safarigirl: it is a Nairaland phenomenon ALONE
The people on this site are sad, that is why they only see things from a negative standpoint. They posted this story in Twitter and instagram and everyone had nothing but jokes and laughs. But on this site, you find only comments from bitter and hateful people. Joyless people that live to judge others for the slightest thing.
Did you see the original post? No. Somebody came and posted what they liked, none of you saw the original post, but the first comments and many more are insulting the lady, calling her all sorts of names even with the scraps they have for information. Your lives are so sad that you can't imagine women making jokes like this. They must be hos and gold diggers
Nairaland is filled with kids and sadists. Terrible humans that only embrace negativity. Just look at this thread and see it Yes, that is the perspective they see it. If anyone feels hurt by that, he or should not be posting on a very public forum. When people air their lives on social media they unavoidably generate a social discourse. If one is that sensitive he or she should quit the public gaze. Why not send Mbape a private message instead. If it had all turned out fine and the athlete had taken 'the joke' seriously she will be the envy of her mates and praised for being able to 'fell a great tree', but.... For goodness sake don't tell me you have NEVER, EVER been critical about someone and probably someone you've never met on social media because I will not even begin to believe it. Yes dpcial media thewprld is filled with sadists, tribalists, racists, anarchists and every representation of the basest of humanity but so is society. If she me Kylian on the strrstreets of aris chances are she sould get a far worse treatment from his retinue of body guards. It certainly won't be a joke then. Why don't folks just act like me and simply ignore negative vibes. Why do you guys get so easily worked up over....nothing. |

safarigirl: the girl was joking. Did you see the post? Which bandwagon did she join? See, there is a reason why Nairaland is a joke to most people these days. The blogger came to title the headline "girls lashes out" there was no lash out. Nobody here saw the actual post, and they just started posting in blissful ignorance, insulin somebody probabky doing better than them in this life because dem no get common sense of humor
Mature people on the actual post laughed about it, but sad people on this site will not see a joke even if it slapped them in the face What is the problem about representing an issue in a different light. If the lady could drag her elephant to the streets of global media she should expect differing opinions. One man's joke is another man's insult. There is liberty on the net. Folks just want to express themselves even if it is tangential to the target. And its not a Nairaland or Nigerian phenomenon alone. |

This is what happens when democracy doesn't exist. If the will of the people prevailed then allthese teios and banter back and forth will be unnecessary. The people will decide and others will simply watch. But because successive governments in Lagos had been selected, not elected, everyone now feels entitled to chip in. It is a pity front line democrats in that region have been reduced to this.
Just let the people decide without interference or intervention on behalf of any party (Olu or Ambode). |

Myhighdreams: Unijos bad days
So I closed from service, meet some few friends, Happy it was a great Sunday, Heading towards the village gate, then *BOOM* it all started.
This guys moving towards the gate, with all form of weapons, trying to get in to harm students, then *BOOM* there was an *ALUTA* call, students and residents of russau came out with weapons to protect themselves.
*MR* *VC*, FOR HOW LONG ARE WE GOING TO PROTECT OURSELVES, ARE WE NOT STUDENTS, aren't WE ENTITLED TO SECURITY..
Here I was, with my small stick on my hand yearning, *GREAT* *JOSITE*, Since the school cannot protect us we have to do it ourselves, there at the other side of the road where also a group of boys, trying to attack us, we fought like soldiers in war, we defended our territory, within a twinkle of an eye, Gun shots all over the place, we were helpless, we were running, I took cover behind compound 14, we looked up, we saw kums lying helplessly on the floor, WAS HE SHORT? YES, we dragged him, he was bleeding helplessly on the head, TEARS ROLLED DOWN MY EYES, I SAW MY FELLOW *JOSITE* in pain, and couldn't do anything..
After your child, spent years writing jamb, spent years looking for admission, then imagine a call telling you HELLO YOUR SON IS DEAD, GOD FORBID.
For a moment, I couldn't feel my head, people injured, kums lying lifeless, it looks like the men on green joined forces with the other guys, bullets all over our territory, but none going to their territory, are this really soldiers, I don't think so, here I was with my small stick on my hands, don't know what will happened next, I went to a corner, sobbed like a kid, because I don't even know what will happen next.
FOR HOW LONG are #JOSITES going to die, the will tell us let peace reign, after we have allowed the peace to reign then the strike us again, and we get killed, I am tired of seeing my fellow josites die, that bullet could have hit anybody, what if it was me, because I was not far away from that dude.
I was without shoes, my shoes came out I didn't know where it was, I can't even remember were I kept my bible, then in the evening The soldiers came entered the hostel, begging us to drop our weapons and we dropped it, so that's how it ends, students died like that and all you can do is tell us drop our weapons like seriously.
Its high time josites gets the necessary security measures the are entitled..
#iAMaJOSITE #SAYNOTOINSECURITY..

Xander85: Spot on!
If many of these regulatory bodies were up and doing instead of trying to suck up to gov't, then we wouldn't be having as many poorly designed and constructed projects all over the place! Even the high incidence of building collapse would be drastically reduced! There is currently no legislation empowering bodies like COREN from setting standards or enforcing standards. They can only act when invited and then only offer suggestions, no more. They are not a supervisory body for public works but a regulatory body for engineering professionals...individuals not institutions. Here as a nation that has a penchant for destroying institutions this suits us profoundly. |

Said it way back. When you don't have external opposition, internal infractions are inevitable. So many great, all conquerig empires from the Mongols to the Romans have found. You simply cannot act againat the tenets of democracy and expect democracy to work for you.
In the coming decades the abaolute destruction of democracy in Lagos will come to haunt the state when others will have planted and established firm democratic structures for progressive and sustainable government development Lagos will be grapling with a post Tinubu political apocalypse where the streets will rule enclaves of power. Ask Cote D'Ivoire after the long standing authoritarian regime of Houphet Boigny. They are yet to recover.
Wise men instead of advocating for strong men, rather seek the establishment of strong institutions. The black man however is lost on this wisdom.
The rule of man can only last but the breathe of his nostrils and the vanity of his thoughts. |

This will get interesting... The other guy may win... But opposition will be much more in Lagos now... Pdp will surely have some seats in the state house.. And certainly some local governments
Then there will no more be jagabanism in Lagos...
Only if ambode knew... The opposition you suffocate today may be your succor tomorrow... Well said. Lagos is now a full blown feudal state, even more overbearing than a monarchy. And when the king eventually passes on, the wars for sucession willl be better imagined. By then other competing democratic states will have long progressed beyong them. May we live in interesting times. |

These are the matches Arsene Wenger will have wanked off. Good teams grind out results. In the league consistency is everything.
You can imagine all the years Arsenal lost as a club hanging onto the old French man when opportunities to sign marquee gaffers came.and went from the Tuchel of PSG to the Don himself Diego Simeone.
What the players always needed was a kick up their backsides but all Wenger consistently kicked was the pitch side water bottle.... |
