I dont think this is right in any way. Our mortality rate is still very terrible. We have one of the lowest life expectancy rates in the world. We don't have great grand parents living anymore. Even grandparents are dieing out before they see their grand kids.
Average male expectancy is easily 45yrs. Yes our population is growing but i dont think the net gain will be significant until we improve our "healthy living" standards

Growth and prosperity are two different things. The fact that people are suffering does not mean the country is not growing. It is definitely happening. What you can just say is that there is no equal distribution of wealth. that some people are stealing most of the weatlh, does not mean there is no growth. If there's no growth, there'd be no money to steal.

Not quite true. Kerosene stoves and candles have burnt so many homes down. It rarely is the case that homes get burnt down due to gas (in naija ooh). Its really not that easy to burn your house down with a leaking gas cooker. There is a reason they add that odour to the gas so one can perceive it. As a matter of fact, depending on the concentration of the gas, sometimes you just get a quick flash/explosion but it usually doesnt get to the point of burning down your kitchen. Not saying it doesnt happen thoug!!!

People just need to be educated. Gas cookers are cheaper. They burn faster and cleaner thereby saving you time and money. You also dont have to go QUEUE to buy gas,

Why cant people just switch to gas. It is cheaper on the long run. It's more efficient, cleaner , and you get your cooking done 5 times faster than kerosene stoves.

Unless you discovered a way to create matter the answer is no they do not multiply. They simply swell.

Isnt it funny how we have so many Nigerians who "believe" they know it all and yet no one will come forward to effect change. If Nigerias future depended on the internet, Nigeira would be the biggest economy in the world now.

When you compare costs, i believe you should compare using a common basis. It probably won't cost up to half of that to "build the actual road" in Lagos. Compare it to other projects. All they are doing is adding one lane on either side of the road. To be honest, i think the reason the road is that expensive is because of : corruption, inexperience (hitech don't seem to know nada), and excessive emphasis on the "toll gate itself"
When i was around, i know how much unnecessary time they spent on that first toll gate. Decorating and doing all sorts of rubbish. To think they even ran out of funds and wanted to start tolling in order to gain funds to complete the road.
Mind you, that figure was initial estimates. Im sure by the time the road is completed they would have "spent" over 150 billion. They are just a bunch of thieves.
It saddens me when i see the LCC boss talk. Yes development is good, but you don't have to rush into things. He keeps blabbing about the benefits of eztag and so on. Nigerians have been suffering on that road for over 8yrs now. All they want is some relief. How about you build the road, show people that traffic is now good and see if anyone will complain about the toll. Imagine asking people to pay toll on a road that will still have traffic the whole purpose of the project ooo)

There is no way on earth, that traffic problem will end with the current plan. They should have built flyovers. Period.

While trying not to be negative, i would say that if you expected to get to America without your tuition and just expected things to "sort" themselves out, then you must be from the 13th century.
I mean come on. We have the internet now and there is so much information out there. If you call yourself a graduate, your reasoning should at least show that. If a school states that your tuition is over 20,000 a year and you expect someone will pay for you or you will somehow work for it then you have a problem. Dont cry or blame anyone. Your lack of preparation/research is what messed you up. There are tons of people who knew what to expect and prepared for it. Don't make the US out to look like some sufferhead situation.

I have seen some of the worst roads I have ever seen in my life, in India this week. And one of them was a toll road. Have you seen that Lekki Road?
Trust me, the toll is well worth it.

While you do have a point, the comparison is really not necessary. The fact that poor roads are tolled in India does not mean we should be satisfied with an "Ok" road that is tolled in Lagos. Why can't we compare the road to better roads instead of looking backwords. I was in Houston recently and the road network is "a killer". The sam houston toll way/beltway 8 is tolled with about 6-7 lanes on either side of the road. The road runs in an elliptical shape round the city of houston, it is TOLLED but then you are not forced to use it because of the feeder lane that serves as an alternate route. THe only thing is that you have to deal with red lights if you don't use the tolled road. Lekki toll road can emulate that and not a bad road in India

A little googling would have answered your question. Arik operates New York flights through a portugese company (i think hifly or something) because nigeria didn't have CAT 1 status. They had to lease aircraft.
Now they can operate their own.

The Lekki Concession Company (LCC) has debunked allegations that it would begin the collection of toll on the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos, in August as reported in some newspapers.

LCC’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Opuiyo Oforokuma, made the declaration when the eight-man ad-hoc committee mandated by the Lagos State House of Assembly to investigate the project visited the company yesterday.

His words: “We never for once disclosed that the LCC would commence collecting toll on the Lekki-Epe toll-plaza on August 1. What we said was that we believe that by August, the project should be completed.”

He explained that a certificate of completion would be issued by the independent engineer appointed for the project before the company would commence tolling, adding that, after the issuance of certificate of completion, the company would also give a 14-day notice before tolling.

He said that the toll gates would be built in three phases and that the first one located at Maroko would be completed and certified by independent engineers before the company would embark on the second toll at Boroku.

The LCC boss said that the company had provided alternative routes for motorists who cannot afford the toll in line with global practice, noting that the company had also offered the state government N2 billion to accelerate work on the alternative routes.

Wow, that is really serious. That means a trip from VGC to Mobil house and back will require you to pass through the toll 4 times in one day. Chineke!!!
At the bare minimum of 100naira per toll, that equates to 400naira daily!!!
Even if there are alternative routes round the lekki toll, what about the chevron toll gate? This is serious oo

Johnnie i'd like you to confirm something for me.
The completed toll!!! Is it dual? I mean do you have to pay toll to leave lekki phase 1 to mobil house.
When i was back home, i remember the toll being on one side of the road i.e for those coming into lekki. The video i saw on youtube seems to show that you have to pay toll both to enter and leave? Please confirm if the toll is built on the entire stretch of road and not just on the inbound side.
