negligence of duty just makes me more angry.
