NaijirianKing: That's my point exactly.
Biafra declared for its independence in the same way America did, when America told England that they are an independent nation, of course this led to a war of reprisal. The declarations made by Biafra and America are the same but the outcomes were different. Same declaration, but different results as America was able to defend their claim to be a fully fledged break away region from the British empire, while Biafra was only able to hold on to its independence for 3 years.
In those 3 years Biafra produced indigenous trucks, vans, cars, war planes, generated enough lights for commercial activity to continue unabated, created airports that could be hidden during the day to avoid bombing, ammunition, and refined enough oil to not have to import any. To an extent the blockade was good for the Igbos as they were forced to look inside and use only what was found in their region, this led to many indigenous technical breakthroughs.
And you are correct, if you lose a war of independence there will be consequences, such consequences include that your government will be disbanded. But, if you as the conquering nation disbands a working government, like what was in Biafra, you have to replace it with another working government. Unfortunately the government that replaced the government of Biafra hasn't been able to deliver safety, good roads, light, etc. That's the problem.
So yes, Biafra was an independent nation for 3 years, but that was then, now Biafra is a part of Nigeria, and Nigeria needs to treat it as such. Those who call for Biafra merely mean that they need a responsible Federal government or they'd rather revert to the working Biafran government and leave Nigeria for "Nigerians". Then what changed? @the bolded. Surely it was during the war that the Ibos experience true marginalization, as compared to present day Nigeria, if you guys could achieve all this with such limitations then I expect you guys to follow in the foot steps of Japan that the US dropped more than 4 atomic bombs, but could still recover such holocaust to become one the most powerful countries in the world, surpassing some of the countries that never experienced such devastation. I know asking you to be like Japan will be asking for too much, but can't you see its not Nigeria that's your problem, think about what you could achieve during the war during such marginalization, was it because you guys were under the military that made you guys be more committed and discipline? Cos as far as am concerned the problem of this country was magnified by the dirty civilian leaders that call them selves politicians. |

TheGenius001: Thank you sir.How is the book?? How much did you get it?? It's more like a guide on how the mind makes the man, speaks more of the metaphysical, the powers mind over the body, the false model we give the mind to work with for instance you are supposed to grow and look better with age but we give our minds the model of getting weaker and fragile with age. There is one chapter that talks about The Within and The Without, Your are in an environment where there is conflict, you allow the scenes of conflict enter your mind through your senses, before you know it you become nervous, afraid, agitated and your heart starts racing what happens without suddenly starts happening within you, but if you can shut out the the chaos from without to permeate your mind your mind you will remain calm in the mist of chaos. This is one of the things you will find in the book, there are just too many aspects in that book, but it's what you can use in your everyday live to make you use the most of your mind. I lost the more than 10 years ago, that was one of my most priced assets |

The governors should sack workers and keep what they can afford to pay. Shikena but what about Governors what is their own sacrifice, their take home pay will rather go up, while they sacked workers are used like sacrificial rams. |

Cut down the governors convoy to maximum 3 cars
Cut down the governors staff to essential staff only
Shut down the governors guest houses
The Governor should stop chattering planes and fly economy and only make essential travels to Abuja and Lagos
Stop the nonsense party in government house
If you do this all states can afford 50k minimum wage for all civil servants comfortably Apart from downsizing, these Governors will rather die than to temper with what concerns them. Greedy sets of Pigs. |

Most parents don't give their daughters to men who "have something to offer" they give their daughters to men that have the whole package. To put it more elaborately - man that can take of their daughter financially, emotionally, physically and psychologically. I don't remember women being charged with these responsibilities while growing up, all they are told is to be submissive, tolerant, and supportive. However the tables have turn, most men can no longer pass the integrity test in taking care of a woman as stated in the 2nd paragraph. |

MissRaine69: You get plenty of that name calling here for merely expressing an opinion from strangers at that Society will always be hypocritical be it Western or African. Nigerian society has quadruple standards. Women will always have to abide to a different set of rules compared to men. This is why there is so much covert behaviour. This is why there is a hidden bitterness brewing in women, some times I feel this bitterness is what created the monster in the 3rd wave feminist movement, a monster I believe created by men. The day I understood that men and women are not so different, I began to understand why things are the way things are. I mean what does a man like that a woman doesn't? Hypocrisy is sin men are the champion of. I speak for my self though, I don't expect the egotistic maniacs to agree with me. |

NaijirianKing: Biafra was an internationally recognized country, but if you lose a war, you lost a war and if the nation that takes over says your country doesn't exist, then it is wiped off the map. That's the reality. So if you take over another nation, there are certain functions of government you have to also take over, currency circulation is just one of the many. Other duties also include, light, roads, sewage, etc. Guy pls it's enough pls, this statement just made me see you are being sentimental with your arguments, When was Biafra even a country, and when was it created for how long? Mind you the purpose of the war was FOR BIAFRA TO BE AN INDEPENDENT STATE, not because Biafra was already an independent state. Am not against any tribe but I hate people that try to gather sympathy through propaganda. You have been raving about how the Ibos were short changed by Awo, now the same you are saying the Nigeria Govt outlawed the Biafra currency rendering all the Ibos money useless, so why do you even want Nigeria money again when you have already converted all your assets to Biafran currency, can't you see the Ibos sold all their belongings and headed to their stronghold to brace for the war? Have you forgotten you lost the war? Do you think it's a small price you pay for losing a war? For how long will you guys play this victim card? The truth is you will never heal when you keep feeding yourself this one sided stories. Other tribes in the South had also lost a great deal, but no theirs is not important its the lose of the Ibos that should be the concern of all. Am sure this one sided story is what you will tell your kids and the cycle continues. My coach said if you are running a race to win you don't keep looking back, you set your sights on finish line ahead of you. |

MeanChris: So you can endure a murderer but not a boastful man? Interesting
So you want to cut down Igbos?? Interesting I have read your post, I will only say you should speak for yourself. Coming out to say Ibos are not tribalistic is like saying Nnamdi Kanu believes in one Nigeria. It's very glaring that Ibos are tribalistic, just look at the large following Kanu has, calling Nigeria a zoo and all the citizens that don't agree with biafra, if you guys were not tribalistic how come no one is calling him to order, even the so called elders have become spineless all of a sudden, to me their silence is only a sign of approval. If you have a problem with bad governance why not call out the leaders and and the dirty politicians, instead you start a war with the entire country calling us names even when most of us are going through the same hell. Look at nairaland any post that is pro biafra has more likes and shares even if it's the most absurd statement you have ever seen. The reverse is the case if it's anti biafra. Am using biafra because it's like that is now the face of Ibos, any Ibo person that will come out to make a post that conflicts with ipob will be tagged an AFONJA. I have been here for a very long time, and I saw how it all started. Calling Lagos a no man's land is not only disrespectful, it shows Ibos are Ingrates. It's no news that Ibos believe they are the superior tribe that's why they don't want to be a part of anything that they are not the head of, even if they are not competent to handle that position. my job has exposed me to alot of tribes in this country and you saying Ibos are not tribalistic is a lie. |
