There were no women in either youth teams so both parties lose points for lack of equality. Especially when the APC dude was trying to define what women want, he de craze? PDP did try - remember they are defending an incredibly poor record and incompetent president. Anyone that can stand on TV and do that deserves at least a pat on the back. Akin Oyebode absolutely mopped the floor with Ayedee, his reaction was priceless, the foolishness of GEJites unraveled before our very eyes. |
Doyin - is that not a yoruba name? So the man is at least partly yoruba? So even he knows he's lying and taking people for a ride. Yoruba people are not like Northerners, yes the existence of an Oba gives us a little bit of structure and direction but we do not sit around dwindling our thumbs waiting for an Oba to tell us who to vote for. We're not idiots you know. |
mandhi:I've completely judged him, he is a failure who has done nothing but benefit himself, allow insurgency and impunity to entirely corrupt a nation that is already incredibly corrupt. Like they say charity begins at home and if he had the vision at all, it will be visible in otuoke. It is not. |
Maybe his children wasn't one of those kidnapped. Given the way the president behaved in the wake of the Chibok crises, to the way he is even behaving now. I would expect them to stone the emissary back to Abuja. (you know, mama peace style) GEJ proves to be soo shameless with every move that he makes, who are the people advising him? They do not love him one bit! |
naa - not good enough. Too much asskissing. Where is Wole Soyinka. . . . . |
QuotaSystem:Hi Quota - I have 2 things to say. 1st - I cannot believe we overlooked the fact that she has been indicted by EFCC! See these are the kinds of records we should be looking at before electing anybody to power! 2 - I think there is a fine line between identifying regional trends and being out rightly bigoted, and I think you crossed it. We cannot be accusatory of a whole region of people because of one daft womans 'unguided utterances'. I suggest you stick with the message which is 'Patience Jonathan is a bigoted fool' without attacking a region of people. Especially if you are from the North, you must know the saying about those that live in glass houses. You should edit your post. |
annazubi:He was pandering to national sentiment - but it was a rather radical move. Now when did he kill 5million people abeg tell us we didnt know that one. |
annazubi:he killed 5 million people? When?? |
mandhi:absolutely, the government fail to provide the needs of any Nigerian, but given the position of the communities within the oil producing areas they at least deserve the extra attention. The type paid to Abuja and Lagos for example. Whoever takes on the role should have complete empathy for the individuals in the community and apart from the manifesto I haven't seen any evidence from the aspirants. We can rule Jonathan out especially given he is one of them - he's clearly more interested in politics than social mobilisation. |
We hear of Okonjo Iweala's continuous lamentation of oil theft, even in the aftermath of reduced militancy due to the Amnesty granted. Truth is, the oil theft as rampant as Nigerias corruption is activity of those on top. The presidency itself has been accused of engaging in illegal activities, Niger Delta still remains neglected and there has been failings from all parties to remedy the environmental damage caused. GEJ is from this area, and has equally failed to assist with the struggles of the Niger Delta people. In the wake of his clear ineptitude I wondered if Buhari had an understanding of these issues at all. Here is what is written in the APC manifesto: APC Government will commit itself to the continuous well-being of the inhabitants of the Niger Delta area, and take measures to address the long overlooked challenges of environmental devastation and mass poverty among the people whose land lays the golden egg. a) To mitigate the environmental degradation of the Niger – Delta areas, occasioned by oil exploration and gas flaring activities. b) To douse the tension in the Niger-Delta areas because of youth restiveness. c) To restore the confidence of the citizens from Niger-Delta areas in the oneness of the Nigerian nation. i) Development and implementation of a special environmental clean-up program for the Niger-Delta ii) Construct navigational bridges across big rivers and swampy lands to link isolated islands in the Niger-Delta areas with the rest of the country. iii) Embark on mass-literacy programs for the citizens of the Niger-Delta areas. iv) Gas flaring in the course of mineral oil mining activities shall be discontinued. v) Enunciate a policy to compel Oil/Gas companies to embark on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) schemes with definitive impact on the well-being of the Niger – Delta areas. vi) Special focus on the funding and operational efficiency of the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC) - See more at: http://apc.com.ng/index.php/about-apc/apc-manifesto#sthash.4jmdDvVk.dpuf My question is - does this resolve the issues at all? Is there more to be desired? I notice there is no mention of resource control or indication of self governance. What can be done to end the suffering of the Niger Delta people and how can we get this message to the future President? |
I don't really believe this is true - theyre are probably just ramping up propaganda because they are being slaughtered by the Nigerians and JTF Are the media simply assuming this because of the beheadings? If so it's incredibly irresponsible. |
it's unethical for a yoruba oba to engage in any type of political meeting, they can receive you and discuss the development of their subjects but anything beyond that is disrespectful to their positions as monarchs. As an Oba your integrity should never be in question, this is just an absolute shame. GEJ has managed to corrupt every atom and corner of culture and democracy benzion72:Exactly- they were actually warriors and were at the forefront in defence for the people. How it came to this is beyond me. |
eyeview:Ah well if it's all a lie I'm relieved to hear. There are no floods in the east, there are no villages, they all have water good jobs electricity solid income and none of them are poor. Very good. It explains the high rate of crime and death over there. Its a good, if you can deny it then we can too. |
eyeview:It explains why in the East, they are all drowning in floods everyday. Farms ravaged by spills, kidnapping everyday high level of crime and maternal death. Probably a ghost that is perpetually blessing you with an advance level of poverty and bigotry. Tinubu has done more for even you than you will ever imagine. |
I love that lagosians differentiate from party's. Jimi seems to have better personality - I don't think anyone can match Fasholas level of intelligence. But APC should have found a much better candidate |
I am soo glad you brought the comparison to Abacha - when last did we experience this level of impunity and deceit? Jonathans Government has demonstrated complete impunity and abuse of power How can Jonathans wife be assigning the commissioner for police and locking up the state house of assembly?? Look at what Fayose is doing in Ekiti, using police to support thugs, 7 individuals who couldnt even form a quorum impeaching a whole speaker and 19 members chased out of state? What on earth is going on?? Change couldnt come any sooner! |
what of Diamond Ring and Owo Blow? Ole Ku and Saworoide? your list is nonsense oooo |
Barcanista - listen to this. Turns out political officials whether APC or BDD had absolutely no say in the pardon. The pardon was potentially illegal and an impeachable offence. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfDHzCkJnIc |
ehn hen? So SA troops were available yet you no use am before? We are not stewpid! You will go back to Otuoke!! I'm just hoping they're not trying to relieve the Nigerian Army to then help with rigging. . . . . .that will be a problem! |
PassingShot:well, it happened in Ekiti - the numbers are atrocious. I am more than sure those that were accredited don't exist. (Not sure if they used the same system) since Ekiti is small they are probably easier to manipulate especially with the use of armed forces. They even tried the same in Osun and stepped up the game with the use of SS and masked operators?? I will probably only have confidence if helicopters were deployed to give us an aeriel view of the going on as it happens. |
My problem is that they can accredit, then chase them all away and leave their thugs to vote. If the number of accredited voters are less the vote isn't nullified. People should be able to vote immediately after accrediting. Why isnt it done that way? PVC doesn't resolve the use of intimidation to stop the opposition from voting. |
aguiyi:the unemployed should mobilize themselves with what? Hunger? After collecting the 200naira and still employing their brothers and sisters what will happen? |
CyberTerrorist:which court? The one that fayose invaded with thugs? |
troubleshooter:that photograph had me on the floooooooor!!! Hilarious! |
kennyjodeci:So the ones busy publicly praying for a known terrorist and criminal are the real priests? hmmm. . . . . . . . |
it probably went wrong because he is an ole buruku oju yobo. |
MrEverest:If i'm getting information from people that are living on ground is that not first hand enough? The main problem with Nigerians is that they don't even know the heinous crimes the government is perpetuating in their own territory. Jonathan himself had to be told of the Chibok Girls kidnapping by foreign agencies that aren't even based in Nigeria. How is that acceptable? Why do you accept that? Please tell me I need to know. I've spent most of my time studying the situation in Nigeria. Do you know what your own government is doing? Are you aware of what the government is up to? MrEverest:Nigeria is brewing a multitude of militants right now - under OBJ and Yaradua they represented a growing problem. Under Jonathan these groups have been given amnesty, they've grown arms legs and now they have wings. Boko Haram isn't even the first and if he wins a second term they won't be the last. He is not found wanting, his inaction is nothing short of callousness and ineptitude. The onset of militants in Nigeria is 1000% political, now let us look at the crux of the matter - who will benefit politically from sustained attacks, murder, kidnapping, intimidation, displacement and subsequent disenfranchisement of people in the North? Who is in charge of all the foreign currency in Nigeria? How is money getting to the militants? Please take your time to think about it, you will realize that Jonathans seemingly calculated efforts have only come to backfire because he is more stupid than he is smart. Buhari never made such comments, please show me a video of Buhari doing so. A US blockade of arms to Nigeria is because of the above points I mentioned. Such equipment will only end up in the arms of the militants. MrEverest:Do you really and truly believe this? If you do its a delusion. The people that live in Nigeria know what they experience, you are the largest economy in Africa with the highest number of poor and unemployed in Africa. Agriculture is not booming when you still have to import rice and vegetables, infrastructure is not improving when Nigerians are travelling to the likes of Ghana for education and medical treatments, industry output is not growing when most of the youths remain unemployed. You are counting pennies and calling it pounds! If the amount stolen from the Nigerian people was indeed invested Nigeria will have a more than solid economy. What you have now is a large unskilled workforce and an unfriendly business/political environment that isn't attracting the investment that Nigeria clearly needs. How have the largest construction companies in the world established themselves in every country but Nigeria? Please look at the situation closely and carefully. There is nothing miraculous about a few flyovers and bridges - do you know how much Akwa Ibom receives in allocation? I can replicate Akwa Iboms infrastructure of 10 years with half the amount received in 10 months! You need to shine your eyes well, the UAE does not produce a third of the oil Nigeria does - have you see it? Look at Singapore are they special? Look at Tokyo and China do they even produce oil at all? Please be realistic here and not sentimental. We are allowed to be partisan but don't deny what is glaringly obvious. |
I like Fayemi - I really want to know why he failed last election. I'm not sure rigging is the reason - if he really was the preferred choice Ekiti will have kicked back no? But I do understand his position as an elitist, I watched his campaign videos and he's clearly not connected with Ekiti people. He can't even speak the dialect, I'm sure he's no farmer and doesn't know the basics of the average Ekiti mans lifestyle. He is however clearly a very nice person with good ideas and even better character (whether he is also a bonafide criminal like the rest of them I'm yet to determine). @the topic - well it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. If we take a close look, Nigeria is in the same position it has been since the very first coup which called to attention the lawlessness of the state. Ekiti being a state that's behind it's counterparts both in age and development has shown us how far we haven't traveled towards civilization. Can one man hold a state to ransom? Defy the laws and legislature? Use policemen to disrupt the house? Murder his competitors? A man who hasn't even spent that much time in Ekiti prior to his election (similar to Abacha who is thought to be from Chad). We need to pay close attention to how this has happened. Ekiti is setting a very dangerous precedence in modern times and these activities need to be nipped in the bud. It's the support of the FG that he clearly has that's rattling my chains, and what Jonathan doesn't know is that it's Buharis turn today, it's his turn tomorrow. Religious and ethnic bigotry will only get you soo far, soon Fayose will want the powers other states have, he will want more money to feed the small army he's growing, he will begin to make demands, he will begin to engage in more heinous activities and before you know it you have a mafia growing in Ekiti. This is exactly how terrorists and notorious crime lords start out. |
lastpage:hold on - so can we send GEJ to international court? Then why havent we!! Ah how much does it cost? I am assuming all the corrupt politicians can be sent to international court for crimes against humanity. |
what i dont understand is how they sat down and decided that this is how much they should earn?? did they set their own salaries? On a serious level this is unacceptable. Not to mention the kickbacks they get from all their dodgy dealings. No this needs to change. This definitely needs to be revised. |
MrEverest:if I hear! I don't even live in Nigeria I am feeling the suffering of Jonathans reign! E don reach that level I'm not lying! Did you read where I mentioned that london underground is 100years old? Nigeria is behind! We are an oil producing country with one of the biggest reserves of oil! Nothing to show for it!!! Look at Dubai! Producing a fraction of the oil we produce! It's ridiculous! I look at Nigeria and I see its potential, the government are doing soo much damage and people don't even see it. Soon Congo will rise above them while they remain forging statistics to fool people. |
