Seetto:But he was made, selected by Tinubu just as the present governor was made and selected by Tinubu. What stops the same mistake happening. again. Say no to imposition, period. Grow multiparty democracy for sustainable devlopment. Nigeria is not a monarchial state. |
What is wrong wirh you folks. Is this a crime and investigation website. What is with all these sordid stories all over the cover. Or are the mods sympathetic to south african allegations. |
Ceoking6:Then when they do take up interest they will be called the 'policemen of the world', 'neo-colonialists' and other colourful lingo our shortsightedness can imagine. |
wiseone28:Hmm.... with their forwards snarling and sniping at each other like typical African barbarians.... |
kikake:Solid thought. Crawl before you walk phenomenon.... |
Someone is probably living in that office, fulltime book cook. |
Fair end to a disastrous life. Left your country in shambles and your people in dire straits. Wiped out completely the efforts earlier made and revereses all the strides. A synoposis of how a man should not live and die. A ruined legacy that can never be retrieved. |
Can you see why we DONOT SUPPORT SELF HELP, LYNCHINGS and ANY EXTRA-JUDICIAL ACTIONS no matter where they occur and no matter who is involved. Yes, including that suspected thief in the market stripped, geaten and burned alive, and yes, that pastor alleged to be involved in ritual activities. If you can support the maiming and killing of your fellow citizens on unproven allegations calling that justice then you have no case whatsoever against crazy South Africans who do similar based on speculations, heresay, vice, envy, whatever, that neither gives an opportunity to the victims to defend themselves in a court of justice. Jungle justice does no one any good be it at home or abroad. No one is the wiser as to what, why and how about the crimes, the criminals, their networks, associates and modus operandi when justice is truncated such as to properly handle such incidents and make for a better society moving forward because ALL is lost to impulsive barbarity. Say no to hypocrisy, say no to escalating violence anywhere it is found. |
philip0906:The Has nothing to do with poverty. Travel and transportation is a choice anywhere in the world. Has nothing to do with economic status. Some simply don't like to fly while others live their entire lives in a city and thats it. |
Congratulations. |
anonimi:That is the way it works. Pressure doesn't mean you hate him or oppose him but democracy works well in a power flux where the operators were in constant tension and pressure. This is something the person of, the handlers and fanatics of Mr. President and others donot understand and thus the paltry return on electoral capital. |
UncleJudax:This tone sounds a tad apprehensive, sounds fearful... in quiet hope. The fact is. Why are people so scared of government. Why do I feel Nigerians just roll the dice and hope the politician elected lands on a six. Democracy doesn't work like that. It is not a game of wait and see. The performance of any elected official is directly proportional to the input of the citizens of that locality. They are public servants and have to be directed. They are political horses to be ridden. You cannot direct a horse hoping it will take you to whre you need to go. If Makinde is not directed he is unlikely to succeed in delivering the expectations of the people. Politicians are voted in and out based on their willingness or not to be ridden by the people not as assumed by their works. Theresa May lost out because she could not deliver Brexit in the manner people wanted. She could not bring herself to cook the meals they wanted. She was not the brain behind Brexit just the operator. Now what are the performance criteria the people of Oyo have set before Makinde by which they will decide if he should continue betond 2023 or be kicked out. This is why I rarely praise governments, because the best they can do is what I ordered for in the first place. You simply donot praise your employees for doing the jobs you pay them for. Our expectations in this country are far too low and this is borne out of lack of knowledge of what democracy means, how it works for people and what magnitide of power the citizens wield in any political setup |
philip0906:I think it is more about the courage to change the status quo. You can imagine if it was the former governors puppet that won or some goddam son of a godfather... Makinde knows he has shallow political roots so he must perform or get blown away next time. This should be an eye opener to other states that have remained one party fiefdoms or are under the spell of feudal godfathers.... you just don't know what you are missing... |
Shrugs... With the way the national grid keeps collapsing who won' want to go into the transmission business and operate his own dance hall.... sorry Discoteque as well. Who will dare steal an energised transformer... |
MondayOsunbor:Means that you can actually get a license to operate an Egyptian Pyramid right here in Nigeria. Means that you can legally operate a financial sepulchre.... isn't that cryptic coming from the poster.... |
Nigerians and the larger african community have a scant say in this. We are far worse towards each other. Let is leave this talk to those abroad.... 'Nairaland Europe'.... |
That was a very stupid decision. She should know that a pin hole will eventually flatten a tyre, collapse a dam or crash an aircraft. Naysayers will now characterize and thus discard the Nigerian response to that of the thieving mob and not from a higher ground of effective intellectualism. |
Nigerians cannot even summon a shred of unity on how to respond while their noses are pulled through the mud by a more determined and fiercely focus foe. There is nothing we go through we won't have a cowardly reason to justify. Iam sure if it our rave Hitler gassed into oblivion most will belong to the Nazi party and even struggle to lead it. We are truly a cowardly race. |
okeyumez:Then let their Nigerian workers speak out. Their compatriots are being torn apart abroad. A wise philospher once said, 'Duty has no sweethearts'. These incidents will teach Nigerians how to unify around a cause and to sacrifice for all. |
samwise180:Where is the present Senate leadership..... |
alphaNomega:To you na. That is why you are getting poorer year after year. Don't you know what loss means. No value created, just depreciation. |
The same goveenment that wants to take over the power sector enterprise.... I just laugh.... |
Racoon:'Die' as in the containment vessel used to hold molten metal while it cools and solidifies. The expression used ro connote fate accompli, something almost irreversible, terminal. |
Nukilia:Crisis?.... what crisis?.... I thought the government is doing fantastically well.... oh well, what do I know. Enjoy your Nigeria. |
ItsMeAboki:Yet when others want to 'Assert' themselves it now becomes a problem.... |
Desperately trying to create room for a January buy. I think Emery and the board realises this season is already in serious jeopardy without a marquee defender. Another season out of the Champions League will be a major dent on their finances. Appears sponsors are voting with their feet. Something serious is happening upstairs and behind the scenes. Ususally by this time Arsenal should be announccng new sponsorship deals. |
Stillthebest:Yeah, I remember that banking part as a kid when momsie took me along to his office when she was processing her BTA. Nice man. Offered me tea and biscuits. He supported her businesses back in the day with credit facilities. |
Ekpeitit:Most will be in a jail as big as a state capital and your government will certainly not be this one. Be careful what you imagine. |
seguntijan:Lagos and Tinubu are exactly in the same position. As long as he holds sway Lagos can simply not improve beyond this point. It maybe the one eyed man amongst the blind, the London of Nigeria but it still remains third world by all international indices and standards and can do better if democracy is allowed to work. Can you honestly say governance has improved in Lagos since May 1999.... or even May 2019.... Be honest. Now can you imagine the expectation and impetus a new government will have had in Lagos.... |

I agree but in a political system the party is the platform on which these folks operate. The party puts them up for election so it bears responsibility. If you know Abia politcs well you will know Ikpeazu is tied to the laces of TA Orji. The last time I checked they are not relations not even from the same constituency. They are bonded in strange secrecy and misgovernance by party affiliation so the party has to be accountable. It is also clear that to break the viscious cycle of misgovernace the support structure of that chain has to be removed and this is the removal of the party from power. The choices are stark. Anyone elected under the PDP will not be able to operate outside the influences of the preceding leaders. Uzor Kalu started the train but since he decamped to the rival APC he has been criticised and his sins uncovered yet the sins of his erstwhile son TA who was far worse are being covered up and his failures protected. Democracy works well when visvious cycles are repeatedly broken and I will continuosly say this. The fear of power loss is the only way democracy works for good governance. If a people, citizens, make the tragic error of assuring power to any set of leaders their future is a guaranteed, total loss. Positive performance in any sphere of endeavour is indirectly proportional to time. Even the world God cteates is decaying thoughtless of intents of mischievious men. Abians should let the PDP go if they are to smell development. I have nothing against the PDP or personally against the amiable governor Victor Ikpeazu but his hands are tied by the nature of the beast. |
Completely true. Abia is being held hostage by a group of political jobbers not fit for governance. The state is in a mess. Nothing is working. I cannot understand why they continue with the PDP when it is clear the party is interlinked from past to present, every governor selected and appointed by his predecessor. This is why I consistently advocate for restructuring to uncouple states like these from central government so that failures can become complete failures and successes can become attractive. So that people can realise what is right. |
Martinez39:Thay is footy I'm afraid. No king reigns forever. Barca is beginning to have a taste of the coming post Messi blues.... inconsistent results. Dropped 5 points in the first 3 matches... |
