QuotaSystem: I would be ashamed to admit people I claim to be better and smarter than have continued to outsmart & politically dominate me for over 50 years and counting.
It would be an insult to my intelligence.
Outsmart? Is that what you call a teeming mob comprised of illiterates. Unfortunately numbers and brute force trumps intelligence.
But despite that, it's your people that suffer and your people that will continue to suffer in the years to come.
It says March 2018 on it, which was 2 and a half years ago, and it doesn't show how the data was compiled. In fact, there's no evidence of the report, anywhere on the internet.
SIONKPO1: You self wants to wrestle your muscle? OK If your so called town and state is as good as you claim, why not encourage your people let them stay in their beautiful London(Owerri) Let me tell never bite the fingers that fed you,and never insult your hospitable hosts
No one is in Akwa Ibom, Lagos is the ONLY multiethnic state, every other state in Nigeria is 95% indigenous.
You claim Akwa Ibom is so wonderful and Igboland is hell, well, SEEING IS BELIEVING.
simeotexy: ..u guys bring hate upon urselves...imagine i was walking with an igbo guy..we were just talking..i dont know wat made him to say that..he just told me .do u know akwa ibom people are stupid and senseless people..i was so angry and asked him y he said that he gave no concrete reason...i wanted him to be beaten that day but i discovered he didnot even attend secondary school that i will bring myself so low to palm wine talkative..u people are just chest beaters...one guy said igbos own storey building in akwa ibom while i hve like 4 igbo tenants.dey cant even keep their sorroundings tidy..to pay rent na war...i hope fellow akwa ibomites see the hate igbos have for us after they will want us to join biafra GODFORBID
No Igbo man wants to form a country with Akwa Ibom people. That's Kanu's vision, not ours.
SIONKPO1: Igbo's have bad character *They are claiming they developed Lagos,Port Harcourt,Abuja *They insults their hosts and call them as been lazy *They insults Nigeria by calling it a zoo *They hardly sell property to non Igbo's in their side *They claim they are the ones that own plazas in abuja, uyo, calabar,pH,maraba
Anyone can make claims, the only reason why you're so aggrieved is because, you think it's true.
Hunchogee: But he insulted my state and my people. Ooh you didn't read that part right??
He said Akwa Ibom is poor - there's nothing wrong with being poor. But your buddy had to respond by referring to us all as criminals, then advocating genocide against us (ethnic cleansing). You think that's an equally weighted response?
Hunchogee: That's why I said some igbos.. They guy can fvck to hell
My point is, no Igbo man is jealous of Akwa Ibom people, and you know that. Just address him, and leave it at that. His words have nothing to do with his ethnicity.
Hunchogee: You've said it all, they jealousy from some igbos against Akwa-Ibom people are the reason we rejected that thier online country (biafrand)
Akwa Ibom people have nothing we (Igbos) want. So we can't be jealous of you. The guy made a comment, address his comment, he's just ONE PERSON, he's not 30+ million Igbo people.
If you restructure from now till eternity Abia State people would keep voting for clowns to loot them dry
Funny how a region which failed woefully at Governing themselves, that ranked low in GDP, IGR, FDI, Employment rate, ranks high in poverty rate ... Expect anybody to vote for their clownish politicians
.
If you feel Igbo people are a drag on Nigeria, then you must be an advocate of Biafra...yes? Only makes sense. Imagine how wonderful Nigeria would be without Igbo people.
IkwerrePikin: If all region country it’s resources, what will the South East use to pay salaries and execute projects??
Is it tax from Onitsha and Aba market or the 60,000 barrels of crude oil in Imo and Abia?
South East has a private sector led economy. That's why it has more infrastructure projects going on within it, than anywhere else, despite having limited funds, relative to other oil rich states.
Goodmarlian: It's simple, I have studied the whole Nigerian mentality from youths and the elderly.unlike the whites, Africans are not patriotic or love their countries from the leaders down to the ordinary man , putting their countries in the world map doesn't interest the average African man. an average Nigerian is what I call an 'idividualist' he doesn't give a hoot, his country can burn to ashes for all he cares as long as he has all he need a in life..money, money ,money and they don't see anything wrong with it so its never going to change . Am so sorry to say this Africa might be colonised again..
The difference is, Nigeria wasn't created by any of the people that live in it. White people live in nations they created, through their own sweat and blood. Nigeria is unnatural, if it weren't for European incursion, it would NEVER have existed.
If Nigeria split across natural lines, then you'd see patriotism and nationalism. People need to feel that the nation they exist in, represents them as a people. Most Nigerians do not. They feel a sense of detachment from the country, which is why they can run the country down, without feeling any shame. They don't believe the state of Nigeria is a reflection of them. Whereas Germans feel the state of Germany is a reflection of them. If Yorubaland became a nation, you'd witness the same sense of nationalism in that nation, as you do in France.
The only thing keeping Nigeria together, is jealousy and self-centredness.
Area4Area: The support for IPOB/Biafra is less than you guys think, IPOB has a mouthpiece (Radio Biafra) and of course they don't fail at insulting if you disagree, the rhetorics is changing now because more Igbos are getting vocal and assertive about their disdain for IPOB.
@ the bolded, they needed to go begging the northern youths because they realized that those pushing the entire Igbo race into jeopardy have nothing to their names and have nothing to lose unlike them. At a point Kanu was asked about the threat to the Igbos in the north and all he could say was that they should all return back to the East, just imagine that. Igbos in the north had to go begging for their lives and properties biko.
A lie told a thousand times, is still just a lie.
If what you were saying had any semblance of truth to it, then you wouldn't need to say it. As it would be patently obvious.
The mere fact that Igbo people are at risk of losing their lives and property in their own country, tells you all you need to know. An Igbo man is safer investing in Gabon, than he is in parts of his own country - and you're here trying to present this flawed argument that we prefer Nigeria over our own sovereignty.
B3ACHSIDE: This is a rough sketch I created under 20 minutes , it can be better.
The Igbo land is the same size as Los Angeles or Tokyo. Build only one world class Airport which serves the entire area, instead of too many nonviable international airports. All districts can have airstrip ,but only one world class Airport should serve the entire area. The method of everyone doing their own thing , instead of uniting , is detrimental. It is better to unite and do great things than in small quantity. Anambra and Ebony states are currently building international airports despite being a few minutes away from Asaba Airport and Enugu Airport. Did these Governors sit down with one another to discuss urban planning for the region? I guess not , they are all just doing their own thing . I think the governors should collaborate more for the benefit of the entire land . With one world class airport it's easier to lobby the government for a few International flights and perhaps 5 foreign embassies to Igbo land . Lagos Airport serves the entire south west and no other states in the south west are building international airports . Kano International Airport serves it's region and receives a few international flights.
Having too many states in such a small landmass signifies disunity.Even so ,more states are still being agitated for . Only districts should be created , not news states. Good urban planning cuts distances short . This applies to most of the southern ethnic groups as well, but this thread is about igbo land.
Considering you're from Cross River State, shouldn't your proposal be targeted there? And you're wrong, Igboland is 20x larger than Tokyo.
IamWonderful: Empty your cup of premeditated judgement or probably you are short of extensive comprehension, remember I use the conditional statement "if" that is the product of an outcome if the input is true, I didn't say 80% doesn't support Biafra, I said "if" 50% support Biafra, it will have been a reality, and the claim of 80% seems vague and refutable because of the input doesn't commensurate with desired output, igbo leaders should have come out plainly when the golden opportunity was presented to them by the northern youths, but instead of igbos cutting all ties with Nigerians they went around begging northern leaders like slaves.
Those Northern Nigerians reneged on their initiate statement, after the month lapsed. That was their decision. They don't have any leverage, nor do they have anything to offer Igbo people, so it makes no sense for them to threaten us. Stealing or destroying Igbo businesses in their land, will hurt them, more than it does us.
Succession is illegal under the constitution of Nigeria. The reality is, that Nigeria is a fascist state. Dissension is frowned upon and illegalised. Thus, any Igbo person that comes out and openly supports Biafra, runs the risk of persecution. That's what's keeping Nigeria together, not this fairytale that Igbo people actually want to remain in Nigeria.
No one cares about Nigeria, no one cares about the territorial integrity of Nigeria. The only thing Nigerians care about is their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of their people (ethnic group). Igbo people leaving Nigeria, would adversely affect everyone, Yoruba, Hausa and Fulani alike, whether we leave with the oil or not. That's why IPOB is unable to garner support from any of these groups.
Now, if Northern Nigeria wanted to leave Nigeria, it could do so, within a matter of months. Because, unlike with Biafra, most Nigerians feel they would be better off without the Northern region.
cjrane: The ONLY reason an Igbo will not support Biafra is because of the hoodlum behavior of Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB.
Imagine a Biafra where elderly citizens are flogged on the streets for merely holding a contrary opinion on any issue?
Nnamdi Kanu's arrogance and total disrespect for any contrary opinion other than his own is the BIGGEST OBSTACLE TO BIAFRA.
Well, so called elders are flogged on the streets of Europe, but you all want to run there to live. If you're leaders are not accountable to the masses, then they'll do whatever they want. Which in many instances isn't in the interest of the people.
FrLukas: I wonder how you guys go through life thinking that contrary opinions are a sign of antagonism?
Anyway, like you said it's an Igbo thread, I'd better take myself off before I attract insults.
I don't, providing there's a counter-offer on the table. The so-called solution he proffered was to abandon our kinfolk and become clannish, in a thread about the unity and overall development of Igboland. Sounds counterproductive to me, almost destructive.
JastSiryin: When do they wanna complete this one now? What happened to developing the inner cities? This is most likely going to end up an elephant project since our government can't resist the urge to loot. I don't know why we like to ignore the expedient for wasteful projects. And the masses sure love to get their hopes up.
It's a private project, nothing to do with the government.
B3ACHSIDE: Ever since I've been on this forum I always read people's comments bragging about having large population or being more industrious or educated or more developed than another group. I think it's pointless bragging about these things. Norway population is 5 million, Poland is 37 million. Poland is not better than Norway . They have different personalities ,no big deal. Why do Africans love bragging about having large population or more developed or more industrious or more this and that or thinking they are better than one another ,etc? That is why Nigeria and Africa is a shithole.
You said ,in my perception in a sort of bragging manner "Igbo land has population of 35 million and can stand as a country" . I say whether igboland has population of 1 million or 100 million it's an ethnic nation and can still be a country.
You said,in my perception in a sort of bragging manner " Igbos built igbo land without any help " I say Igboland receives allocation from Nigerian government just like other ethnic group , but the politicians are corrupt.
And finally , all of these shows of unity are only a facade because i have observed that none of the ethnic groups are truly united . there's simply no unity of purpose, whether governmental or private . I gave examples. Just like I now focus on only Calabar and cross river instead of a baseless Akwacross, I advised you to focus on your clan or state instead of igboland because Igboland like other ethnic groups in Nigeria are not united . There'll never be Igbo republic or akwacross republic or Oduduwa repub;ic or Arewa republic.
Norway is also oil rich, a part of the biggest economic union on planet earth and has wealthy, innovative and capable neighbours (Western Europe). So it's not a fair comparison. Africa on the other hand, is largely backwards, lacking the inherent benefits a Greece may have in Europe, despite having terrible leadership. And Africa is poor, because Europe made it so. Not because of the actions or mentality of Africa. To think or feel otherwise is undignified - you're just beating yourself up for no reason.
Yea, a country with 1 million people can be a country, but when he mentioned the population figure, he was obviously referring to viability. I don't think he was bragging, when he made that comment, mainly because he was speaking primarily to Igbo people when he made it. That would be illogical. You only interpreted that way, because you come from a smaller ethnic group, which made you feel aggrieved. But this isn't about you. It's not about uniting with your people, creating cities for your people, or forming a nation with your people. It's about the future development of Igboland.
Over the past 20 years, but Nigeria has been around for 60 years. During which, much of Nigeria's wealth and resources has been pumped into the North and SW (Lagos primarily). Of all the regions, SE has the least federal presence, whereas policies within the nation, have all been designed to create a level playing field between Igbo people and everyone else, so in essence, they've stifled our progress. That's what's meant by that statement.
As I said before, you're not an Igbo person, so you're in no position to tell us whether or not we're united. That's our job to make that determination. In my estimation, Igbo people are very much united, in fact, I think all the ethnic groups are pretty much united. I don't see any disunity, amongst the largest ethnic groups. And you're conclusion that we should become clannish and abandon our ethnic kinfolk, reeks of bad-mind.
B3ACHSIDE: 1. Igbo is an ethnic nation just like other ethnic nations , whether with population of 1 million or 100 million. Nigeria is a colonial merger of these ethnic nations. You don't need large population to build a lawful and organized society. We now have machinery and technology to do all the work. In fact, efforts should be made towards population reduction and management, not explosion. For example , Norway is half the size of Nigeria ,yet has a population of 5 million and is a developed nation. Ukraine with population of 41 Million is not better than Norway.
2 . Igbo land receives allocation from the Nigerian federation just like other ethnic groups , the politicians receive funds to develop the land and do all the stuffs you have outlined above , but they are corrupt . Igbo ethnic group just like most of the other ethnic groups in Nigeria are not united . If they were united and in unison , there wont be so many agitations for state creations and non unity of purpose . For example ,Anambra is building airport , Ebonyi is building airport yet there are airports at Imo state ,Enugu and Delta state just a stone throw away, this signifies disunity of purpose . There should be only one world class airport which serves Igboland which is same size as Los Angeles. same for other ethnic groups . There should not be more than 15 states . There will never be 36 thriving international airports in Nigeria. even so,when more states are created more international airports would likely be built by those states - simply makes no sense . it's waste of funds and absolute foolishness. Nigeria will never develop with these methods. Because of the disunity outlined above , your idea may not be agreed by others of your ethnic group . My advise is to implement your plans for your clan or state because it's obvious none of these ethnic groups are united, and any public showcase of unity is only an illusion. There are many more reasons why i'm afraid Nigeria and Africa might be shithole for a long time .
How do you know whether or not we're united if you're not Igbo? And this is a Igbo initiative, all I read from you is discouragement, no solution(s).
Ilaumoh: So those workers in the companies are from the moon ... An its services companies are occupied by alliens ...you need industrial attachment ASAP in an Oil company
How many people do these oil companies employ? Compare that to the multitude of self-employed individuals. As I've said on countless occasions, no nation has ever developed through FDI. If you want your misery to end, you're going to have to work. Start your own businesses, start small and grow. Sir Alan Sugar used to sell products on the street corner, today he's worth over £1 billion pounds. You, demeaning grassroots development, shows you have no idea of how nations develop.
LukasPodolski: Picture 1 : showing the preferred destination for NIGERIAN students, all the candidates choose SW universities (plus Uniilorin which is geographically and culturally a Western state)
Picture 2 : Showing the the poverty index in the 36 states of the federation, SW states are in good standing actually the best.. how can a reasonable person say poverty was the cause of the sudden increase in SW population when SW have the best literacy rate)
Picture 3 : showing the region hosting majority of non-indigenous/indigenous people, the population of yorubas is slightly above Igbos I think 39million against 35 million despite the huge difference in land mass, this shows that Yorubas have moderate birth rate, igboland land mass is too small to have that population, does that not tell you igbos are even worse in child birth... I don't have time for dead brain abeg, okay Anambra, Ebonyi are the refugee camp of NIGERIA, 20 million lives in Ebonyi while 40 million non indeginous people lives in Abia if that's what you wanna hear.
We all know Germany, France, United States have nothing on igboland, igboland is the definition of development. Miles ahead of UK, China, Sweden Which kind empty brain be this nah.
Can you see the difference, while I back up my points with facts you on the other hand keep talking trash.
So are these people expats or is this real migration, as you originally described. If people are moving to Ogun State, and have been doing so, for many years now, it seems logical, that they would vote in the state they currently reside in.
No need to attack my persons, just refute my arguments. Your conclusion on 6 million voters is flawed. Again, there are several factors to take into consideration. One, Nigeria has one of the youngest populations on the planet. Which means, many of those Lagosians are not of legal voting age, two, corruption and bad governance are recipes for voters apathy.
We all know that Lagos has a fairly substantial Igbo voting block = A voting block of Igbo people that vote IN Lagos.
Ermm, no. Picture one, is a list of the top 10 UTME students for the year 2020. There's no correlation between that, and students preferred destination. That picture only lists 10 students. I think you'd need a much larger sample size than that, to come to your conclusion.
In fact, none of your pictures, describe, provide evidence or buttress any of your whimsical points. Igbo land has a higher population density than Yorubaland, that's correct. However, your conclusion is not. Higher population density is usually indicative of development. Western Europe is proportionally the most populated region on planet earth. Igboland is more developed than Yorubaland, that's why there's more people living there, per square mile.
Right, no need for the strawman - it's not going to make your argument(s) anymore valid.
LukasPodolski: Oga, population growth in Ogun state is as a result of mass migration, I've given you enough logical points.
You say, voting strength remains the same. I say, is there a law barring non-indigenous from voting in the state?
You'll find SS and SE students in universities scattered all over the country. The average university takes anywhere from 20k to 40k students, SS, North and SE students may take up anywhere from 10% - 30% of the slots in Ogun state, which would put the number at 10K - 60K students; that still doesn't account for the millions added to the state population.
Well, one is much larger, in terms of landmass, and Lagos has a large multiethnic population, whereas Ogun State is 99% Yoruba, so there are massive differences.
How can Ogun State go from 3.7 million to 8+ million in 16 years? Is that the question you're asking? Have you seen the Ogun urban sprawl?
Close proximity to Lagos is the ONLY part of it.
Lagos, the former federal capital territory is developed somewhat, but Ogun and Oyo are many things, but definitely not developed. Unless you call large slum settlements development? The fact is, the populations of those regions are large, as a result of the poverty. Which is visible for all to see, except the intentionally blind. Is it outrageous to believe that Ibadan has a high fertility rate?
Ogun's so called HDI, is what's called a pie in the sky, much like Nigeria's fight against corruption. Unless you can show me something to prove Ogun's high development. Because I've seen every inch of that state, and it is NOT developed. It's highly populated, but definitely not developed.
Blackking98: Mend was for our resources and resource control. What is Boko Haram for? Did we slaughter citizens and soldiers for fun like Boko Haram is currently doing? Never you in your unfortunate existence compare mend with Boko Haram.
MEND was the result of underdeveloped, mass poverty and unemployment. If people within the region had all the basics. Access to healthcare, a job, with a disposable income, a home, car and other amenities, then they never would have taken to the bush, to start blowing up oil installations.
The bombings was only one aspect of it, the other was extortion, in the form of kidnapping. So it obviously wasn't exclusively or solely about resource control. Resource control just provided the militants with the perfect crutch to do whatever it is they were doing. It wasn't until these groups were settled financially, that they gave up the fight.
It doesn't matter what Boko Haram are about, all that matters is that they exist. Their existence is the result of mass poverty. Insurency, militancies, uprisings are all symptoms of extreme poverty.
Blackking98: Lowest level of development? If Rivers or Akwa ibom is lowest develop, where do u place osun or zamfara or ekiti or kebbi? You're not ok honestly.
I said "AMONGST"; didn't MEND (along with those other insurgency groups) operate out of those Niger Delta states? Insurgency is a great indication of extreme poverty. Just as you had/have in the North East.
Blackking98: Oga I'm not looking at only GDP. In GDP Per capita We were in the top three In security Akwa Ibom is the safest in the SS. In cleanliness Akwa Ibom is the cleanest in the whole country. Busi you viability we're there. Below is proof. Like I said give commendation when it is due and stop being a critique in every opportunity you have in life.
How do you even measure something like cleanliness? It's such a fluid situation. That said, I don't think there's much correlation between the two; wealth and cleanliness. SS is a pretty dangerous region, so that's not saying much, is it?
No, I've been raised to always take the pragmatic approach - to just about everything. What's the point in gloating at something that doesn't in any way, enhance your life. It's just a number, that doesn't reflect, in any way, on the living standards of the people within the state.
Blackking98: Then why say because oil producing states are top it means something else. That's double standard
It's not a double standard. The oil producing states are at the top, despite having amongst the lowest level of development in the nation, because oil still accounts for a considerable amount of the Nigerian economy. All the services, industries and agriculture produce in the country, is still minicue when compared to oil revenue.
