fergie001:Except you can monitor them and have a say in it, if not they will just become bodyguards to councillors and village heads. Nigeria needs a system of elected lawmen and women to serve the interests of the people. This country is just to large and diverse to have a single central policing system. Community policing is just another layer of beef to the burger. It still kills 'instalmentally'. The biggest challenge to the police/law enforcement in Nigeria is that of accountability. Diversify that as is done in America and impunity will end. |
Oh, so this community policing thing is merely old wine in new wineskin. I thought it was a complete rejigging of the security architecture. This is subscription to failure, plain and simple. Without restructuring nothing in Nigeria can improve. This is all smoke and mirrors. |
Still campaigning deep into the second half. I am beginning to think those 3 unsuccessful attempts at the presidency has caused serious PTSD. |
That is over 60 billion for State House clinic over the past 5 years of this administration and perhaps over 250 billion equivalent since 1999 yet when my folks are called there to perform certain procedures they have to take their equipment along. I guess this country as a whole needs hospitalisation. Sick leaders leading sick people. |
horsepower102:I can see, but allocation after FEC sharing meetings will never allow that. Restructure and we will boss Israel. |
Why are there bags under her eyes. Lack of sleep caused by black coffee and smokes?....Italian combo. All their women have bags under their eyes starting at 20. |
Then why call or attend a press conference if you are not ready to answer questions. A man of his personality should expect controversy. He dishes out so he should expect to receive. Just sinking ever deeper into the mire of depravity. |
The wishy washy economy since independence just cannot support or sustain the kind of tempo to attract profitable investment. It will take near forever to complete. Its getting to two decades now and you can imagine what the exchange rate was when it started. Whoever invested in this thing back then must be near bankrupt by now except the funds were free. |
Queenlovely:The personalisation of goverment, the elevatiin of individualism above institutions..... all vestages of colonialism. Old habits die hard making development harder to attain. |
mmsen:Indeed we will get there. Personally I don't care what you sell. I won't risk my life or any member of my staff. I have warned them all. |
How could he be so ignorant and careless. Endless warnings have gone out over handling large amounts in cash but I guess folks want to learn the hard way. So be it. Any vendor asking for more than 5,000 naira in cash cannot get my patronage. |
titiakins:Well as they say even a candlelight is worth much in the darkest depths of night. I remember vividly some of my early Field Craft Infantry lessons in the Nig. Army. Camo and Concealment to be specific. They will tell you that sounds, smells and lights will give up your position to the enemy. That a lit cigarette a mile away is as obvious as a search light in your face. All the next government has to do is to light a cigarette to the present regime to be obvious. Its that grave. |
Mr. Sanusi, we know he is your friend but we speak about an important national crises of our time involving the demise of hundreds of citizens so I think invitation for a meeting or not pales into insignificance. Also remember that you were recently the victim of injustice and all Nigerians irrespective of tribe and religion spoke out against your state government and if there was an NBA invite accorded to the Kano State governor, you can be sure it would have been withdrawn. |
Ajebaba:Comfort or spank them... ![]() In other climes investigators will be determining criminal negligence and will probably take orher kids into protection if a case is made. And how are the authorities sure she 'was playing and fell'... because no coroner will issue a death certificate until cause leading to death is determined |
We don't need more than half a dozen ministries so one minister from each geopol zone if you want to be politically correct. All other minsteries should be downgraded to commissions by aggressive commercialisation and privatisation initiatives backed with an extremrly slim exclusive list. Two ministers per overbloated number of useless ministries is tantamount to economic sabotage in a poor, retarded country like this whose annual budget is declining to US County levels in real terms. |
Cannot be true. Perhaps a hundred, but certainly not a thousand. That is a whole local government's allocation. There is no Oba, Emir or Eze that powerful. |
Miracle1991:From the little I know of this issue and that raised by this writer the main crux is: The powers to remove trustee members of without due legal process, and The powers to appoint replacements without due consideration. Such powers he feels should not be conferred on any individual particularly if such a person is not of the same faith. I don't think any organisation in any walk of life will not question these regulations, not to talk of a society so 'religiously' volatile as ours. I think they (the authorities) should give it more thought. |
bakobenjamin198:You can do better than this. Even babes in the faith know that Jesus is the name given to The Word of God by God to conduct his earthly ministry. When a person says he sits with Jesus, converses with Jesus, honours Jesus, worships Jesus.... when God says all power in heaven and on earth has been given Jesus, it simply refers to the Word of God, the Scriptures as it relates to us. Why we say Jesus is that we want to personalise the conversation because the core of the Christian faith is all about relationships. We do not see God as IT but as He, a personality, God Almighty. That is how God wants us to relate to Him. The Word, Jesus the Christ, the Messiah, the Redeemer, the New Testasment Advocate, the Son of God, are all names that describe the same personality as some on earth choose to call themselves Doctor, Chief, Mr, Honourable, etc depending on what context you wish to address them. |
Traviscottt:What is wrong with you folks. I don't do reports. I do not post any topics on this forum. I only air my views on what is happening on the front cover of the magazine and when I have the time. I stopped talking about Coivid 19 almost two months ago. That is a different person, perhaps working with the NCDC. |
Openbusiness:And you can see how poorly that strategy has worked over the years. You spend so much on one man in a team sport like football you have nothing left to invest on other team players and positions requiring upgrade. That is why the Barcelona squad has not been replenished with the best talent in the world. They feel they can have Messi and ten muppets and still win trophies. It can work in Laliga, but in Europe they have seen for many years that football remains a team sport. |
Dehumanising. When you tell them that God's solutions are founded on dignity, they sneer at you and call you names while the gods they serve drag them through sub human practice's. Anyway the righteous God is about the needs of the humble and comntrite not the greed of the vain and prideful. |
Foresight is not one of the things the blackman is naturally blessed with. Few consider legacy an important ideal. We are sons of Esau, the here and now people. We only excel at regret and cry over spilled milk. |
Hmmm....we better get the bandits to protect us then innit... |
GboyegaD:But when we say restructure folks say it is unnecessary. That the sharing of resources is the problem of Nigeria. We can now see what the problem of Nigeria is. We can see why this country is irredeemably broken. We can see why nothing works in Nigeria. Anything from any anti corruption initiatives, to economic blueprints, to the growth of democracy, to security matters, the institutionalisation of processes, absolutely nothing that works well in other nations happen here. We just do not share common values and until we sit round a table and decide amongst all ourselves what is right and wrong, white and black, one and two, and how to live with one another we simply cannot move forward. |
Ijaya123:Are they not the ones he invites for meetings, open door, closed door, Council of this and that. Has he ever asked any of the accused to explain? If you are the CEO of a serious enterprise and your auditors are overheard alleging various departmental heads are creaming off the books won't you ask questions at the next management meeting especially if that meeting is to discuss budget cuts, a loan request and the dire financial straits the company finds itself. Will you wait for the auditors to present the case at year end or go absolutely ballistic on the felons who watch the company beg for survival while they dance to the gravy train. Has Mr. President asked Mr. Akpabio about all the sickening, lurid stories he hears frim the National Assembly? If I 'EXPOSE' the snake eating my poultry eggs and one or two weak birds and I pat it on the head can I be called a serious farmer?... mbok, nothing is happening. Corruption is alive, well and thriving in this goverment without remorse and the closer 2023 approaches the worse it will get when war chests have to be built and the old man at the rock weakens and trades his resolve for a safe post leadership landing. |
In a government that has as its mantra, the fight against corruption let me ask this question? Are there any MDA's left untouched by this intractable scourge. What is going on? From the CBN to Aviation, from Niger-Delta to North East Development, from Ministry of Petroleum to Sports, to Agriculture to Communications to Information to Transport to Humanitarian to Education to Foreign Affairs to Health to the Presidency to Police Affairs to the Military to Customs and to the EFCC itself.... biko are there any left unstained, un compromised.?... Are there any saints in this heavenly, holy government ? Or is stealing now official government business.? Chai. It has never been this dramatic, this fantastic and this elastic. I think it is safe to say that what ever fight is going on against corruption must be scripted by those behind Wrestlemania.... All excitement, boisterous rhetoric, well oiled steroid pumped muscles, choreographed high wire moves but in the end, it is all for the money.... no one gets hurt... Who is getting punished for all these. No one. |
Was he not the one called 'Roadblock' in Hasbro's first instalment of GI Joe. |
Nigerians can clearly see that there are no common VALUES shared amongst her constituents. There is not a single positive issue on earth that unites Nigerians. Nothing we can all agree is right or wrong to make this country move forward. Nigerians have no common patrimony beyond the sharing of resources. Nothing positive or aspirational to rally around. Ethnicity, religion and creed will continue to divide and stifle this country for eternity until we can restructure it by sitting down to negotiate values and decide how we live together as a people concerning as in this specific case: .... what standards of conduct we expect of leadership across board because it appears these northern goverments feel the conduct of Mr. El-Rufai in goverment is right and his broad based treatment of ethnic minorities in his state is commendable. To that he is above reproach and undeserving of social sanctions. No country can berth this kind of ship. |
With all their insurgency problems.... this is bad, really bad. The country may be over run. |
Ijawwomaninoyo:Hahaha... Freaking EGGROLL!!!! ... The staff canteen must be shutdown with immediate effect before the hungry techies rename Mr. President. |
sexylassie2:And capitalism says set fire to those moribund refineries and burn them to the ground for good. Capitalism says send those Apo bulldozers to the NNPC Towers and send those economic rats, grasscutters and other vile critters scurring for their burrows, thrn turn the land to an amusement park. At least let us have fun with our national assets for once in our damn lives. That is capitalism for sure. |
And yet the goverment is still ever wasteful, throwing money into pits and crevuces and down sinkholes. I saw a headline saying 120 billion spent a year keeping the refineries on life support instead of quiet euthanasia and a decent funeral. We are not tired of suffering. I pity no one. |
