GAZZUZZ:Spot on. |
I see a lot of people aghast at the potential re-election of a Representative for a record term and the support his constituency is prepared to give him. Both sides have genuine arguments, both sides are right and both sides are also ignorantly wrong. A Representative Constitutionally has an unlimited potential to serve and in democracy stability is key to development but not for the mundane reasons of streetlights and roads, but to project the needs of the Constituents to the centre where the fundamental indices of quality life matters. What a Representative does is to pull power from the centre to positively influence the lives of his people. This almost all members of the House and Senate have woefully failed in doing. I do not think there is a single citizen or group of citizens in Nigeria that can stand and boldly say that his life is better than those of his neighboring constituency because his Representative has made it so. Nigerians throughout the country are more or less equally subject to the misrule at the centre without any sort of local reprieve. |
Wonder how much it costs. Will like to get one but a better looking chop. |
ybalogs:Told you that the average PVC is as useless as minted coins in Nigeria..... legal tender but has absolutely no value whatsoever. |
Nigerialabalaba:Vote your own. We have seen where it has taken Nigeria. Your choice will be a reflection of your intellect. Nigeria presently is getting the leadership is wants. |
Nigerialabalaba:Look, you folks just leave the man alone. The establishment doesn't want him, chronic racists who cannot see beyond their hamlets do not want him, corruption doesn't want him. He has left and is still hounded. Choose and follow your own. We have seen where it has taken Nigeria this far and we fully understand why the country is 'fast progressing'. |
djon78:Wish he could but Rivers politics is presently a jungle where only wild animals dare. |
Banbanna:Sandy is a unisex name. |
Niorte:This is just self delusion. The establishment will win the next elections and the elections after that and after that and the country will continue to sink into the mire till the generation of today has perished from the earth. Without restructuring Nigeria CANNOT develop, simple. There is no leader in this world that can drag a horse to the stream to drink. When the horse is thirsty it will approve. You can bookmark this. |
9japride:Can you see why restructuring is more important than elections and democracy itself. In the present state of Nigeria, it is a waste of time getting a PVC thoughtless of voting. 23 years of democracy, six general elections and absolutely nothing to show for it.... but a country several leagues behind from where it all started in every index of life and living. Obi has simply seen the light.... the things we have been saying for decades. |
Maxymilliano:How many times will I tell you folks that the structure of Nigeria will consistently give us the worst possible leaders at any point in the election cycle. Until Nigeria restructures it will remain toxic to quality leadership and barren to men and women of goodwill towards leadership of this country. And the reason is simple. We as a people have not collectively agreed on what we want, what defines good quality and how to get quality leadership to work for our good. The process of settling around collective values is called restructuring. And until this is done elections will have no positive impact on development. We have just been wasting our time since 1999. Many elections but all indices of life and living remain worse than 23 years ago. |
New007:Saw someone on the streets of Abuja with it on Monday and folks were just comforting him but remained unwary..... scary stuff.... seriously disfiguring.... |
Good deeds.... very good deeds.... but.... and a great BUT..... Nothing can ever substitute for life. As citizens of this country, we just cannot continue to live like this... in a vicious, unjust society and always try to paper the cracks with material things. Let us embrace humanity and learn to love one another as human beings. |
The question every young man and woman growing into adulthood will have to answer. And over time I have come to discover that there are no answers set in stone because life varies in time and space, so there will never be a better choice over any extended period of time and over ever opportunity and location where one will find himself. Makes me come to the conclusion that wisdom is somewhere in between and it comes in the form of: contract catering. Home made cooking but with the advantage of a personal touch but with the expertise of cost effectiveness, and with little or no overheads. A lot of working class families are now adopting this option. |
So what will he call a credible job.... sitting behind a desk bound computer... and trading in bits and bytes... Those who ensure he gets drinking water, electric power to watch telly, and secure the streets at night equally expose themselves to mortal danger every waking day... He should quit and rope himself into easy money and the attendant crime... since that is the natural default of the average Nigerian. Nonsense. |
Hahahaha.... pally, you are wasting your time. Even I am beginning to think that gross suffering, hellish suffering, crushing poverty, wanton death and destruction.... will not separate Nigerians from their sentiment.... and you will see it come 2023. |
tfelicityk:He cannot because he is a 'mere' governor. And you folks will not agree to the restructuring that will make him responsible enough to change your lives. He does not control anything but the civil service under his feet which are essentially there to serve themselves. Every other fundamental index that makes the life of an average Nigerian better or worse is exclusively controlled by the Federal Government. That is why from Lekki to Biu, and from the Caliphate to the Obong's palace, the life of the average Nigerian is equally averagely poor despite all the layers of government operating. But the owners of Nigeria love it like that and the peons ignorantly fight themselves to support it. |
jrusky:Exactly what I am saying. No details and yet people went to thumbprint. It is like trading in options.... highly risky..... when you put huge amounts of money on assets you cannot see or do not have.... Little wonder the vast majority have gotten badly burnt.... their disappointments audible to the deaf and their tears visible to the blind.... |
Ogbeni.... details..... how, how how will you do these things. Ideas is what runs humanity successfully these days... any other thing is just hot air and for the amusement of the ignorant mob. All we sane Nigerians ask for are the details of your solutions to the vexing questions of our time so that we can analyse them, debate them and season them for your success. Let us graduate from mere electoral hot air and start getting competent men and women into power. Let us evolve from this crude 'beauty contest' the selection process of our leaders has become to the quality a typical interview for the Captain-ship of a Naval Aircraft carrier entails. For our society is sure more complex than that. |
They say his impact in his constituency was near zero so the people must be totally fed up. When you have a non performing Federal Government that controls security and macro economics. And a dismally performing State Government that has shortchanged workers in a largely civil service state such as Kogi, then all the bile will be released on local, grassroots politicians whom they can reach and manhandle. |
Indeed. They think the sufferings of Nigerians is elastic. Inflation that developed economies fear more than even political upheavals and revolutions is what our government is toying with simply because of the ignorance and divisions amongst the citizenry. Let them continue taking loans for white elephant projects and corruptly dashing out stipends in the name of social interventions which are prime triggers for inflation. That we have a large population is no longer an attraction to businesses both foreign and local investments when only 20 percent of the population can afford the goods and services a decent living entails. The high cost of doing business and insecurity is not the only reason why Nigeria has lost a lot of companies to our African neighbors, but inflation as well as rampaging poverty. If Ghana for instance has economic index of 1 and a population of 1 million it will be equally as attractive as a Nigeria with a population of 10 million but an economic index of just 0.1. A huge poor population is useless to the world's economy. |
Saao:He is tired, just fed up like you and me. And as helpless and hapless as the average citizen. What is the function of government again....?? And yet some folks routinely tell us they are performing and doing exceptionally well.... So if this is their best.... I shudder to think of what their fanatics will consider as their failures.... |
Kai Americans again. Their stinginess in running sports outfits is legendary. Their mentality is purely capitalist.... what they gain, not what they put into it. And they do not mind fighting tooth and nail against the ethos of the game just to squeeze another dollar out. Just look at United, beleaguered Arsenal and even Pool with all its successes cannot guarantee world class wages to its top stars who have performed for ages on end. If you doubt, just ask about the ferocious battles for wage caps and player union led boycotts in all of American sports from baseball, grid iron and even the NBA where larger than life characters routinely get hammered financially for every minor indiscretion. Chelsea fans should brace up for a whole new world. Wonder why they couldn't find an Arabian knight in shinning armour. |
Once again, Nigerians desperately trying to elevate individuals above institutions. For in places where democracy as a process works properly, when you are 'defeated politically', particularly on account of misdemeanors or bad performance, you are done, finished, forever. Here, to prop a failed structure the establishment won't mind raising the dead.... literally and figuratively speaking..... so unfortunate. But I won't entirely blame him for this landmine he straddles, because we are yet to know the terms of the deal that spared him from an inquest after his tenure and that has made him a puppet on a string in the hands of this government..... so nothing will surprise me. Quite unfortunate. His stock continues to slide by the day. |
mrvitalis:Indeed I listened to the report on radio this morning. I think he meant to state that the whole saga will lead to his missing the so called screening event.... a process, not a point of reference that it was ongoing. But what I really did not like about the report was the prayer session that was going on while the assault on his residence lasted in the background. To me, it all came out of the radio as trying to whip us religious sentiment. Why all the drama? Why not face them like a man and then pray for forgiveness and deliverance/rescue in the quiet of your cell like 'Paul and Silas' in the stocks. |
timefarm:As long as you do not have the facts you cannot have the liberty to oppose speculation for that is exactly what you are doing. Just that yours is in support of the establishment. Facts...?? |
gambojimeta:Not saying what is happening is right, excusable or acceptable. Just stating the origins of the Second Amendment and why such deeply rooted Legislation will be hard to overturn particularly when the Liberals are seated in the White House and will be viewed as doing everything possible to undermine the Conservative roots of America. |
gambojimeta:Well, the 2nd was created to back up democracy essentially, which gives power ultimately to the people as it is described, to checkmate government tyranny by ensuring the governed will always have more guns than the government. Democracy in the United States is unlike any other in the world. It is the purest form of a balance of powers. So that in the eventuality that institutiins fail the average citizen has a Plan B. |
Winters23:And when will you mind the senseless carnage devastating your country Nigeria where scores are held captive for months and years on end in the north and where citizens are gunned down on the streets of the south for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.... Case of the kettle and the pot or is it the speck and the log? |
They say hindsight is 20/20. But when folks like us said in 2014 that by the end of this regime even the hardiest, craziest, fanatical supporters will be dumb struck. Who can remember some of my statements, one on the fact that.... 'By the end of the Buhari regime in 1985 there was not a single Minister or Military Administrator (MILAD) that was not a multi-millionaire (dollar wise) which leaves little to be imagined about how much that comes to by today's standards. Absolutely none. Fast forward almost 40 years and his lieutenants are once again at it, picking up party forms for a hundred mill. a sheet like candy. Well, for those who queued in the sun and rain after the fallacy of anti-corruption, take heart. Any one can be swindled when his senses are tucked up his rear end. It happens. But as 2023 comes again, what will be your excuse for readmission to the School of Hard Knocks. Nigerians, pele oh. |
Buckeyemedia1:Hmmm....I see, Then if I am to blame for the poor economy together with 199,999,999 of my long suffering comrades.... including you my friend. Then and a very big then..... WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF GOVERNMENT....?? You know me very well as a consistent preacher of the gospel of restructuring such that the centre devolves responsibility aka power, amongst many other things so that we all will not be shouting 'President', 'President oh!!!' when any cat is stuck on a tree. But your very own 'rock star veepee' said during the first term of this government, and I quote. '..that restructuring is not the problem facing Nigeria, but quality of governance'..... a view reiterated by the former Minister of State for Education and another Presidential hopeful just today. So it looks like a case of holding the steering when the journey is smooth but claiming it was the driver that crashed the car when an accident happens. Be honest with yourself. If the Nigerian economy was dandy and we were all having a big party, will you say what you are saying now as a fan of this government?? Will you say it was the States that bolstered the economy and it was Nigerian spirit and enterprise that catapulted it. Will you not be flying the party kite and singing praises to the amiable 'Head of the Economic Team'. After all is it not a certain 'Leader of the Party' that has made Lagos a 'success story" you folks say. Have you ever praised the Lagosian??... |
