Marleek:Not sure this face mask of a thing is effective anymore. This second iteration of the virua appears like a sniper in the night. One thing I have noticed this second wave is the incubation period which has fallen off thw cliff. Last year infected patients will battle for weeks before succumbing to the symptoms. This time around they are dead within a week of infection. |
otokx:That is what government is for, to bridge the gap between manufacturer and consumer by institutions, legislation and structures. No where in the world are durable goods or hard goods or capital goods (whichever catches your fancy) sold on the fly or over the counter. This is why we say government should not be a player in business but an umpire so that it has sufficient resources to create enabling environments for business to be made possible. Bring industrialists, financial institutions and consumers together and let them fashion out a workable solution to the challenge of consumerism and watch the economy take off. |
Totally support PAN on this. You simply cannot make local industries the scapegoat for failed economic policies that has led to run away inflation. If price rises threaten the transportation sector will cheaper aitomobiles solve that? No. Capital costs of durable goods rarely impact on bottom lines. It is the cost of running businesses that is inimical to every sector in Nigeria, transportation inclusive. That is what government should be looking at. Kill industry and you kill off the economy. We cannot continue in this rent seeking mode forever where government policy is always expediency, and to the highest bidder. |
That is why we often say this: 'The most important decisions of one's life are best left to God particularly when it involves humanity'. But you will discover that some attempt to chose LIFE partners with more levity and less diligence than they will inspect the integrity of a park bench before sitting down, calling it love. No man can read the intentions of another nor can man tell the future. Why not we all transfer all these liabilities to our Creator and have peace in return. Such a pity. |
It is time for those who seek to lead this nation post 2023 to come out openly and take a stand on the serious issues bothering this country so we can all debate concrete solutions. Thw time for last minute campaigns that can only throw up vague and phantom promises that cannot be fact checked, graduated and tested for reality is over. Haba, this is 2021 and there is no meaningful voice out there the people of this country can rally around as a beacon of hope forthe future. This is grave. The run up to this calamity of a government in 2015 was even better than this. At least by 2013 serious voices had begun to crystalize against the ruling PDP and the Jonathan government. It appears this time around we cannot even begin to imagine getting something remotely better than this post 2023. That is really sad. |
VaselineCrew:And six months after the 2023 elections they will come here lamenting that they were 'deceived". How 20million people can be simultaneously 'deceived' on any matter befuddles me. Rather it is crass ignorance to have decided who to vote in any election whgetre none, absolutely none of the candidates has started in neither vague nor clear terms how he is going to lead out of the mess Mr. Buhari has made of Nigeria. To add insult to injury, some of them do not even believe there is anything wrong with Nigeria presently spo it bhegs the question, why do you want to lead Nigeria if the present course is right. For oin the absence of political ideology in our nascent democracy, the only value of elections is to change the direction of policy away from previous failings. So what will Mr. Tinubu or any other candidate has spelt out towards governance by 2023 that will have made me decide on the 13th of January 2021 to vote for him in 2023. It is just absurd. |
1.8 for capital expenditure. 3.19 for salaries. That is the summary of Nigeria. Her citizens slaving for her supervisors. And they will steal a chunk of the capital votes. |
MyOpinion1:My dear, the figures are grossly unreported. This thing is spreading like wildfire and killing seriously. Everyday now I receive reports of deaths through medical sources not affiliated to government so I cannot dispute their claims. It is certain we are faced with a different strain some tests are not picking up and so misdiagnoses is the big problem today. The problem of goverment appears to be one of resources as it appears they are not able to sustain the impetus of the initial outbreak probably because the framework for their actions was artificial and most likely overloaded. And they have not been able to develop and industry around containing this virus rather depending on task forces which are expensive to maintain. By now the private sector should have been deeply embedded in this fight but the government wants it all and are now found wanting. The only thing that can prevent a total catastrophe in Nigeria is immunization. But can they do it fast enough before the virus mutates again. |
Originalsly:Oga. Viral infections can lead to terminal ailments. Any death will ultimately result from organ failure and viruses kill by either overloading the system thereby causing a vicious auto immune response or overwhelming the body's defenses so that organs donot receive the right nutrients (supplies, in a layman's term) at the right time and in sufficient quantity. In a nutshell viruses speed up your death. So you can doubt all you like. If you catch the Covid 19 virus today your lifespan is under threat whether you are symptomatic or not. Research is still ongoing as to the long term consequences of exposure. |
! NOSDAVID:But it is a a venture feeding tens and tens of thousands in Lagos and probably a couple of millions round the nation. Hard to consider that every single one of them is occultic and demonic as you portray. I think this is a. Classic case of 'elephantiasis'. That is the ironic description of a big challenge from divergent perspectives of which you have chosen the tail. Only three things you require to succeed in anything on earth from any starting point: passion, knowledge and fortitude. Period. |
StacyO:Hmmm....looking at the fruit before planting the seed is a recipe for total failure. My dear. Do things you have a passion for. Things you can continue 'in sickness and in health, till death do you part'. Nothing. I repeat nothing in life lies at the end of a straight line. |
Happens every minute of the day in the private sector without as much as a whimper. Theu should go and test abeg. The civil service in Nigeria is not value for money and remain in cahoots with politicians in every negativity we see from leadership in Nigeria today. Few wil shed any tears. |
RealAlubarika:Why all this long grammar. He should sack her himself immediately. What is all this sentiment about. This is precisely what is ruining this country. SENTIMENT. That is what separates the experiences we have with modern, developed societies. Black is black, white is white. I sincerely hope this chap is never, ever is put in trust anywhere near government. He can chose to ruin the brother's business if he pleases. My sixth sense tells me it is the chap that is under scrutiny. The brother probably knows what goes on and is looking for a lever to eject the girl. Unfortunately he will have to make two decisions. |
Manoftheyear:Your brother entrusted you with his business and you are still asking for advice about fraud right before your eyes You must be nuts. |
brightalo1010:Christians donot borrow. They live according to their means...amd their means is more than enough. |
OROSUNBOLB:So your police will just go around shooting and killing people because they are supposedly caught in one crime or the other. Do you even understand that it is against international law and that even domestic repercussions could set this country ablaze. Think hard, very hard about what is beginning to emerge. |
This is why we say NO to LYNCHINGS and EXTRA JUDICIAL KILLINGS. Without the teuth and facts thete cannot be justice and without justice there cannot be trust and social stability. Nigeria went through a civil war as a result of exactly these kinds of actions. And these are some of the reasons why naysayers to restructuring are quick to pooh-pooh such a noble concept. If Amotekun cannot put a lid on crime without wanton violence and a trail of bodies it cannot claim to be a law enforcement outfit but a militant vigilante. I remember I did warn about the lack of proper, exhaustive and indepth consultarion for the development of a solid framework that will be acceptable to the citizens of this country and bring stability to the region. I warned that this organisation should be people centric, citizen sponsored and driven, not a government initiative and certainly not a political tool or plaything. . Jusy look at what is has already become even in its infancy.... Yet another proof that the black man, probably the African and certainly the Nigerian just does not have the nature and comportment, what it fundamentally takes to organise anything worthwhile. |
Though I have my reservations about the principle of foreign led development but the Chinese are doing a lot, lot better than european contracting companies when it comes to architectural pieces for public buildings. A case in study is the old and new airport terminals at Nnamdi Zik International built by Ju!ius Berger and CCCCCCCCC... respectively. No comparison whatsoever. For a rail terminal it is gorgeous to say the least. |
Sad. The NCDC is not even scratching the surface of this pestilence. So, so many cases and deaths unreported. |
The Scriptures make it clear that unnatural relationships are a sin before God. No 'buts', no 'ifs'. The Scriptures cannot be broken. Feelings are inconsequential to God. |
jansonn:But when we say restructure your folks say no. We love Nigeria like this. So the "ayes' have it. |
But when we say restructure, your folks say no, 'we want it the ultra hard way'. So be it. |
Kyase:He must have turned to a fossil by now. Some dreams are better left untrue. |
Five billion dollars to Kano. You can imagine how much the fares will be by the time it is completed. A ticket to Kano will probably be going for N100,000. |
Where is El-Rufai when you need him so badly to settle this matter with his bulldozers.... |
Nicolas Pepe has proven he has no place in Arsenal's match day squad. Should be offloaded asap. Funny enough, together with his replacement at Lille, Victor Osimen have both proven to be massive, massive white elephants si far for Arsenal and Napoli respectively. |
favor914:You are mistaken. UNESCO has no authority or means to enforce an economic free zone at any of its selected locations. That is up to the government of the country involved and no reasonable government will deny the economic rights of the indigenous population without compensation or outright relocation. We know how much the EU pays the Cross-River state government to keep its forest reserves and primate sanctuaries. Part of those funds are to create alternative means of livelihood for the inhabitants. It is their land. Their own crude oil. They should be compensated. The Eiffel Tower and the Great Wall of China are UNESCO Heritage sites. Can UNESCO tell the French or Chinese not to profit from them. If they want those places to be closed then cash must change hands, simple. |
isthatso:If it is a heritage site then relocate all the indigenous inhabitants and lock down the place to all but tourists. You cannot have folks living there and deny them basic infrastructure or the right to live or profit off the/their land. It is that contradiction that is causing this problem. ...and by the way the term 'flyover bridge' reverberates as badly as 'ATM machine'. A flyover is a type of bridge that passes or crosses over a road beneath and I cannot see one amongat those photographs. |
Hmmm....or were there na.ked dancers detected in that locality. Where is the morality police sef. Government is mad at everything these days...must be the dry treasury. No crude oil sales to keep them busy. |
Protests are a sign of failure at the previous polls. Next time do due diligence and vote in those who you can control. The only reason government exists is to 'organise society", period. It is the people who decide what they want. |
Can't we rather invest our scarce military dollars in equipment that will cut down the number of casualties in the north-east where troops are complaining about the lack of adequate equipment and stores. Surely the decision to build this vessel will have been made after the insurgency started more than a decade ago....why? |
There is a little known word called 'investigation' that puts and end to speculation. That is why we always call for an end to lynchings, extra-judicial killings and all forms of violence towards criminal siuspects no matter what their alleged offences are. |
