Although I have made up my mind not to comment on the Election of the 25th of February again but I will make an exception today.
Soyombo the real indigenes of Lagos State are very very very angry with the boastful, immature and uncouth language the Obidients have been pouring all over the media( online and offline).
I was born in Lagos, had my primary and secondary education in Lagos and went to government school with the real indigenes of Lagos growing up.
My secondary school education in Lagos State was in a boarding house in a far flung location, where having an ibo name automatically disqualified you from getting admission into the school.
I was admitted because I had both ibo and Yoruba names.
The Crux of my story is I'm in WhatsApp groups with my primary and secondary school friends and the feedback I get everyday from the group is disheartening.
The indigenes of Lagos are very very angry with the loud uncouth noise of the Obidients especially those from ibo extraction.
There's anger from imota to isale eko, from badagry to Epe,the people are seething with rage, even the educated ones are unleashing beastly articles about the occupation that's happening on their Homeland.
The admin of my WhatsApp groups have deleted many inflammatory post in our groups to calm down nerves.
Soyombo should know the mood of the real indigenes of Lagos is that of rage and anger to what they see as a hostile take over of their land.
I pray Sanwo-olu wins with a landslide on Saturday, that's the only thing that can assuage the feeling of anger among those I have talked to.
I will play my part by voting APC from top to bottom on Saturday.
It's an error to keep calling Lagos a no man's land, there are people who call Lagos their state of origin, you must respect the feelings of these real owners of Lagos
God bless Nigeria
You should have just maintained your 'dignified' silence instead of spewing this trash. You've just exposed your primary and secondary WhatsApp group members as among those who have not grown beyond their primordial thinking. No one who is truly successful is into this type of bigotry. You need to think deeply about whether you want to remain in such group that are populated by losers.

Obedient will not go away and are least concern with perennial noise making and empty threats every election period. We will vote our choice in Lagos State, and elsewhere. Miscreants, urchins, vagabonds, thugs, touts, who are not only the minority, but also in the same WhatsApp group cannot change or influence the will of the people. If you're coming to the poll on Saturday to make trouble, don't worry trouble is already waiting for you there. Lagos is part of Nigeria, and we all have freedom of choice and movement.

Obidients will be first to arrive at the polling booth. We dare you miscreants to stop us from voting.

We want to go cashless in Nigeria, according to you, because printing new notes is expensive, but we ended up spending hundreds of billions printing redesigned notes. What's the sense in that?
If going cashless is the objective, why not just scrap 500 and 1000 notes instead? You see why you can't defend this stupidity?
As I know it, there is cash, and the N200 has also been made available for use. I'm not sure why you are suggesting that there is no access to cash.

Maybe they should re-introduce coins as they are more durable and far cheaper to maintain.

PoliticsRe: Why Labour Party Cannot Win Lagos Gubernatorial Election by PointB: 2:07am On Mar 05, 2023
We will know soon.

But I see in your post is FEAR!, I can smell it.

nikky5:
Lagos undoubtedly fell to the Labour party last Saturday Presidential election for very obvious reasons. Not all yorubas supported the presidential ambition Tinubu. Majority of the Yoruba Christians who formed the majority voted against him. It was not the Igbo votes alone that gave Peter Obi that feat
It was indeed a wake up call to the APC because it was unprecedented. So many igbos were chest beating that they defeated Tinubu in Lagos was laughable. This never affected his victory in any way.

Anyone thinking of a repeat of that victory come 11th March, 2023 during the governorship election must be hallucinating. It's never going to be possible.

First and foremost, Sanwolu is a christian and greatly loved in Lagos. The Muslims also enjoyed his style of leadership and the great work he is doing in Lagos infrastructure wise. He will surely enjoy our bloc votes cos we shall massively vote for him. This will help him to continue the projects that he initiated to the benefits of Lagosians. Lagosians cannot experiment with an unknown candidate.

Another reason the Labour Party cannot capture Lagos is that it's candidate has come to prove to the yorubas that he is a mixed blood. There's a video that has gone viral showing that Gbadebo is a supporter of IPOB. We see him as a full fledged Igbo man who may support IPOB operation in Lagos. Besides, he does not know Lagos neither can he speak the Yoruba language. In all, he is a green horn without any experience to lead a mega city like Lagos.

CAN and the Ndigbo in Lagos has promised Sanwolu their full support during the election. Sanwolu has been very friendly with the Igbo community in Lagos and allows them to do their business without any hindrances. So, why will Sanwolu fall on Saturday?

That not withstanding, the Supreme Court has the right to depart from its previous decisions if the justice of the case demands that - Michael Aondoakaa, Former Minister of Justice.

My point is that the innocent do not have to suffer in your sinister Igbo group agenda. Lagos will rather vote Sanwolu or Awori Jandour, not a Chinedu.

In the build up to it, innocent patriotic Nigerians of Igbo extraction who are tiny minority in Lagos deserve my sympathy.I have never seen my Yoruba show this kind of rage. You should ask your relatives in Lagos why no lp flag is flying around in Lagos and on keke unlike build up to the Presidential election.
There is no Igbo agenda.

On that day, Nigerians, whether Igbo or Yoruba, Hausa will troop out and vote their choice, and I believe they will vote LP just to proof a point that they are not moved by hatred. There is nothing clowns and fearmongers can do about it. So if you like, continue fuelling bigotry, hate, and fear. It's your liver, kidney, and other organs that will suffer the bile your spleen is producing. Igbos don't care whether you exist or not. They are not interested in your self destruct. I honestly do not find it funny. You all caused this situation of jeopardy even for our patriotic Nigerians of Igbo extraction domiciled in Lagos.
See fear written all over your face. Sorry guy, I really feel for you. But your sentiment are only share by you. Patriotic Nigerians will troop out as usually to vote Labour Party, and more than that, they will defend their vote.

Igbos are the least concerns in your fear mongering. People are not scared of clowns anymore.

Inasmuch as I want us to heal from this elections, things are starting to take a very very dangerous turn.

First, things have taken a Tribal turn which is could lead us where we don't want to go. Obi was running a Christian/IGBO agenda and he had his reasons for doing so. But trying to make the victory of President Elect Asiwaju Tinubu seem illegitimate due to his unproven allegations of rigging is a recipe for disaster.

Secondly, boldly stating that you won an election when there is also a designated President Elect is giving room to Anarchy. Such claims can be made in a Court deposition and filed in a Tribunal, but to state on TV in a World Press Conference that he WON the election tilts towards sedition.

Thirdly, the comments of Chief Ezeife on ARISE TV this morning saying that President Elect Tinubu will NOT be sworn in and if by any means he is sworn in then there will be no Nigeria is a clear declaration of sedition if not even rebellion.

I hope Peter Obi is thinking things through and not letting his emotions or wrong advice of people close to him to lead him and his people to a point of no return.

As a final note, other parts/regions of the country are looking closely at what is happening and the truth is that the general opinion and assessment viz a viz the Igbos is not looking good. Another election will still come again and will they be trusted??

Let us think with our heads and not our hearts. It could be dangerous.

This election was largely free and fair and the wishes of majority of voters reflected in the results.

Let's not slide down a dangerous path.
Isn't it hypocrisy to ignore Tinubu Muslim/Muslim ticket and emilokan tribal rant to complain about Obi alleged Christain/Igbo agenda? So what agenda then was Tinubu promoting?

If you don't like Obi's position or comment, go and challenge it in court rather than directly fanning tribal bigotry you claim to be against. Which Igbo position is not looking good? What arrant nonsense is that? So we should keep quiet and allow blatant rigging to slide because we are Igbos? Mind the kind of trash you spew online.

FarahAideed:
The low intelligence Obidients Movt took 6 million votes and literarily poured kerosene on it and set it ablaze despite all pleas by visionary people to make the see the following fact:

1.That this election should be used to first remove APC from power
2 . The Obidient movt would only end up wasting crucial votes needed to get APC out
3 The more work the Obidients put in the better for Tinubu campaign
4 .Peter Obi no matter how popular would not be able to get more than 7 million votes and that would not be enough .

The stubborn short sighted mob went ahead and as we predicted

1 They handed Tinubu the presidency on a platter
2. For the first time they allowed an unpopular candidate win the election with just 8 million votes , no Nigerian president has been elected with such low votes but thanks to the Obidients it has happened .
3 .They have destroyed Nigerias secularity by helping to enable a Muslim Muslim ticket.
4 . Because of this stupidity Nigerian Muslims will be leading Nigeria for 24 straight years uninterrupted.. Many of you might never see a Christian president in your life time again left for a miracle
5 .they have set Igbo national politics back at least 30 years .
I don't know why you're weeping. Sorry my bro.

But if the election were to be held again today, we will still vote Peter Obi instead of Atiku or Tinubu. Compentency before anything else, that's how to build a functional society.

We have no pity for PDP or Atiku. What is to say Tinubu's reign will not be better than that of Atiku?

NaijaCowFarm:
I am not happy that Peter Obi did not win. There are clear fundamental factors that were so herculean to overcome the very moment LP/NNPP alliance failed.
Now that Atiku is seemingly out of the way, it is time to galvanise the opposition towards 2027. It is going to be a marathon, so let us start now. There is no point wasting resources on election tribunal. With the capacity shown by Obi, 2027 is possible, but we need to do the following:

1. Not waste time and resources on election tribunal, but need to let Nigerians know of the brazen robbery APC governors and Wike perpetrated. If the PDP wants to challenge the results, let them do so themselves, without involving LP

2. Get real political structure for Labour Party across Nigeria. One reason we loss was because we did not have strong roots in the North.

3. Galvanise all elected officials to form a formidable force to take on APC, which is already reduced in strength from 21 to 12 states.

4. Peter Obi and LP should focus on the March 11, 2023 governorship polls. Obi should begin touring states LP won to boost morale of LP supports in the 22 states win high voters. Not waste resources in states like Katsina, Yobe, Zamfara.

5. LP leadership should begin talks with NNPP, progressive still in PDP and form a formidable party with structure, just like what ACN/CPC did. We need to start now.
Why do you think he cannot fight injustice while still building LP. Are the two things mutually exclusive?

The igbos could not see beyond their nose that if a northern Muslim is president Atiku this tenure it becomes obvious that a southern Christian should succed him by then Tinubu would have been old and out of the game that is the last Yoruba national leader. The only person who will want to rub shoulders with the igbos would be fashola but he is no Tinubu. Politics is not a game of logic but absolute interest. They played into the hands of those who sponsored obi. Reno told them Obi is been sponsored they rein curses on him. Well I would always say they are individually clever collectively foolish. Now more ppl would feel they can do without them politically. Igbos may not produce a president in this nation. Tinubu I know will divide them between the rich and the poor.
Even with your tirade, and the benefit of hindsight, if the election were to be repeated today, under same circumstance, we will still vote OBI. We vote competence, not crowd. Whatever happens we know we voted our conscience, so cry your own cry and leave Igbos out of your mouth.
PoliticsRe: Don't Be Biased!!! Can I Become President Without 25% In FCT? by PointB: 1:33am On Mar 01, 2023
waynetee:
Where is that stated?

Let me ask you this, why did you think the winner must have 25% of FCT, let's put constitution aside now since its confusing you
FCT is not a state. It a representation of the diversity of Nigeria. Winning it would be nice, but not winning 25% of the vote is frowned upon by the constitution. I posed a question about FCT to the ChatGPT app and this is what it came up with:

What if a candidate wins the majority votes, and 25% in 36 states, but fails to win 25% in the FCT. What happen, according to the constitution?

If a presidential or gubernatorial candidate wins the majority of votes and also secures at least 25% of the votes cast in each of at least two-thirds of Nigeria's 36 states, but fails to secure 25% of the votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, according to the Nigerian Constitution, such a candidate cannot be declared the winner of the election.

In this scenario, the election would be declared inconclusive, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would have to organize a supplementary election in the FCT to determine the winner.

It is important to note that the provision of securing at least 25% of the votes cast in each of at least two-thirds of Nigeria's 36 states and the FCT is a constitutional requirement that must be met for a presidential or gubernatorial candidate to be declared the winner of an election in Nigeria.

- ChatGPT
According to the Nigerian constitution, Tinubu will NOT be declared winner. The best he can hope for is a run-off. Atiku will win the run-off, and Obi will retrieve his mandate from Atiku.

Section 299 of the constitution says that for the purpose of interpretation of the Constitution, the FCT is regarded as a State.

The implication is that:

The FCT is a State but given a name.

Since the FCT is given a name by the drafts men, it won't be right to say 37 states.

However, the name is 36 States and the FCT. It simply means 37 states.

Tinubu has met the requirements.

The court has affirmed that position and the constitution is clear.
