Agreed, There is no freedom at all,
During Post commissioning handover meeting, While addressing and thanking the Indian Technical experts, the CEO of the Iranian Refining company asked the ACS (DCS) Engineer to stay in Iran and he was agreed to double the wages and benefit what he was getting in India by OEM.
We all were there and plant was already in full production with better then expected results so mood was very light and that Indian Engineer replied, Actually i am missing the beer i used to drink, i almost forget the taste of good wine and the way i used to spend weekend with my friends in pub and clubs. Its hard to adjust here, like suffocation.

they understood and replied, This freedom can only be available when America bombs us. (Tells us, even they all want to come out of misery)

jaxxy:
Why wud u expect Iran or Iranians to tell u they are the problem not Americahuh

Even the Iranians can’t publicly speak against its government without consequences so there is nothing like public polls, unless u mean censored public polls.

Some parts of India crosses 48 degrees.
There is no uniform weather in India, It is a subcontinent in itself, too too big.
In Northern Parts (Where i stayed during my study in India) In winters you can die freezing in snowfall while in summers you can die by heat.

Its expensive because you have to have Heating in Winter and Air conditioning in summer. Also Dehumidifier in rainy season.

Allwell96:
I don't think Kogi is the hottest state in Nigeria. By the way, no one says Corona Virus doesn't exist in hot zones. India sometimes goes up to 45°C, check out their rate of infection. I live in Kogi, we all need to be very careful by observing all the guidelines for safety as outlined by the NCDC.

Thousands of SIDDIS were captured by Arab Slave Traders from Tanzanian Coastline and Sold to western Indian Kingdom (Now Gujarat), But when Hindu Religious leaders instructed King that your kingdom will be erased by wrath of God if you keep them as slave.
Afraid of that, King immediately provided Freedom to all SIDDIS gave them some money and ask them to go to choose an area in his kingdom to settle down, Which they prefer near to Coastline. From that day they are living there.
99.9% of Indians dont even know about their existence, when i saw them first during my study time in India, i thought they are expects or came for medical treatment. i was amaged to know these Black people are now Indian citizens.

Mostly Women`s Family provides money. Not only Money s gift to start new life but Women`s family spent exorbitant amount of money on wedding.
During my study in India, Back in 2009 one of our batch mate (happening to be from Northern India) invited us to attend his brothers party.
I have seen a lot of weddings, receptions but that splash of money they were throwing on wedding was hard to believe. No doubt Indian weddings are most lavish and full of extravaganza, Both Man and Women`s families do that.
I would not spent a fraction of that money on my wedding, its utter madness.

Well its their culture you cant compare with us.

They are the only Blacks (Migrated from Africa thousands of years ago) that have and use their brain, what to accept and what should not.
They seems to be more intelligent who rejected any Religion.

BTW off topic, its not easy to reach them as Even Indian people and their navy is not allowed to visit and contact them.
They are purest genetics of Black Race. And to Protect them , Indian government introduced a special law in Constitution.
This island is too Far from Main Land India but very near to Indonesia.

Gartol:
Lol, I heard about these people last year, they live on an island in India. They don't trust outsiders and kill any intruder. There was a time a missionary went there to preach the gospel after several people warned him not to He was killed. They have been on that island for thousands of years according to history.

There was a time people wanted to force civilisation on them, many of such people were killed, some held captives and some were severely injured. This made the Indian government to make and move and ask its citizen to let them be. Infact if you visit the island you might be jailed.

P.S. there is no clear pictures of the sentinels as clear as what the OP uploaded, the above pictures are paintings or let me say CGI. If you go to YouTube sef the videos of them you will find are those captured from distance or aerial photographs

There is just no point of comparison man, No sane person can even think about it. India is energy surplus ie they produce more then what they need.
India generates 376 GW shocked shocked and i read they are going to tipple this output within 15 years, thats crazy
while Nigeria has mere not more then 8000MW (Only one city in India can consumes more then what total Nigeria can produce).

I agree with you when you said "Quality of Graduates"

sulaak:
Stupíd leaders with stupíd followers.

Instead of counting the number of tertiary institutions in India, why not count the amount of electricity that India generates, the numbers of working oil refineries and petrochemical plants, the numbers of steel plants and agro-processing factories.

India has the services, manufacturing and agriculture industries that can absorb the millions of graduate that they produce. Nigeria cannot even pay the salaries of the universities lecturers.

What matter is not the number of graduates, but the quality of graduates.

Whereas close to 2m candidates wrote this last jamb. More tertiary institutions doesn't stop Government from getting to the task of taking good care of the ones we had already. It's a fundamental right of every citizen to be educated.
The last time I checked, Indian has over three thousand tertiary institutions, how many do we have in Nigeria?

India has 5000 years of research? We don't?
You are ignorant and proud.
We have been practising variolation in Yoruba land for centuries. We have traditional medicine too.A lot.
How much of that research has ANYTHING to do with the manufacture of generic medicines name one generic medicine that is the result of 5000 year research

The reality is most generic medicines are no more complex to make than amphetamines and crack cocaine that criminals with little education make in FESTAC garages today

What is required is a plan and capital.

Nigeria is not in the same category how? That is just a vague and meaningless statement

What I said is we should plan for a 10 20 year horizon even if we don't make everything we need we would make progress WE have to start somewhere and we have already started
Some medicines are made in Nigeria and we should build on that not subscribe to inferiority complex in people like you

Then why we are not making them in this continent(Whatever reason), Until we make them its big deal? why our Health ministers have to request India to provide subsidize medicines? That means even they are big deal.

I am just fed up people giving examples of India and China. Please dont compare with them.
As world`s ancient civilizations both India and China were more rich, More Powerful, More Innovative , More Powerful then entire Europe.

Please dont compare apple to oranges. my point of above old references is that , We are not in same category, They have a mindset, an educational consciousness, always an objective. I studied there, i know how they approach, how they plan. We dont even have those thinking and concepts, maybe it will take few generations to grasp these thing.
If we can provide good schooling available to our public and good hospitals in next 30 years then we are successful.
This continent has very long journey to go brother.

Do not make it out to be something special.

Planning/Huge Capital/ Technical know How/ Human Resource, whatever the reason is, After 10 years go to market and Mark my word even then you will see Critical, special care medicines in the market All Imported, You will be saying same thing again.

Planning/Huge Capital/ Technical know How/ Human Resource ? We have none.

omonnakoda:
there are no generics we cannot manufacture within 10 years of strategising for supply chain and human capital
Once there is a plan we will get there. Start training chemists now set a 10 -20 year plan and we will get there.
Yes most drug can be made easily. We have never made any PLAN for that and that is why we don't.
If there is anything we should learn from coronavirus it is that we must have self sufficiency in strategic items like medicine and reagents

We should not proceed without a plan

On average, we can not dream of that life here in this continent in next 50 years.
I also got my university degree from India, lived in Gurugram.
India has largest middle class. Poverty exists but unlike here, Over there its going down rapidly day by day.
Also i sense some of them wants to remain poor to enjoy Social scheams benefits, They get monthly Rice, Wheat, Sugar almost free, Free electricity upto 200 units (in most states), Free water supply (upto 10k liters),
Healthcare is absolutely free and if you are poor you are insured. Education for kids are free. Government takes care of them but if you want everything free and you are Lazy then no one can uplift you.

"This also includes the pharmaceutical industry or sector... Most of the medications we import from India, and other nations can be easily produced here."

Being optimistic is okay, Milling rice good thing. But medications can be made easily? Really? like mixing two things, crushing and done?
If you are talking about Aspirins then yes, they are already being manufactured everywhere. Its huge diverse field and required massive investments, Know how and Industrial capabilities.

As you mentioned Medicines are being imported from India, There are Four broader grades of Companies over there.
Type 1: Ordinary Generics (In fact they have manufacturing plants here as well)
Type 2: Critical Generics (They are the one supplying life saving drugs for HIV, Malaria as extremely cheap prices because as per Directive of Indian government, they can not get profit from these medicines, India providing this by subsidies. We should thank them as millions in this continent will die if not from their generosity)
Type 3: Specialty Drugs, Vaccines required very high end technology and Billions of USD to make setup)
Type 4: Cancer, Stan, Respiratory medicines, Anti Venom, Rabies and R&Dev trail drugs. (Same high end investments and Very strict standars)

USA is the biggest importer of Type 3 and 4 medicines from India followed by France, Switzerland, Canada and eastern eu block.
Dont have false hopes for manufacturing as USA, France, Canada also relies on India.

Also you need API for even simple medicines (As there are few Indian Multinationals already making in Lagos), they imports APIs from india or China, Only India and China makes the APIs (thy also trade among themselves for economic factors).

Let us focus on simple things like Food and daily care.

Angelfrost:
Great news... We need more of such industries across the nation producing things we waste funds importing yearly.

Industrialization remains the way forward, and a key part of economic diversification.

Btw dont compare us with anyone , we are most unproductive people of this planet, we just develops corrupt politicians and greed.

Evanspaul:
In 1997, a brilliant Igbo Electrical Engineer and Lecturer at the Federal polytechnic Nekede, Dr. Ezekiel Izuogu designed and developed the Izuogu Z-600, the first African indigenous manufactured car.
The car was described by the BBC as ‘ the African dream machine as 90% of its parts were sourced locally. At a projected sales cost of 2000 dollars, it would have taken the world by storm and become the cheapest and most affordable car on earth. With mass production planned under Izogu Motors plant in Naze owerri, the prospects of an industrial revolution in Igbo land and Nigeria, was in the making.
The car was equipped with a self made 1.8L four cylinder engine that got 18mpg and allowed the car to achieve a top speed of 140 km/h. Front Wheel Drive (FWD) was chosen over Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) because a transmission tunnel, which RWD would require, would be more expensive to fabricate.
So 90% of the car’s components were made locally. General Sani Abacha set up a 12 man panel of inquiry made up of professionals to ascertain the road worthiness and authenticity of the car and after several days of probing, the committee gave Dr. Izuogu’s car a clean bill of health, recommending that some of the bumps on the body of the car be smoothened. It is worthy to note that this was five years before India built their first car known as the Indi.
At a well organized unveiling ceremony which had General Abacha represented by Oladipo Diya, over 20 foreign ambassadors and thousands of people in attendance, the federal government promised a grant of 235 million naira to Dr. Izuogu.
An excited Dr. Izuogu is still waiting for that grant till today. No dime was released to him. In 2006, the government of South Africa invited Dr. Izuogu to do a presentation about the car in the presence of several world class engineers. Being impressed with his presentation, they invited him to come and set up a plant in South Africa and begin the production of the car.
Dr. Izuogu reluctantly agreed, though he wasn’t happy that the benefits of employment generation will be lost on the locals of Naze and the Nigerian human resources environment. On Saturday, the 11th of March 2006, at about 2.00 a.m, a total of about 12 heavily armed men broke into Dr. Izogu’s factory in Naze and carted away various machines and tools including the design history notebook of Z-600, the design file Z-MASS, containing the design history for mass production of Z-600 car, and the moulds for various parts of the car.
According to Dr. Izuogu:
“It seems that the target of this robbery is to stop the efforts we are making to mass-produce the first ever locally made car in Africa. Other items stolen included locally produced timing wheel, locally produced camshaft, locally produced crankshaft, locally produced engine tappets, all 20 pieces each
Also stolen were ten pieces of locally produced Z-600 engine blocks, ten pieces of locally produced pistons, four pieces of engine block mounds, four pieces of top engine block moulds, ten pieces of engine fly wheel and two pieces each of rear car and front mudguard moulds.”The inventor regretted that not only did they lose over one N1 billion in monetary terms, but also time (about 10 years) and the energy it took to design and produce the moulds. “To worsen the matter, our design notebook was also stolen,” he stated.
He regarded the incident as a national economic disaster because the nation had lost a technological and intellectual property. This Press was quiet about this story. The set back and governments attitude frustrated Izuogu and his dream died.
