Romance › Re: How Tolerable Is Your Past? by Outstrip(f): 3:52pm On Sep 29, 2008
Even if he indeed "spanked that ass" grin How does that prove that she used to play around. I think you should be up front about your past though. She should have used the opportunity to introduce her fiance so that the he goat will have a chance to atleast apologize

Stand your ground. Say no. It will probably be the hardest thing you do but do it. I don't know why parents want to be so stubborn about things like this. I don't care how much your parents love you, the fact of the matter is that when katakata burst in the marriage, there is nothing they can do. They can support you, they can still say we love you and all that but they cannot live the hell you are living with you.
While there is nothing wrong with marrying someone who is not educated, you have to be sure that the person will nto be intimidated by your education. It also sounds like he speaks no english. What kind of business does he do because quite frankly if that business does not take him out of Aba then I don't even know if that should even be considered a plus.
You are 24. What is the rush. You don't marry for anybody. You make that choice for yourself and you can definitely take advice from others but when that advice is in the lines of he must be from anambra then I am sorry but that is selfishness talking and not love

LOL at witchcraft. I think it is just the way some people are raised. Some men are even ok with it.
Culture › Re: Translate This Igbo Phrase Please by Outstrip(f): 3:49pm On Sep 27, 2008
Igbo people surely are. My mother cannot answer a question or make a point without a parable. I remember growing up we would make fun of her by making up our own proverbs. Some of the proverbs were also very funny but they will always leave you thinking. The one that always made me laugh is when she will say "hey my eyes have seen my ears today o". When I finally realised that it pretty much meant 'abomination' I wondered why she just would not say abomination then.

Sista woman that is the best one. My husband and I use that technique. We used to keep whatever is left over but Suze Orman talked about splitting whatever was left equally and my husband makes much more but he felt it was fair since I do my hair and nails and things like that. So I end up with more but the percentage based on what you both bring in makes more sense and it works
Events › Re: They Want No Gifts At Their Wedding! by Outstrip(f): 3:22am On Sep 27, 2008
Just a question though. Do you get up one day, dress up and go to a total strangers wedding. It is usually someone you know and so I don't understand why cash only would be something that would make you want to flex muscle. For those people saying that it is a nigerian thing. It really is not. I am glad to hear though that nigerians are embracing it.
Events › Re: They Want No Gifts At Their Wedding! by Outstrip(f): 3:16am On Sep 27, 2008
I did not do this for my wedding but I wish I did. Instead of spraying money at my wedding, deposit it in our bank account. I still have a toaster and I re gifted a blender that I got as a wedding gift. Imagine if you had 300 guests and each gave $100, that just makes more financial sense. I think more people should be open to this.

Rubi I know it's not easy to raise children in the US. I am not saying she should carry him all the time with her. I know of a lady who carries her child in a carrier all day that the carrier has left permanent embeded marks on her shoulders and this child is three. Nobody wants that situation. I am actually encouraging the poster who I am sure is a good mother to try to understand that children are parasites (my mother actually said this to me LOL). At thirteen months if oga wants to be carried, carry him. Trust me, I will not encourage any mother to let her child drive her crazy. I feel her pain but she should just indulge him for now.
Romance › Re: Do Ladies Really Deserve This? by Outstrip(f): 7:28pm On Sep 24, 2008
You don't have to do it. Is it by force. Women will open doors if a man says he will not do. Why e dey pain you? You really don't have any problems that's why this troubles you so much

Romance › Re: Do You Believe In A Lifelong Happy Marriage Between A Nigerian And An American? by Outstrip(f): 6:28pm On Sep 24, 2008
It is definitely posible. My uncle has been married over 16 years to an african american. I could not have asked for a better wife at school. I also have freinds I grew up with in Nigeria that have one american parent. All of them are still together. In some ways it simplifies things and in some ways it complicates things but that is life

If your child wants to be held then hold him. He is a baby for Christ's sake. In NIgeria, you see women carry their babies on their back all day long. While they cook, pound yam, clean the house and those children are well adjusted. Research has shown that if you ignore them they will end up being more emotionally needy. This is just normal. Hold that child. If he was sixteen years old I would say slap his head but this is a baby we are talking about.
Family › Re: Very Important, How To Have A Good Home! by Outstrip(f): 2:34am On Sep 24, 2008
You can start by not contradicting yourself. Love your wife as Christ loves the church. God does not wait for us to be obedient first before he loves us. So you obviously do not understand the scripture you are quoting. The man is even more responsible for the failure or success of the marriage of he is indeed the head.

Marissa I will try yoru method because I think that is how my aunty does her and I love it. Only she refuses to share her recipe. My husband loves my fried rice but I like my aunty's better than mine. It comes out sort of dry at the end. I hope that is how this one turns out.

Just be careful. This kind of sister can kill. It happened with my husband's older brother's sister in law (LOL) For real. Her sister poisoned her by feeding her snake poison (so they say). Just cover yourself, your children and husband with the blood of Jesus and pray that God remove the bitterness and wickedness from your sisters heart. I will not encourage yout o leave your kids around her. She is too bitter at your joy. A sister should see your joy as her own and enjoy it with you. I can't say cut her off. She is your sister but be watchful
