Everyone eager to exonerate the Vice President from the calamity this government has foisted on Nigeria(ns). If he will not share the blame then we do not need the Office of the Vice President and the attendant humongous amounts budgeted to it every year. What is the Office of the Vice President for then? The man himself on his tours all over Nigeria to woo delegates is apt to boast about the people he had met, the experiences he had gained and most importantly is always keen to fly the kite of his pet projects. The question is, if he is so lame duck then his CV for the Office of the President he seeks should also be empty and his experiences in public service restricted to being Attorney General of Lagos state, thus making him one of the least qualified of all the leading candidates in both contending parties. The facts his supporters are running helter-skelter to conceal and subvert is that his duties in this government were clear. He headed the economic team and took credit for its social programs, so why hide when the inflationary effects of those very programs is hitting the economy hard. When he was sharing out money willy-nilly didn't the so called 'technocrat' realise Economics 101, that money flowing without commensurate productivity leads to inflation...?? This government has mishandled the economy so badly that it is incomprehensible in any democracy for it to dream of returning to power. Only in a country where its citizens are completely out of touch with reality and completely ignorant of how democracy works for the betterment of a peoples can it and will it be possible. |
Hmmm.... But if you put all the acronyms together it sounds like a bad case of diarrhea.... ![]() |
Can we remind ourselves what was said about the previous government.... And then some amiable friends on this forum chorused after it was ousted, the famous, "never again...' Today they are all as silent as the grave yard. And all the sweating in the sun and shivering in the rain, standing in an electoral line to bring this shoddy government into power.... Is there a greater word than disappointment....? Folks, we said it then, we have been saying it for a quarter of a century concerning Nigeria. Without restructuring we will only experience bitter disappointment after another till the grave as far as being a citizen of this unfortunate country is concerned. |
aspabay:Stuff guaranteed to shorten your lifespan. Very unhealthy. |
That is the change they voted for. Now they are busy pulling down a mountain of woes on top their heads in the name of 2023 elections. Democracy and elections for the name plate only, zero substance, zero effect on the lives and the interests of the people it is mean to serve. Yet they fight and insult themselves all over the place for..... nothing. Failed citizens. |
Ola4lead:That is not true. The market for antiquity is not always a bull one. Like every other asset there are fundamental reasons and sentimental reasons for price movements in any direction that only avid collectors can appraise. Like every market place some gain, others lose, while others just want t because they can and then let it go at a loss like an overgrown, once cute puppy. If there is a certain gain, a definite gain, profits set in stone in any business or endeavor, or venture in life as you allude, the whole world will be doing it. |
Why can't we just learn to live in peace in this country. As Bible believing Christians we are enjoined to go the extra mile to live at peace with all humanity. If your fellow man is provoked by certain actions it is not Christ like to be at the centre of it. Do not tempt for your Father in Heaven does not and will never tempt you. If A Christian by his or her actions provokes another man into sin, he or she will be held accountable for it. There is not profit in violence and bloodshed. If you claim to be in the Light, then walk in the Light. If you claim to serve an all wise God then act in wisdom and so not be a partaker in the destruction of God's precious creations. How can you persuade them that are of other faiths to share yours when you do not show love. Do not be in the company of mischief makers, of unbelievers and pagans that cannot walk in Light, cannot walk in love and do not respect humanity. Christians should stop all these and clearly separate yourselves from those who hide under the binary nature of religion in Nigeria to fuel conflict. Real Christians are peacemakers. |
They should ask me. I know Alpha Beta from the roots. |
I hope they do not put down the poor lion for that very silly act. Now that the feline has tasted human blood every other visitor is in mortal danger. Anyway for a third world country the facility ought to have multiple barriers making such proximity impossible. |
PeaceJoyLove:Five paragraphs of talk that has not profit for the common man whatsoever. I keep on asking. What is the function of democracy and what has it done to move this country forward and upwards. You chaps just love to waste your time on meaningless postulations while your counterparts in other climes are all about what they stand to gain from it. Can we get serious for once about this thing. The average politician is weakening by the day in the power equation and will be at his weakest point on the day of elections while the average man will be stronger than he will ever be on that day. You will thus expect all talk amongst citizens at this time and going forward to be about capitalizing on their weakened states to extract plans, programs, policies, and an analysis of who will do what or who cannot do what for the country and its citizens, but I guess that is too hard for us. It is a lot easier to laze around and analyse them like teams and players before a football match in far away lands where you simply cannot control the outcome. Just sad. |
lifezone247:Nigerians live to garnish things thereby exposing their cognitive disabilities. We love to live in bubbles. |
Hmmm... everything I see here is what I saw with Lionel Messi and Fc Barcelona before it all went awry. We will soon hear from UEFA/FIFA and it's 'Fair Play' committee on whether this is actually sustainable and possibly ethical. But one thing for sure, it is a mighty gamble, an 'all eggs in one fragile basket' scenario that should ensure Qatar as a nation never runs foul of the West, Europe or France for that matter or the Roman Abramovic saga will be replayed and with this heavy load the club may just financially implode. Soccer is a team sport. No single player should be made bigger than his team or club, league or game. There are dire consequences for this. What if he kicks tomorrow, throws tantrums and asks for more... and more...as all humans are... basically insatiable. Clubs should not be so desperate. Real Madrid's model remains the best. They spend big, they win big, they remain the go to club for fame (perhaps no more for fortune) and they do all this sustainably. And no one ever holds them hostage. |
Drenimarcus:If he was a citizen he should have been paying small small via insurance. |
Ashirioluwa:Exactly. |
Abegi. It is a clinical assesment to determine if there is any psychological predisposition, in other words a mental health check. The patient in question sounds like a minor and had allegedly complained about certain visual impairements. You need to assess whether these are issues of the mind or the body. |
Indeed. What has 'changed' from the last regime. I just pity those who queued in the sun and rain to bring this calamity of a government crashing down upon their heads. Now they are fighting each other to bring yet another plague in the name of elections in 2023. Instead of asking the rudimentary question.... what is the point of democracy and if we choose it, how does it make our lives better?, how does it take us from this cage of a country to at least the wilderness... Only a foolish congregation of people calling themselves citizens will continually make the same mistakes and expect a better experience. Folks, only restructuring can save this country. Restructure first, then democracy will be an ally in progress, a versatile tool in quest for development. Till then and I repeat, I will not waste my time registering for a PVC or dream of approaching a polling station on the so called election day to vote..... vote who? My conscience will not allow me to attempt empowering these vermin I see in the corridors of power. For to empower anyone that cannot be controlled is tantamount to suicide. And democracy is all about your ability to control those you empower. Without restructuring you CAN NEVER control them. |
Na so. Then you dream about the next holidays and fly into Lagos and the place is like a motorpark, with noise like a metalwork factory, terrible smells everywhere and even gaddem flies in the sand.... The problem in Nigeria is never ideas and investment, it is decency and management, the 'how' to run a place. The concept I observe with what looks like a discotheque by the sea is already a red sign for family outings. Anyway there are beaches and there are beaches. This one is certainly not for everyone. |
When the incident happened I wondered why she was 'locked up' and not spirited away for safety and to a clandestine location. Keeping her in proximity to the mob on made for a tempting target in the face of the growing threat, like an icicle before a searing lava flow. |
oyeb15:In Abuja you are assaulted on the radio waves by, '.....Haya, Haya, Haya Hayatudeen o, o, o.....' every hour..... kai, this country is indeed a country club... |
Mooh247:There is no calibre there. Just the same ol failed politicians that have not offered anything whatsoever, not a shred of evidence on how to take this country up and out of the mess we find ourselves. Anyway like I always say, it is not the players that matter but the game. Nigeria is not structured to make democracy anything but ineffectual so whoever is going to be selected is not bound to succeed. So what is the point of this beauty contest? You're just getting excited for nothing. Your beloved candidate may win but apart from your ego, nothing else will be gained over the next decade. |
DavidEsq:Hahaha.... get an exercise bike or a treadmill. |
'Just In'..... as if there is anything important going on here.... Just wasting resources all over the place and telling their hapless citizens there is nit enough to meet their basic needs. Certainly over 200 hundred foreign trips since 2015 and basically no positive impact on the country or the lives of her people. What a waste. |
Women are slaves to their bodies.... prolific investors in depreciating assets... |
Just pity those who stood on the queue in the sun and rain to bring this calamity upon themselves. Truly, elections have consequences. |
seborrhic:This is the primary reason. From the concoctions sold on the road to the factory labelled 'bitters' or whatever they are called.... |
Nastydroid:Some cannot even describe the way to the houses they have lived in all their lives. |
1stGenAmerican:Don't mind them. The Chinese are not stupid. They have 1.4 billion mouths to feed. You think they will risk a 600 billion trade wallet with the United States (alone, not to talk of Europe) for Russia... Do you know that the greatest fear the Chinese Communist party has is a relapse into the poverty of the Mao years. Do you think they will risk internal stability for sentiment. By the way just as a serial killer will engage the best security and have two eyes at the back of his head so will China (an autocracy) never ever trust another, Russia. |
Demolakay:How big was the island of Japan when it held the world hostage between 1937-1945, defeated and occupied China and singlehandedly (without the aid of foreign forces) ran riot throughout Asia till the edge of the middle east....and even after being hit with two atomic weapons only surrendered when Russia did not comit to neutrality. Oga. War is a classic case of the size of the fight in the dog. Even you can see what ragtag bandits and insurgents have made of your Nigerian Army. Remember the Wehrmacht were just 20 kilometers from Moscow in November 1941 when they were frozen out by weather and Hitler's pride and greed.... I seriously think not. |
1stGenAmerican:I doubt even if he pushes it anyone will obey and launch knowing their own demise is certain. Contrary to intuition it is a lot easier to strike back with nuclear tipped weapons that to order a first strike. In America a first strike has to pass through Congress. No cake walk. In Putin's autocratic Russia the GRU will probably just shoot him in the head. Who wants to die for nothing. |
Sad day for those two lovely countries, but they have no choice but to run for cover when the Russian Bear is off it's chain. |
The Vice President who is the leading politician of Christian heritage should send for them immediately and commensurate with them personally and wholeheartedly and offering whatever compensation the state is obliged to. That is the moral, sensible thing to do to reassure the local Christian communities in those parts that they are safe, and they are bonafide citizens of their respective domains. If he remains silent or is ambivalent towards this high profile case then the die is cast for very serious socio-political upheavals in this country going forward. |
