Mko123:Hmmm... yeah. With the report that... was it 95 percent of depositors (the citizens of Nigeria by extension) hold/have no more than $1,000 in their checking accounts.... sympotomatic of WASP.... Widespread And Serious Poverty. |
Mood11: ....for a moment I honestly was wondering at a new bank hitting our shores.... then it hit me..... ![]() The way you stated the PiggyBank brand.... with the authority of an ad expert. |
Complaining about neglect by successive governments leading to decay and yet wants the same govermental structures to take the power sector back... The simple reason why government is poor at entrepreneurship is that long term commitment is absent. An entrepreneur is in busi ESS for life and not for election cycles and he is totally dependent on his business for survival and cannot just take loans to cover financial mediocrity and recklessness. It is the politicisation of the power privatisation that has stalked its development. When communications went without benefits to the power that be they decided power will not follow suit and brought in unknown cronies without root or branch. Result is failure. |
Good thing he is going to Maiduguri. It will inspire confidence that the place is gradually getting back to normal and a bit of solidarity with the long suffering people and the men and women in uniform in this season of goodwill is a big plus. Kudos to Mr. President. |
Not impressed by this symptomatic show of mediocrity. We have more than enough uniforms, more than enough blue collar security personnel roaming the streets with assault weapons. What we need are 'white collar', shirt sleeved intelligentsia, folks more comfortable in laboratories than at checkpoints. We need to upgrade our security architecture to fit the demands of our increasingly complex and challenging society. Our leaders are poor thinkers. |
Their business. I am closing 5 pm on the 24th and resuming 7 am on the 27th. New Year is 1st of January not 3rd. Indolent government, lazing around after dosing us with relentless inflation in 2021 making us work twice as hard to remain viable. They think everyone borrows unashamedly to move forward. |
robosky02:Here he is. Coaching Al-Ahly and doing a fantastic job last time I checked |
kayusely70: .... when Nigerian defenders were defenders...not the overated, overpaid softies we have on display today. |
Be careful. African referees donot protect players. Still remember Bright Omokaro's (alias 10/10) bone crunching tackle on that Algerian player at Maroc 88. Today, with VAR in Europe he will be led away from the field in cuffs. |
mrvitalis:Hahahaha....interesting... ![]() |
chatinent:Yes, and apparently you are a lover of your chains oh failed citizen. Your contemporaries in other climes seek a better life for themselves. Continue playing the ostrich while the effects of this calamity continue. Two of my senior staff are just back from Kaduna and Zamfara respectively having left on compassionate leave. Both have evacuated their families from home as we will not entertain or participate the payment of ransoms. Hearing their stories of horror, it is clear the worsening economic situation in Nigeria is turning men to animals and criminals to beasts. Continue playing politics you hear. |
stepaside2:Have you asked yourself how other nations get their citizens to willingly 'pay for things', public services including taxes and levies. Do they put a gun to their heads? Have you not seen goverments in the west rise and fall on just the back of tax rates. No one in the world wants to pay taxes. And no one in this world I know will be willing to pay for anything he can get free. So once again how do governments in othe climes get their citizens to pay 'through their noses for stuff' Think about it. For therein lies our failings as government and as a people. |
backbencher:Fair enough. So what we need to do in 2023 is to elect a government that first of all listens, not lectures and secondly a government that resembles us. That is reacts to the economy, to security, and so on the way we would. So if you and I are looking for a second job to make ends meet they too are looking for a second source of income to balance their budgets. That if you and I are cutting down on meals, mending old clothes instead of buying new ones and thinking of finding cheaper rent the government learns to cuts its budget and expenditures likewise. That if you and I strive to leave healthy to cut our medical bills and learn to live at peace with our neighbours to avoid the police and costly litigation then our government must act smart as well to nip insecurity in the bud quickly and negotiate out peaceful resolutions with agitators and not resort to violence and costly wars at every provocation. When we get these the people will see themselves in government and be all too willing to make sacrifices and proud to join hands in building Nigeria. Governance is easy if you know how and and are sincerely willing to. The African is not diffifult to lead. His demands are not vast or complicated. |
backbencher:And it is not politically popular for the only thing you left out in your compedium of excuses for bad governance which is the failure of this government to cut the cost of its administration. Every keen observer has noted the huge leap in recurrent expenditure since 2015. What is the excuse for that. If income is tough and we cannot control that, what is the excuse for not cutting expenses to balance the books. Every day we are inundated with upsetting news of government waste, graft and reckless maladministration of our treasury. Hardly the best campaign advert to get the long suffering citizens to pitch in with their taxes innit? So they borrow because they cannot make the sacrifices to get us in solidarity with them. That is classic bad governance. To sneak on us liabilities we are unwilling to take. |
Between a rock and a hard place. If they do it sooner the aggrieved will surely defect. If they do it later the electorate will surely defect. That is why democracy was fashioned. To ensure perforrmance in governance as the only guarantee tor continuity in office. If the APC truly performed these past years it would not be so jittery today. All these shenanigans is concrete proof of abject failure. |
DubaiLandLord4:The FBI is not a secret service. It is a law enforcement agency whose activities are in full public view and is directly accountable to the people. The DSS has no equivalent in the US as our structures are different but in the UK it is supposed to mirror the MI5 whose activities are clandestine and whose accountability is to a select few. But I agree with you, our secret service, the DSS has regrettably become a law enforcement agency totally incapable of the stealth, intelligence and dark arts of state security. It is our fault. EndSARS will have reformed our police for good but our failure to see it through has left a vacuum the DSS is now degrading itself to fill. State police, they say no way. Reform Federal police, they say no way, we like it like this.....so.. |
omokab:At the bolded. So now you admit it. In 2014 and early 2015 this is not the song your compatriots were singing. Today everyone is admitting the 'lack of capacity' to move Nigeria forward as the big issue. That somewhere along the pipes there will always be leaks and water wasted but as long as the pumps are functional we will still be able to drink. This goverment shut down most of the pumps and today still cannot patch up the pipes. So.... I sincerely hope the next goverment will be one of competence as the first mandate. Then it should be one of total comittment to restructuring this country. Anything less will be curtains for Nigeria, simple. |
Reflect7:The standard of living is the best way to assess the effects of economic policies, programs and actions. And the arithmentic is simple: Gains minus losses = Situations. By your assertion I too can be a simpleton: Mr. Jonathan's Goverment: 10 points gained minus 5 points of corruption lost = 5 point standard of living. Mr. Buhari's Goverment: x points gained minus 0 points of corruption (as many hailers say) = (I leave you to guess, but even you must admit it is far less than the 5 point standard of living in 2015).Thus: It is clear this country has not moved forward at at all. Gained nothing economically in the last 6 years but regressed seriously and this has been manifest in two recessions. X has been in the negative all the years of this goverment. So what is the point about corruption if the economy cannot be handled properly. Mr. Obi said it clealry in his 2015 campaigns. That you donot leave your shop to run after thieves. We all laughed him to scorn....are we laughing today.... Where are the so called proceeds of recovered loots.... why hasn't it balanced the budget or built the so called infrastructure we were promised. It shows that corruption is NOT the problem of this country. Think about it. |
This is what we were saying for years, before the advent of this administration and through all its election propaganda.. That corruption isn't the problem of Nigeria but the structure that makes it possible. That no matter who is in charge, a swamp will always breed mosquitos so 'drain the swamp'. Change the structure and the bugs will disappear naturally. We voted in a party and a man determined to scuttle all attempts at restructuring Nigeria. As his goverment comes slowly to an end, the very status quo he had defended and deepened has resulted in all manner of corruption amd maladministration cases. So what has changed.... I tell you. In the past we had corruption. But we had people who knew how to drive the economy positively so the effects of the corruption were less felt. Today we have perhaps the most incompetent (in recent times) goverment in place. Not a single A-lister in any capacity to effect change. Not a single experienced hand in the core MDA's and Agencies. That is poor leadership. You don't want to change the system but wish to manage a country that is structured to fail. Then you do not hire qualitative assistants. What does this goverment expect and its teeming supporters think will happen... |
Mrkumareze:Just what i said last year when the heat of his possible succession began to rise. That In a proper, working democracy such a candidate will tactfully begin to distance himself from the present underperforming goverment simply because they are becoming a liability with each passing day to the ruling party. Just as Obama began early, charting his own course and at the end had totally dissociating himself from the Clinton years in goverment tarnished at the end with scandal. But this is Nigeria where democracy isn't working, where the present goverment determines who suceeds it because the people are too weak to insist on their mandate and are to divided to make a proper choice. Ordinarily with its peformance there is simply no way the APC should win in 2023 and the only way an aspirant in its fold can rise above the ashes will be to exorcise its demons and totally confess a new birth. But the danger still lies there, that if Mr. Tinubu does not start early, chart his own course away from this sinking ship of state and other contenders build momentum he may find himself clutching the short straw when the real campaigns start and the scent of failure may still linger on him come election date. |
Last week he was doing a book launch, today he is cutting a birthday cake and raising a toast... . Mr. President's handlers are indeed his ruin. They have conspired to wipe away any iota of a positive legacy. If I were him I will set up a security summit and fly there directly from Istanbul. To at least pretend to show empathy and concern. |
SIRTee15:Sure. There is a story presently on Yahoo about a man kicked off a flight for wearing a thong across his face instead of a mask. His business right...??, was still thrown out. |
Jidemoo:Arabs??... Brunei is millions.... okay thousands of miles from the Middle East or Gulf. They are a country in the Asia ring of hydrocarbon deposits that includes Indonesia another oil and gas giant. ...And they speak Malay.. |
LordErrk:If he considers a potential escalation of the situation he is bound to take preemptive action. Few things can be resolved at 40,000ft. If the situation goes bad midair the pilot will be blamed for lax judgement. |
Mynd44:Don't mind them. They don't understand the laws of the air. Since 9-11 tolerances have been reduced to nil. |
For wia. They will consider this their own time to make hay. A group of equals not ashamed to give and receive bribes from one another. |
....Yeah, and I could have been Will Smith if my ancestor had not hid in the hills while his mates were captured and taken into slavery... ![]() |
Said it the moment he collapsed on that pitch and was given CPR. That it was all over but some folks here were yapping out ignorance. Few will give him health insurance to continue playing and so few clubs will be willing to give him a contract, not to talk of the devastating publicity it will procure for them if it recurs. Feel sorry for him but that is the reality. If he was at his 'root' club he would just be moved back office to continue in some capacity. Unfortunately he was at the early stages of his Inter contract and not impacted the club, fans and owners so not much sentimental attachment to give him a soft landing. |
The bricbats have started. Ugly politicking is on the run way about to take to the air. Supporters of Mr. Tinubu should brace for impact. They should understand that if he must be President there will be muck and everything will be open and fair game. |
Running away again. Countless trips costing billions yet the country continues to slide, standard of living tanks and violence escalates. What is the essence of all these trips. How many years will the long suffering people wait to see decent, proper governance... Just sad. |
It will be outlawed globally. Over the years such devices have always fallen foul of various United Nations Conventions on the use of unlawful weapons. So China is not the first to develop novel weaponry in this category (for laser guns have been available since the mid 70's in the west) and will not be the first to have them confined to research labs and museums. The Germans deployed poisoned gas during the First World War, Americans have been toying around with autonomous weaponry for decades, aka battle bots of sorts and the Russians have developed swarms of killer drones.... all these are banned by convention. Not everything you dream up and conjure will end up being accepted. The world has rules. This device in this state is beyond. |
vickydevoka:You are supposed to rest after the vaccine and take anti inflammatories... I'm sure you didn't. |

(I leave you to guess, but even you must admit it is far less than the 5 point standard of living in 2015).
you better start distancing yourself from the failure Buhari, his body odour will catchup with you don't...
