The value of culture is in relation to society. Cultural practices exist to enhance society. If it isn't then it is worthless. This is what the shop owner should consider. If he feels any practice will disrupt the social cohesion on his premises then he has every right to obsruct such. Society is the key. It will ever remain a game.of numbers. Anyway, we have worse cross cultural challenges in Nigeria. As such most on this forum are not in any position to judge or advice. |
Is DSTV going to show it. |
jurjes:Which kind of high tide is needed?. A.ship is grounded, dug in and you talk of tides that have been coming and going for days now. |
Tonymegabush1:Massive losses and insurance payments loading. Just pity those freighting perishables particularly refrigerated ships. Dem go buy fuel taya. |
tegafej:Must have been driven into the canal sides wirh a great deal of force. The topography of the mideast/north africa suggests the canal sides will be strewn with massive boulders if not a simple dredge will suffice. |
The southern route is barely an alternative. The waters and weather there will be getting more tedious as the southern hemisphere winter slowly creeps in. |
deavicky:When a nation is gripped by autocracy or a democracy that does not work.then accountability top to bottom will suffer leadimg to repetitive tragedies. Dig deeper amd discover those in charge of the system or value chain are there at the pleasure of the President and will be untouchable so nothing ultimately will change or improve. In developed climes the Head of State will not be concerned about the crash of a train or plane because he and the citizens know an inquest will be made and someone or group of people will be punished for it. |
Technology will sort out all these. But basic electoral reforms are still resisted by the promoters of the status quo. |
Very commendable. However leadership rewards are better than monetary ones. |
Agbegbaorogboye:Anti-trust laws are for nations and situations where one is a threat to amother not here where productivity is still infantile and industry barely exists. You need a game before an offside can be called or a foul is committed. Look at the sectors where Nigerians typically invest, road transport, hotels and leisure, retail. Is anyone complaining about a monopoly?, no because 'copycatism' is in our DNA which Nigerians naturally have as an antidote to monopolies. But where we baulk at investment like the infamous sattelite tv industry we scream monopoly. That is low. Folks are quick to point at Dangote but out of the three plants in the Lekki complex, the first to be completed is entering a market that already has established Nigerian players. The second, the refinery will be pioneering, but once again by no fault of his and the third the petrochemical is certainly not new to Nigeria. So rather than blame the man should we not ask our government why they have issued prospecting licenses for 50 years and right up to last week without demanding that these players, most of which have refineries operating in other nations they similarly exploit to establish same in Nigeria. Today gas is being flared willy nilly at the well heads and gatherimg plants..no wahala, until a certain Dangote steps in to convert it all to energy, then he becomes an energy monopoly. Just pray he isn't looking that way. Oga, certain sectors are just too nascent to be called monopolies. |
Subsidy removal should go hand in hand with total liberalisation of the sector. If government (rightly) will not bear responsibility then it should receive no reward either. Government should no be making money on its citizens and as auch the role of the NNPC in refining and distribution comes to question. All because the government will certainly distort the market in favour of whatever political agenda it has. That is why the most successful privatisation adventure of government since independence, the telecommunications sector does not have the government as a player despite Mike Dean's repeatedly shameful.desire to join Manchester United as a striker... |
naijadrivablog:Heard it this morning on the news and could not believe it. The spokesman or whatever said the delay was caused by a component being expected from France amidst the Covid transportation challenges. Can you imagine that the water supply to Capital City of the most populous nation in Africa is grounded because of this. And the man was counring on 'God' to see it come through in the next 24 hours. Now if you talk about insecurity or strategic independence you can see how our leaders think and act. You can see that if France or the EU wants to harm us, it doesn't need to fire a single shot in anger. You can all see.the future of the to be rehabilitated Port Harcourt refinery in the hands of a plan less, ignorant and totally inept government and why critical sectors should not be placed in their hands or left to their monopoly. My area has been having running, epileptic water supply since December last year despite repeated assurances and I guess this is so because there is just no incentive to perform. |
Unclear report but highly welcomed all the same. |
What is Egypt doing with all the money it makes from the canal that it has not invested in redundancies all these decades. If poor Panama could so it, why not. But typical Africa. They wait for trouble before thinking. Look at the pitiable excavator being used to free such a massive ship. What a joke. |
It is just natural that if a football club consistently performs poorly the best talent are unlikely to hang around except for substantial personal gain at the obvious expense of their professionalism. Nigeria continues to slip down the league table of the comity of nations thanks to Sam Alardyce kind of mediocrity. And sime just want out before relegation. |
Pity. Not as if the lion voted for this 'change'. |
His money, his business. |
Though fundamentally not an airport man as development priority one, I think this is highly commendable at a time.like this when the economy of the country remains totalled. They will always say that the best time to invest is before a recovery. Hopefully the next administration at the centre will help make this tool effective in opening up the state and attracting further resources. |
YoungAncient1:Naturally. ![]() |
Well, if a squirrel can manhandle an eagle then we know nature ain't fair. |
kaybee3:Ah, ahhh...ahhhh...so na container dem wan load awa player carry go Benin....abeg oh. |
Chidex50:Oga, 'boat' is a generic description of a WIDE VARIETY of watercraft of all manner of sizes, shapes, configurations and uses. Submarine captains and aircraft carriers all refer to theor vessels as boats. If NFF gives them a dinghy with paddle and rope abeg no vex all na boat. |
By sea is not a mode of transport na the vessel wey matter. If Dangote's yacht is available, no problem....so NFF how are they travelling.... by canoe, jet ski, tugboat, speed boat, hydrofoil, submarine, hovercraft or the damn 'Symphony of the Seas. |
Vaughanlanrewaj:Indeed, to you it is the PFN that is the problem but the government is performing well and Nigeria is blissful abi. Typical 'Struthio Camelus Camelus'... |
Oluolad86:Are you not describing heart failure. You or whoever is concerned should be in an ER, not here. |
My dear Senators, what gives rise to this is the fear of division and disintegration by some other party. Fear is out of dread. Dread comes from a place, a position of weakness. The question now is. What are you getting back or in return for this power you transfer to the other side in the form of assurances. Remember you represent people, not yourselves. People that have generated this potential for you by the agitations you were not a part of. Sacrifices have been made, lives lost, liberties forsaken while you wined and dined with their adversaries. You just cannot afford to throw away guarantees without something tangible for them in return. |
Nice. May your efforts endure Mr. Innoson. |
UstazAhmed:Then the violence will continue and escalate till a point when open grazing will no longer be a viable business practice, i.e.not worth the risk. Mister. There is no creed, culture, practice, law, ordinance that is not subject to review with the passage of time, the evolution of ideas and the reform of society. There is nothing manmade that lasts for ever. Pastoralism either reforms or dies and with your postulation the latter is my guess if your position is widely idealised and accepted. |
humberjade:But that is exactly what he is saying. Those arid places can be re-engineered. Localised climactic environmental impact is reversible with proper, timely intervention. There were reforestation programs in the 80's under the Green Revolution that slowed down the desertification and I believe enabled agriculture last this long far north. Why have those programs been abandoned for decades now, oil. Ranching will require investment, in infrastructure, in the environment and in the value chain and I must say here if this matter was handled properly by a cerebral government a lot of this funding could simply have come from overseas as development assistance. These are the kinds of issues the rest of the world is ready to help Nigeria tackle because climactic impact issues are global and mainly caused by industrialized nations. The catch here is: Are we sincerly seeking solutions or just playing dirty politics with the whole thing. |
All what people want is to take. No one wants to give. What is wrong with organizing a few hands to rebuild the office by direct labour amongst those seeking assistance. But no. He wants the images everywhere so the sympathy will lead to a multi billion naira reconstruction contract. |
Yankee101:They won't because they know corruption and corrupt interests are well served. Don't worry, you will know by the display of materialism by family and friends on social media very soon. |
Why won't it hide them. Dishonest people, claiming to be different from other profligate regimes. |
