seniormallam:The structure of Nigeria will not allow for the presentation of the best candidates. That is why we say, restructure first and all other things shall be added. We presently derive all !leadership not by competence but by sentiment. Sentiment is written all over this post and governs every debate on this thread while our counterpart citizens from other nations select and empower their leaders based on ideology, ideas and a promise of development and progress. We are stuck with where he comes a from and will elect and empower a 'kangaroo because he comes from Australia'.. |
Lamasta:We have not developed a valet parking culture or industry or whatever. That's why. |
Why are folks hyperventilating over nothing. Its a TOWNship stadium for heavens sake. A county facility. Its standards aptly reflect the strength of our economy and the priority we give to sports. |
Thread so short. Noisenakers have gone to their hamlets where the sun of GSM networks donot shine |
Folks close to this lady should begin to explain to her the fine lines between propaganda and provocation. Her family (if she has one) shiuld begin to distance tgemsekves frim these social landnines she lays or they will be caught up. The End SARS protest should be a stark warning that no one is beyond reach and anyone can be held to account in ways hitherto unimaginable. They should all take a cue from the Office of the Vice President and how more cultured and respectful they are of society and a people close to the cliff edge in not tipping them over. |
voltront:Nyet. There was a slave camp... |
Wow. What 'wonderful' achievements recorded in Abia. |
How is it that such a dangerous procedure is not automated. |
ednut1:We donot operate a monarchial system by Constitution so call the offices of Emir's et al part of an 'institution' not a system. We operate a Constitutional democracy, Presidential type system of goverment.... although in reality it looks and sounds like some autocratic, feudalistic hybrid.... so perhaps you are half right |
Opening a mall at this time and in this depression is quite frankly, balsy. Can only fold my arms and watch. |
BornToSucced:There is no ambience ANYWHERE in Lagos over the holidays. Tried it two years go and it was a massive regret. Beach after beach, it was rowdy and distasteful. Locations were overbooked and long queues everywhere. To some peoples tastes, yes. Me, no. Spent the rest of my vac touring the neighbouring states and major towns to see the sights to burn off my hotel booking. |
Arteta's swansong.... or should I say last rites... |
Ever8090:Poor economy. |
Hmmm....quite reasonable from Minister 'Pantomime'. Was about to say, No vaccine No public scramble. Covid was just rubbing its hands in glee. |
Shows he cannot take care of himself. You have a lot of work to do to make him useful. |
Lovely Mr. Ahmed Musa. A fruitful vine indeed, who will ensure the seeds you sow today become a tree under which many may find refuge and succour tomorrow. Certainly will not be forgotten. |
...unprecedented.... A new high... |
BigSarah:That is inconsiderate. And you know it. Not paying your fair share is costing others dearly. |
Alphagan:The hospital cultute in Nigeria is that ambulances are vehicles of passage not first points of treatment. They donot understand that an apt, professional service increases their chances of success and promotes the image of the healthcare centre. Its all in a culture that pays more attention to funerals than life itself, a society that gives up far too easy in the laps of mediocrity. |
Brunicekid:There is no such thing. Let us not kid ourselves. |
In Abuja they say there is land, there is land. No need to climb. The peoole fall for it and build miniscule buildings called bungalows stretching as far as the eyes can see then the problem starts. No roads, no electricity, no water and the police cannot reach you in case of emergency because you are nowhere to be found thoughtless of fire or ambulance services. If reasonable planning was implemented in a city like Abuja with a view to vertical living, every soul from Bwari to Gwagwalada to Nyanya can be comfortably housed between Wuse and Garki districts alone with superior quality services and manageable cost of living. But it wil only be possible if steel becomes the material of choice in large scale infrastructural projects as a going concern. |
Didn't work yesterday. Wasted my precious time. |
tknyskny:Yes I use GTBank and my BVN starts with 221 and I got mine automatically. But I am concerned government is already snooping around accounts and possible fishing for something. I will keep an eagle-eye on them. Something deeper and darker maybe going on. |
IkpuMmadu:Not intelligent. He is simply appealing to the reasons why the problem exists. We cannot house ourselves quickly and effectively enough because we donot use steel. We have sprawling, congested cities because we cannot build vertically because of steel. So we expand further away into the countryside at alarming pace while in other nations cities are clustered and have limits thus preserving transportation links a bit longer. Two cases. Look at Abuja. Instead of promoting and encouraging multi rise buildings that can keep more people within the cities they rather want the sprawl so gridlock coming into the city everyday when they know they cannot build enough roads quickly. Second. The Lagos metro. Going on for gazzilion years now. If steel was the second material of choice that work will have advanced much faster because its engineering is less intrusive, more flexible and economically stable. You can buy the steel needed for a project in fifty years to come to beat inflation. You cannot buy the cement needed for a project in six months time due to decay. |
Industrial capacity is almost non existent so comparative costs are high. We are not serious about development. You simply cannot advance swiftly and develop expansively without metallurgy. Case in question is the astronomical costs of the present rail infrastructure and the effects in ticket prices which will make roll out and uptake slow and unattractive to independent investors. If steel was a household Nigerian consumer product individuals will build rail lines, communities will build rail lines, companies will build rail lines for their own use just as they build factories and commission trucks and articulated vehicles that are less resilient and economical less viable. We simply have not recognised how great industrialized nations were founded. |
That is why in other nations civil action is sustained until results are delivered. The EndSARS protests in Nigeria a few weeks ago is like taking an incomplete dose of medication. The outcome is worse, far worse than at the start. Nigeria lost the opportunity to sort out one of its most challenging issues, that of police reforms and everyone is short changed. |
Read a lot here but right replies are wafer thin because of certain misconceptions. Funding any ventiure to which you have absolutely no control over the direction and thus destination/outcome is not investing but speculating. So the proper answer to this question should be what you regret doing in the course of piloting your investment and not the choice of the venture itself. For instance it could be not reading the effects of Covid 19 on the Nigerian economy viz the inflationary effects due to loss of productivity. So while some were busy yakking about politics others were stocking up on tangible goods and more imporyantly selling the Naira in anticipation of devaluation, etc. |
If it happens the telecos will all go bankrupt before March. Its a cash business and a volumetric business. No calls, no cash. Service collapses, stock price tanks....and even if it is restored by default a good number of subscribers will have thrown their lines away. I cannot see how the NIN-teleco link up can be effectively implemented any shorter than a full calendar year and even at that it has to be fully digitalised. |
None whatsoever. Tradition and faith don't mix. |
Onepeople:Hmmm....indeed. Don't employ a person you cannot sack. It is organisational harakiri. So do no look twice at family, friends and associates if you want to succeed as an individual, enterprise or nation. |
marvelphysics:No country is an island. They too will be in serious regrets. Poverty will be on the march there again. |
Well Mr. Laid has sent the 'Association of Serial Naysayers' home. They have barely unpacked their luggage and taken a shower, now this. The earliest flight back is next week so.... |
