Hmmm....Mister Lister.... aka bone collector. Read most comments..... so true but the one missed all along is the real definition of kick back when the choke is engaged and compression is not enough to spark ignition... the thing kicks like a mule. That got me many, many times in the early 80's at home. But the one that remains in memory was during one of those holidays when this generator had grown stubborn and resistant to all attempts to start it. Well I left it for the new Maiguard (lived in Kano at that time) who was eager to impress albeit with a lot of concern when I learnt he had never seen one before. My oh my, I have never seen a grown man, upside down, five feet in the air and screaming for dear life as he was flung away by the recoil. Men, I quietly walked away. Pops just called for the mechanic. The guy was not himself for days and any time he walked by the damn thing he would just shake his head. Lister no be here abeg. |
.... bring it on.... the heavens will not fall. My people cannot do nada... |
Ahmed0336:Na now you know. Very primitive politicking he practices. If he was so treated will he have ever been governor. |
Ignorant Nigerians will sit down and be shouting 'scamdemic'. They won't get themselves vaccinated or treated, calling it mere malaria and thus truncating the businesses, professions and aspirations of other sensible, well meaning Nigerians. How the Almighty was able to aggregate such a huge bunch of some of the most 'retar-ded' people on earth in one geographical space deserves divine explanantion. It can only be a miracle. |
dultraray:That is not what we were told in 2014 and early 2015. If we were told 'everyone' is involved then why change government. We were promised all these will end and change was at hand. Stop shifting the goal post. That is poor quality citizenship. Hold them to their promises, damn it..... ![]() |
This is the future of energy in Nigeria since I cannot see any meaningful progress in public energy services. It is a pity that those with the resources, particularly government cannot spawn an industry out of household power solutions. So instead of building factories to process coconuts and assemble automobiles, they can invest in the assembly, then manufacture of solar energy components to liberate millions of households from the energy crises facing Nigeria. |
Reference:PS: Donald Trump had always desired to bring America out of Afghanistan, even before he became President but that lack of early political decisiveness ensured it never happened throughout his term. Jonathan Goodluck similarly had an opportunity to light the fuse to restructure the country which he should have done within weeks of assuming power but he could not muster the political will and at the end of the day the opportunity was lost. Ask him tomorrow and that will be up there together with his long list of political regrets..... a legacy lost. |
backbencher:Most citizens of this country including our leaders still do not understand how democracy works. There is no country on earth not faced with hard decisions from time to time. As a matter of fact democracy was made to absorb hard decisions that will ordinarily crush autocracies and end monarchies. Biden faced a hard decision on keeping Afghanistan (propping up a democracy, which is the cornerstone of America's foreign policy for two hundred years) or losing it together with trillions of dollars and thousands of souls. He took the decision 'early', knowing that if he waited for 'clarity' for weeks, or months, he will never get to do it. The country was split on this but his political capital was still too loaded and his aura fresh at that time for it to cost his government much traction. This is what the APC and Mr. President in waiting should have seen and planned late 2014, early 2015. To have planned to have ambushed the citizens who hated the previous government and will have swam/drank putrid water (it did happen) to give Mr. Buhari leeway to 'change' Nigeria. But because our democracy is not informed and our leaders are really not cerebral they could not muster the strategies to do the needful. Today Mr. Buhari's political capital is all but spent. Even the hailers cannot wait for the curtain call in 2023 and a new set of leaders across the political spectrum is warming to take to the track. What are their strategies to take the hard decisions FOR NIGERIA if they get into office.... nothing.... so they will do nothing and Nigeria will continue to drift for another generation. |
He has now seen the light.... eureka. ![]() Our politicians are not very bright. If he had done his homework and obtained the facts and not believed all the political hot air and propaganda swirling around him from his hangers-on and lackeys in the run up to 2015, he will have made hay while the sun shone. I said it then. Proper democratic elections is like cashing a large cheque. You start off with much goodwill that will ebb away with the reality of time and with the expectations of the people. Very, very, very few leaders the world over leave office with more goodwill than they started, even the very best ones. Thus most informed democratic leaders the world over take the toughest decisions early in their terms when this capital is at is highest... when the aura is freshest and the angst against the previous, deposed government still raw. That is when the hard decision on liberalising the petroleum sector should have been taken, sometime before the Christmas 2015..... but that now infamous gaffe wouldn't let them. It is now in the twilight of the administration, when even the most ardent 'hailer' secretly weeps at night, Mr Buhari has deemed it timely to hang our collective balls over hot coals. He is just lucky he leads a country of completely inept citizens, if not even a fly will trigger a massive landslide against the ruling party at the next polls. Simply put, remove subsidies and forget re-election, period. What he does will certainly not be surmountable or recoverable for his party.... but this is Nigeria. |
Just wait and see how the Naira will strengthen and the foreign reserves jack up.... I hope those in charge of communicating with China and processing those terrible loans are not vaccinated.... |
aminulive:Who is this two-bit sorry arsed government hack. Nigeria is going down the toilet with record breaking tragic incidents day after day. No one needs an activist to experience the heat of APC's blast furnace called government abeg. |
legba1:Then use your wealth to support your partner for the window of public service he undertakes. That is what public office holders the world over do. You recognise the fact that you are both in the limelight and so you reflect what your partner preaches. If he is part of a government calling for austerity his lifestyle and yours will be under scrutiny particularly when he is the Chief Representative. This is not good or welcome publicity. It is not wise and speaks about a ruling class that is completely out of touch with the realities of their responsibilities. The kind of leadership that is bereft of sacrifice will only find governance and solidarity very hard. |
yrex01:Why not. Won the UCL and Euros. What is bigger than that for club and country in a non World Cup year. |
That is why they will have a hard time selling any austerity measure to any but the most ignorant citizens. We who support things like the removal of gasoline subsidies cannot find credible allies in government because their lifestyles simply do not reflect our collective aspirations. They make governance more difficult for themselves and credible citizenship for the rest of us. |
There is simply something fundamentally wrong with this country.... honestly.... just tired abeg... |
DominionGreat:Hmm.... at least the highway will last longer and require no maintenance for the foreseeable future. |
They probably just saved her life..... as you know, not from the dangers of ingesting narco wraps... but the guys waiting at the airport over there and the judges who will not bat an eyelid in sending her to the gallows... |
thinkmoney:The world is increasingly selfish and that will be its doom. Everyone from environmental polluters to pandemic/vaccine deniers to religious zealots lacking empathy for their fellow human-beings, we are on a sure course to self annihilation. |
ezixt:That is how idolatry, fanaticism and then violent extremism starts. Very soon they will soon book a ship load of AK's and start shooting up villages in the country side....calling themselves the "Messiorites" or the OFSS.... the "Ororo Front for Soccer Supremacy".... Abeg we don't have enough security men to handle another crises. |
Just look at how the place is.... so rolled back in time. I tell you, if anyone wishes to make a movie about colonial rule in Nigeria the last two centuries, he will save a lot of money on props and stages. Everything is here, fresh, nothing has changed....sad. |
StayMotivated:It is not every coaches that fits every situation. It is not every coach that can successfully transform any team, so they have to be careful and study the squad to know what kind of personality can handle them. You can change a coach like toilet paper because all you lose are a few millions, how do you change a squad that costs half a billion overnight.... With all due respects, there is nothing similar between the Ajax squad and the United squad. In many respects they are complete polar opposites in age grade, playing pattern, stardom and many other factors that may not make Ten Haag an overnight success and it will take him several windows to get his team in. Will the stakeholders of that great club have that kind of patience? |
The rubber will soon meet the road. Something will sooner or later give. If Keyamo expects state governments to sit idly by while the people that voted them in are maltreated, abused and unjustly killed, they have something coming. Shey the Federal government feels it can use its security agencies any how and expect the states to apologise for indiscretions on its behalf. Restructuring will surely come. When soldiers will be kept far away from civilians and made to do their jobs of securing the nation and not the government which is the responsibility of the police, when the police will see the people as their employers and not politicians. |
Beey:Likely caused by improper post operative medications. |
Kriss216:Indeed. Given the latitude some will soon begin to prefix the title 'Millionaire' or 'Billionaire' before their names as the road side press is apt to do these days. |
izzou:The problem is the follow up unto justice. If everything was done above board the government official(s) can be recalled to query no matter how long ago the incident took place after all they will still be on goverment payroll as pensioners as government is a continuum. But in most cases it is not a question of indiscretion but one of corruption in which both parties are involved so most people will not wish to move forward with cases against the government or its agents. Civil servants a have a unique way of roping in citizens into their schemes in such a way that both parties are bound by secrecy in corruption. Nothing will happen. Years later another set of villainous citizens and government agents will conspire to erect new buildings on those very spots and the cycle will continue. This is very common in Abuja. |
streetsoldier1:Oga, sit down. That is an expansion joint and there is nothing to dispute there. |
Informed people have observed this but in the light of recent high profile engineering failure both at home and abroad one can understand the concern. I think owners of these structures like BI- Courtney should step in and address these components properly because that is not the right treatment and finishing of an expansion joint and is quite frankly unsightly, unsettling and does not inspire confidence. It is a public space, a commercial space. Ordinary people have the right to be alarmed though there is no engineering reason for that. |
That looks like a two in one column where there is an expansion joint. Nothing to consider there. |
If Timo cannot make hay today I cannot see a future for him at the Bridge. He just cannot cut it. |
nelszx:Same thing here. One picture he was obviously alive and the next he was dead..... except if he bled to death and the cuffs removed later. This is not good enough. I would have thought that when there is crime in motion, intelligence is key and thus detention is vital where possible. This is one reason why law enforcement often takes an eternity to arrest challenging situations, lack of intelligence and when emotions overwhelm operatives and they dispose of what little opportunity they have to gather information then the system suffers. A living criminal at hand is of far more value than a dead one. |
mfm04622:No sir. This is simply not true. |
RolexOfGeneva:Not true. Snakes have lungs and breathe oxygen. Even snakes that are aquatic need to surface regularly like humans to breathe. The fact that like every creature able to survive adverse conditions for a while does not mean a snake can live breathing ammonia or hydrogen-sulfide present in a functional septic tank. This is just not true. |
