These common people have started doing what the Federal Government have refused to do: BUILDING MORE REFINERIES! Unfortunately, they have also started doing some of the things our government/Oil Companies are doing: STEALING FROM OUR COMMONWEALTH AND POLLUTING THE ENVIRONMENT. Let's wait and see who will outdo each other. ![]() |
It has become our way of life here but how do people we borrowed the culture from do things? |
I have always watched with keen interest how couples on their wedding day resort to borrowing expensive cars. It may make for long term impression of the event in the mind of observers but I always see it as one flaunting what he does not have. Some couples don't even own a jalopy or a bicycle of any type but on their wedding day, you will see them in their "Just Married" Hummer Jeep cruising around town. Some don't just borrow the cars, they go to Berger Car Market to hire choice cars. And after the ceremony, they go bankrupt and revert to their "leggedes benz". Comparatively,Westerners no send anyone! A western couple will not even hold any party or invite more than 5 persons. They may take off on a bike to get married. We are poorer here but our ostentatious living is legendary. Do you think that new couples should start off faking their actual worth or is it better to continue impressing whoever there is? |
You can choose whichever term that suits you even though countries are usually referred in feminine terms. Russia for a fact goes for "Mother". Many Countries too. |
Baba Iyabo go talk up today; tomorrow e go begin talk another thing. E go drink garri today, tomorrow e go chop cassava bread. Next time e dey dance yahooooze. Which one Baba dey sef? |
Good for confidence building, though not an elite club team |
mutaalim: Haba sneezing is a mercy from Allah (SWT)I can't see how releazing influenza, flu, possibly SARS and other dangerous viruses into the air can be mercy or blessing of any god. If you find yourself nearby, just cover your nose and mouth with a clean handkerchief; and the sneezer should learn to use hanky too. Elementary health science. |
Rastamann: All na poverty! My dear, this has nothing to do with poverty. In our natural setting, we are all rich and happy as we could be. You are the one that is showing signs of psychological poverty. Try and change your Afrikaman mentality |
My very good friend divorced his wife because of this. He found love letters, valentine card and short notes in the wife's wardrobe but kept his cool, looking for more evidence. While they were making love one night, she continued to hala the other guy's name and my friend's manhood shrunk. The last straw! When questioned who the guy was, she denied there was such a guy. When he brought out the love letters, she started begging. Both families were invited and the marriage of 4 years crashed. If your wife start mentioning another guys name open your eyes and look for other tale-tale(?) signs. E no dey normal. |
I disagree with Aribisala0 when he posited that the Niger bridge connects only two states. Infact the whole states in the South East, South South states like Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa all need that bridge to cross westwards and vice versa. Another bridge will do to Onitsha traffic what Benin Byepass has done to Benin traffic. |
GARRI (x7):And even a secret police and an army! I fear today's churches o. |
And he himself drew away from them.... and bent his knees and began to pray, saying "Father, if you wish, remove this cup from me ... (Lu 22:39-44; Mt 26:39,42; Jn 11:41,42; Jn 17:6-26). I think we should be praying to the one Jesus prays to, not Jesus. |
The man may not be bad. He may even be a good presidential material in terms of his party's manifesto. But by turning himself into a tatoo freak he has showed that he lacks good judgment, lacks morals, not sound in mind, a man who does not know how to preside over his own body, much less his whole country. I will call him beligerant, self-centered, inconsiderate and unreasonable because even when I have the authority to treat my body anyhow I want, I have to remember that I have loved ones that will take exception, then I will reconsider. From a Bliblical point of view, tattooing is a serious sin against God (Lev 19:28; Col 2:23; 1Cor 6:15; 1Cor 3:16-19). |
AWKA_MADE_GUN: Mehn the gov is a disaster. Like geeez said he is busy fighting in public with PA's to other governors. A mere talkative, we can't wait for ohakim to return in 2014.God forbid bad thing for Ikiri anya mpi to govern Imo again. |
Many are so impressed by Jesus' accomplishments and authority as a MIGHTY GOD that they have been tempted to worship him as the ALMIGHTY (remember that humans are gods too - Ps 82:6/Jn 10:34). But a closer look at the scriptures shows that Jesus himself has a God he worships and prays to, whom he also encourages us to worship, not him (Jn 20:17; Eph 1:17; Mk 10:17,18; Heb 9:24; Jn 8:54; Jn 14:28; Jn 16:23,24). Even some persons who tried to worship him or the angels or even his disciples were seriously reprimanded (Act 10:25,26; Rev 19:10; 22:8,9). So why do some people worship Jesus when he is merely a mediator between man and God? Why not worship Jesus' God? |
I think she is aging as per time, only her mind and to an extent her body isn't growing. People with cases of this nature don't even reach 40years |

GreenJ: Are they pushing it to start, and have u ever seen 1 b4?Maybe out of the hanger but people crack a lot of jokes regarding these things lately. But na Naija we dey so o. Anything can happen or are you a learner? At least, seeing is believing. |
Any time I cross the River Niger Bridge at Asaba/Onitsha, I often wonder what will happen when and if the bridge collapses due to age or due to some natural disaster. When I think this possibility through in the light of traffic situation at that bridge on a daily basis, I kind of get horrified. I am also aware that some federal officials have been making periodic statements and budgets regarding the construction of a second bridge that will relieve this bridge and reduce the traffic logjam there. I recall vividly that former President Olusegun Obasanjo even "commissioned" the kick off of construction work on the second bridge but up till now, nothing has happened. My question is, has this all important bridges' construction become a political issue? Are we to wait until the old and decaying bridge collapses before construction work can start on a new one? Are we to wait until Nigerians die before we do something? Should we always be playing politics with important projects in Nigeria.

I came across this picture of a Nigerian? airline aircraft being pushed manually. I have not ceased to wonder if an aircraft can be pushed-started like a Danfo bus at Ojuegba. At first I could not come to grips with such a possibility but seeing how frequent planes crash in Nigeria has made me to start to have a rethink. Can an aircraft be push-started? Can you fly a plane if you knew they've been pushing it? Take a look.

I once rented this accommodation I felt was so spacious and to my taste in the Coconut area of Lagos.I packed in around September after the landlord finished renovation. I was enjoying my new life of independence as a bachelor then, until one morning when heavy rain fell. The date, June 1, cannot be deleted from my memory due to the suffering I went through. Most of my priced possession - photographs, electronics, furniture and furnishings - were destroyed. With the benefit of hindsight, I now wonder if it is not better to get a new accommodation around June/July/August when the rains are heaviest so that one can assess each property well. What's your take?

The way Naija people view education and knowledge baffles me. An average Nigerian will assess the value of your education by the number of cars you ride, the number of mansions you build and the number of strings you pull. That is why an Ijebu man or an Ibo man will not allow his son to waste his time going to school. At age 7, the boy is shipped off to learn how to sell, hawk or 'hussle'. That way, he will "make it" faster. But the purpose of education is to prepare the individual for any situation, to liberate the mind, to have an idea about things beyond the individual and many more. And so an educated mind will always be different from an uneducated one. We all need to get an education whether it is in Nuclear Science or Sociology or even Psychology I don't care. If you can afford it, it's no waste of time. Actually, it is the best gift parents can bequeath to their children. |
Those who see nothing wrong with this festival should cast their minds back to the time of Moses when Joshua, under pressure from the Israelites made a Golden Calf. While worshipping the calf, the Israelitese claimed that the uncanny festival was "to the Lord". How did the true God react? His anger burned that he almost exterminated those 'stiff-necked' Israelites (Exodus 32:1-33). Justifying this pagan festival will in no way make God happy. Compare Col 2:16,17 |
I am often amazed and held in awe when I look at certain animals, plants and insects. Although we were thought about evolution in secondary school science, I still wonder how things that evolved can be so arranged as if designed. Take a look at this moth I found at my compound and tell me what you feel in the light of Bible portions like Romans I:20, Hebrews 3:4, Isaiah 40:26 and Revelation 4:11

anitank: How do we know he was actually pinging while CROSSING A MAJOR ROAD? Who does that?I like the question you asked because I know what happens in a police case not talk of a murder case. Many lies are told in order to get free or win the case. If the Youth Corper was not really pinging on the road as alleged by the driver, then she will have her conscience to deal with all her life. I suspect the driver is merely trying to exonerate herself from culpability by claiming that the Youth Corp member was pinging on the highway. Even then, as a rule in driving, If the car in front of you stops suddenly, you cannot crash into it. If you do, you will be guilty not minding that the other fellow stopped abruptly. In the same way, crushing a straying child or a lunatic, or a drunk person or even a ping-drunk person cannot be justified. She ought to apply her brakes and use her steering wheel. |
See Road Safety officials looking helpless and standing by idly. |
ODUA_NEGRO: onyebuchi is currently acting but he is useless.....the people dont want him, they want chime. You mean they will not mind to continue with Chime even if he is dead? |
Libkid: The best way u can get ur ansa is to visit the mortuary or bera still the cemetry.i bet u will have a reason to celebrate the new year.My dear, people will always be in the mortuary and in the cemetry, even some of those that 'have reason to celebrate the new year'. Some will die from poison, fire, Boko Haram, road accident, plane crash, heart attack etc even after celebrating today. Those alive are not better than them. Jesus reminded us of this when he pointed out regarding the accident that happened in Siloam in which 18 persons died and another incident in Galilee whereby Pilate murdered many innocent souls (Lu 13:1-5). My argument is that being in the mortuary or in the hotel is not the important issue but making a good name with God (Eccl 7:1) |
