I think think all the more of a President who doesn'tsay amen to such superstitious clap-trap.
Cursing, indeed.
Cursing never did anything, ever.

Legal process, please.

the funclub enterprise: If mr human rights activist is so concerned abt human brutality, he wil not sleep in 9ja!...he should go out and see d children hawking daily! Being beaten and raped!, d police and poor masses and lots more!!

I'm not saying slapping is right!,
But cmon! U and I know he didn't mean it as an assault!..u re just trying to be impossible

In spiritual sense there are a lot of things not normal to the ears.........sm1 once questioned a big pastors mode of healing and I asked him have u read d bible where jesus mixed spit and sand to heal sm1 of blindness??
Religion is full of things above the normal!....dats y its called supernatural so yes I bliv a slapp can be used to torment a demon from a girl!....in my village dose traditional worshippers beat witches wit broom stick....so what are we not saying??
I know most of u commenting against him are not Christians.

I and my family were 'cursed' here at Nairaland for my having mocked this foolish Oyedepo's claim to bring the lord's wrath upon BH.
Said 'curse' was going to work upon us within a week.
That was in January, as I recall.

Anyway.
I've watched the video.
I think most of us have.
A paunchy man staggers across a stage with slurred speech and slaps a young woman.
And later boasts about it.

After seeing such a disgusting display I wonder how many men justified hitting women by crying 'witch'?
Other countries grew out of this cruel nonsense a long time ago.
Shame on Oyedepo for propagating superstition.
Politics / Re: Why Is South Africa More Developed And Stable Than Nigeria?? by PA1982(f): 7:47am On May 28, 2012
Tony Spike: Good comments so far and thanks to you all. May I add that the foundation and success of any advanced country is Research and Development (R & D). South Africa pumps an unbelievably whooping amount of funds into R & D that would make Nigeria weep like a baby.

I was a researcher in South Africa for some time and I can tell you that SA is doing everything to leap into the future. There in SA, their Universities are researching almost at the same awareness level as most American and Europeans Universities. No wonder they rank among the top 500 universities in the world. As a Nigerian researcher there, you have almost all the tools you need for your research. SA is a country doing all they can to rub shoulders with other World powers. Recently, I was at an IEEE conference where statistics of research output in 2010 for top African countries were listed as thus:

Egypt: 3004
South Africa: 1485
Tunisia: 766
Sudan: 40
Nigeria: 32

When I saw this statistics, I was ashamed and filled with rage. As far as I'm concerned, Nigeria is a dead-end in Africa. I can boldly say that Nigeria is walking-dead, Big-for-nothing entity for now. Any country that fails to drive R & D is a dead country that can never grow. I hope our greedy leaders get to see the damage they are wrecking on the country. Lest I forget, the city of Johannesburg in SA consumes over 2500 MW of electricity alone. This is more half of the output of Nigeria (at 4000 MW) alone. Nigeria should wake up and smell the coffee, we are at least 20 yrs behind SA.

Sounds about right to me.

Nairaland / General / Re: Nigeria To Be Hit By "Hazardous"asteroids - NASA by PA1982(f): 7:39am On May 18, 2012
What part of 'within 5 million miles' didn't you understand?
The PHAs - potentially hazardous asteroids - have the closest orbits to Earth's, coming within five million miles and they are big enough to survive passing through Earth's atmosphere and cause damage on a regional, or greater, scale.

Religion / Re: Church Leaders In Zimbabwe Blacklist T.B Joshua, Calling Him A Fake Prophet by PA1982(f): 11:12am On May 13, 2012
It's obvious why people think the man is a fraud- those grotesquely fraudulent videos posted by his followers on youtube are quite enough to discredit him.
Must I re-post the links again?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpajHwwuzig

Yet another reason is that the man's followers claim his wonder-working was recognised by Time magazine.
A complete falsehood, as I discovered when I read the actual article.

I don't get a clear idea of exactly what your situation is.
Do you want to urinate frequently or do you urinate without control?
How much urine do you expell at a time?
What bladder strengthening exercises have you been given?

Health / Good News From Ghana! by PA1982(f): 6:25am On Apr 27, 2012
I just read this at the BBC website:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-17865404

"Ghana pioneers new child vaccines
A mother sits next to her daughter who is in hospital with malaria and diarrhoea, 25 April 2012 Around one in five of Ghana's under-fives die from diarrhoea and pneumonia each year

Ghana has become the first country in Africa to start protecting children against two of the continent's deadliest infant diseases with simultaneous vaccinations.

Rotavirus, which causes diarrhoea, and pneumococcal disease kill more than 2.7 million children worldwide each year.

The project is backed by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation.

At the launch health minister Alban Bagbin said the programme marked a "major fight-back".

"Our children have been dying from these vaccine-preventable diseases for too long," he said.

When combined with existing programmes against polio, measles and tuberculosis, Mr Bagbin said Ghana is on track to meet its target to cut childhood mortality by two-thirds by 2015.
'Tackling largest killers'

The chief executive of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (Gavi), Dr Seth Berkley, told the BBC the combined treatment has become possible thanks to adequate health facilities in Ghana, combined with sufficient stocks of vaccine, and robust international funding.

"[The programme] gets these vaccines together out to people who need them, and you can do one large social mobilisation to try to get the population to understand that we're tackling these two largest killers," Dr Berkley said.

Last year Gavi the secured supplies of the vaccines from major pharmaceutical companies at a large discount.

The organisation brings together the World Health Organisation, the UN's children's charity Unicef, the World Bank, vaccine companies and the charity set up by the Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

The start of the Ghana programme comes during what the WHO has described as World Immunisation Week.

bizz: i am not defending a scam. ...i just want u to ask ur self in ur quiet time 'what are really my reasons for not believing and can i prove them'

No?
Then why don't you join me in denouncing this crude scam?
You've seen the video, or at the very least the two stills from it.
As a medical student, you know very well just how truly crass the deception is there.
What more proof does anyone need, bizz?
Why continue to defender a video which was designed to deceive??
Religion / Re: T.B Joshua Again: I See Death Of An Argentinian Leader by PA1982(f): 4:17pm On Apr 24, 2012
Canisma: The critics of T.B Joshua are confused.
Are they accusing him of performing fake miracles and healings
OR
Are they saying that his power of healing and prophecies are not from God almighty ?
.
They re just pathetic. They all formed their opinions through the information which they assimilated from other people. They even fear to watch his T.V, Emmanuel t.v. They just hate the man. Their pastors would open their mouths to tell them not to go to this prophet. How can you accept the judgement of a man of God against another man of God.
I ve never watched T.B Joshua criticize any man of God.
He even urges people that comes to his church to receives healing from their sicknesses to go back and continue worshiping in their various churches after receiving their healings.
HOW MANY MEN OF GOD WOULD TELL YOU THAT.
.
Like i said earlier, ANY MAN OF GOD THAT CRITICISES PROPHET T.B JOSHUA SHOULD BE AVOIDED.
He lacks a true connection with God Almighty.

No confusion here.
Not only does the man have no prophetic powers, but his church (SCOAN)publishes crudely faked 'healings'.
I hope that's clear enough

bizz: hello i do not know what u think u believe but i must tell u its baseless.i am a medical student and so i think i know to a large extent what is treatable n what is not.you do not have any proof at all.your argument is baseless.gush what r u thinking n doing.pls i do not intend to convert u(only the Holyspirit can) i just want you to stop insulting a man of God.u r no one to judge.u have ur faith,u also have ur good n bad.if someone judged u today because of what he read on the internet about u how would u feel.i want you to google this disease (liver plcc) and tell me if it is curable.then i can show u someone that was given a month to live on earth but still alive, working n happy over a year now.i want you to think about what u r doing

Why is a medical student defending a senseless scam?
When did I say your preacher put up the video?
I said his followers did.

Show me someone who has survived a bad diagnosis?
As a 'medical student' you must know faulty diagnoses happen.

But again, why defend that clumsy fraud of a video?

I can bet you've never watched any of his programmes but consider yourself smart cos you formed an opinion by reading peoples views on NL and watching you tube videos! Such a pity.
I owe u no apology and its ludicrous that you're asking for one from someone that's only trying to get u to use that thing balanced on your neck called a "head".

Intersting.
You didn't watch the video, yet you're criticsing me?
Why are you afraid to watch what SCOAN is putting up on the youtube?

And stop with the insults, wesley. They show you to mean-spirited and ignorant.

Continue to be a skeptic at your own peril because reasoning is always limited. Miracle is meant to defy logic and common sense, that's why it is called a miracle.

your eyes did not see this “However, another call came in by 2 a.m. that is Sunday morning that she had been confirmed dead by a doctor’s report. "

Coma in such conditions, and still survive?

One thing about skeptics is they will only want to believe when it happens to them, but only few skeptics will experience it while the majority of them will have one way ticket to hell.

Hmmm.
Do you believe everything you read in the newspapers as the unvarnished truth?
Have you never known a case of inaccurate reporting?

Why is calling a scam a scam a one-way ticket to hell?
Haven't you ever heard of the fraudulent healings and 'resurrections' performed all over the world by unscrupulous faith healers?
And calling upon the name of Jesus, many of them?
Would you like me to post up some of the more terrible recent examples of this?

Did you know it was once considered a one-way ticket to hell to believe the Earth revolves around the Sun?
Why are you afraid of independant thinking?
