This is the result when you don't institutionalise government programs and policies like the so called fight against corruption. |
Indeed. We want the competition to be about ideas not rhetoric. About solutions not complaints. How I wish we had a fraction of the parliamentary system and both Atiku and Obi were the tip of the shadow government, debating policy and government actions at every turn. The authors of the edict proscribing campaigns till the eve of elections are undermining our democracy. We need to lift that anchor inorder to sail into the future. We need constant organised political critique from the day a new government is sworn in till it finishes then we can safely and effectively sift the wheat of performance from the shaft of sentimemt and maladministration. We need that edict repealed. We can no longer give a free pass to government electees to do as they please for three and a half years unchecked. The so called excuse of political distraction is false. Politicians need to be constantly on their toes, then perhaps they will give more time researching ideas and not practicing dance steps. |
If the government cannot de-escalete this situation when it remains a civil unrest, they should be prepared to reap the whirlwind when it becomes a full blown armed conflict. The use of deadly force against civilians is totally wrong and symtomatic of failed governance and a patent lack of ideas. Those who suffer socially, economically and tragically from the present Boko Haram conflict should talk sense into this government. I see no reason why no concerted effort has been made in the secret and in the open to discourse with this sect in order to resolve all issues around this conflict. And the army as an institution should know this. They cannot achieve their mandate as an institution in securing the entity called Nigeria if they donot consolidate the ideals of the vast majority of the people it is supposed to protect. To antagonize the citizenry of this country constantly will undermine their credibility and abilities. No one will sympathize with the army and other security agencies if this situation gets out of hand and they begin to fall victim like it is happening in the northeast presently. War should be the very, very, very last option when all, all, all other options have been exhausted. |
By 2019 everyone will be demystified. |
MissJoy29:Actually the data is subjective. Yes they say planes are the safest and your humble automobile is the most hazardous means of transport. Indeed what goes for aircraft is compounded miles per incident. Yes planes travel very, very far before eventually falling out of the sky, but by every means do realise that there are a lot, a lot more cars carrying a whole lot more people on a daily basis round the world so you can excuse the horrendous figures. But a point of note. The bulk of accidents are caused by human error in every transport segment so to lower the statistic and your chances of being involved in an accident, ply a means that has the largest number of passengers per unit operator. A car will typically 4 plus 1, a bus 14 to 90 plus 1, an aircraft 100 to 700 plus 2 to 3, a train typically 100 to 1000 plus 2 to 3, and the safest of them all, an ocean liner tyoically 2000 to 4000 plus 5 to 10 decision makers. Transport safety is relative and subjective. Donot take the stats at face value. The devil is in the detail. When an aircraft goes down it literally makes waves. |
SarkinYarki:They are the best and most reliable aircraft ever built. The report to the fact that it climbed unevenly before crashing will immediately suggest preflight checklists were probably not done properly and the control surfaces not configured for the flight plan attempted. Just my two cents. |
teegeealiu:His presence alone will have elevated the game play of the rest of the team. For Marcelo to be on the Madrid score sheet says a lot about the Madrid frontline and with Ronaldo scoring twice yesterday it is becoming clear that it was Madrid that needed Ronaldo not the other way round. Can't say the same for Barca. They may have a better life expectancy beyond Lionel Messi. |
This Madrid gaffer will be sacked before breakfast. At the rate they are going they may not even qualify for next seasons champions league. |
Now that you are in power why not pursue those lofty dreams. Instead of selling your principal by listing how much progress you have made in restructuring after three years in power, you typically act like Nigerian politics is a crab bucket. Mister, your legacy in that aspect is ruined. Just sit down please. You will give account later in life....in your memoirs |
I'd prefer if he had done more in his four years to de-escalate the constant upheavals. That would be an achievement, not this. He was elected to improve the well being of the citizens of the state not act as a fire fighter. And if he cannot do this the people of Kaduna should find someone else who will at the polls or extract solid commitments that he will find a lasting solution if he should be returned. Our threshold for the performance of public servants should rise to the challenges that exist. I cannot see anything in these pictures or discourse that shows the people expect more than they experience. What is there to show that another four years of El-Rufai in government will not result in these quarterly incidents. The state cannot grow this way and no serious economic investment will take root if the people don't rise above social mediocrity. |
dragnet:Use your head Oga. The assailants will stop EVERY vehicle and fish out folks not from their religion for the slaughter. The driver must have realised his passengers were not of his religion or the passengers must have pleaded with him to save them. All reports after the incident. |
okenwaa:Detail is lost on the black man. Read again.... |
chrisxxx:....hmmm....haven't thought of that... ![]() |
This is a bribe. The EFCC should not hesistate to book him down for end of immunity blues. The way these people squander tax payer funds is shocking. This system must change. You give money to a body that does not pay tax is regression. |
theoldpretender:Did I not tell you folks not to subsidize the dollar in order to stimulate more local production. Now that Mr. President has squandered all the good will he will not be able to implement any hard hitting reforms. We are stuck in a viscious cycle. I hope Mr. Emefiele is happy. At least be will not get the blame when our debt eventually sinks us. To borrow into an unproductive system is a cardinal financial sin. |
Falz will be like.... |
It is hard to imagine what threat the lady posed to the policeman that deadly force was required in the course of duty. He should be charged accordingly. However I want to be an advocate of law enforcement today. I wonder why folks think that disobeying a lawful order of a policeman is right in every way by a sane and capable citizen. If the victim here was disabled and could not disembark from the vehicle or perhaps could not understand the language of communucation as in a foreign country, that is excusable. But for goodness sake, there is no policeman in the world who will accept at face value the disobedience of a lawful order. At least the person involved will be escalating the situation. Be it in the United States or Japan, 'if you are told to exit your vehicle' you will exit that vehicle one way or the other so why escalate the situation. As a matter of fact even if the order is considered unlawful, consider this. The policeman doesn't know you and so has no sentiment attached to you that differs from the vehicle previously stopped. You could be a felon, an armed robber or a terrorist. Are these expected to disobey orders too. Does society expect the policeman to agree that criminals pick and choose what to obey and what not to. In peculiar situations sometimes you see a citizen disobey, confront and even brawl with law enforcement officials and at the end of the day, the matter is settled, the policeman (men) are appeased and the perpetuator goes his way having not obeyed the order....I will say only in Nigeria does this happen. What if he had stolen property in his trunk, or a kidnap victim or what if the vehicle itself was stolen. In decent societies the police cannot be pleaded with, induced or appeased to ignore what was their duty and responsibilities either by the public or by their colleagues. I have never seen that happen. Once the citizen rolls it can only go south for him. Of course not every policeman is right and not every order is legal but in Nigeria your best bet is to work up the food chain till you get to the point where professionalism exists. Even if the policeman at the check point is drunk and disorderly, just obey. You stand a better chance at finding reason with his superior in the squad car and if the whole group is perceived wrong you stand a better chance at the station. Yes, we all acknowledge that the police is largely problematic and may not be up to scratch in many ways but a lot of people are just too naive and totally ignorant of how things work. That anywhere in the world you are making things more difficult for yourself and endangering your life if you escalate what is hitherto a civil situation. Just obey then recourse. |
Best news I've heard in months. But please it should be via the vehicle of education, enlightenment and incentives only. |
princfred:He is a linear striker. You need to set him up, lay it on a plate for him to score. His first touch is awful, close control poor and he doesn't have the skill to dribble past a mannequin. Jose mistakenly thought he was buying a Drogba. Got a tree trunk instead. Even someone like the late Yekini made up for his poor on the ball skills with a blistering pace and a cannon shot. The only thing Lukaku can do comfortably is to shield, hold up the ball and a decent heading ability. Everything else is MLS standard. |
Yeah, just listening to the crap on Nig Info and the guest is saying, by what power, quoting what out of the Koran or Bible that causes the Veepee to freeze in his tracks and not take action. My additional question is, 'how did they get your phone number in the first place'. My third question is, ' did he accomodate such calls on behalf of rogue staff when he was building his law practice'.... This is just buck passing. Oga Pastor Veepee you promised to fight corruption. We want testimonies about the the battles and victories not the white flag waving, excuse peddling ceremonies. If you will not pick calls and considerrafter a short while they will not call you again. They may go over your head or mobilise the armed forces to gate crash the establishment from which they have been banished but you will have a testimony of fights not surrenders. Once you listen to the call you are as guilty as a man who stares at a woman lustfully as the Bible says. Such a man has alreeady committed fornication with her already. |
Dpharisee:We are not pondering anything. We constantly say restructure to eliminate all those ills, you guys say no. So stew in Hobson's choice. |
Good development. |
That is why couples should pay close attention to the development of their daughters. Education, career development and mentoring should be taken with all seriousness. Nough of this nonsense. |
One of the stupidest things I have ever heard a government official speak. This is shameful. |
immaculate1234:I donot have a team I support but I love to watch Arsenal play and yesterday's match is one of the reasons that Arsenal remains everyones alternative team. In their flow they make you enjoy watching football. In their flow they have no idol to be upheld and worshipped. In their flow they are a proper soccer team. And all with players who perhaps will never win the PFA thoughtless of the Ballon d'or. We thought the silky game was 'Wengeresque' and will end with his exit but it appears it has become engrained in the DNA of the team. |
HaileSelassie:But you must commend Unai Emery. His first match in England managing a psychologically depleted team against the defending champions and then taking the game to Chelsea before this long run of victories shows he is doing something right to the psyche of the team. They may not win against the traditional top four but I donot expect they will be run over either. |
Bluffly:No one is organising a beauty contest between coaches. I did not mention Emery in my report. The issue is strictly about the management of the club and their inability to see the long term decline in the coaching department under Wenger and the corrosion of club's values. This should be a lesson for you once you go into management. The core of the players you saw today and the team that has gone on this streak is essentially Wenger's. How the new gaffer is able to change the mentality on the pitch of play is down to a rebooting of the coaching department (not necessarily the abilities or inability of Emery) which should have been done several years ago when even more illustrious coaches, a few better than Emery were on the market. In summary whether Emery succeeds or not in the short term or long, Wenger stayed too long, period. No one is flattering anybody. |
Told you guys that Wenger should have gone much, much earlier. Almost 7 wasted years under the former gaffer. |
I think the biggest winner here is Ganduje. With his party members falling out like dominos there is no way the haemorrhaging APC will move against him or the President (cy) pursue any corruption case against him. They will sore need him warts and all. |
