Would you blame them. I understand the fun of doing the traditions but at this stage it should really be about the fun not the actual money. It is just silly. Some people here seem to be missing my point which is not centred on the price but design. I have never been concerned about how expensive or whether it is diamond. As a matter of fact, the sample I sent to him was a white gold set with CZ stones.

Trust me they purposely ignored that part. You simply just cannot say let him buy the ring. There are some things that there has to be agreement on. There is also the thought that you pick yoru battles but is this the one she wants to just let slide. If that is okay with her then fine. I did not see my ring before it was picked and paid for but he got exactly what I wanted and also had the option of changing out the stone if I did not want that one. You simply cannot force someone to make such a decision that she will want to look at for the rest of her life and smile at the beautiful memories it brings. If every time she looks at it she thinks how stubborn he is then you know say trouble dey.

It depends. Since you have said that you have a preference then he needs to take that into consideration. It would be selfish for him to just buy what he likes. he is not going to wear it. As long as you are not expecting him to over extend himself. You can tell him what cut or setting you want. The size and clarity(if it has diamonds) can be a compromise.

Can people stop telling him that he can talk her out of it. HE CANNOT. Once you are an alcoholic you are one for life. reminds me of a friend of mine, his gf wanted to move in with him but she REFUSED to pay her share of the rent because the house was his (although there was a mortgage to be repaid). she ended up renting her own place elsewhere, which sounds crazy to him and me that she preferred to give her money to some stranger rather than helping her supposed bf to pay his mortgage. some women and their way of thinking sha!!!

Okay this one is a little different. I personally don't feel that she should pay rent when she is living with him. if they were married I would say put it in both their names. Most importantly I seriously doubt that it was her sole idea to move in with your friend. There is selfishness on both parts not just the girlfriend. For this Nigerian couple though there is a whole lot more. We have heard of men dying and living nothing behind. It could have been security for the woman. Maybe she felt God forbids something happens to the man then family would not even look at the property as theirs. In a normal world I would say this is serious grounds for rethinking how the relationship works but in Nigeria things are not always black and white. There are obviously serious trust and respect issues in this marriage

No not really. She interacts with them at school and then comes home and is around family. I imagine that she is a day school. Children will usually experiment with what is available to them

then it is not suprising. She is socializing with kids older than her. The reason kids are put in with their age range is not just for academic reasons. When I was in JS 3 I had started my period. We had been taught reproduction in school and we talked about sperm and things like that amongst ourselves. We thought sex was yucky but I had a vague idea of what happens. This child obviously is naturally curious. She just needs to be sternly admonished. That kind of behavior is not acceptable but it should not leave the four walls of the house

- why are you surprised that a 11yr old gal KNOWS about se.x? it's everywhere and they can surely get a good peep online.

The part you bolded actually stuck out to me also. I think the adults have already put words in her mouth. It is normal to be curious at her age but obviously she went way too far. She should be counselled and not treated like a freak show

The picture of her is not a fair picture. She gets dolled up just like all the other models when they work. She was not there. The idea was to play up her features. She looks african just like a million and one other Africans. To you it is not beautiful though to someone else it is.
