They said power is not given but taken, that easterners had wanted power on a plate while folks from other regions fought for it and 'built bridges'. Now that someone from the east is venturing into the power game and reaching out to other regions, yet another excuse is made by the 'owners of Nigeria and their lackeys. I think things are beginning to emerge, that there is something fundamentally wrong with this country. |
What next.... washing machines and yam pounders.... ![]() |
Subsea101:The shortest route from Portharcourt to Umuahia is a Federal Highway, on which this bridge stands and lately State goverments have been warned to stay action on any maintenance, not that the Abia State government can even try. The Federal Government owns all highways and interstates in Nigeria. |
They are all doing this out of sectional and tribal sentiments. But the fact is, there is no way the APC should win next year's election. If we made progress in 2015 by voting out a non performing PDP government we will have regressed by voting back a worse performing APC government and legitimised failure in governance, simple. |
Babyface33:Indeed. The great start lured the management into a false sense of security. The squad is wafer thin, if you count out the average players. |
Okay, I hope Arsenal fans will allow us hear word. They have faced a real team with a winning pedigree and have come up short due to typical 'Arsenalistic' tendencies..... a weak spine. They just cannot buy and run well down the middle whether attacking midfield, central midfield, defensive midfield of central defence. Odegaard was just out of it today, Lokonga is an ordinary player, Granit too and I thought Gabriel will be offloaded after his poor showing last season. Apparently Edu must be suffering the Nigerian disease called nepotism. Harsh, but defences win trophies and titles, Arsenal's is still not championship worthy. |
Chai Arsenal..... defensively naive. Full backs standing parallel at the centre line and passing tiki-taka here and there knowing not that one of those passes can be intercepted and ....boom.... top four is lost. The Gunners should know that they will not out pass every team. |
Hey, hey wetin be de shout as I dey watch Berretini for USOpen. |
Ekaka1:Goal United. You can see what I am saying. The top of the Arsenal midfield which is the first line of defence is missing. |
Ekaka1:I don't think his injury has healed completely. |
Ekaka1:They are not bossing the midfield, they are bypassing it with Odegaard totally missing. |
Odegaard is not fit. |
OkCornel:We really want to know if the Tinubu campaign identifies with the Buhari administration or not because if they admit they put him there they cannot absolve themselves of the consequences of that action on Nigeria. I think pandering to sentiments in the north is a double edged sword that will hurt in other parts where the ruling party is criticised for the suffering in the land. Someone must be responsible for the mess we find ourselves today. If Mr Buhari is going to spend his entire tenure blaming the past PDP led government, who exactly is a future Tinubu government going to blame for the misery today. In a functional, working democracy Mr. Buhari's government should be a liability to the Tinubu campaign just as Boris Johnson will hurt the Conservatives next election or as most Republican candidates distance themselves from Trump as midterm elections approach. |
So what happens to all the funds budgeted and appropriated for their salaries since February.... Will it not be stolen or laundered through the never ending 'second Niger bridge.... Lagos-Ibadan expressway.... Kano-Kaduna expressway'.... So it is equally in the interest of elements in the government to ignore solutions. Government loses nothing so they are not committed to solving anything. But still the people that suffer the consequences, both their parents and their wards will still queue to bring back this government come next year. That is the real tragedy. |
As 'party leader' why can't you share even a tidbit of this competency with your principal in Aso Rock, in the countless meetings you had over the past 7 years. Sorry but some of us are sane upstairs and we know when it is there or isn't. You have not made a single positive, incisive suggestion towards better governance in all this time and if you get there it will be the same thing. We will have wait while you think out solutions and wait further while you scamper around for people to execute them. Sorry to say but this country is no longer fit for experimentation. It is critically ill and needs true and ready competence. There should be a penalty for failure in governance if not bad governance will continue perpetually. The minimum reentry of your party into governance should be 2027, enough time for you guys to think deep and hard about what transpired over the course of 8 unsuccessful years in power. That is the way democracy works for development anywhere in the world. Dirty clothes are set aside for a wash and fresh apparel used instead. |
Lollittaa:Ow c'mon be thoughtful. You wear shoes to protect your feet. And the function of the feet is limited whereas the hands and by extension the fingers perform far more activities, that are limited by the fixing of those things that are high maintenance leading to the threat of infection. You can imagine if the lady in question is a medical practitioner or works in F&B. Just unfortunate. You simply cannot wear those things and maintain utmost hygiene and the longer they are in place the worse the situation gets. |

Jking20:Mister, it is far better to live in a country where prosperity is banned than to live in one where prosperity is permitted but unattainable. If you are tortured, blind folded, chained to the prison floor and left to starve and die, I tell you, you may accept your fate, but if a plate of food and a bottle of water is brought in and the blind fold is removed, you will be prepared to sell your soul. Don't make excuses for the evil men in these parts do anywhere in the name of leadership whether there, here or anywhere. Thousands needlessly die every year in this country too. |
MatrixReloaded:Yet the leading candidates are falling over themselves to get a piece of him because they know how politics work. The citizens love the drama and care less about reality. |
vb0mb:That is the difference between truth and politics. Lately other politicians have been called out about facts v spin. This is just another case. Politicians lie a lot. That is why democracy is not all about what they say but what they do. The former is what ignorant citizens put their hopes on and will always be disappointed, the latter is what informed citizens work towards by advocacy. In practical terms, that Tinubu has raised revenue profile in Lagos does not translate to it happening in Nigeria unless Nigerians work it out for him. That Peter Obi will be fiscally disciplined as he was in Anambra does not mean it will happen in Nigeria if Nigerians will not team up with him to resist the establishment which is traditionally known to be profligate. We should all understand how democracy works. And by the way, biggest economy does not in anyway translate to any tangible benefits if the average Lagosian is not better off than citizens of other States. And I have not seen this in basic indices of living because the structure of the country does not permit independent economies. |
Of course there is spin everywhere in politics. For one I know that of revenue is not true because I knew that private sector led revenue drives aka tax consultancies started during the dying embers of the Babangida years and really took off during the Abacha years when government allocations nose dived on account of low oil prices and international sanctions. And by the time democracy emerged most states including Lagos had viable private sector led revenue streams. No doubt the Tinubu led government and others have successfully widened the tax base but Lagos was earning close to 4 billion when he assumed power in 1999 and took over the consultancies through his proxy company Alpha-Beta. |
TCD:No one is giving examples... like who, like what adverts? |
Just build a 'flyover' your problems. |
It is now they realize that wandering cattle are vulnerable to crime. What they have kicked against by constituted authorities, the bandits have made them comply with. Nigerians only learn the ultra hard way. |
Tareq1105:Indeed, businesses do adapt to headwinds all over the world, over time. The first thing they could do is to form co-operatives and auction of those bikes (to states without bans) to raise capital to scale up to tricycles and even those miniature buses. |
I think a better option throughout Nigeria will be for the Federal government to immediately put an end to the importation of new motorcycles including complete units, CKD's and spare parts. Within time the business will die off but not before the stakeholders, that is transporters, vendors and artisans (mechanics/spare parts) have found alternative businesses. |
Penguin2:Sounds like Namadi Sambo to the GEJ campaign in 2015. It is like this election will be purely about tribe and religion with everyone voting for his/her sensibilities. |
lordprogress:Really... heard this for the first time. I thought it is the drugs that causes the hair loss, not the other way round. |
Oh dear. So sorry for him. Wish him a full recovery. |
OBTMOS:I hear you. Heavy penalties should be set up. |
etokhana:Hmmm.... they have started early with money politics after weaponizing poverty. Giving alms instead of driving a culture of accountability in government and promoting simple tools of insurance so that the people simply cannot be bribed. |
AntonVince:Hmmm.... so it is now daylight for you folks. That is what I was saying weeks back. That Wike is only after power and only the PDP presented that clear path. How could he be working for a southern candidate when he himself is from the south and cannot possibly succeed either a Tinubu or an Obi presidency. He wants to regain traction within the party and is using the gravitational power of the others to slingshot himself back into the secretariat and the party's power base. All these could have been settled at the airport on their way out and saved the taxpayer a lot of money. |
