PROUD TO BE AN EDO MAN!! SEE AS EVERYBODY DEY CLAIM CLOSENESS!! Truth be told, even though we have more cultural similarities to the Yorubas, we have better relationships with the Igbos!! I'm speaking from an Edo man's perspective!! Edo would do better and would definitely prefer to be in a country with the Igbos and its other South South Counterparts than be a minority in Yoruba Land!! The only reason A ACN has Edo state is because Oshiomole who was a member of Labour party needed a strong platform to stand against the PDP. |
That place called Lagos!! Sometimes you wonder if humans live there!! ![]() But seriously, see how people are standing without an attempt to even safe the man! He might not have died instantly! They should have at least covered the body if it was gone! The value of life. . . . . . |
egift:MEND provided money for itself as it controlled oil wells and sold them illegally. They also received duties from ships passing through their territories. They did this in collaboration with the Navy dudes. I knew some junior navy officers that were making up to 1 million Naira weekly working side by side MEND. OPC and MASSOB don't have money! Boko Haram- Three possibilities. *If Boko Haram is Local Politics then it is sponsored by Northern Politicians especially old military Generals. *If Boko haram is Religious then it is sponsored by the same folks sponsoring Al Qeada- Arab Sheiks. *If Boko Haram is International politics, then it is sponsored by Iran, same way they sponsor Hezbolla. Remember the Iranian truck load of weapons intercepted at the ports?? Their goal- Cause a war in the Nigeria to Distract America's military focus!! Nigeria supplies 25% of all American Oil imports. |
'Idhina siratal musta qin', May Allah guide us onto the right path they could be right but the innocent souls are definitely not worth it. and for Ebele, just sort this stuff out with people and lets call it a game. I dont really know where to go if anything happpens. what to do i know not of either, my mum is an hausa woman,my dad is from benin, AND me? i speak all 3 languages fluently,so i probably the most disturbed on this issue. What side should i be on when my nation starts to disintegrate, MAY ALLAH COME TO OUR AID, AMIN
The bolded is the exact reason why muslims find it difficult to speak against Boko Haram or Al Qeada or any form of extremist Islam. Because according to the books, Boko Haram is right!! Howe could any right thinking person read the translation and feel like they could be right I pity for muslims because terrorism would destroy the religion if they don't speak against extremism! |
Some comments here are senseless!! Boko Haram clearly means Western Education is Sin. So please tell me what kind of education the Government wants to give to a people who have been brainwashed to believe that Western Education is sin. The Government Provides about equal allocation for education across the country. So why do some areas have 80%+ literacy rates while others have less than 15%. Education is not the solution. And if at all it is, it would take another 20 years for it to begin to have impact! Asides who said these kids aren't educated? They are well educated in Islamic studies and that seems like the education the Northern leaders prefer to bestow on their population!! |
To the bolded I say If I didn't know that you have a weird and wild imagination, I would have concluded that you attended some BH executive meetings. BH is a terrorist group which was not dealt with promptly by GEJ and which can be defeated in less than a month if our C in C can muster the courage to do so. BTW, I accept your show of submission which you displayed by truncating my NL userid. Keep it up, I accept the honour.
Indeeed! Defeated in under a month indeed! America, the world's greatest power is only now beginning to defeat Alqaeda after 10 years and 3 Trillion Dolllars! Any you say 1 Month!! Thats delusional! The nature of terrorism is such that you can only fence it out of your territory, you can hardly defeat it! The thing I still find hard to understand is this: Muslims are the ones killed by terrorist bombs all over the world, and yet they find it so hard to criticize the terrrorists. Instead they point to conspiracy theories indicting the CIA and Mossad!! The truth of the matter is that the moment Muslims begin to fight against the extremists in their midst, the end of terrorism will be near! |
Without Question: Obasanjo!! I wish he got a third term!! Gowon also seemed like he did a lot of work! GEJ is still too early to assess! |
Kobojunkie:Can you please put some light on what you think their goal is. It isn't clear to me and a whole lot others. |
Ndata:With the temperature in the country right now, the North will never hold on to power in one Nigeria. It is either the country splits or power is decided at the ballot boxes which the North would never win ever again! Sad thing is that it is northerners that are suffering the menace of Boko Haram!! |
The reasons for the bombs are pretty obvious. Jonathan defied zoning. So yes, you are right, if he steps down today, even though for an 18 year old Northern Illiterate, the bombs will stop. Its not about competence, it's about ethnicity. While I agree that GEJ hasn't shown capable leadership with regards to security, it is almost impossible to stop this kind of terrorism when the locals give the terrorists the needed support. Case in point: Zakari Biu of Biu LGA( Boko Haram HQ) releases christmas day bomber. We will wait out till 2015 and I can bet that no southerner would casxt a vote for a Northern hegemonist, hence no northerner will be president!!! |
We got just only sorry for your family. And we go know say na person give you winch chop. So we go just continue with our daily lives and we would never remember your name. |
I don't know where you got that idea. Without question, Ibos and Bendelites have always been known to be the smartest Nigerians in the country!! They are by far the most successful. They control the Nigerian economy. They produce the best technocrats. The Lagos economy is run by the Igbos. Pull them out and Lagos would look like Cotonou. |
Its pathetic that people are playing politics with the future of this country. One thing I love about the attempt at deregulation is the way it has begun to expose the true enemies of Nigeria's progress. Some sections of the country have been blocking the passage of the bill. One section(the "Born-to-Rule" fellas) was blocking it in the open for obvious reasons. Another section(the Rascals) has been pretending like they are in support, but behind closed doors they've been working against the bill. Its amazing!! That same section keeps harping on true federalism. They keep harping on devolution of powers from centre to bottom. They harp in the open to the hearing of their population but behind closed doors they work against these things. The only reason they probably screamed true federalism was because of what Abacha and IBB did to steal Abiola's mandate. Whether they like it or not, The PIB bill will be passed, by fire or by force!! |
bloodless:Because they are false and exist only in the minds of the writers! |
Once Again, I'm not giving excuses for the wasteful practices of our politicians. I think we need to start looking at every segment of government. From the civil service to the LG office to the state Government to the FG. WE'VE GOT THE FOI BILL. THIS IS THE TIME TO USE IT. Total Cost of the Whole White House for Fiscal Year 2008
[li]Compensation of the president (including an expense allowance of $50,000): $ 450,000 The Executive Residence operating expenses: $12,814,000 The Executive Residence—repair and restoration: $1,600,000 The vice president’s downtown office: $15,511,9603 Residence of the vice president—operating expenses: $320,000 The White House Office (including the Homeland Security Council): $53,656,000 Office of Policy Development (the Domestic Policy Council and the National Economic Council): $3,482,000 National Security Council: $30,300,820 One-eighth of the Office of Administration, for direct services to the president pursuant to Section 3(a) of Executive Order 12028: $11,468,125 The president’s unanticipated needs: $1,000,000 White House Center Service Delivery Team (in the GSA budget): $26,000,000 U.S. Postal Service, White House branch: $726,000 National Archives professional archival support of the White House: $1,000,000 Value of gifts supplied by the Department of State for presentation to foreign leaders at White House official entertainment functions: $50,000 White House Communications Agency (in the budget of the Defense Information Systems Agency): $173,900,000 Air Force One (in U.S. Air Force budget) (classified) (Estimated cost: $200,000,000) Helicopter squadron HMX-One (in the Marine Corps budget; this is the fiscal year 2008 appropriation segment of a fifteen year-long procurement of twenty-eight new helicopters): $271,000,000 Camp David (in the Navy/Seabees budget): $7,900,0005 Salary costs for 2,300 employees in above units 15, 16, 17, and 18 (all in the budget of the Department of Defense): $151,800,000 U.S. Secret Service (in the budget of the Department of Homeland Security) (21-26) Protection of persons and facilities: $689,535,000 For protective intelligence activities: $57,704,000 For handling “special security events,” such as the 2009 Inaugural: $1,000,000 For screening of White House mail: $16,201,000 Operations of the James J. But keep in mind, this is for the Executive Office of the United States of America, which is more than just a building. |
doctokwus:Its folks like you that made me respond the way I did. You guys need an education. The Presidency is different from the President's house. Many folks have this very absurd picture that the Presidency is Aso Rock which is a big mansion where Jonathan lives with Patience. Very Funny. The Presidency has a lot of agencies under it. And incase you don't know what the agencies I listed stand for, Let me educate you a little: BUREAU OF PUBLIC PROCUREMENT ECONOMIC & FINANCIAL CRIMES COMMISSION NATIONAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY BUREAU OF PUBLIC ENTERPRISES NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR POLICY & STRATEGIC STUDIES - NIPSS NATIONAL BOUNDARY COMMISSION BORDER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY NIGERIA INVESTMENT PROMOTION COUNCIL NIGERIA EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRIES TRANSPARENCY INITIATIVE (NEITI) NATIONAL ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION These are all massive agencies under the Presidency. Once again, I am not holding sway for the wasteful expenditure going on in all spheres of our Government institutions. However, it is important that we come to the table with credible facts, if not all your complaints would be discredited. Educate yourself a little bro. Some fellow said to me yesterday that the Government is going to spend 450 Billion Naira on newspapers and I was amazed at how so much illiteracy pervades the space. People just believe whatever thgey hear without themselves asking questions. NB: FYI, Each NNPC Refinery spent much more than the Presidency feeding their staff lunch only despite the fact that they are producing at minimal capacity. The FG has given you the FOI bill, use it!! |
Mr I-support-Private-enterprise not PDP, How far with that Benin-Ore road thing? Anyway, tell your Private enterprise people that our minimum wage will now buy less of their products o, Fuel costs don chop money. Except your enterprise is oil marketing, we'll have to buy less from you now.
Ah Kilode! Your intelligence has been missing in the whole subsidy debate!! Where art thou been?As per the minimum wage vs Fuel Subsidy thingy, hardship breeds innovation . People would get creative, both entrepreneurs and the masses. The economy would be better off for it, its only a matter of time. The Benin Ore road thingy, I drove that road on the 2nd of January again!! Had a flight to catch at 23.30Hrs. Check in closes. 21.30Hrs. Left Warri at 16.00hrs. Was at MMIA at 20.30Hrs( 30 mins Break in Ore to refuel and stretch my legs). Never had it so good. 4Hrs from Warri 2 Lagos. Smooth journey. 2 years ago, I would have started the journey at 8am in the morning and still wouldn't be sure of getting there on time. |
kokoA:Can you help me suggest one way in which the executive could speed up the passage of the bill which is in purvey of the legislative arm?? I want practical suggestion not the regular empty complaints!! |
We can be very illiterate in our reasoning. Inasmuch as I think that Government is very wasteful in its expenses and I do not in anyway justify such huge expenditures, I would really like to ask a question: Do you really think the Presidency is the President's house?? Please ehn, the Presidency comprises of over 10,000 staff which include 6000 on EFCC ALONE. BPP, BPE, Due Process Office, NEMA, NIPSS and a host of others all belong in the Presidency's budget. I am in no way holding sway for the stupid amounts they lavish, but we must come to the table with credible facts! |
oyb:Do you really believe that RENO can pay me Reno is doing his thing!Me, my interest in in a prosperous Nigeria where private enterprise can thrive!! If you notice, I tend to support anything that welcomes competition- Deregulation, Privatization, Fashola's Lekki Toll, PPPs, and all that kind of stuff!! And that is where I would keep supporting Oga Jona. That is the exact reason I voted him. There's more to come with regards to privatization, so more protests are expected from the regular socialists, so I will remain here supporting Oga Jona! |
blacksta:From the comfort of your home in the UK, U RE encouraging folks to go fight your fight for you yeah?? Why not take the next flight and come attend the rally! That way we would know that you are tired of being a slave to corruption. |
I think it would make more sense if we could focus more on our states and local Governments. The structure of Nigeria demands that every state and every section of the country gets a space in Abuja. Thats what they call Federal Character. Thats exactly why there are 37 Ministers in Nigeria. Thats why instead of fighting Fuels subsidy removal, we ought to march to the Legislative arm and demand our own constitution that would discard the one foisted upon us by some soldiers. Another reason why you might want to focus more on your locality- Yuguda Appoints 924 AidesAdamawa state Gov. has 1000 special assistants Dr Mayo Jinga Lucious is the Senior Special Assistant on Social Integration and Value Orientation to Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State. In this interview ahead of the forthcoming rescheduled gubernatorial election, Dr. Lucious speaks on the performance of the Governor Nyako, the Governor’s relationship with major stakeholders in the state and on how the Governor’s engagement of 1,000 Special Assistants has been able to impact positively on the economy of the state. Hypocrisy!!! |
dayokanu:Merriam Webster Dictionary: Definition of Treason. : the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's familyThe article says those calling for "Regime Change". There is a difference between calling for "regime change" and calling for "impeachment". "Impeachment" is usually against one person. "Regime change" demands that the whole Presidency is removed.-Now anybody that demands that overtly or covertly is commiting a treasonable offence. And by the way, if the president is impeached, his vice takes over. So U are still saddled with the PDP you loathe so much till 2015 except you commit treason or you plot a freaking coup, any of which is punishable by the death penalty. So try your luck. |
Nashville:These are the things we ought to be fighting against. Its stupid to fight against a good policy(Deregulation). It makes more sense to fight for accountability and against corruption whilst demanding specific outcomes. The Lekki protests failed because people were fighting against a beautiful concept. It was just an emotional battle. |
klas:Military?? Who is in the Commander in Chief?? Jonathan would determine whether or not the militants would be dislodged. The militants have not been disarmed, they were only temporarily unarmed. They still know where to buy their arms. Amnesty Programme?? That is for the small boys. The big boys would restock with just a phone call. |
I think people are tired of Bakare already!! His vituperations speak of one who possesses bitterness derived form forlorn expectations of victory in an election he didn't work hard enough to win. He Couldn't even win the polling booth where he voted!! And yet he opened his mouth to claim say the elections were rigged because he lost. Was his polling booth also rigged?? |
Even the protesters sef, don tire for the man!! He should go and bury his head in shame. |
Fashola Warns PENGASSAN over Strike By Chinedu Eze Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, has called on members of Petroleum, Energy and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) to drop their plans to go on strike as it would jolt the fruitful meeting between the federal government and the labour. PENGASSAN had announced that it would shut down oil wells from Sunday as part of the protest against fuel subsidy removal. Fashola noted that issuing more threats would not help the negotiation, which was already at advanced stage. "I think in a situation where we are trying to make progress, it doesn’t help the negotiations to issue more threats. I think ultimately my own interest and I believe the interest of those of us who are involved and all Nigerians; the ordinary people who bear the brunt of this crisis matter." The Lagos State Governor said people are suffering so much because of the crisis, "so the problem should be amicably resolved as urgently as possible." He added: "One way or the other, people are suffering and we remain responsible and duty-bound to ensure that the suffering and inconveniences as they are, end as quickly as possible." He said the meeting between government and labour on Thursday was fruitful and progressive. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/fashola-warns-pengassan-over-strike/107102/

I like him well well. He is extremely intelligent!! Most folks that dislike him are no match brain to brain! |
Gentleboby:Not just Governors. LG chairmen, DG's of parastatals, civil servants(they are the conduit pipe through which corruption flows.) Lets reject every form of corruption from our Teachers in primary & secondary schools and universities, Doctors and Nurses in Public hospitals, Police Officers, Judiciary. Information is the tool that is neccesary. If we know our rights, we would end corruption. EG. Everybody pays 18,000 for International passport. But we all know the official price is 8000 Naira. So why is everybody paying the unofficial price The 10k difference goes into the pockets of civil servants many of whom have hypocritically joined in the strike . We should stand up as a collective and demand that the right thing be done. Focusing on Abuja alone would only end corruption in Abuja. |

These people will be inaugurated, paid fat sitting allowances, drive in big jeeps (Purchased by Government), Live in government houses, eat government food, etc , at the end of the day they will come up with some hopeless "recommendations" which will be presented to the minister and then dumped in the dust-bin. I sorry for Nigeria
