After reading the Part 1 of Soludo's reply to Peter Obi, I think the best thing for Obi is to surrender and quit this presidential race.

Soludo pointed out that Obi's intention is known to him and his political associates. The intention that made him not to be able to return to APGA.

Then I asked, what is Peter Obi's intention this time around?

Was it to have more bargaining power when the time to negotiate with PDP arise?

Was it just a preparatory image laundering for future election?

Was it a deliberate ploy to collapse his follower for PDP in the nearer future?

No matter what it may be, Peter Obi is has used up all his lifeline and he is set to crash unless he quickly step down his presidential ambition
Soludo finished him yesterday. I don't expect him to forge ahead with the campaign

PoliticsRe: Soludo And His Disingenuous Tantrum by OsunOriginal: 10:34pm On Nov 14, 2022
Nwaetche:
For those that do not know an average Igboman disposition. Igbos are not tribalist and do not have herd mentality. It is simply not in our culture. Many prominent Igbos are in PDP, APC, APGA and other parties. We have plurality of opinion based on individual political conviction.

The current governor of Anambra, Charles Soludo is an opposition member with a presidential candidate. No one expects him to support Obi?
After all, Is Gov. Ganduje supporting Rabiu Kwakwanso? Is Gov. Akeredolu supporting Sowore? Would some think that Nyerisi Wike would have supported Dede Amaechi if he had won the APC primaries since they are all Ikwerres?

For those throwing shades from APC, BAT is only lucky that his governor is from his Party and his stooge otherwise the same would have being the case. So we should stop making mountain out of anthill on what is essentially a political statement to de-market an opponent.

Soludo is not necessary interested in his presidential candidate winning election but he is afraid of the down the line bandwagon effect on his party candidates for Senate and HOR as happened in 2019 due to PO factor.

If Soludo is expecting Obi to stand down for Igbo’s sake, why is he not advocating the same to his APGA candidate Prof. Umeadi. Is Umeadi not Igbo? Is his contesting the Presidential race not going to affect the Igbos as Soludo is alluding?

Is Atiku not having an Igboman as his VP? What more representation does he want the Igbo nation to have in a governement not lead by an Igboman.

As a matter of fact, president from the current crop of politicians except possibly Kwakwaso would neglect the Igbos as Buhari did. I also believe that the next president will release Nnamdi Kalu if Buhari does not do it before leaving.

Igbo’s would be fine no matter who becomes the next president so Soludo is just whipping unnecessary sentiment and trying to use emotion and history to curry favour from Igbo elites.

PO is not an Igbo project. The Igbo elite were simply played out in the major parties and a man followed his heart to another party and was lucky to step into a pan Nigeria youth driven movement and its tutelar head. So Obi emergence has nothing to do with Igbos. It was only the opponent that are trying to pigeonhole him so that ignorant electorates would see him as an ethnic champion which he keeps distancing himself.

I am more than convince that Soludo is playing politics with bitterness. He is alarmed at PO increasing acceptance and popularity. He is talking about Ekiti and Osun forgetting that every politics is local and people are voting essentially on personality. LP was in no position to win those race at that time. What was APGA performance in those areas ?

I am of the opinion that Soludo tantrums would even enlarge PO support base by drawing more followers from other tribes that original bought into BATist assertion that Obi is Igbo project.

It is instrutive to note that Soludo is a extremely proud guy. PO being silent on his initial attack have infuriated him further into a frenzy and I am sure Obi will keep on not responding to him.

Soludo should remember that he is the governor of Anambra. Ndi Anambra do not take nonsence. He is still in his first term on a party made popular by Obi after Anambrarians experienced the mob government of PDP and I am sure that he would soon be repaid in kind by Obi plentiful admirers in the State.

One should note that BATist are only overplaying this issue to divert attention from the injurious allegation of US monetary forfeiture of their candidate.

For real, Peter Obi and the obedient movement are not going away soon no matter the outcome of the upcoming election. If they do not win 2023, they would certainly win in 2027.

I do not see any miracle the old guard would do in four years to fix the economy. If BAT or Atiku wins, the state of the economy with their ancient mindset, coteries of hangers-on and politics of entitlement would further compound the already bad situation in Nigeria.

Obidients would use the period in between to solidify their base and eventual drive the old guard our of power.

Soludo should therefore give himself a break and concentrate on delivering the dividents of good governance for Ndi Anambra and allow PO and Obidients to be.

Win or Loose PO and the Obidients have come to stay and will continue defining the narratives.
Thousands of Zombidients can't belittle the great Charles Soludo

grin grin grin grin grin
Funny, in the rabid frenzy to grab every straw, they cut a clip during our governorship debate where I was stating vital statistics and they claimed that I was “praising” Peter Obi then while committing a crime now by “criticising” him. Hahahaha! Well, it is true that I said during the debate that, according to National Bureau of Statistics, poverty in Anambra actually grew (from less than 25% in 2005) to about 53% under Peter Obi in 2010/2011 but fell under Willie Obiano to 14.78% in 2020. Yes, poverty more than doubled under Peter Obi and more than 50% of Ndi Anambra were in poverty under him. Go and verify! I am Governor, and sitting on privileged information which I will not want to use against a political opponent. But on matters of facts, I will always state same as is. As the saying goes, you can fool some of the people some of the time but never all the people all the time. Enough said for now!

PoliticsA Response That Sounded The Death Knell For Obi's Ambition by OsunOriginal(op): 9:56pm On Nov 14, 2022
When I finished reading Professor Soludo's response, the unfortunate end of Obi's ambition emerged from the shadows.

.....
To conclude, let me once again wish my brother Peter Obi good luck. He should have fun and enjoy the fleeting frenzy of the moment. But he must moderate the desperation as exhibited by his social media mob. There is a limit to propaganda. A mob action often reflects the character of its leader. No one has a monopoly of social media violence, and no one should play God. Life won’t end by February/March 2023.

I hope that after February 2023, Peter Obi will return to APGA (the party that made him everything he is politically) as I offered him on 8th March, 2022 and begin the hard work, if he truly wants to be president of Nigeria. It won’t happen by desperately jumping from one party to another or by unleashing a social media mob on everyone who slightly disagrees with you. I decided to pen my views personally -- again for the records. On this, I don’t mind being a one man minority. As history beckons, my conscience and sense of duty to my people dictate that I should never be silent. I will happily accept the judgment of history for standing by the truth!

PoliticsFake Reports: APC Petitions NBC, Demands Sanction Of Arise TV, Channels by OsunOriginal(op): 5:36pm On Nov 14, 2022
The Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has petitioned the National Broadcasting Commission to sanction Arise News and Channels TV over their fake reports on the APC Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the council, Mr Bayo Onanuga in Abuja on Monday said that a petition signed by the Special Adviser, Media, Communications and Public Affairs of the PCC, Dele Alake and addressed to the Director-General, Balarabe Shehu Ilelah accused the two television station of breaching broadcast codes with their actions.

In the petition, Alake noted the purported indictment of Tinubu as reported and discussed on Arise News and Channels TV had already been cleared in correspondence between then Inspector General of Police Tafa Balogun and the US government.

The PCC said the continued broadcast of a non-existing ‘indictment’ violated the NBC code.

I think drugs are a worse problem, the government can't do anything about Panama papers because no crime was committed. Having offshore portfolios in tax havens isn't illegal and it's an activity ALL rich people indulge in including your idols. Your government might feel bad about it but no crime was committed.
Boy, you need to read a little about the code of conduct for public officers. As a public officer , you're;

- not allowed to operate an off-shore account while in office
- must declare your assets and interests (both local and abroad) before assuming office and when leaving - this is the reason for CCB asset declaration forms

Peter Obi breached the two above and therefore has questions to answer.
PoliticsPanama Papers And The Inactivity Of Our Security Agents by OsunOriginal(op):
The Panama papers revelations left many mouths across the world agape and till today many of the mouths are still widely left open. How do you explain millions of dollars owned by politicians, sitting governors, ministers, etc., even from countries where the majority live in abject poverty? A number of politicians in Nigeria were named in these shameful acts of secret investments, secret accounts, illicit funds ownership, and/or tax evasion. What is more painful is the laxity with which our various security agents have so far handled the case. The likes of Peter Obi, who is shamelessly contesting for the president of Nigeria, have not even been invited for questioning. Obi was a sitting governor when he operated secret off-shore accounts contrary to the code of conduct for public officials.

My concern is what this portends for us as a country if nothing is done about it. It is like saying there is nothing wrong with anybody operating secret accounts. This will legalize roguery in government and embolden potential criminals to do even worse. The future of the country will be further thrown into jeopardy and insecurity at home will get worse.

While my mouth is still agape, I hope the EFCC, ICPC, CCB, etc will wake up from their slumber and do the needful.

Kids everywhere. Where did we get it wrong as a people?
The funds in his accounts were linked to drugs and he was indicted, yet the funds were released to him? Does this make sense at all?
How much in total was in his accounts, how much was released to him, and how much was forfeited?
The amount forfeited was what should have been paid as tax on the funds. If it was a case of an indictment for drug-related offenses, the entire funds would have been forfeited and he would have been extradited to the US to face criminal charges.

How many drug barons arrested/indicted/convicted have had their funds released to them in the history of any country, let alone the US?

PoliticsRe: Politicians With Billions In Cash Move Against Naira Redesign by OsunOriginal: 1:56pm On Nov 13, 2022
Ofunaofu:
*Mobilise N’Assembly to pass resolution as several lawmakers may have stockpiled cash for elections and are angry

Indications have emerged that politicians who stashed billions of Naira outside the banking system to prosecute the 2023 general election have moved against the planned reintroduction and redesign of Nigeria’s currency by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), THISDAY has learnt. These politicians, it was learnt, have mobilised the National Assembly to pass a resolution against the Naira redesign as several lawmakers may have stockpiled cash for the 2023 general election.

On October 26, 2022, CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, had announced the plan to redesign the Naira to control the money supply. The redesigned notes include N200, N500 and N1,000.According to the apex bank, new N200, N500, and N1,000 notes will go into circulation from December 15, while the current notes will cease to be legal tender by January 31, 2023.

THISDAY gathered that this monetary tool aimed at fighting corruption, checkmating money laundering, eliminating counterfeits, and ending the hoarding of the Naira by kidnappers and others, has thrown politicians who stashed billions of the Nigerian currency ahead of the 2023 general election into confusion. It is estimated that about 84 per cent of the N12.73 trillion in circulation is outside the banking system, precisely in the hands of corrupt politicians, kidnappers, traders and criminal elements. These elements, who do not bank their funds, are involved in money laundering and currency round-tripping using the black market as the alternative foreign exchange window.

Investigation revealed that many of the politicians who have perfected plans of rigging next year’s election through vote-buying and had stock-pilled the Naira in their houses, offices and other hidden places, have perfected plans to ambush this apex bank’s initiative, which has received accolades from President Muhammadu Buhari and financial and economic experts.

THISDAY gathered that these politicians who feared that they might not return billions of Naira into the banking system within the three months – November 2022 to January 2023 specified by the CBN without breaching the Money Laundering Act and attracting the attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), are mobilising some members of the National Assembly to pass a resolution against the Naira redesign.

Multiple sources close to the federal lawmakers told THISDAY last night that these politicians want the National Assembly to pass a resolution directing the CBN to shift the Naira redesign till after the 2023 general election.

“These politicians are believed to have kept large amounts of cash in their houses and other hidden places and they believe that three months will be too short for them to return these funds to the banks without being indicted by the EFCC for money laundering and other related crimes,” one of the sources told THISDAY.To show that the policy has his firm backing, President Buhari had last Wednesday declared that there was no going back on the planned redesign of the bank notes and that three months was enough for Nigerians to deposit the current notes at the banks.

He had also vowed that politicians won’t be allowed to mobilise resources and thugs to intimidate voters in the 2023 general election. The president, who made this known recently in an interview in the United Kingdom after meeting with His Royal Majesty, King Charles III in Buckingham Palace, also said enough time had been given by the CBN for Nigerians to deposit the present naira notes at banks in exchange for the newly redesigned ones.“On this change of currency, there will be a lot of money but time has been given from October to December, three months is enough for whatever money you have, to get it changed through the legal system.

“So, I don’t know why people are complaining about it,” the president said.He also said the policy announced by the CBN Governor, Emefiele, has come to stay.“No going back,” Buhari said of the decision to redesign the three naira notes. “My aim is to make sure that Nigerians believe that we respect them as an administration.

“So, Nigerians should vote for whoever they like from whichever political party. Nobody will be allowed to mobilise resources and thugs to intimidate people in any constituency. That is what I want to go down in Nigerian history as a leader.”It will however require the strong backing of President Buhari for the CBN to resist any moves by federal lawmakers to truncate the deployment of this monetary tool.

https://www.thisdaylive.com
They can't do anything about it. Naira redesign has come to stay... by Dec 15, new notes will be out and nobody will accept the old notes again except at discounted value. And by Jan 31, the old notes will cease to be used as legal tenders in Nigeria.

PoliticsRe: Otti's Failed Rally In Abia: A Deserving Reward For Political Brigandage by OsunOriginal: 12:09pm On Nov 13, 2022
Naijafrontpage:
Alex Otti's Failed Political Rally in Abia: A Deserving Reward for Political Brigandage

By Michael Nwabueze

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Abia State, Mr Alex Otti has, in his short but chequered political career, built negative reputation for himself as a bitter, malicious and uncouth perennial loser. His consistent raising of false alarms about the outcomes of the elections he has contested in in the past and the bitterness with which he talks about those who roundly defeated him at every turn of election gives him away as a sore loser whose main objective for desperately seeking to be governor of Abia State is to exert vengeance on his political conquerors.

It was so bad that Learned Justices of the Appeal Court once described Alex Otti as a "meddlesome interloper, busy body" during one of his numerous desperate voyages to the judiciary to seek electoral victory through the backdoor after suffering devastating defeats at the polls proper.

Having been roundly rejected by the people at the polls as reflected in the 2019 Abia governorship election results where Otti scored a miserly 64,366 votes compared to the winner, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s 261,127 votes, a whopping 60.26% of total votes cast.

Having suffered such a humiliating defeat, Alex Otti in his usual desperation jumped from APGA to APC, and when his desperation for power could not be tolerated there, he once again jumped ship to join Labour Party confirming his description as a 'busy body' by the Justices of the Apoeal Court. It is even worse when one remembers that he had earlier jumped from PDP to APGA. What an unstable individual!

In order to get back at his political opponents, Otti has almost always deployed derogatory and uncomplimentary words, spinning falsehood and half truths against them in the process. He has also used unprintable words on some sections of the electorate for rejecting him at the polls thereby making him come across to many as a truly resentful person lacking in character and only seeking power just for the sake of it.

Such is the character of Otti that Abians see through his bitterness, malice and mischief and shows it everywhere he goes. Unfortunately, a gentleman with profoundly contrasting character like Peter Obi will be forced to be associated with an Otti who has been loudly rejected by the people on several occasions, by the virtue of both men sharing the same LP platform

Contrary to the massive followership Mr Peter Obi commands nationwide, only few people attended the November 10 Labour Party rally in Aba, Abia State despite the well publicised information that Peter Obi would be in attendance.

It was so bad that facts have emerged that the few persons who attended the rally were rented as videos making the rounds show the rented crowd fighting over sharing formula of the rent fees. This goes a long way to show that Abians are truly tired of the antics of Alex Otti and would not want anything to do with him. Sadly, Peter Obi had to share a brunt of that humiliating outing in Aba. It was so bad that while the Labour Party presidential candidate shared his outing in Benin the following day on his verified Twitter account as he has always done, he could not share any image from the rally in Abia because it was indeed a disappointing outing. Peter Obi is a man who will never want to be associated with rented crowd for any political rally he is involved in but he did not ask questions about his Party's governorship candidate in Abia before agreeing to participate in that flag off of November 10. If he had asked questions, he would have known that Alex Otti is a rejected politician in Abia State, and that without financial inducement, no Abian will, in good faith, attend any of his rallies.

It becomes disturbing therefore that a man of integrity and impeccable character with sterling records in both private and public offices who engages all, both friends and foes, with utmost respect and profound humility, like Mr Peter Obi finds himself in the same party as Mr Alex Otti who is glaringly attempting to ride on the goodwill of the former to warm himself back into the hearts of the people.

But it is not going to work because Abians have endured enough of Otti's shenanigans over the years and made that abundantly clear to him by staying away from his governorship campaign flag off with only the rented crowd saving him from total disgrace. His gang of co-travellers themselves did not make the matter better as they shortchanged the rented crowd by paying them less what was agreed as seen in the videos making the rounds.

It will be highly advisable that as the campaigns advance, Mr Peter Obi should avoid such characters as Alex Otti whose character deficiency will only rub off negatively on him just as it did in Abia State recently.
This also shows Obi is just a media creation. He doesn't command any followership that can upstage any incumbent anywhere in SE and SS let alone the NC.

Is it not funny that a man who moved $20m belonging to the state to his family business accounts is telling us what matters most is whether he accepted a plot of land from the government while he was governor? A plot of land in Anambra at the time he governed the state was way below N100k ($500 using the prevailing exchange rate at the time).

Is Obi really serious at all? Does he think we're all foolish?

You wish. Buhari who said people should vote for whoever they like or another one.
I thought Asiwaju is the national leader of APC. When did that change grin grin
There's no such thing as Buhari supporter like you Tinubu supporters think it. Notherners adopted Buhari as their consensus candidate since 2003 yet he lost 2007 elections against Yaradua in that same North. His home state was not ruled by his party till 2015. What am I saying? His senatorial zone was ruled by PDP till 2015.
Buhari is pro-north. That's why the northerners love him and trust him, not because his name is Buhari. Nothern interest is shifting away from APC.
Since Buhari is going to lead APC campaigns across the North, why has Tinubu been holding meetings with northerners in different states without Buhari. He should focus on the South then and leave the North alone for Buhari to work his magic don't you think?
What kind of question is this? Because Buhari is leading campaigns, the flagbearer doesn't need to meet with electorates?

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi says he will quit campaigning for the highest seat in the country if anyone can prove that he accepted land gift during his time as governor of Anambra State.

He made the statement on Friday, November 11 at the palace of the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, in Edo State.

The former governor visited the revered traditional ruler when he and his campaign team stormed Edo.

While receiving the presidential hopeful, Oba Ewuare II probed Obi to make clarifications regarding a viral document where he rejected land allocation from the Anambra State Government while he was a serving governor.

“Your Excellency, somebody show me a letter where land was given to you in your state and you politely returned it that you don’t need it; that you are there to serve and so on. Correct?” the monarch asked.

In response, the LP presidential flagbearer said; “Very correct”.

Obi added; “If anybody sees a piece of land allotted to me, my wife, any of my family members, directly or indirectly when I was governor, I will stop campaigning”.
How can a man this petty want to be our president? You took $20m of the state and put in your family business and you're here talking about not accepting a plot of land that is not worth more than N250k. Anybody supporting this man is not only foolish, but he is also irredeemably ignorant.
