Those behind legalising cannabis for selfish interest forgot that their generation might later fall victim of cannabis smokers. Let's have posterity in mind even if we think we are untouchable. That is why I love white men, they have the lives that will exist after them in mind that is why they try their best to leave good legacies behind. Even the policy of cut a tree and plant 2 trees is to ensure better life for the upcoming ones. But blacks are always thinking of "myself" and "today". |
Properties › Re: Is It A Bad Practice To Fill The Holes In Foundation Block-Works With Laterite? by professore(m): 10:45am On Sep 04, 2021 |
saferoom: The best practice is to fill the Blocks in the foundation with weak concrete (or normal concrete if you can afford it). The reason for filling blocks with concrete is obvious: To make the blocks stronger as if they are concrete blocks. There is what is called EARTH PRESSURE acting on the blocks which makes the blockwork act as if they are Retaining Walls. So leaving them Hollow like that is not the best however since to avoid the cost of filling them with concrete, they just assign a labourer to block the holes before putting the chain beam to connect all the columns (pillars)
Then coming to the question of filling the blocks with laterite (filling sand), is not a common practice thought some people do it. It is not advisable to have earth on both sides of the block and also inside the blocks. The soil inside the holes of the blocks doesnt offer added strength like concrete will do, so it becomes an added load on the blocks. It is like a pregnant woman. The baby inside her is an added load. Whatever doesnt make you stronger makes you weaker. It's a universal principle.

san316: I currently work in one of the Third Generation Banks as a full staff. Currently I am on the second level in the sales department, salary is good, being considered for promotion which hasn't come in a while, based in Abuja with family and all.
Got an offer with a better 3rd generation bank. next level in a different department, higher pay but will have to relocate to Kaduna. Report directly to a Group Head, will have a dedicated car but greater responsibility.
The current place is like my comfort zone, I'm well known and I've been here for Seven years.
Please advice whether to move or not. stay where you are. |

MeghaneMorgane: I am a young lady in my mid 20s. I don’t live with my parents. I live alone because I work in another city different from where my parents live. My problem now is immediately I get back home from work, I begin to feel lonely. Because of this, I like to close late from work just to keep my mind busy. I close early only if I have other errands to run or if I am very tired.
When I get home, I speak with my parents who try their best to keep me company. But there is still lots of time left before I go to bed. In the height of my boredom, I come to nairaland. Then I go to other blogs to read the news. I read all the news blogs I normally follow. I check out my chats on WhatsApp and Telegram. Usually there isn’t anyone chatting with me because everyone is busy with their lives. I go to Youtube which I have become tired of watching. And at some time I’m just bored to my mind. I don’t like to impose myself on anybody and so I only chat with people who come to chat with me including neighbours.
Sometimes I just want someone around that I can talk to but I’m alone by myself. Single people, how do you cope with boredom. I mean single people who are really single not the ones cohabiting or visiting their partners. Some tips will be very helpful right now. my advice for you is that you should not keep late night because of being lonely, evil lurks around at night and early in the morning, so go home in time. Then you can find a good church like New Life Church and join their workforce. Church allows you to meet people of like mind, then make Jesus your friend and part of what he will give you is a good husband. |
