tobiasbeecher:Don't mind them. They insult, oppress, subjugate their fellow citizens then have the effrontery to question a man elected to run his own country. Nigeria is more divided than America today and we are in a viscious downward spiral because of that. Talk of specks and logs in the eyes. |
Kobicove:Because we are uselessly proud. Are the things that Trump says not true. Are 9 out of 10 immigrants not there on economic grounds. Are 9 out of 10 inhabitants of this country not living in huts or slums or shanties or other colorful descriptions. Do 9 out of 10 emigrants not wish to extend their stay. What is so bitter about these facts that make us rave and rant. Europe was in a mess mid century and people fled to America in droves to escape all sorts of problems back home. Do we think the native Indians took it lightly and welcomed them with open hands. Today Europe has sorted itself out and the average western European has no desire to emigrate to the US. Same thing with parts of South America and Asia. When are we going to sort ourselves out to earn the respect we crave. We have collectively failed and should endure the insults we get or we will never get out, period. |
Adminisher:And as a Nigerian what is your business about the fortunes of another country. He says it like it is and is absolutely correct. Most Nigerians donot want to return to the dump they were born once they escape its clutches. Most Nigerians also are equally as racist and project themselves and their tribes as supreme over others whether by words or acts. Look at the fulani pogroms going in unchecked in Nigeria. Look at the secessionist movement and violent backlash. Look at the hordes crossing the Sahara and being sold for a penny in the 21st century...then Trump is our problem. Have you gone to the airports here to see the faces of frustrated Nigerians. Have you seen them on the fuel queues. Abeg make una shelve una hypocrisy. Most countries will only open their borders to the best and brightest from Nigeria leaving this country an empty shell. Trumps fault I guess. May he continue to wage war on people who mess up their countries then run away or worst still, mess up this country from the comfort and safety of better organised societies abroad. |
davidif:It is their cash cow and scam boat. They won't sell. They are no longer making money from telecoms and power is slowly ebbing away. Do you expect them to give up rhe petroleum sector just like that. If I was in power I too will not want government to give up that sector because it could make me a killing in a few short weeks. That is why this country cannot develop without the active participation of its most vulnerable peoples, the people that suffer tbe most. Unfortunately they give up theur only powers (elective power) too cheaply and ignorantly. And as long as sentiment and propaganda can be used to manipulate them into cheap electoral decisions then anything goes. What is stopping us from making concrete, specific demands ahead of thd 2019 polls that whoever comes into government must privatise the petroleum sector before its first term is over and start that debate, now. But the corrupt government will muddle it with ethno-religious sentimentality and the ignorant mases will lose track. The best they will then give are vague promises of 'revamping' the petroleum sector, refurbishment of refineries and other pie in the sky tales. Nothing concrete ever sells in this country. I'm afraid we are just too ignorant a people to get the kind of quality government we desire. |
And on the thread above they are busy insulting Trump for not wanting them close to his country. Then they sit in their mudpit of tribal and religious bigitry and wallow. We have serious problems in this country. If we donot restructure soon the end will surely come.I cannot see us escape widespread violence and eventually civil war again. The seeds for that are sprouting every passing day. |
Chukazu:Exactly what I was insinuating before the polls that the much hyped anti corruption was not the main problem of Nigeria. That her structure fuelled corruption. Today we can all see that the best corruption fighter cannot tame corruption in a sector he is solely in charge of. What Nigeria needs apart from a heart to restructure is leadership that is pregnant with ideas. Success is all about ideas and Nigeria lacks leadership capacity to generate ideas to make the nation prosper. The best anticorruption can do is increase your savings but I donot know of any man who prospers by savings alone. Prosperity comes by productivity as well, generating wealth. This government lacks the capacity to do that, simple. |
kitaatita:That is what they say. That he is unmoved by suffering that will naturally breed resentment and complaint. If you have a headache do you ignore it or call you head the opposition or enemy. Won't you find a solution?. Societal suffering is symptomatic of a present malaise. You may have taken drugs a while ago but in waiting for health you treat yourself fairly. People are saying that this man is not have empathy, at least to those who wished him well during his own struggles. |
step1:Your over the top sentimentality has eroded the quality of the topic. Now its just a free flowing mud slug fest that will leave no one the wiser. |
EVILFOREST:You can say that again because I spend more time on the road than at home. Something like ten to one so you will often see me in guest houses, hotels and guest rooms of friends and clients. What will that make me then. |
oooduancalmdown:Japan BECAME a monoethnic society. It was not always so. They were a nation of many subcultures and religions some of which still exist today. They had their own civil wars but the great war of 1941 to 46 against external adversity finally crystallized the geographical entity into whatis called Japan today. Without that it would have been one empire and emperor at war with another. Same thing with much of Europe. The maps you see today were largely drawn post conflict in the tens of wars that ravaged that continent throughout history. Even the United Kingdom was not as united as it is perceived today. And they did not start out speaking english. It could be that if Nigeria survives another 500 hundred years, hausa, igbo and yoruba may just be a distant memory to generations to come. And they will view all these tribal warlords on Nairaland to be primitive neanderthals. It is inevitable Nigerians will speak one language in the future, willingly or compulsively. Either a new one or one of the three major ones and though we will have our religious beliefs they will become personal, and not as tools of public politicking. |
SLIDEwaxie:You're absolutely right. There is practically no nation that got independence in the 60's that is developed. The formation of nations take time. Ideals and values require a long time to crystallize and they are usually forged in common, grave external adversity which Nigeria has never faced. Now we may ask why it is so difficult for us to develop. In Nigeria's case it is simply because we cannot rally and unite around an ideology. Why. Because the colonial masters had thought hard and long about how to put systems in place to make it impossible for this geographical expression to have an identity. They learnt from their earlier colonies in east Asia particularly the Indian subcontinent about how to 'divide' a peoples in order to conquer and subjugate them, so they carefully draw national boundaries in such a way that sheep and goats or chickens and turkeys exist in the same pen. With that one side can always be played against the other, one side will always rat against the other. That is why as an individual I am proud to be completely detribalised and my faith exists in me alone and not to be used as an instrument of division and seperation. I donot criticize based on cultural or religious background. I have lived and in all the geo-political zones of Nigeria, have been to 34 of the 36 states of Nigeria and my state of origin, local government and so called village exists onoy on the pages of official documents. I absolutely have no regards for them. I understand a few but speak no so called Nigerian languages under any compulsion whatsoever and thus was the legacy my dad left me and I wil leave as well. There is nothing wrong to be local but Nigerians must realise that they are a diverse group of peoples and in order to go in to development we must get out of ourselves first and temporarily drop our personal identities for a corporate ine. The average Nigerian does not know what it means to be Nigerian. No nation can move forward this way. No nation can progress with such factionalisation seen in Nigeria. When we have crystallized our identity over decades then we can be permitted to rediscover our individuality. That is what the Chinese, the French, the Russian, the American revolutions were all about, the battles between individual and collective identities and values. I sincerely hope we will not have to be forged in the furnace of adversity to truly found this country. Because every right thinking person assumes that one can learn from the experiences of others. Nigeria does not have to reinvent the wheel. That is why we constantly cry out day afrer day that the country be restructured as talk is better that vice....... |
The depths of depravity. Yet another low. Chief security officer buying bootleg stuff. Its like catching Emefiele selling dollars on the streets of Idumota in broad daylight. There are no words to express this show of shame. |
Neoteny:Younger brother to Festus.... ![]() |
Aniwhyte:The man is asking for advice and here your are rambling about failed politics, politicians and issues of governance. Is this how you will rule if put in charge. It is how you will solve the challenges of your constituents if voted in to represent them. Everyone just loves the blame game. Its lazily convenient. See what it has cost this government. Abeg answer his question. |
femi4:Ask me mbok. Even workmanship no go cover. |
I say restructure they say no. Okay scrap the NNPC they say no....so enjoy na. Said it countless times. The best you will get from this system of government is superficial improvements here and there. The basic building blocks for sustainable development, progress and prosperity can only be moulded from the soil of total sacrifice and burnt in the furnace of restructuring. We are just playing russian roulette with our collective destiny and one day the chamber will be loaded. |
Desyner:Honestly, I cannot believe we are this dumb as a people for these guys to have the audacity to talk rubbish like this. When a nation, a people are so ignorant of everything from how government works, to how democracy develops nations, and how countries build solid foundations for sustainable prosperity, some idiots will just appear out of nowhere to sell stories to mask their criminal intents. Till tomorrow they cannot see the futility in the useless mega projects of absolutely zero feasibility. Piping vapour thousands of miles across the country with zero supporting infrastructure, negative track record of maintenance and hopeless economic benefit. The NNPC that cannot feed its white elephant refineries wants to step into a more difficult league called electricity.... honestly this is just sickening.... |
Instead of ensuring businesses survive and thrive then make money off them in true solidarity, all banks do is leech the life blood out of legit businesses and industries. For me GT is just a clearing house. I do musical chairs with them. And hopefully will never need them for more than that. |
oshe111:He didn't promise you anything. He said the change begins with you. So better get a license to start refining crude. |
sarrki:Never knew I would see this day. Change indeed begins with you. |
No wonder the top brass were all retained. To keep them in the loop and prevent them spilling the beans...to ensure good table manners. |
When we say restructure Nigeria they think it is a joke. A storm is coming. |
Poverty everywhere you go. |
Save any catastrophic implosion next year Buhari will return with a wider margin. The PDP will simply not be ready for 2019. The Sheriff took way too much time and resources out of the beleaguered party. And I think it might be the best for Nigeria. We want to see a post Buhari era emerge before they face real competition or we may just return to a one party state because the PDP will get it right eventually but hopefully not to dominate as they used to. |
kings09:One pack of latex...to keep you safe and sound. |
So when we blow whistle we get what...panadol for anoda man headache. How about whistle for quack doctors and fake nurses. |
Pork is way down my protein wish list simply because pigs by nature are resilient animals. They can harbour, survive and thrive in such septic and toxic environments that you need a lot of work to bring their meat to safe levels for consumption. In a nutshell pigs are built tough in and out so what will kill them will kill man several times over. Nigerians are not known for hygiene, nor are they known for details, standards and ethics. A lot of hidden problems will get through. So I rather stick with my poultry. Birds drop dead at a penny so consuming risky poultry is a lot less possible than pork. It has great aroma, very tasty but to me just too risky to consume regularly. Let there be strict regulations first. |
CASTOSVILLA:...carry 'I pass my nebor' for boot na or you go hug transformer by force. |
This man will not cease this disgusting behaviour. Getting more and more reprehensible each passing day. |
As an anti-cultural, anti-tribal person what I I thought to say maybe misconstrued as being offensive so I refrain from commenting. But when I pass on I sincerely do hope it will not leave humanity worse off... most especially those I claim to love. Please bury me when you can, how you can and where you can. I guarantee you it won't hurt my feelings for I will be very, very dead. |
tydi:Age cheating fighting back.... so sorry for him bout his health challenges. |
fergie001:What is intelligent about that. Clubs that can barely pay players wages. Clubs that 'herd' their players (yes you heard me right), herd their players from one match to another in rickety contraptions.... will have enough cash to maintain that place....abegi... |
