EmekaMD:Indeed and I have said so often. So on that part democracy in Lagos does not exist. This is pure and unadulterated feudalism. However the part of democracy thay enables an incumbent from being removed on account of non performance appears to be at play here which is very positive. My summary is that let whatever decison on who runs.and doea not and who is elected and is not be a people popular decision and not that of a clique, cabal or king. That is real democracy. |
echelons:Where you work, where you work.... I don't know how old you are but some day you will need to establish a business so that you can be a net contributor to society, then you will be able to seperate the wheat from the chaff and know the big difference between the narrow perspective the clamour for pay rise is and the clamour for good governance which is far better and makes for a more sustainable economy that supports good wages. The company that employs you will not automatically prosper once a new minimum wage is announced. On the contrary it will hurt their bottom line even if they are into crude oil production and you will experience the backlash sooner than later, one way or the other. Expect tectonic shifts in the labour market as employers downsize to balance their books and the best and brightest move to the public sector to displace the dullards there currently angling for more money despite their low productivity. We are definitely in for an economic crises and this government like its predecessors has not handled the matter wisely. Just like the fuel susbsidy regime any 'right pricing' of fuel, energy or wages should have been planned instalmentally and appropriately in tandem with inflation or as someone suggested, in tandem with the exchange rate (I disagree with the latter because our exchange rates are artificially deceptive and do not reflect the realities of our productivity as a nation). Then these piece meal demands for wage increases will have been a good barometer for government to get serious about the economy. The UK does that. It tracks wages against inflation and it helps them manage their economy better. In Nigeria no one cares. They do nothing till a collapse is imminent or a tragedy has occurred. We blacks are just impossible. |
Vain glory gone wrong. Military hardware displays have been suspended for several years now due to the almost complete collapse of inventories. It was always going to be a risk restarting them. |
harrisonford001:I can decide to emigrate to most countries at a drop of a hat but that will be he laysy thing on my mind. Few countries out there attract me for any reason including holidaying, however I am the harshest critic of Nigeria and Nigerians you can find around. Patriotism is having your country at heart and having a deep seated desire to see her prosper. For a country more often down than up it involves telling the truth no matter how bitter it is. So, once again, this country and the way it is structured can never develop. And I mean it. There is no way we can fundamentally and sustainably improve with the way our people think and act presently. |
Let no one by deceived by some vain acts of contriteness. The people of Osun voted in the APC government. They alone made that decision. They cannot pretend it was under duress as someone was trying to suggest to me. Elections remain clandestine and they had an opportunity to contact law enforcement if they were intimidated. They made a profound choice and sent the wrong message to power. |
InvertedHammer:Same thing I was saying months back. A man worth a couple of billions (naira) and posessing a few pricey items will employ a house help or security guard or whatever they are called and pay him ten thousand naira to secure himself while he sleeps and snores loudly.... Is the big man not asking for trouble. |
No sir. The will of the people prevailed. They voted in the APC for better or worse. The outcome of the election is not in doubt. What is in doubt is the mental acumen of most of those that did. The inability to send a strong message to power by exercising the right to remove them. What is the point of democracy when it clearly doesn't work. |
This is absolutely nonsense. How and why should a strike by 2 million or so (every soul collecting a government entitlement) shut down a nation of 180 million people. What kind of silly system continues to support the suffering of so many on behalf of so few. Today the government came out to say that despite the strike, government salaries will be paid. Can that be said of the private sector or small businesses that will suffer now. This is why the people should force government out of businesses completely. The airports for example are prime business locations and thus should not be government owned except they serve only government purposes such as military airbases. Can you imagine this nonsene. When the American government shuts down you hardly notice it outside Washington DC and even within the state it concerns only those who have government business which is less than 20 percent of GDP. Here government is too big and domineering and this must change if this nation is to progress. The NLC is fighting for their members and their pockets using the general public which stands to gain nothing whatsoever as cannon fodder. When they eventually resume from the strike with their astronomical salaries you will still require their myriad of permits to do business and live your lives in peace and they will still exploit you, oppress you with their government power and force you to pay bribes. Why should I support and join in fighting for those lot and jeopardise my business in the process. They should vacate the airport immediately. Nonsense. |
This is not a sinkhole. It is not a hole when you have an embankment to one side. |
xfactor23:Hmmm.... so you think. But Osun is in the south and has clearly chosen to maintain the failed status quo in governance. How do you explain that. |
Originality007:Told you your vote is a waste of time when you have thousands of others who cannot make an informed decision at the polls. That is not the fault of leadership. Nigeria is in this mess because of Nigerians not Nigerian leadership. That is why before elections, before the economy, before any quest for progress is a collective decision of the people what they want out of life and what vehicle of values they are willing to adopt to take them there. Clearly the people of Osun for example do not share the same values with other nationals as to what they want out of democracy. So no one, neither they themselves can then turn and blame leadership for failing. They have chosen. So before a country can change the people have to change the way they think. That is the basis for our frequent call for restructuring. Unfortunately the thought process has been truncated to mean a change in the way government works and some as ridiculous as asking for more states or regions or whatever. |
Sirjamo:But by what is going on in Osun, the PDP will likely retain the government reins come next year. Performance is no longer the criteria for electing governments or removing them. So sad that sentiment has destroyed the Nigerian electorate and citizen of this country. |
Deltatoto:Hmmm.... |
They seem to like the ix35. See quite a few around. |
If I have not collected or I am collecting how can someone collect in my behalf. If I have not solicited or I am not solicitiumg how can someone solicit in my behalf. If I have not ised my authority to influence how can somwone do so on my behalf. They can camo all they want. We know how government works and how this government works. People talk and what is going in there is more widely known than they think. Just that most folks are just not interested. |
saintgp: ....Rogue Nation.... |
Mediocrity is now the norm, incompetence no longer a thing of regret or shame. |
Wizpa:3,500 naira or what currency. Is that a joke or what. A 10 dollars rate certainly cannot be a for a hotel room. Please call it something else. |
How can anyone solicit something on your behalf if you are not known to be the type. Does that make sense at all. Your husband publicly says he is as clean as a whistle and intolerant to corruption. How come folks don't believe this and have the effrontery to send 2.5 billion to the villa...by 2019, everyone will be demystified. Like the ex DSS boss. You better lock the ADC up and throw away the keys |
By 2019 everyone will be demystified. |
NonsoWow:Weakling indeed and some liked the post. I guess that is how far we are from redemption. It is a curse to do the right thing in Nigeria. Shame. I guess this government is toying with its legacy. I hope it.will be remembered for some good when the lights eventually shuts out. |
As usual he will have none, the people ask for none and thus he will do none eventually. Yet he was abke.to gather over 200,000 votes of those obviously blinded by the tears of their present sorrows. I tell you someone needs to grow some brains, make the sacrifices to make this democracy work. The people of Osun definiely are not asking these folks real questions. |
It is the poor that continues to suffer from a failed society. |
thesicilian:No sir. That is the foundation of excellence. That is how God created us to be. That is how the tribes of Israel were divided and tasked. Even in nature a lion births a lion, an eagle lays eggs with little eaglets in them. A crocodile does not raise a buffalo or gives birth to a rat. That is why animals are much more proficient than humans and why God naturally blesses them. They have no problem wirh vision and know exactly what they are created to do. The life of man on the other hand is a recurring mess, full of hate, ignorance and ao his life is most miserable. |
rOsy247:This tit for tat psychological rush for the basement of morality is unhealthy and will hurt far more women than men in the long run. I seriously fear for our daughters of the future. The best way to conquer is to stoop and accept responsibility for making things work. |
lloyds:Yes, he did many wrong things. As the maxim shareholder and Chairman of 'Nigeria Incorporated', Nigeria has remained dysfunctional over the decades because of him. Not that it could work anyway but he has successfully seen through the policies that brings her back from the brink of revolution time and again. Now the pent up anger with the present government and system he will not allow to work through to a certain revolution. Just when the people are fed up, like that infamous rat that coaxes its victim into delirium while nibbling at his toes Mr. Obasanjo is at it again with the soothing breeze of the palace change of the Buhari government, obviously with an intention of replacing it with a one which will certainly turn out much worse. |
Called a tail board not a back shield. Not a gadem spacecraft. |
Haven't we learned of the saying, that if you divided the wealth of the world equally amongst all its inhabitants, that in time it will return in exactly the same proportions to exactly the same hands. In contrast haven't we heard of the saying, "Nigeria is a rich country".... so how come a rich entity can be brought out of debt serially. What is wealth then. Someone is obviously lying. |
Olohunjedalo:Hmmm....and someone like you has a voters card and is expected to make an informed choice at the polls. We are indeed in deep sludge. |
Honestly, I agree. I cannot believe for the life of me how anything except for a landslide victory for the opposotion is possible even if a donkey was fielded. What could possibly be worse than the disaster the Aregbesola APC led government foisted on the people of the state. A stalemated election can only belong to the company of retards (so sorry to be this harsh). They have learnt nothing and failed to replicate the gains the people of Ekiti were able to generate by voting out an under performing, disastrous Fayose PDP led government. Once again, as I will always state. A people cannot experience a better situation they simply cannot imagine and are unwilling to act upon. If the APC gets re-elected the people of Osun should prepare for the worst and the rest of Nigeria should prepare to stagnate at best and retrogress expectedly, the fallout affecting all other localities from Abia through Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, etc where the incumbents have failed but are hellbent on continuing their reign of socio-economic terror. Democracy sure isn't working.... the people are not working it. |
To say there is a run off is a shocking result in a state that has completely been run aground by the incumbent shows we are far from understanding and establishing what a functional democracy is and how it can be made to work for a people. And gives credence to my assertion that the quality of life a people experience cannot rise above their thought process. In sane climes it should be a landslide for opposing parties. Sentiment remains our greatest personal problem, not corruption. |
Heartbreak is deadly. When a deeply loved spouse is lost, the other half needs all the support to survive, remain alive and thrive. It js a most delicate situation. |

after what happen in Osun yesterday,i have no choice than to agree with him...
Still using the towel up till this moment
