Bolowolowo:Honestly... I feel disgusted by the newer buildings I see in most Unis. It seems like they just called some roadside bricklayers to come mount the blocks and move on. There was one faculty building in my school they just completed, the pillars were so badly built it was lopsided and the general finish was an eyesore. Compare it to the walkways they built in 1970s and you would marvel at the difference in quality and works. They just mount stupid blocks everywhere. No creativity, no mixture of other materials except blocks. Like wtf. |
Without helmet or safety harness? When it happens they would blame village people . Congratulations to them though. |
I don't get what all of you are about VAR or the REF. i guess you guys don't read that's why most are just frosting on the mouth. Read the basic handball rules and understand the ref was spot on not to have not called the Handball. It is an offence if a player:http://www.theifab.com/laws/chapter/32/section/92/ The first incidence was clearly not an handball. He didn't move his hand to obstruct the ball neither did he make himself bigger with his hands. The second incident, his hands were in a natural position and sterling was 2 yards away and hit the ball against his hands. His hands weren't raised or moving at the time of play. According to the basic handball rules both aren't handballs. Except you are guys looking for armless defenders those calls would never be called as a penalty. So maybe you guys read up and understand the rules before arguing blindly. |
CeterisXVII:Can you kindly read what you quoted? Who told you i don't know that cards are more durable than paper? The NIN is the most important part of this process. The government has not appropriated funds in recent years for the print out of the cards so the officials are just registering and giving you the slip to hold on to but even the slip is even much more useful in the current scheme of things as your card does not carry your National Identity Number and would require a card reader to extrac( which most government organization eg. FIRS etc or private agencies like Banks don't even have except you go the extra mile by visiting an Immigration service office for them to help you read such information but this key information is available on your current slip. You can scan, digitally store and reprint your slip. I have had colleagues who required the Identity Number for use but were not able to access it because they already have the cards which has to be DIGITALLY accessed before you can get the NIN. So please read carefully before responding next time. The basic fact is the current slip is more than sufficient for whatever purpose you want to use it for. |
Op. No money has been appropriated in recent years for the print of the cards but honestly i don't even know why you need the card because the ID number is the most important thing. Also the cards are kind of useless as most places except for the Immigration service don't ha |
lilwetdick:At what interest rate was mortgage for each ? What was the initial deposit for both properties? Also mortgages are amortized in a way that front loads the interest owed and mortgages are actually not given with an interest for profit making so i honestly don't think it's a wise investment getting a one to build a property just to rent out and make profit. I would need all the numbers to be able to calculate if it would be profitable. I honestly think you should speak to your financial analyst. |
naijadrivablog:When posting we need to factor in the audience. The average Nairaland person is not worth more than 5million naira in both liquid cash and assets. Let's even drag the net wider I can say with all confidence that over 70% of Nigerian families have a combined income of less than 5million naira a year. So where is even that disposable funds to buy lands? Why do you think we have a chronic housing problem? Not like the lands and houses aren't there, the purchasing power is just non existent for the general populace. Is it someone struggling to rent a 1bd flat in Ikotun that would have the residual millions he can use to buy lands and wait for it to turn profit in 15 years? You can't even go take loans in the money market to fund such because the average loan rates and tenor are much higher than whatever profit you intend getting. Don't even get me started on building flats to rent out. The people making money in the real estate markets are the agents. You sell a land you had no single investment or capital inside and take a cut of 5% to 15%. Except those who have endless capital they buy large expense of land at a discount due to the economics of scale and sell out in bits but how many have such capital? Let's be realistic please. |
femeritus:Honestly, I won't be here touting a biz idea. But the best biz are those you are well grounded in and know the ins and out. So I would advise you look inward and see skills you have and invest in such. If you are the type that isn't really that handy or technical then maybe the money market is a viable option. Let me give you a practical example. A friend sells some high end graphic cards. I was Looking to divest and we got orders for about 100. Margin of profit was like 30% at the end i muddled up the orders because I wasn't just really vast in such markets. I am very good at computing but the graphics card market was a bit new. Instead of ordering the small form type we ordered the tower type. Also there were better markets to order such from but we ordered from a source that was much more expensive. At the end we are battling to even break even as we had to sell at cost price not considering the stress involved. So I really can't tout any ideas. There are lots of investment opportunities out there even treasury funds . The basic is just do your due diligence and know the risks. |
naijadrivablog:You guys just come online and post half truths and whatnot. Please show me one single advert from 2005 where a plot of Land in Lekki 1 or 2 was 500k. Yeah , real estate might bring you profits but for all its so called ROIs it's capital intensive and except you are doing large scale purchases which is out of the reach of the average Joe on the street, you are just wasting your time. A plot of land in Ibeshe Ikorodu was generally sold for N250k in 2006/2007 . The minimum wage as at then was N13,000 and NYSC corpers were being paid 9500 or so. Petrol was N35 or N45 as at then, now it's hovering around N150. Inflation was at 18% as of January 2007. After all said and done as at today, that same land can't fetch you more than 2Million in the same Ibeshe Ikorodu. That's a paltry 600% return on investment after 12years. If you factor in inflation rates and CPI you would understand the profit margin isn't more than 10% . That's fucking outrageous for a long term capital intensive investment. If i had a residual income of ONLY 250k as at 2007 to invest,I am sure i wouldn't be receiving 2million as a worthy return after 12 years. So you guys should stop touting lands and houses as an eldorado investment option. If you had so much residual income laying fallow you can go tie it up buying landed properties as an hedge against inflation but if you have limited capital and have a viable biz that gives you 30% to 40% returns on investment year on year please plough such funds into the biz. You would be better off. |
Let's do the maths. A semester is 14 weeks. That's 7* 14 weeks=98days. 10000/98days=N102naira per day. If you eat 3x per day that is an average of 30naira per meal which is impossible except you want to be eating coaster biscuits and pure water(morning, day and night) That's just on feeding alone. Won't you buy toiletries, recharge card or even pay for transportation? You would still pay for faculties fees, make Photocopies and buy pen and books. To say it's impossible is an understatement. I would be marveled if you pull this off. Kindly find other sources that can add an extra 10k. |
This is what happens when you thrust school leavers without basic teaching skills into a live environment. OP you were right to teach them what was in the book but when teaching you need to be aware of your environment, the age of the kids you are taking and a lot of other factors. Sex education is still something frowned upon in our society even in the so called developed world. We have lots of conservative cultures and movements going against such. So when teaching such classes on those subject matter try as much as possible to be brief and relate things to their local environment. I wouldn't go to the North and start teaching kids about blizzards because it's alien to the environment although i can make a passing comment about it. Best wishes and please try as much as possible to stay out of politically charged atmosphere. They always warn you guys in camp. |
ednut1:Nothing wrong with marriages but the shitty people in it Also, I am 100% sure he saw the red flags that she was dirty, had anger issues and was lazy but no the big boobs and fine face would not allow him see all these big flaws, address them and help her get rid of it before they got married. As for OP honestly there is no advice for you. Either you move on or continue suffering the pains. No adult changes behaviors they have built up over the years overnight. It has to come personally from them that they want to make painstaking efforts to correct the ills in their lives....until then you are talking to a brick wall. |
It seems stupidity runs in Nigeria. Trying to promote cashless policies and mobile banking and now you are introducing this? People are weary of online banking before and are just starting to embrace it and now you do this? It's commonsense that the amount we spend on maintaining cash, the inefficiency of a cash based economy and disadvantages is far greater than whatever revenue this is going to generate. Highest you make 10bn per year on such taxes, how much would the country lose from people boycotting cashless means of doing business? |
baby124:This right there is why Nigeria can never be good. There are too many cowards who enjoy the pain and suffering meted on them by their oppressors and they go out of their way to attack people trying to set them free. No one is talking about the acts of these lecturers and how it is against ethics and damages the credibility of institutions or the grades they award. What everyone is asking is what bias the whistleblower has, her motives and her personality and why BBC? Of what purpose to the topic at hand are all these useless questions they are asking? What exactly is their biz with whatever bias she has? Can we talk about the crimes and the victims? No they want to dumb down the story so they can discredit it and continue with their insanity. Honestly, recent topics in the country and the responses of a large cross section of the so called youths have shown we have a VERY BIG ISSUE. WE have a culture that deters and suprresses growth and that's why poverty can never be the ended in Nigeria and the country would continue to be a shithole until there is a whole change of values and culture that we are made up of. I don't see that changing anytime soon because those affected don't even see an issue with it. Report a Yahoo boy and you are hating. Tell someone to do the right thing and they say respect their age. Bukola Dakolo reported a rape and all they are saying is she did it because the Pastor was famous, that if he were to be a nonentity that she would have kept mum. Like i can't wrap my head around how they carry out such mental gymnastics and arrive at their so called line of thoughts. |
One would have thought Buhari with all his military experience would have fashioned a way around these and tried as much as possible to create a safe zone but nah he is clueless and doesn't even show any zeal in solving this. Truth is, to end this war you need to find a way of cutting off their supplies and that's where the work of intelligence agencies comes in but ours are so dumb because we have put square pegs in round holes and money is the sole aim of most of these officers. Buhari and his clueless cohorts should be working with countries like Niger and Sudan. Someone, somewhere is selling arms and munitions to these guys and is profiting from the lingering crisis. I very much doubt they are stilll using arms taken from the Nigerian Army from as far back as 2014 to fight their cause because that goes against any logic. |
AeroplaneApple:So PFA hasn't changed since all these years. It was so brazen then that i felt like the ladies involved actually just enjoyed the act. |
Breaststroke:Honestly, i don't know how some people reason. It's not ego, it's most likely self esteem issues and inadequacies. As long as your woman isn't the type to go "bragging" around and telling the whole world who feeds who,(can't even be with someone like that we won't last a week) I doubt there should be an issue. It's common sense finance. If you really need to show your ego about it. Start paying her rent for the house . At least you are still keeping the money in the family. |
Just imagine the folks up here. With all the pointers in the article. The only thing they picked out was a phrase that's irrelevant to the main ideas shared. |
Can we get a big hot rod and use it to keep this silly man shut? I think the media are the ones giving him unwarranted coverage. Someone that needs his head checked. When has it become the job of a religious society to judge a government? |
jideflash:It's dumb people who can't rationalize points that do that. For them it's us against them instead of making decisions based on facts. Their type are the ones who would support evil and look the other side as long as it is their kit and kin that's the oppressor. As for Sowore , as widely traveled and exposed as he is I can't really wrap my head around the statements he made. There's a difference between requesting people to go out there to protest and demand for better governance and one where you wanted the regime change of a "democratically elected" (even if the election was a sham) government . He was just plain stupid and should have known better. There are more level headed ways of doing things. You don't need to SPELL F.u.ck you to someone to pass your message across. He gave them a nail and cross to hack him on. Also a large section of Nigerians he is trying to liberate are actually beneficiaries of the rot in system and they are part of or even worse than the set of people you see in government nowadays. As long as they own some fanciful android or Apple phones and can gossip off blogs and social media , they are fine with their status quo. So why take stupid risks for stupid people? |
Some people need to stop talking honestly. Same HK police that has been brutalising it's citizens because of protests. Maybe he should tune out of the TV stations he watches and see live feeds of police choking people and even going as far clubbing others with their batons. If anything the police officers are same almost everywhere |
Dee60:We have dumb people leading us. Instead of tightening our fiscal policies and cut out waste they are tightening the wedge around people's neck. Nigeria thrives on inefficiency and like passing the buck and looking for quick fixes. I guess this is one of those. In their head, they are looking at the numbers and thinking they could increase income by the stroke of a pen. They are forgetting that consumer purchase index is at an all time low(people only buy neccessities) and VAT is a tax on the end user which invariably would deter more purchases. I wouldn't be surprised if the country ended up in another recession in the next 1 to 2years. |
chocolatelady:I am bewildered as to why their premise for requesting the election to be annulled was based on the fact that there was a "Server for Election Collation" when what the Tribunal would look at doesn't even cover Electronic Voting because it doesn't even exist in the Electoral Law. No court of law even the Supreme Court has a structure to examine such evidence because it's outside the constitution. It's like playing Scrabble and requesting the wrong words you have spelt to be accepted based on some unknown Dictionary out there when in fact such words are alien to the current system you are running. I can't imagine his Lawyers were making such schoolboy errors or maybe they advised him but he wouldn't listen and shoe-horned his way with that line of thought. He would have had much more success arguing cases of Election rigging in places that were his strongholds that experienced votes manipulation(i.e destruction of materials or deliberate lack of voting materials) or even argue cases where there was widespread lack of accreditation or non Use of Card Readers to authenticate Voters. Those are more in line with what a Tribunal would want to investigate and see rather than the BS story of servers or no Servers. |
Aren't Nigerians Bleep....ing tired of giving births. Like wtf, you have two kids she's solely responsible for and you still want her to add another one to her current misery as a ticket to getting married? Like seriously? Should marriages be about popping out kids left right and centre? I really don't understand how people don't get that giving birth to children you have no financial backing to take care of is a sure way to poverty Marriage proposals or not. Like can't people think? ![]() |

temmypotter:Football has evolved in the last decade to the point that all those rugby tackles would give you multiple cards in this day and age. Football isn't about physicallity anymore but much more about skills and IQ. Yeah there are players that make tackles and whatever but a Defence is not just a single player making stupid tackles and clearing out opponents. It is much more about positioning and weighing the risks. Having to make a tackle only means that you've been caught out of position and should be a last ditch effort. Looking back on Salah’s second goal, you’d wonder what Luiz was thinking? To lunge for the ball like that on one of the fastest players who thrives on being able to run direct at goal. Why take such risk? Just shepherd him and stay goal side. His positioning was bad and making useless tackles/shirt holding led to a yellow earlier, he put himself in a situation where he was likely going to need to foul instead of just slowing Salah down and hoping his teammates got back to cover. Late in the game there was a near identical scenario with VVD and pepe—last man back against a pacy skillful attacker. VVD backed off, slowed him down, and Robertson tracked back and took the ball off pepe. You see the fine margins between what makes VVD very good. He rarely needs to make a tackle because tackling is just a last ditch effort in defending and he does make a tackle when it is extremely needed go take a look at his tackles on Son, Sissoko and a host of others last season. |
jaxxy:Not going to judge him but honestly there is no way you won't want to conclude that he is either stupid or just desperate for money. I have never been to the US but i buy a lot online and i mostly avoid buying anything from California because my freight forwarder is on the east coast, Maryland to be precise and it takes a minimum of 7 to 8 days to even get the smallest items from California down to Baltimore using Standard shipping. For someone to now think he would drive a car through such long distances let alone tow a car through such long distances reeks of either desperation or utter stupidity. No two thoughts around it. |
emkz:Don't mind the silly guy. Just take a look at their Glassdoor reviews and you would know the Guy is the top scam . He is just using this as an opportunity to close his failing business. Not their fault, if the useless small sample size of Nigerians didn't go commotting large scale scams all these riff raffs wont be talking down on 150 million Nigerians. https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Dynamics-Intelligence-Reviews-E2236740.htm You call yourself a cloud computing company and you couldn't use your intelligence to put in place checks to prevent fraud?
|
vicdom:It's very easy to nab most criminals in Nigeria. Most are not intelligent and don't know that their use of mobile phones and other tech can be easily traced. If the Police really want to find out a crime and locate someone. All they need to do is just work with the Telecos. |
Yet we are budgeting billions to buy SUVs and furniture for National Assembly leaders. Furniture, housing and Cars were monetized but we still spend billions ywarly providing for people who add not a single benefit to the Nigerian people. |
Chimookigwe:Daily Mail? ![]() More like they are competing with the Sun for the shittiest newspaper. You want reputable UK news outlets, then look at The Guardian and BBC. Daily Mail and Sun? Gossip tabliods steering up controversies just to sell. |
Mynd44:You talk as if the Sun is an authoritative newspaper. The Sun is equivalent to reading local gossip tabliods in Nigeria who peddle falsehood at every turn. No sensible and logical person reads it so I can't wrap my head why you Nigerians are so hyped about such useless tabliod. I would believe a word Igbere writes before i even take a look at The Sun. |
