The Op raised salient points many of which are spot on. It is sometimes incredible when people read stuff about second Niger bridge and Eenugu airport politics and conclude that Igbos are dependent on the government. This is very far from the truth. An average Igbo family is less dependent on the government compare to what obtain in other regions and ethnic groups. This self reliance pre-dates the civil war; it is at the core of the Igbo republican nature. Perhaps this is the main factor responsible for the seemingly apathy towards politics and government at the centre. The Op has given invaluable insight of the perception of Igbos on politician, there is no point belaboring. Politicians basically serve their own interest and possibly represent law and order as mandated by the law. But that said, the Igboman also believe in justice, equity, and fairness. This accounts for their support of GEJ (an ijaw minority) during the last election; when it was obvious that a cabal intended to push him out. In rallying unconditionally behind him, we demonstrated yet again our sense of fairness and equity; devoid of politics of expectation. When 2015 comes, the penchant for pursuing fairness and equity will yet again propel our decision to support a candidate; not just the desire for politics for the sake of it. GEJ is not any worse than his predecessor, and there is no guarantee that the next guy will come with a magic bullet, while we would prefer for him not to run again in 2015, the only way to persuade us from campaigning massively and voting for him is if someone that fits the profile is running. Igbos have endured several clueless hausa fulani who ruled by the barrel; we have voted for Yoruba muslim, Yoruba christian, hausa muslim, and Ijaw christain. It's time to consider voting for one of our own. Igbos, and those with sense of justice will consider this stance fair! It is important to note as the Op said, that Nigeria statistics (population spread especially) are phantom, hence to discount a sizeable mobile population in any political equation is often the beginning of failure. In 2015, this reality will again come to the fore. |
Wadeoye: All we need for Buhari to be president is simple majority - democracy does not require everybody to vote for him. So, we are not worry at all that you would vote wrongly again. But I can asure you, majority of nigerians will do the right thing this time around.Clown. Simple majority vote indeed. Baffles me that folks who don't understand how Nigeria election is decided still prowl this forum. Ignorance is bliss indeed! |
honeric01: I no people like you can't answer simple questions, people of questionable characters are like this.Suit yourself boy, I am not oblige to dignify your rhetoric with any rebuttal. |
Wadeoye: High blood pressure will kill you over this Buhari issue. And note, most of the people contributing here are more enlightened and wiser than you. I advice you sit down and learn from the various contributions.lol @ you stupidi.ty If you dont like what the facts that are stated about buhari, how is that my problem. Bro you rather need history lesson. Take it or leave it, buhari is perpetually unelectable; you can continue hawking expired drugs or move on with your life. Whatever you choose is your business, as my business is mine. |
Eziachi: Why do you guys kept up with this lies? Its on record that Buhari had never planned or participated in any coup in Nigeria. Why do kept thinking that by keeping this lies going that one day it will becomes the truth? What is the lie about Buhari being a coup plotter and benefiting from such? If he he wasn't part of the coup plot, why didn't he refuse the offer to benefit from such? Or what is the difference between a thief, one one abets, and the one who benefits from the proceed? Why also pretend that the islamic world view and disposition of buhari is oblivious to you and other Nigerians? You choose what to see and believe, perhaps. But the truth and fact are there staring you in the eyes. Buhari is a bigoted, bloody, coup plotter. Nigerians will keep rejecting him! |
Wadeoye: Dont bring any minority rubbish into this. No way for GEJ in 2015. Nigerians are coming together to rescue their country by ensuring capable people are put in aso rock regardless of religion and ethnicity. And the capable people happen to be Buhari, who has never proffered any serious political or economic idea, let alone in English language. But as far as he can add Fashola/Osho as VP, all is suddenly right? You folks fool no one but yourselves! |
Okija_juju: HeheheheheheeeQuit pandering. It wont hurt you to say something nice about a sister state, would it? |
honeric01: @PointBI think the correct question should be, why do you get hard on each time we remind folks that Buhari is an old clueless bigot who truncated democracy, and has no business seeking to benefit from it? |
nuclearboy: Use the same criteria to judge - if Buhari, who accepted to take over a rapidly failing country and went ahead to restore to a great extent our pride as a nation in 21 months, should have hanged, tell us what should have happened to the man who seceded and cost 3 million lives because he didn't want the oppression that was the order of the day then!Let's go that route since you brought it up. Who invited Buhari to take over? Didn't the idi.ot learn anything from history of military incursion in the 60's? Was Dimka not shot for his military coup? Why was buhari not shot or hanged? Which country did he restore, and by what means? What happened afterward? The fact of the matter is that buhari was part and parcel of those military brigands who set the hands of the clock back by intervening to truncate democracy. In sane clime he should be rotting in jail not popping his head up every time he hears of electioneering, and shedding crocodile's tears each time it is obvious that he would be rejected. Buhari is as clueless and they come and cannot govern even his own family. Ever since he left office, what idea has he proposed other that roaming free like an almajiri in the north searching for blood of dogs and baboons to spill? Why should such stone age man be seen anywhere close to civilization? If you so much want him, appoint him ruler of your home and family! Nigerians have rejected him, and will continue to do so ad infinito. |
pazienza: The men from south west think we can't see through their veneer of patroitism, i can already see tinubu making buhari to sign an agreement to hand over to his yoruba vice, when he is through. These people have not learnt from awo-gowon scenario, Buhari is a power hungry coup plotter,he had once truncated our democracy, and he won't have any problem doing it again when the time comes for his hand over. Of course, this can never happen,as buhari and his south-west partners, will be silenced come 2015. Fresh air all the way!My brother, the people we are dealing with are intrinsically ethnicist and care only for themselves and no other. I am glad your recognise their motivation, even as they mask it in the cloak of patriotism. What patriotism if I may ask? Where was buhari when these people vote obj? Where was he when yar adua was elected? All of a sudden he is their champion. Yoruba support for buhari is only hinged on the assumption that he will pick one of their own (Yoruba) as VP. In all the permutation, have you heard a single Yoruba man suggest buhari and apkabio or ribadu and (ijaw man). You will never hear that, because Yoruba are looking for a backdoor to the presidency even after a disatrous obj 8 years. The sad fact is that they know buhari is clueless and has no idea what governance is all about. But as far as they can pair him with a Yoruba man, everything is perfect. I hope the minority ethnic group are watching the unfolding? Let me laugh in gamgam style while we wait for the magical 2015 to unfold. |
pazienza: Now,let me expose the tribalism and regionalism, the two civil war bed fellows are trying to cover with a veneer of patroitism. The two bed fellows fought for a one nigeria they can control, with gowon and awo at the helm of affairs,it was mission accomplished. Fast foward to 2013,the two regions have lost out in the power game to a minority from the east,so they want the power back. This isn't about love for nigeria, this is about control of nigeria,a buhari/fashola ticket,to pave way for fashola's presidency after buhari eight years tenure, this is what this is all about. My guy spot on. That is why MASSOB and MEND should prepare to up their games, if they are indeed reading the hand writing on the wall. Have you noticed in it all their is no plan to include minorities and resource owners in their equation. It is all about oil politics and access to the treasury to loot the nation and position Fashola for presidency in 2019 at the expense of the SE and SS. Some folks think they are smart! But I believe though, it will all come to nought as the SW will wake up to the rude reality that they infact do not control the Lagos votes! 2015 will be very interesting! |
kunlekunle: the property he vacated was the rented cpc headquarter in abuja not his personal residence.I can relate to that. But I am responding to some folks here are saying he has no property of his own. If he has no property of his own, is that not a result of his lack of vision or drive? How much was a plot of land in 1985 in Lagos, PH, Enugu, Abuja or Jos vis-a-vis how much he was earning. If he was unable to acquire land with his own salary and build houses gradually over the years with him income is he not clueless? Why should he be pitied for his stupi.dity? |
truth4meal: your folly is gross. Do you by chance engage the service of reasonable thoughts when it matter most? Its obvious you religiously hate Buhari that is subjective but being undeserving stupid calls for public censure. If a man who diligently serve his nation in fairness and truth is referred to my someone who obviously is paid to think wrongly as "lacks foresight" then foresight must be in tandem with looting. Buhari managed Nigeria better than all the presidents after him - for you to now say he lacks foresight and clueless shows clueless in your sad thesaurus means someone who can not plunder the economy of the nation he preside over and foresight will mean stealing outrageously for the future of your generation at the expense of our collective posterity.Your idiocy is legendary. Which country did buhari serve diligently? Nigeria or some other country? Who asked the clown? A man who truncated democracy because he had the gun and knows no better, and achieved nothing worthy of note. A man who not even used his own remuneration for anything useful for himself. Buhari was one of those who destroyed the country with his silly military intervention. The clown served his ego and nothing more. But folks like you know no better. That is why you think despotic leaders, who belongs to the gulag deserve praise and glory. But true Nigerians will not be deceived, not even his crocodile's tears can change anything; he has been roundly rejected thrice, and would be rejected as many times as myopic folks like you attempt to foist such bigoted, clueless, dour figure on our national polity. The dinosaur belongs to the museum, and you can join him there if you are so convinced. Efforts to launder him in any form will result in a nullity, and your frustration. Quit dissipating precious time and find someone worthwhile to promote! Stop selling expired product!! |
If it's about terminating the 10,000 jobs mischievously or maliciously create weeks before the expiration of ohakim's tenure or the council chairmen 'elected' against courts decision, I am afraid the writer has no case. I am curious as to what consitute haphard construction of roads and hospitals, and Schools? Perhaps he shouldn't construct them? The other day I saw a list of Imo State contractors and the mobilisation fee posted here on Nairaland. I think the writer is paid hack, and the Op is on his own here! |
If buhari has no home of his own, it is not because he is clean, it is rather because he is clueless, and lacks foresight. A soldier is entitled to remuneration and allowance depending on how he is deployed. A commissioned officer even earn more. If Buhari was unable to accumulate his savings over such long period of service to the country to build a decent four bed-room apartment for himself in Lagos or Abuja (not necessarily in choice area), something is definitely wrong with him. His poverty is not cause by lack of money, but lack of ideas. Such people are dangerous to burgeoning financial systems and are most likely to destroy them due to their lack of financial literacy, and inability to utilize financial resources to achieve set goals. In summary, buhar'si situation after years of service to the country, is not because he is clean, it is rather because he is either clueless, visionless or cursed! |
miredia: The ultimate question raised is, what choice do you proffer to galvanize the system?I know the question, I have my answers but I choose not to go into specifics at the moment. I will however paraphrase. The need for fairness, justice, and equity must be paramount in the choice of a popular (read realistic) president in 2015. The choice must take into consideration the fact that certain region of the country has produced more presidents than the others; and that currently, there is a fierce contest between the core north and the south east. In choosing a president in 2015, the political elites must identify that the boko haram terrorism, the Niger Delta militancy, and MASSOB are a creation of perception of inequalities, marginalisation, and religious extremism respectively. The selection of next president must naturally take cognisance of these problems even before the candidates are unveiled. Buhari may be able to solve the boko haram problem for obvious reason, but how does he intend to solve the possible challenge thrown up by MASSOB or MEND? Gun blazing? Jail? Even at that, he is not the only Northerner who can do that! It is very simplistic to pop up and throw up a name here and there, but recognising that Nigeria's problem is far more complex than boko haram and corruption is the starting point of picking the next president. PDP as hated and corrupt as they are portrayed always seem able to recognise this and make the right choice. Again, Fashola or Oshiomole in the midst does not address any of these problems. A very good mix for 2015 should at the very minimal address the need of the SE, Core North, and the Niger Delta. Anything short of this will have the next president chasing shadows! |
Pastor Kun: 1,000,000 likesMy brother don't mind them. They will never learn. Let them keep deceiving the old murderous bigoted beast to run, until the run him to the grave. |
lagcity: Boo hoo, cry me a river. Nigerians are yearning for "an old bigoted tyrant." Something terrible must have happened! What the heck happened? Jonathan happened.Even if GEJ perform abysmally as currently being falsely touted by sectional and bought press, Buhari will N-E-V-E-R smell the presidency again till he dies! You can take this to the bank! There are others who are more presentable than the old bigoted tyrant! |
dapotemi: Lemme enlighten you a bit.An averageThank for the attempt. But I disagree with you on both count of religion and rigging. Let's start with the rigging. In the first place to say that buhari is unpopular in the SE is an understatement, he is detested. To make the matter worse he never turn-up in the the SE/SS to explain himself during the campaign. How would he have garnered the votes against a closer GEJ, by some miracle or voodoo? Being a corper does not give u broad access to what happened during the election, as matter of fact, the ways corpers were deployed actually limit the scope of information they received. By the way, your allusion to knowing what went on in the SS/SE as a corper implicitly implied that you were posted to two regions during the election, we know that is not possible. You can only know what transpired in your corner! Secondly, do you happen also to know of certain corpers that were murdered by the CPC zealots after the election? One of them reported on his facebook page of rife incidence of under-age voters in the North. They even demanded he hand over left-over ballots paper to them. I bet his refusal apparently caused him his life eventually. Why aint you accusing the North of rigging for CPC/Buhari? Or is under-age voting and using extra ballot papers not a form of rigging? Or because that Buhari lost despite the massive rigging, therefore, it is no longer rigging? The issue of religion, ethnicity, and zone is a know factor in Nigeria elections. It is wrong to use the military organised botched 'selection' of 1993 to judge. Recall, their was only two political parties, and voter's apathy was rife then as choices were tightly controlled. Religion and ethnicity do matter a lot in Nigeria election, inability to recognise this is always the bane of some political parties. The opposition parties are better advised to take very important note of this fact! |
Deep Sight: Well I must say that one unfortunate reality that is emerging from this thread is the paucity of realistic options for an opposition presidency in 2015. IF Buhari (as seems to be the case from the generality of comments here) is the only realistic opposition option, in a nation of 250 tribes and 160 million people - after 16 years of Democracy - and a full 32 years after the same Buhari took power as Military Head of State; well, that just says a lot for the very sad and limited space in Nigerian Politics. Not just sad, but utterly shameful, that even those who oppose GEJ decision to appoint old men like Anenih into figure head position such as board chairman, have no qualms nominating a roundly rejected old hack such as buhari to manage a heterogenous and complex system like Nigeria with his antiquated ideology and archaic mentality. It's even more pathetic that the best they could bring up to butress their point was his brutish performance when he ruled by the gun. A nation replete with young vibrant and idealistic individuals will rather an old bigoted tyrant be chosen to rule them, simply because they foolishly and ignorantly believe he can single handed throw people into jail, in a democracy! Even though such feat solves little or no part of the problem. But let's take solace in the fact that this state of myopia is only exhibited by small subset of the populace, who will again be roundly defeated at the poll when it matters most. Let 2015 come upon us. |
take dat: Numpty, you think I've gat time for a one-sided half-wit!Dunce, yet you quoted me twice. |
take dat: Bros, you were asked to provide a realistic option and not a trashy epistle! My guy make me or sharrap! |
Oahray: Yep, Osho has no REAL certificates. I followed the election tribunal case closely, saw all the evidence for his lack of qualification. Bad case for him. They had to run to the Supreme court and the 'powers that be' to stop the election tribunal from looking into his qualification ish.I wonder what is for AC.N top shot and certificate forgery. As it was with Tinubu so it is for Oshiomole. The opposition is slacking in Edo, drag the guy's ar/se to the court for pejury and false claim if he cannot produce the evidence. And shameless people are touting this lair for presidency. What is the country turning into? |
The other reason I maintain it is idiocy to even mute buhari for 2015 is because part of the reason why democracy is yet to take root in Nigeria is because of id.iots such as Buhari who truncated democracy simply because they lacked foresight! He jumped into the fray with little or no idea about what it takes to rule a country, and ended up creating more political tension than he solved. Fast forward to recent years, what has buhari 'said' in recent time to show which direction he is going to lead the country if made president. I am not asking for what he has 'done', cos he I haven't heard him done anything other than campaigning during election. What economic or political idea has buhari proposed with his own words (not some polished manifestoes)? Other than issuing threats of 'dogs and baboons will be soaked in blood' or treathening brimstone and fire if he loses election, pray say, what positive comment has the murderous ex-general ever made concerning his intention for Nigeria. Let's even assume he intends to fight corruption. The big question is how? What are his plan for fighting corruption, and after that what next? I rather hear this from the horse's mouth, than from paid agents and AC.N hacks who are only interested in what Tinubu will pay them once he gain unlimited access to the nation's coffers with immunity guaranteed courtesy of his effort in delivery at the ballots. |
For starters, buhari or whatever names he chooses to use during in 2015 will not win 2% of the votes in the SE/SS, he will need at least 25% least we forget. Adding fashola to the ticket will only split Lagos state as the non-indigene population of Lagos State will be reminded that Nigeria is a pluaristic society, and a muslim/muslim is not reflective of the reality of the country. The elitist demeanor of Fashola, and the Tinubu influence will only add icing to the cake. The chance of buhari winning Lagos State will be considerable narrowed. The ideal ticket for the 2015 election is the one that respects fairness, equity, and justice. And such ticket must respect the wishes of the core north, SE and SS. The Yorubas have just finished a disastrous 8 years, no thanks to Obj, other parts of the country deserves a shot at the presidency. It is rather too early to throw up names now. Last quarter of 2013 and the whole of 2014 is more appropriate. That said, it is very idiotic to even start suggesting an old man and a very bigoted buhari or a muslim/muslim ticket. |
Imo State has one of the highest female literacy index in Nigeria. Prostitution is often associated with lower level of education, which oten limits the female practitioner other source of income. Fairly educated women know the dangers and shames associated with prostitution, and generally shy away from it. Is not then puzzling to associate the mostly better educated Imo ladies with prostitution? Something is wrong with the picture. It surely must be some misconception. The Imo State I know is the one that family members looks out for another, and help each becomes better individual in life. A state where schooling and education is deemed very important since the days 'Eze goes to school', 'Without a silver-spoon' I surmise that Imo State is synonymous with education, and being ones brother's keeper! |
Lol, Perhaps he's afraid Messi will the African Nations cup for Argentina. |
The Op has raised an important topic. Many of us believe (rightly or wrongly if I may add) that judging from its 'huge' income and prior state of development vis-a-vis completed and on-going project, Lagos State is a massive centre for abuse and high level fraud by the state governor and his godfather. But we have to steer away from Lagos State now and deal with other states that receives similar income (IGR and FG Allocation) like Lagos State. States in this category include Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, and of course Delta States. That said, Imo, Abia, and Edo states should also be considered for spotlighting as they are also part of the oil producing states and do receive substantial oil base income. What are these states doing with their incomes? It is not enough to say the governors are performing or thieving, we want to know specifically abandoned projects they completed, new ones they initiated, and perhaps too what the governors are having for breakfast, lunch, and supper, and who is paying for it. But I think this thread will be best served if the Op modifies it with a focus on particular state. Otherwise, we will dissipate energy talking about 'Niger Delta', while the culprits or performing governors go unnoticed. |
Interesting. Abati could very well be speaking of ACN of today. Identity theives, certificate forgers, contractors, nest of killers, strange bed fellows, etc. Nigeria political parties are all same of same. |
What did this old bigot forget in the state house that he is in a hurry to go back for. Buhari and other generals belong to the past, the new generation will see it so! Sai Bin Buhari, nothing for you except the losers corner! |
Anybody with the disposition of Prof Barth Nnaji is warmly welcome to the power ministry. The privatisation drive has reached a critical juncture, we dont want a still birth. |
Lmao @topic I think the minister should be renamed Minister of State Of Defeat. Joke aside, I think Ministers of Defence who have no paramilitary experience should be taken through some form of hardening at the relevant security agencies. They should be taught how to handle gun, resist interrogation, amongst other. It's disgraceful that a hawk cowers in fright at the sight of chicken! This woman (and others) should go for hardening, she might not be lucky next time. |
