And see the calibre of people foisted to lead Nigeria for the next decade or so. I simply have no comment. Nigerians are not ready to survive. |
Rexymania:Indeed. The success rate is very, very low. It takes an exceptional woman to do that and by exceptional I mean either an exceptional disciplinarian or an intellectual. Now at 17 and 19 years of age one will need to top all that with serious spiritual leanings to reverse a lot of deeply rooted psychological damage. And if these qualities are not inherent they must be found elsewhere, with someone else. Goodluck. |
CelestineNelson:Making your PVC a worthless instrument of real, positive democratic receipts. They say register to vote and stop being a media critic..... They harass you day and night, eventually you make up your mind to get married and go get your PVC with a promise of a blissful married life... Then in the great day of joy they select who you should vote for, the ugliest two or three of the Chief's daughters. And you still insist you know what you are doing and that your future happiness is guaranteed.... you must be mad. We know the two leading candidates are going to make our lives worse, much worse over the course of the next few years yet we insist on the forced marraige... no wahala. |
Dancing to get paid. Where in the world does that happen? Get serious please.... anyway what is my business. That place should be shut down for all I care.... not worth it. |
At the end of the day they will select a candidate that cannot succeed making the elections futile. Democracy simply cannot work this way. The citizens should be concerned that all these pre-qualification exercises are destroying this country, offering the citizens a choice between bad and worse all the time. I am yet to see the reason to get a PVC and will not until Nigeria is restructured and democracy starts from the roots to the tip. Democracy is simply not visiting a Chinese restaurant and asking for fufu and banga soup. |
Built2last:Absolutely irredeemable. |
This is just terrible, what is happening in this country. Some evil souls out there just trying to kindle civil war in Nigeria. And no one stops them as they build the bonfire. |
.... looks absolutely disgusting doesn't it.... kai... so gross.... ![]() |
Government incompetence in full view. What nonsensical talk. Anyway Nigerians must be satisfied with their service if not the streets will be filled with protests by now. |
They should just finish their 8 years and get lost. They have not solved a single problem they met in 2015 but worsened almost every tough situation. Complete failures. Yet they are making the most political noise all over the place and disturbing public peace with their disgusting primaries. Only in Nigeria that a party that has performed so badly has the temerity to think it can return. Vote them the third time and it is probably curtains for all. |
But what is this terrible carnage for... Who can do this sort of thing. What is this country turning to for heavens sake. Look, the government better sit up and get to the bottom of this and prosecute the offenders with utmost prejudice or the state will collapse into total anarchy. If they have lost control of the country they should say so immediately so that people can resort to self help. I will not blame any single citizen today for desiring to acquire a firearm to stay alive. The government should prove to me why this has not become a basic necessity. Just terrible. |
b3llo:Your money....it is your money, oh infantile citizen. |
Winters23:Just took the thought off the top of my head. The government can set up a facility where these folks will serve their time developing software, programming and the various IT stuff and doing the intensive tasking of creating a comprehensive national database, Nigeria desperately needs at a time of crushing insecurity. All the tools are there to kill two birds with one stone, meeting our needs and redirecting the minds and attitudes of these young men and women towards more positive and productive accomplishments. |
Malory:Why the governing board has not passed a vote of no confidence and asked for his removal remains a sad chapter in our history. His foreign counterparts will be so wary about doing business with the institution he heads and have little regards for his integrity. |
I agree. The figures do not lie. That is why the average PVC is useless for well informed and well meaning Nigerians. Without restructuring there is little to no hope that democracy can work to move his country forward. And my suggestion on this is to change the Constitution to adopt the Electoral College system to reflect the poplar vote so that folks that breed like hampsters are not empowered to use that poor mentality to govern the rest of our futures... no apologies but that is exactly what has happened since 1999. But till then, I personally won't bother. |
tarantino1:Value doesn't reside in locations but in people. Locations only enhance or depress value, they do not create or destroy values. A cow relocating from Nigeria where it is chased from eating up one farm to another for years will not become a horse when it gets to the US and is tied to a paddock and fed GM soya and 'vitamins'.... ![]() It will only become a fat cow. |
jclassiq:The complaint must have been made by the mall and I will venture they will have tried to stop her business and get her off their premises before calling the police. No business premises even the dingy ones back here in Nigeria will tolerate that. Every city in the world has flea markets. That is where she should go to meet the kind of folks that will buy that stuff without issues. |
The great lesson to all from this latest installment of the drama serial, the 'Late Night Show' from the stable of the comedic APC is that, Don't institutionalize what you cannot live with. We were all warned in 2014 that the man being upheld had questionable democratic tenets, but they said he was reformed....no wahala. We were all warned against elevating individuals above institutions, but they said what they needed was a 'strong man'.... no wahala. And on and on.... And they were all hailed as master strategists for riding the proverbial tiger. Today all and sundry are hoping the tiger softens its stand and becomes more tolerant of the sheep around, more democratic in its nature.... How the tiger will exchange its stripes for that of a zebra and begin to eat grass at this late, late stage of its life is the drama we are anxiously watching. By 2023 everyone will be careful what they wish for. Now can we view our pet presidential candidates with that more diligence. |
YinkaOlusesi16:Nigeria doesn't bother you. That is all you care about.... and me and you have just one PVC apiece..... just sad. Democracy is certainly not working... |
malali:Typical Nigerian mentality..... analysis and results, aka blame game without solutions, living in the past. While the diseases that the report speaks about are round the corner, in the near future. The godfatherism and monarchy of the Sarakis has been dismantled 7,.....7,..... 7 good years ago, but folks like you mentally choose to still live in it. While those who are presently responsible and the only ones that can do anything about it are excused.... What kind of crass attitude is this. But I totally understand this. After all this is Nigeria. For just as you lot could not hold the Sarakis accountable so you are not able to hold the present political dynasty and thus the sad cycle of analysis and results aka blame game will continue seven years from now. Democracy is simply not working in Nigeria. Elections after elections and the country worsens. Power is like money loaded on a prepaid (credit/debit/ATM) card. If you are ignorant of its value or its application you can die of hunger with that card in your pocket. Such is the lot of ignorant, sentimental Nigerians, their PVC's being completely worthless to the quality of their lives. You can dismantle a dynasty but cannot hold the replacement to account.... abeg sit down.....'Where is the progress'.....indeed |
twosquare:That is life.... a few hours ago we couldn't get enough air around his supporters.... one FUBAR and his camp is empty... |
deflover:Without restructuring Nigeria CAN NEVER progress. Without restructuring the average PVC is as useless as the keycard of a cheap, raunchy motel.... can not move your life an inch forward. |
shinealight:Let me whisper this to you softly, softly.... ![]() That is exactly what Mr President (or the President's men) want to do..... What you cleverly hide in your submissions is the status of the 'candidates' to be chosen, which is the crux of the matter. Just like Mr. Tinubu makes available HIS candidates at the general elections, Mr. Buhari want to make available HIS candidate at the general elections also. The lack of democracy is not on the streets at the general election, no, no, no, but within the political parties. That is where all the mess of maladministration starts, and I am sure you have heard the term 'LACK OF INTERNAL DEMOCRACY'. This can be caused by two things. Either by coercion or by influence. Both attack the conscience and erode true competition, the foundation of true democracy. The PDP did theirs last week and the lack of internal democracy was manifest by the influence of bags of money. The APC wants to do theirs but by coercion. Both are bad and both are alive at all levels of the polity, including States of which Lagos is a poster child.... and you know it, infact you folks boast about it. I just cannot see what is happening now that has not happened all over Nigeria including in Lagos for the better part of twenty years. But the silver lining here is if this 'big fight' will result in mutual destruction that will consume that cancer of autocracy in Nigerian politics, then we might all be happy at the end. |
lugado:Then who will break this cycle and pull us out of this undemocratic swamp we have found ourselves in.... the governors or the 'president(cy)'.... Because all I see is an engine in continual motion, fueled by the very folks who want it to cease up as it thunders downhill. In one breath you hear folks say he 'single-handedly' installed the present President by 'dethroning' the former ruling PDP. That alone is the language of autocracy, the very thing that causes this problem. And this attitude continues at every political engagement, ignorantly peddled as strength. What do you expect opponents to do?.... use the very instrument against you.... No one goes with a knife to a gunfight. |
shinealight:There is nothing to be said about Lagos politics that is not audible to the deaf and visible to the blind. Heck, you folks boast about it all day and night for two decades now, about how a single individual decides elections. Is that democracy.? When you sing that a man, a single man has the power to instal and remove leaders in deciding elections, you give little thought that it flies in the face of the tenets of a popular franchise. That is empire building. Who does that in a democracy. Where it works properly you do your term and walk away hoping to leave the office, state and its institutions in a better shape than you met it, period. That is success in a democracy. You don't use the instrument of state while in office to create a back door to perpetuate yourself in power. It is a crime in other climes. Now that it is practiced by others you folks find it hard to swallow. So wierd. You are either a democrat or not. You either practice democracy or not. You cannot pick and choose when and how to peddle influence to suit your wants. It is a moral question every politician out there has to answer and a serious question the people of this country have to rise to resist. Enough is enough. We want to vote for who we want, not who is foisted on us. If not elections is futile and your PVC is no better than a motel door keycard. |
ChoCho54:Exactly what we have been saying for years. Lagos is not a poster child for the Nigeria Democratic project and here lies the problem. They have taught other 'wannabees' that it is possible for an individual to serially select who governs and it will be perfectly okay. And you know bad things are ever so easy to replicate to a worse degree. In summary it is a story of a kettle and pot. |
Let us be honest with ourselves. Without some of the tabled electoral reforms and/or without a wider advocacy for restructuring the demographics of the whole electoral process, there is no PVC or collection of PVC's south of the Niger that can produce the kind of government most folks expect, i.e. one that can develop Nigeria in the way an averagely literate person considers to be development. Nigerians remain dogged voters for sentimental reasons alone, satisfied that their tribesman is elected into office or in proximity to power while the overall situation of the country gets worse, worse enough to degrade the value of the average PVC as a tool for electing a proper government that works. So it is not only Peter Obi that suffers, the whole country has not progressed since 1999 even through 6 general elections. And that is why today 20 million PVC's are left unclaimed.... according to INEC... because quite frankly...who PVC epp... as they say. |
abbey621:Not saying going around speaking 'against' the government but being neutral at the least and certainly not defending their actions as he did all the time particularly on touchy issues, ....then especially on human rights issues like ENDSARS, etc, and then offering alternate solutions on things like the badly run economy which I feel he has better ideas than what the present government offers. Look at his contemporaries that forged the APC from other power blocs. They had quietly and tactically faded from the scene in recent years but with their political capital relatively intact and folks like Kwankwaso are even in a position now to 'shake the power tree'. I remain convinced he hung around too long and is presently suffering from political 'see finish' syndrome. Such that if he somehow manages to scale through, he will have made so many deals and made so many concessions it will just be a government by proxy.... |
abbey621:Said it months ago. That he should have distanced himself from this administration after the 2019 elections to give himself enough moral traction particularly amongst the wider populace and forge an independent identity outside the government. But he chose the easier route of seeking the 'anointing' of the establishment. Now its far too late in the day to attract wider sympathy as many associate him with all the failings of this government. Between and betwix the man is... Nigerians are really not as smart as they often think they are. |
The longer this nonsense continues the more the tendency that the APC fragments. The only reason I comment on topics like these is not to chase individuals like most ignorant Nigerians that cannot see beyond their noses but in the interest of democracy to which the APC is an important institutional player. And just like my desire post 2015 for the PDP to survive, the same is becoming very concerning about the ruling APC as blatant greed is threatening to destroy it, so sane minds have to speak up and call these brigands masquerading as leaders to uphold democratic principles and allow the party to survive because the APC is clearly tottering. No individual should be bigger than the institution he belongs and no individual ambition or aspiration should be bigger than the collective vision, will and impetus of the institution he or she hopes to vehicle to leadership. Just as I always kicked against a one party state in the heydays of the APC, the same sad scenario is playing out again. And like the sunset of every great empire it is often traced to injustice, inequity and greed, vicious anti-social cancers that eat them up and corrode them to nothingness from within. In this present scenario of imbroglio in the APC, the opposition PDP sadly does not need to work hard to regain power which is a terrible disservice to the hapless citizens of this structurally degraded country. |
This is awful.... just terrible.... what a loss... Women should not be subject to such violence. I just wonder who was at the wheel. |
As I listened to his ordeal on the airwaves this morning I knew he will be under the cosh for his stern accusations which were quite frankly, very brash. I still do not think the church handled the matter to the best of practices and the fallout is even worse. |
